Trees, and bushes, the elvaan enjoyed hopping through the forest. The only thing he disliked were the monsters that popped out occasionally. His Gummi Ship had landed not too far away while Metus enjoyed himself a bit. He had seen some ruins not too far away and thought of investigating the place. After keeping up his pace, he ran out of the forest and came to a halt. In front of him was some really worn down place. It seemed to have fallen apart over the many years. Broken pillars and walls.
A large grin appeared on the elvaan's face as he jumped forward to get inside the building, he quickly hopped onto a broken pillar and climbed up through a crack in the wall. Who needs the front door? He asked himself and had to laugh as he got himself inside the place. Even the boats back at the graveyard were in better state than the ruins of this place. From the looks, Metus thought it was a shrine. It isn't very large. He thought to himself and shrugged.
He crouched more down to the ground and picked up a rock, it crumbled a bit in his hand. "How old is this place?" He wondered, speaking out his thoughts this time. Then he shrugged again and threw the stone against a pillar that immediately broke a large part of, crushing down on the floor. Metus blinked, but then shrugged as he looked for something more interesting.

The old Chaos Shrine was a remote and desolate place very few souls had ever wandered too, and yet here today those souls gathered. A young man with bright clothing, straight blond hair and an eye-patch wandered onto the roof of the shrine, feeling something had called him here. He had met Thief of Light on another world after he requested help on his world, and who was Gippal to refuse, when he wanted all the worlds to unite under one roof? If he was recruiting people to help save his world, he'd want people to come and help without question like he did, even if the Thief of Light never returned the favor. But something was amiss, and the leader of Spira felt it in his bones, as he looked among the ruins. The cracked walls and the broken pillars told more of a story that the place was old - there had been a battle here, and he could feel an ominous dark presence about the place.
As he looked about with his one eye, the other having been permanently scarred in battle itself, he thought about what this could mean. The Thief of Light was obviously called that for some reason - maybe the contrasts between light and dark were clearer to see here than it was on other worlds? Maybe this meant there was warriors of darkness around. No... there was something more than that. Something that felt immense and powerful... something like Sin had been. In anticipation and cautiousness, he unsung his hand cannon from his back, and took off the safety to arm it with a loud click.
He looked down as he heard a louder separate noise, and saw a strange elvish man enter the ruins. He didn't feel like the presence Gippal had sensed, nor the cause of it - there wasn't anything dark or dangerous about him. He had long ears, something he hadn't seen before, the only race on his home world with long features were the Guado that had attacked his people in Home. The city of the Al Bhed, and the thought made Gippal frown a bit, but he shook those bad memories away. He looked down and hoped carefully to the center of the ruins, which appeared to be a throne room of sorts, but had more of a shrine feel to it. He waved in a friendly manner to the other man, and waited for the Thief of Light to join him, reloading his hand cannon as he did so in preparation to battle.
"Yo. Name's Gippal. You feel that eerie vibe about this place, too?"

