(OOC: Hope you guys don't mind if Sora goes ahead and pulls Ferser's dagger out of the Cornerstone; if Darkness wins they can stab it back in, but if it upsets too many people I can re-edit it. Just makes sense to me that if Sora saw the dagger causing the darkness, he'd try to remove it.)
The Hall of the Cornerstone. The keyblade master had only been here a few times before, both covered in darkness and in light, but never in a darkness like this before. Only the illuminescent glow of the Kingdom Key he had to summon to his side could he see through the thick, smoldering darkness blinding his vision of the width of the room. But he also had it out because he was running, sprinting full-pelt towards his destination, slashing down folds of minor Shadow Heartless before his path. His breath was labored, and sweat knotted his brow, but he could not stop his pace despite his excertion. The other heroes of Light were on the outside of the castle, creating a distaction for his group, and Sora knew he could not waste a moment's breath on a single Heartless. For every moment he wasted his friends were risking their lives to give them more time, putting themselves at risk of getting hurt or worse, all for the sake of restoring Disney Castle back to it's former grandeur.
After the splash of the last Shadow had disapated, Sora looked up at what had once been the Cornerstone; now it was nothing than a enormous black orb, so pitch black and dense it was almost hard to tell there was darkness within it compared to the surrounding darkness if it was not for the light radiating from his keyblade. The spiky-haired youth looked with darkened azure eyes to the small dagger that had been inserted into the stone bracketing the orb; the very place he remembered seeing the unnamed Heartless man stab it into, before immense tendrils of darkness threatened to swallow their group whole. Even now the smothering darkness coiled around his very being, wrapped around his limbs which made Sora feel like he was back in the Underworld again, adding to his exhaustion of the heavy air weighing down in his lungs and slowly sapping his strength. The brunette boy was doing all he could to hold back the darkness; not just with the light from his keyblade, but it was his own light focusing through the weapon coming from his own heart. All he had to do was be brave and keep it strong, and his light would piece through the darkness stronger than the many millions of stars above. Not forgetting his purpose for being here, Sora quickly placed his grip on the handle of the short blade, and in one quick, swift movement jerked it out of it's resting place.
And then... nothing happened.
The young man threw the dagger away, squinting his eyes at the deep ebony of the orb in front of him, but it still remained the same. His head tilted slightly down in realization and shame, shame that he had set out to do had ended up in failure... unless there was another way Light could be brought back to the Cornerstone? His eyes fell upon his own shiny Kingdom Key, pulsing with it's own illuminescent light, and Sora suddenly felt his intuition spark as the mystical guardian of the worlds shimmered in his right hand. If it had worked for the Heartless to use a weapon of darkness on the Cornerstone... surely the keyblade being a weapon of the Light would work to reverse the enchantment? He took a leap backwards as he spun his keyblade in his left hand, the gold and silver weapon stopping it's rotation pointed straight forward in both hands, pointed at the small stab mark the dagger had been slotted into moments before. The keyblade intuitively responded as a beam of light shot out from the tip, shooting into the small incision as it turned into the shape of a keyhole, and waves of Light whipped up around the young Keyblade Master while a large symbol of a keyhole traced into the floor around him.
The beam disconnected as the Light around him died down, and instead of hearing the lock click as if to seal it, a small speck of Light began to spark in the middle of the black orb. It was small at first, about the size of a pinhead, but was bright as it gradually grew larger and larger as it began to fill the orb while pushing back the darkness trying to snuff it out. Sora's eyes brightened, and he began to feel a small speck of hope, almost like when he had heard Kairi's and Riku's voices call out to him in the darkness during his previous adventures. But as if to remind him how he was currently alone and to stomp that hope out, shadows began to form around him from the silhouettes the dancing light was creating, growing and shaping into more Heartless. Larger Purebloods, such as the Mega Shadows, and the eerie humanoid Neoshadows formed a tight circle around him in response to protect the Cornerstone from being an oriface to the Light again. Sora tensed, resuming a defensive position with his keyblade, feeling more presences coming closer to him from the large chamber of columns and stone surrounding him that was now alive and flickering with the conflicting contrasts of darkness and light.
Last time, when he thought he wasn't coming back, he had been lucky... Sora clutched the place where his crown pendant once hanged from his neck, instead remembering the lucky charm in his pocket, and wondered... was his Light still with him?

