Fifteen minutes.
That was how long it took for hostility to present itself on this cloudy day, and it had come bearing no mercy or signs to hint of relent. The opposition was fierce, highly volatile and nothing short of bestial. Each possessed it's own demented, and downright morbid features which only further added to the legitimate proof that the former location of Palamecia had indeed become an outpost of Hell. The evidence was laid out before a pair of darkened spectacles that reflected the mayhem ensuing before the master-less, looming darkness of Castle Pandaemonium. The huge, shadowed structure only served as a testament to the floods of evil and death that had consistently washed over this world countless times over, and did nothing to shake the foundations of the Light now standing before it. Before the evil rook of the mountains, there were many bridges of naturally formed stone and earth that had been carved away by the hellfire that surrounded Emperor Mateus' former dwelling. Upon the largest, and most open spaced of these natural formations was the large ring of opposition, with it's center being occupied by a lone figure in red.
Several beasts from hell, that closely resembled boars with demonic qualities, already lay wasted amongst the ground upon which the man stood on. His stance was wide as he remained lowered in his traditional poise for fighting, and kept a single eye upon all before him while his ears listened for those out of his line of sight. A firm grip was planted upon the tightly wrapped leather of his large sword, which had returned to his shoulder as the man continued to fight one handed. The little wind in the area did nothing to provide him with any comfort, for it was blowing from the Northeast and was catching the heat of the Castle's near impenetrable moat. Auron's brow remained furrowed as he counted the remaining force in an estimate, which to the Guardian came to at least twenty, twenty five tops. In several areas high above many rays of light had begun to break through the heavy clouds, revealing a bright sun to be the culprit of the act.
A beast not much taller than himself stepped forward from this ring of annoyances, challenging the man in red by repeatedly pressing the staff of it's large morning star to a hairy, yet muscular chest. The motion was complimented with a blood thirsty battle cry as it charged forward, apparently more eager than it's comrades to smash this declared intruder. Auron slowly closed his only working eye and silently scoffed to himself as he readied his blade to counter the attack. When the creature was close enough, the man lunged forward while bringing his blade from his shoulder to meet the threat.
Although he had acted last in this mini duel, Auron's strike had been too fast for the hell beast to counter well enough with the weight of it's great weapon. The result was an eruption of sound equivalent to that of a gunshot. Splinters of wood shot everywhere as Battlefields of War slammed through the staff of the two handed morning star, which easily became a killing stroke upon the denizen of Hell. As the near silent man sailed by his opponent into a motionless stance behind it, the beast's chest erupted in a geyser of it's viscera while it gave a startled cry before collapsing to the dirt. As the creature joined it's fallen comrades, Auron's blade was once more whipped back up to his shoulder while he turned to his left. His eye caught sight of several of the hairy cretins charging for him as the quintessential samurai once more took his lowered stance.
With some force, Auron thrust his left arm straight up to release it from the inside of his red coat, which also revealed the hardened black leather he wore underneath. "This..." began the Legendary Guardian, as he took grip upon the hilt with both hands, and began a charge towards the threat. When Auron was close enough, he put himself into a rotation on the toes of his left foot and began spinning faster with each revolution. When it seemed to the beast that he had lost control and they had stopped, the man came to an abrupt halt with his blade pointed towards them. From Auron's position came a fierce, relentless Tornado, ripping through the dirt with great force. "...is for the Fallen!" he yelled as the collection of beasts were pulled into the whirlwind. While the winds picked up to over what seems like a hundred miles an hour in speed, the man removed his sake jug and took a swig of the cold drink before throwing it into the Tornado. The jug took impact from the many creatures inside the godly wind, and exploded to fill the cyclone with an intense heat and flame.
There were about half of their numbers remaining now, and it was to these remnants that Auron turned his attention to as the twister of flame howled behind him. "So, who's next?" he asked out to the intimidated opposition, returning his large katana to his right shoulder once more.

What a fascinating castle. It would make a fine replacement for my Syrcus Tower.
The charcoal-skinned sorcerer gazed upon the great infernal citadel with momentary interest. Even from such a distance he could feel the dread magic flooding from it. It was a most dreadful sensation, not entirely unlike being saturated with a foul odor. From where did this keep emerge that would cause it to drag along such an ugly aura? Still, it would be anything but useless in his hands, tainted or otherwise. Such a place might even aid him in his endeavors, provided he could find some way to twist the fell energies that infused the structure into a form that better suited his interests. He might very well find the dark power necessary to recreate an imbalance like the one on his home world, and if not he might find something of interest within that fiery pit it ascended from.
Xande glanced but once over his shoulder, confirming that his enemies were finished fighting. The mountainous terrain at his back was but scorched land and broken earth, and amid the shambles laid half a dozen of the bestial hellions. Strange unearthly creatures of brutish violence, their corpses now served as unclean monuments to his own destructive force. Their fighting prowess far surpassed that of the average man, but even then they were dime-a-dozen. Quality cannon fodder, if you will. They could really only be a problem in great numbers. Coincidentally, Xande’s powers were best suited to disposing of large quantities of combatants, so it did not matter a great deal. Considering their apparent origin, he was more concerned that they might have stronger kin wandering about.
Wandering ever closer to the insidious palace, the sound of clanging steel reached Xande’s ear. There was combat nearby. This was not entirely surprising considering who lurked by, and the wizard was content with leaving the fighters to their business. It seemed quite small-scale anyway. But then a thunderous crash brought his attention to a sudden whirlwind not far off, which proceeded to scoop a number of the bulky creatures into its raging depths. Then he saw him: a man, clad in red, standing upon one of the larger rock formations in the area. Like Xande, he fought the profane man-beasts from the depths of Hell. But that was where all similarity ended. It was not as apparent as the silver-haired man from the monochrome river, but he could be certain that this warrior was not of the Darkness.
Intent on shooing this interloper away for the time being, the sorcerer made his approach. By the time he had actually reached the hazardously carved bridge of bedrock the Tornado had been dispelled by, of all things, a violent explosion. He gave this little thought though. The swordsman bore the appearance of age; a welcome change in Xande’s typical encounters. Those numbering among the Light tended to be young whelps, seemingly engaged in their business on a whim rather than as a lifestyle. The rag-tag bunch of afterschool heroes that had trampled over his plans stuck most prominently in his mind.
“So, who’s next?”
Well, in fact... Xande had not yet wandered into the man’s field of vision, having entered from an odd angle. But he had no urge to perform a surprise attack this time, advantageous as it may be. As he did approach, one of the savage humanoids stood in his way. A wolf-like creature, tall and lanky. Standing at the thing’s back, the sorcerer made an almost dismissive motion toward the creature. The tower of flames produced by his Firaga engulfed the loathsome creature, from which it howled in wordless agony. When the burning geyser came to a halt the demon was upon its knees, dazed and smoldering. By this point Xande had actually reached the beast, and so planted a foot atop its now lowered head and forced it to the ground with a mighty stomp. It moved no more from its position under Xande’s heel.
“What do you say we ignore the small fries for now?” He addressed the man plainly, as the passions of combat had not yet filled him.