(I was told I could use them as NPC's and I figured I would use them for my plot thread, if that's alright with you guys.) Chaos smirked as he descended slowly from the sky and looked down at the world before him. It had been a long time since he was here, more then two thousand years to be exact. He couldn't help but to laugh because it was finally time to turn the world he once sought into pure chaos. If one would think the Heartless would be pulling Chaos' strings they would be gravely mistaken. The Heartless wouldn't even get their grimy paws on the world that Chaos sought. In fact once he was done here he would go after the Heartless he oh so despised. He watched as the denizens of light started to assemble around the old Chaos shrine, a place that he use to call home. It was there two thousand years ago he was born and started the endless cycle. His death there only fueled the cycle as it revived him once again in a more powerful form. That was when he fought the Goddess of Light, Cosmos. After the war with Cosmos he was defeated by her warriors, but he's back again and more powerful then before. Now since the dwellers of light were crystalless and godless he was unstoppable! Chaos landed on top of the Chaos shrine and saw Gippal and another warrior of the light that would oppose him. This fight would be an excellent test of his new powers, but he wanted to have fun with them first. He wanted to test them to see if they were worthy to fight the God of Discord. If he wanted to he could of smited them right then and there, but he's confident enough in his abilities to deal with any insects that would dare to challenge him. Out of Light and Darkness, Darkness reigned supreme and anyone who would not follow his Dark reign would drown in Darkness themselves. He also had a feeling one of the Warriors he had combated in the past would rise up and clash against him. He had no worries though, they were still crystalless. "Do you two wish to control the planet like I? Fill it with the flickering brightness of Light?" Chaos questioned them as he was preparing a little surprise for his unwanted guests. "If so, you must pass a test to see if you are worthy to face me. Now, feel the despair of the universe!"Chaos shouted as four portals in the ground opened up. Out of the portals came his deadliest warriors he had ever created. Lich, the fiend of Earth. Marilith, the fiend of Fire. Kraken, the fiend of Water. Tiamat, the fiend of Wind. The four fiends and Garland had created Chaos under his command, it was confusing to explain and Chaos usually avoided the subject. Garland himself even explained to Chaos that he was wrong in his own theory. The four fiends looked up at Chaos and cheered that their old master had returned. "Go my fiends of the dark, wreck havoc to those who side with the light!"Lich took his chance to stand up to Metus. He was itching to try out his renewed powers. "I am the fiend of Earth, Lich! When I am through with you I shall plunder the Earth and make it rot!" The skeleton was surrounded by Earth spirits as he waited for Metus to strike first. Kraken found his way to Gippal and his tentacles squirmed with excitement. The ocean nearby was starting to get Chaotic as the waves started to crash into the land, feeling Krakens power. "I will drown you with the power of a thousand oceans for I am the fiend of Water, Kraken! Feel my mighty prowess!" Kraken wasn't hesitant to attack and tried to squirt some ink at Gippal, if he were to get hit by the ink he would be blinded temporarily (one post). Marilith and Tiamat, the females of the group, waited by Chaos and watched the battle. They would join in only if more warriors would appear or if Lich and Kraken were defeated. Marilith and Tiamat laughed at the male fiends when they made their speeches and Marilith couldn't help but to whisper to Tiamat. "They don't have that much personality do they? When those two bozos are done clowning around it'll be our time to shine!" Chaos sat down on one of the old pillars and it acted as his throne. He folded his arms and smirked. "Excellent, these pathetic pawns of the light will feel true Darkness!" The sky above them was already turning gray and the whole area had a chaotic feel to it. If the battle wasn't won Chaos would finally reign over the world!

Darkness was shrouding his world once more... The familiar presence of the four fiends shuddered across the land upon their revival. The thief of Light was able to tell this quite easily, for the earth began to feel weak beneath his feet, and the oceans were being stirred greatly, causing massive waves and storms to occur. He drew his katana from his back and quickly began to run towards where his new partner, Gippal, went. The darkness was growing so very thick, making the thief wonder why.
"I have to hurry... Gippal doesn't know what he's up against," Hakuro mumbled to himself. He held his katana behind himself as he ran as fast as he could. The distance between where Gippal had been and his ship wasn't far, so the thief got to the location in no time... However, glee wasn't among the things he was feeling. The very being he thought that he and the other warriors of light had killed had returned some how... Chaos.
The sight of the god stopped the thief in his tracks and nearly made him drop his sword. He kept a slight grip on it, but then tightened it when he saw Gippal once more, along with the Kraken going on the attack. Hakuro began to run once more, hurrying over to the battle field... In his current state, the thief wasn't if the battle would go well for him. His ninja class held all of his abilities and was restricted into an ability as well. He had to plan the battle wisely, otherwise, he'd end up dead. The thief of light called out to Gippal as loud as he was able to.
"Gippal! Move out of the way!"

Metus blinked when a man appeared. The guy was also blond, much like him, only his hair was bordering white much more. The guy was quick to introduce himself as Gippal and asked if he had the same eerie feeling like him. The elvaan looked up at the ceiling which had holes up to the sky. "Can't say." He answered shortly after, still confused before he noticed something from above.
He stared at the God of Discord that came down on the shrine. "I've never seen something that ugly, and I definitely mean that with all hideous slugs included. Though, the hecteyes creep me out more." He said, speaking out his thoughts just before Chaos spoke to him and the guy he just met. He posed some questions. He then presented a test and four dark portals opened. This is definitely not my thing.
From them appeared a walking sack of bones, it made him think of a corses. Something that resembled a wingless sea monk. A lamiae with many arms. And a hydra, that seemed most regular. The corses, or whatever it was, came before him and spoke up. Apparently introducing himself as Lich. He scratched his head. "Hi, I'm Metus. Why do you want to plunder the earth? Also, rotting isn't healthy." He searched through his pack and held up an apple. "Perhaps you should have this. It's healthy, and you definitely need it." With the last he looked at the bones. "You're awfully thin." He ended and looked up when another newcomer spoke, which apparently knew the guy with the single eye.

(OOC: You can use them, but it has to be sparingly Chaos, otherwise they might as well be summons. Make them disappear in a few posts please, if you wish if Chaos wins this battle you could apply to have them as summons., I'm sure Chaos himself will be enough for them to handle.)
The other man simply replied he couldn't say, just before something winged and heavy blocked out the light from above. Gippal looked up to see a leathery humanoid descend from the skies, and he knew immediately that this was the dark, foreboding presence he was sensing from Earlier. Which was mind-boggling, because while he was much larger than them, he wasn't anything compared to the size of Sin. Then again, Gippal hadn't really had a good chance to see Sin up close, except maybe after he escaped the destruction of Home back in Spira. And then again... appearances can be deceiving. But the appearence of this monster was pretty straight-forward, he didn't look like the type of creature that knew what benevolent meant. It had to me one of the more uglier type of fiend he had even seen, and he'd seen a lot of ugly fiends.
This must have been the reason the Thief of Light had requested him to come here, and immediately Gippal tensed up. He watched him with a low green eye, listening to his distorted malevolent words. His blonde eyebrows furrowed, a bit surprised this fiend could speak, but still defiantly replied back. "No, not take control, not like you must have. Just to protect life, and defeat malice in it's place, either if it's Light or Darkness. Who are you, anyway, some sort of fiend?" He didn't get an answer, though, as he looked around for the 'test' the fiend was going to give them before facing him. He seemed pretty arrogant for a fiend... who did he think he was, and what was he, exactly?
His attention turned to four portals that appeared, and immediately the leader of Spira realized this must have been what the fiend had summoned, and observed four more fiends coming out of them. Fiends summoning fiends he hadn't seen since Sin had summoned Sinspawn... and even then, they didn't talk like these did! A large octopus-like field slithered up to him and started to speak to him immediately, and Gippal stood still as he stared him down and listened in disbelief, almost not catching the threat the fiend hissed at him. The fiend introduced himself as the Kraken, and without warning the creature spat ink at him, hitting him straight in his only eye. The Al-Bhed cried out in surprise and instinctively ducked his head down and flinched away, trying to protect himself and wipe the sticky gunk out of his eye as the attack triggered a memory of how he had lost his other eye.
---
It had been in his early teens when it had happened. In the Bikanel Desert in Spira, the capital city of the Al Bhed called Home was still inhabited, but like all areas of Spira there were fiend problems. Recently a fiend had attacked a childhood friend of his, and Gippal had come back to the beach it had attacked her at looking for some payback. Gippal had been looking for the fiend in the water, but what he didn't realize was that the fiend had come out of the water and was hiding behind a sand dune. Before Gippal realized it had snuck up behind him, it was too late, and as he turned around the fiend spit parayzing venom into his eye.
All he could remember was blinding pain, and shots rang out in his reaction, hearing a hiss as it hit the fiend at point-blank range. An eye for an eye, literally, and Gippal had to grit his teeth to stop himself from screaming as he held a hand over where his eye socket was. Lucky for him as he glanced at the fiend he had shot, it was a killing blow, but the damage had already been done. He stood there for a while as he tried washing his eye out in the sea, but he couldn't see through it, and in a panic he stumbled back to Home. He was fitted for an eye-patch that same evening, but the damage to the intact eye was irreversible - he would never see through two eyes again.
---
It was this same fear that bubbed up in Gippal's chest, and Gippal stumbled back away from the fiend, desperately wiping the gunk out of his eye as what to do next rushed through his mind within the next few seconds. When in a combat situation, when a opponent paralyzes the other in combat in any shape or form, it leaves their target open and vulnerable to attack. Gippal couldn't have this if he wanted to survive this encounter, and so in order to avoid fighting blindly, he either had to minimize his vulnerability or maximize his opponent's by fighting fire with fire. Accuracy and perception wouldn't matter if either of these were to occur, and Gippal reached for his utility belt, quickly resorting to a back-up plan. Suddenly, he heard the voice of the Thief of Light from behind him, and knew what to do.
Following Hakuro's orders, he dropped to the ground and combat-rolled out of the way, imagining he would shoot like a bullet with a leap over him to use one of this thief weapons. It would make a great surprise counter-attack, but whatever ToL had in store for the fiend, Gippal was grateful he was coming in to distract Kraken while he took a moment to recover. But he was not useless, and he was not going to be down for the count so soon, not when he had lasted so long against Vengagun. He wanted to prove he was more than just cannon fodder for the heroes to come save him, he was the leader of Spira for crying out loud, he was the awesome Gippal that had survived the Crimson Squad! He had unlimited potential and guts, he wasn't going to let it go to waste now, even if he was beaten down a thousand times.
He breathed in heavily, adrenaline now rushing through his system, fighting back the crippling fear he felt would have taken over him. ToL was counting on him to give him cover support, and he was going to give it, blinded or not. No matter how blind someone was, spells always hit their mark, and from his experience water fiends were always weak to lightning spells. Combining two ingredients in his stash, he combined them and threw them in the last direction he had seen Kraken, knowing fully well it would not hit ToL unless he directly targeted him. A spell in the form of Thunderbolt zipped low across the ground ahead of ToL towards Kraken with a crackling snap, if successful causing some Thunder-element damage, and Gippal hoped the long-eared guy he had spoken to was going something constructive to help aid him and his new comrade in this battle that had erupted.
He could only curse if rotten luck if he became blind in both eyes.

(Sounds like a Plan)
(Remaining posts until fiends disappear: 3)
Chaos watched as the battles unfolded, enjoying the Chaos that was being brought to the land. His moment of what he called "happiness" faded when he saw a familiar face. "That boy.." He murmured to himself in disgust when he saw the Thief of Light join the fray. It looked as if he lost his Ninja powers so he still wasn't much of a threat. "So Garland and I weren't the only ones who remember. He to remembers the events that unfolded so many years ago. His Ninja powers are gone, how pitiful. No matter, without their crystals they're powerless against me." Chaos wasn't ready to jump in yet and one of his fiends looked eager to jump in. "Marilith! Take care of that Thief!"
Marilith nodded with a smirk and jumped into the battle with the Thief of Light. "Ehehehehe, so you've returned Thief? Too bad that Black Mage of Light isn't around, he was the only one I liked!" She hissed and stuck her tongue out at the Thief, taunting him. "Let's get away from that big lug Kraken and have some real fun!" Marilith always loved to toy with her food before she killed them. She hadn't had a thief meal in a while so she would enjoy every last bite! All six of her arms raised up, swords in hand. "I'll even give you the first strike." She winked.
Kraken was upset that the Thief of Light was stolen by Marilith, but he still had his target. He looked around frantically trying to find his target. "He shouldn't of gotten anywhere with that blind eye... where die he go?" At times the Kraken was blind by ignorance to tell that he was right behind the Thief and Marilith. Crrraaccck! He heard a familiar sound and it startled him as he got hit directly by Lightning. Kraken dropped to the ground and shook as he was paralyzed. "You fool! Once I get up I will drown you!" The ocean started to calm down when Kraken was temporarily out of commission. Once he got up he moved around Marilith and the Thief to get a better view of Gippal. "Take this! Thunder!" He hit back with the same spell that was shot at him in hopes he would actually strike Gippal. Kraken was a better fighter then spell caster.
Lich was annoyed by Metus' remarks and his bones cracked as he lifted his finger up. He pointed at Metus like if death was pointing at his target. "You dare not mock the great and mighty Lich!" His brow, or what was left of it, wrinkled and he shook his head at the offering. "I don't want any apples! Your light shall perish under my dark touch! En-garde!" Clearly he wasn't hungry nor the type to reason with. It was such a fate as a fiend under the rule of Chaos. "I see a annoying pest, how about you take a rest?" He rhymed as a pink beam surrounded his finger. He fired off the beam and if it hit Metus it would make him feel drowsy and possibly fall asleep (one post).
Tiamat and Chaos both observed the battles going on. She shook all of her heads and turned to Chaos. "You won't be needing me, Lord Chaos. There are four fiends and three light dwellers, my service would unbalance the battlefield." Chaos looked over at her in question. "You wish to not participate? Wouldn't you enjoy causing the winds to be damned with eternal hell?" Tiamat nodded. "I would greatly enjoy that, but you Lord Chaos would be more then enough to take care of these pests of light single handedly I just don't want to get in your way." Chaos knew her plan, she had honor in the battlefield and didn't want to break it, so he let her go. "Very well, Tiamat. You are dismissed." Tiamat jumped back down into the portal she came out of and it closed up. (Tiamat out).

The thief of light tried to use the moment he was given by the blinded Gippal to attack. He quickly began to advance on the Kraken when Marilith stopped him. He stopped and jumped back with a curse flying out of his lips. He held the weapon to his side and stared at Marilith with an angry stare. The Kraken had gotten back up before he could have the chance to land a quick blow on the fiend.
"Damn...! She got in the way of my attack," Hakuro thought. He looked at the Kraken go around him and Marilith to go after Gippal. He cursed once more. He didn't want to have to deal with the snake right now, but she was giving him no choice. Hakuro then looked over at Chaos and Tiamat, the fiend of wind. She seemed to have taken it upon herself to leave the battle field. While that was good for them, it still meant that they had to deal with the three other fiends, then Chaos next.
When Marilith mentioned fighting alone, Hakuro glared at her. He spoke once more, while pointing his sword at the fiend, "You think you're capable of handling me alone? Is that what you think, Marilith, you disgusting beast?"
He shifted the sword into his right hand and knelt down on his right knee. He moved his left hand to his boot and drew out his dagger and held it with the blade pointing away from his body. Hakuro got back onto his feet and waited for the fiend to attack him. He'd save his use ninja form for when he'd really need it, which would most likely have been against Chaos, but Marilith was capable of proving to those that fought her that she was a valiant fighter, especially when she had the capable ability to attack with six swords.
"Now now, go ahead and attack first, if you wish. I doubt you'll be able to hit me at any rate," Hakuro stated arrogantly, while smirking at the fiend. The battle was going to be a long one, that was for sure.

Metus shrugged and raised an eyebrow. "If I didn't dare, why did I then?" He questioned the Lich on his remark that he wouldn't dare. "Plus, it is healthy." He took a bite off the apple. "Lights vanish in the presence of a shadow, but the shadow cannot exist within the light. The cycle will never end, even if you end one light, another will take its place and erase the darkness." He told the undead fiend.
When the Lich rhymed, Metus blinked surprised, he never expected the sack of bones to have a sense of rhythm. Due to his surprise, he didn't take the time to dodge whatever would come, not that he expected a pink beam. Heck, even that surprised him. A all-powerful monster using a pink attack. Pink usually seemed more placed with kids and cute, fluffy stuff, not some wandering corpse. After getting hit, the Elvaan took a few steps back, but his sight had changed and he felt strange. "... W-wha--..." After taking too many steps he fell backwards drowsily and finally asleep.
[OOC: Short, I know, sorry. Since I'm asleep for one post, you can skip me the next, I believe.]

Post by gippal on Nov 17, 2009 10:41:24 GMT -5
The adrenline pumping through his veins, his breathing shallow and heavy as he hunkered down, Gippal managed to clear the ink out of his eye and the view of the battlefield came into focus once more. He had heard Thief run by and a voice proclaiming to counter him, and he now saw it was the fiery snake woman that had intercepted him, having moved from Chao's side. He moved his attention back to his enemy, just as the sizzling crack of a Thundara shot through the air towards him, and Gippal tried to dodge to his left to avoid it. He ended up getting struck by it, and lost control in mid-air for a second, before he used an aerial recovery and flipped to maintain his balance and land on his feet. He flinched a little as the electricity snapped over him painfully sharper than any static electricity for himself, and looked quickly from his opponent to his allies, who looked like they were standing around and doing nothing.
He knew they were meant to be the good guys, but... c'mon, was he the only one that was actually fighting to protect this world?
Thief of Light hadn't appeared to have done anything, but he guess he couldn't blame him if the medusa lady had gotten in his way from getting to Kraken. But the guy with the pointy ears just offered the skullhead called Lich some apple. Which was a nice, kind gesture, but... dude, it was a freakin' skeleton for cryin' out loud? What was it going to digest the apple with, it's imagination? He guessed the poor guy wasn't a fighter and didn't know what he had walked into, and Gippal almost felt sorry for him.
And perhaps even more so when a beam shot out from Lich and put him to sleep. Gippal flickered back his gaze towards his opponent as he made a split-second decision and started running across the broken battlefield of the ruins, around Kraken and past ToL with the literally-hot mama towards the sleeping elf, formulating a plan in his head. Four enemies and the two of them still in commission, which mean two to one odds, and Gippal had to do something to bring the balance back to their favor. "Yeah yeah, ink-for-brains, too bad when I beat you you won't taste any good as calamari." he called back without missing a beat to Kraken, plunging a glowing hand into his pocket, and pulled out a conjured Remedy using his Stash ability just as he approached the slumbering elf. He leaped into the air and poured it above him, which magically cured him of sleep instead of soaking him, and for that extra kick literally he landed a shoe on the square of his back for a moment. "Thanks!" he said humorously behind him as he pushed himself off the stranger to use him as a launching pad to gain height in the air, swinging his hand cannon around to point down at all of his opponents below including Chaos.
Oh yeah, he had them now!
He pulled the trigger as he shot his hand-cannon the Machina Maverick Mark IV, white hot non-elemental energy raining down on his enemies from above, in the Demi-like ability called Grinder which would successfully take a reasonable fraction of HP from it's targets if they successfully hit. "Eat canon!" he cried immediately after he pulled the trigger, being pushed back through the air from the re-coil of the blast, landing him backwards near Kraken. By attacking all enemies at once, it would at least distract them from focusing on the white-haired guy while he was recovering from sleep, just as Hakuro had given Gippal when he had a status ailment. He hunkered into a battle stance and breathed in hard, balancing the weight of his heavy hand cannon on his thigh, his colored suit slightly battle-damaged on the chest from the Kraken's Thundara. This was far from over - he might have been damaged but he was far from calling this battle over yet, and still had a lot of supportive tricks up his sleeve.
He hadn't even reached his true potential, either.
Why was he trying to prove to this stupid god he was worthy enough to fight him, anyway, when all he really seemed to be was some big ugly fiend with even uglier flunkies? No, that wasn't it, Gippal was here to help protect Hakuro's world from the encroaching darkness. And fiends were never on the good guy's side, so they had to go, even if it meant facing a self-proclaimed god. Sin seemed like a god to him, and even Vegnagun that was built to combat Sin he had gone up against seemed godly, but that hadn't meant they were invincible and unbeatable. If Spira had kept that way of thinking, it would forever be in Sin's shadow, making prayers and sacrifices that were only empowering it rather than preventing it.
He had to stop this Chaos guy, and with his comrades and his awesome Al-Bhed alchemistry, he knew he had to outlast these alternatives to Sinspawn before he could beat down the big guy himself.