Gilgamesh was disappointed to report that, before today, he had never stormed a castle. He had defended one at least twice, and he had appeared atop the freshly invaded Lunatic Pandora, but he had never been able to perform an excessive case of breaking and entering. His Exdeath days were mostly spent routing approaching armies, and those of his wanderings went to fighting individual warriors or caravans. Never entire fortresses. And so, on the day of the conflict for Disney Castle, Gilgamesh proudly vowed to live his dream!
The swordsman gripped the Neo Shadow by its conspicuously featureless face, shifted his weight into the hand and drove the offending Heartless headfirst into the floor. It reached out to counter, and as it did so Gilgamesh’s spear found its side. The horrible skittering thing vanished in a plume of smoke/darkness/something, much to its slayer’s satisfaction. Even if they looked different he remembered these little terrors from Gaia; specifically how they had chased him up a building only to launch him from the third story. The creatures encountered here has a slightly more menacing appearance and seemed capable of actually fighting outside of large groups, but the similarities were unmistakable. He had no idea why they were holed up in this castle, but if the Ancient Man of Mystery was to be a Wrecking Crew of Mystery then they would PAY!
He stood up to his full height, spear propped over one shoulder as his eyes scanned the room. That had been the last enemy here. From the way the fighting was going outside he had fully expected the walls to be stuffed to the brim with the scurrying little assholes, but so far his indoors safari was proving to be relatively uneventful. He’d find maybe three or four in a room if he was lucky, and while he enjoyed not getting beat up it was hard to find satisfaction in so few small fries. What was going on? I hope someone isn’t running ahead and stealing my action. That’d be lame. But be that as it may, he wasn’t quite done yet. There seemed to be a passage of sorts in this room, and it practically called out to him. As he understood it the goal of this whole siege lay just beyond there, which meant it was as good a place to find a final boss as any. Hoping for the best, Gilgamesh sprinted into the open passageway.
As he closed in on what was sure to be the scene of a final climactic battle, he quite clearly felt something ahead. He....he couldn’t be sure what it was. The sensation of a lone flower surrounded by concrete, or a small boat standing tall against the storm’s threat to devour it. It was nothing he could properly place, but the feeling persisted. Whatever was ahead promised to be out of the ordinary. Still a spectacular location for the decisive battle of a mighty warrior such as himself!
Finally bursting upon the scene, Gilgamesh took a moment to scan the immediate vicinity. Those shadowy things from before? They were everywhere. Big ones, small ones, lanky ones; they just packed themselves into the room like hobos in an abandoned ham factory. Dead-center was some kind of weird orb thing - obviously the Kidney Stone of Light or whatever he had heard about out there - with a lone teen standing before it. Gilgamesh had to admit that the guy looked pretty cool, like a regal knight valiantly standing up to the corrupted remnants of a world lost to ruin. Or something. But there was one problem: He wasn’t GILGAMESH! Continuing his run, he held his spear forth and entered a powerslide across the floor. As his knees ground along the stone and his spear tore through whatever minor Heartless stood in his way, he eventually found his way toward the center of the room. His flashy red cape billowed as he leaped to his feet, spear twirling overhead in a showy manner. “AHA! Fear not, for with my presence these odds are once again evened!” The spear came down and the swordsman twirled to face the blackened army around them, entering a flamboyant stance of his own.

A battle was about to begin. And Ferser just couldn't wait.
He knew very well that the Castle was being infiltrated from both the outside and inside. He knew very well that there were intruders in the Castle. And he knew very well they were heading for the Cornerstone. But Ferser wanted to give them a little time to mess around. See just what they would do. Plus some Heartless were guarding the Cornerstone. It might be amusing to watch the invaders 'play' with the Heartless. In short, Ferser was not worried the slightest bit. He was confident that he would be able to crush whoever was invading with ease. They wouldn't stand a chance. Ferser was just being overconfident, as usual. Probably too overconfident, since this was a very important matter. Having the Castle be dark was a big step for the Heartless. This was a key world and now it was Dark. And it was going to stay dark. Ferser was sure of that much. He wasn't going to let some damn punks try and bring any pathetic light to this Castle.
Figuring that they probably made it to the Cornerstone already, Ferser thought it might be good to head down there himself. He didn't want to give them TOO much time. Then he might actually lose. Plus the invaders were probably relatively strong. They had to be pretty strong if they were coming here to challenge him. Either that or they had to be pretty damn stupid. He would be pretty amused if it was the latter, but he did hope that they were somewhat strong. He wanted a bit of a fight. And the ones that were stronger were always more fun to fight. They even caused him pain some times. Ferser loved to feel pain. The feeling he got from it was just amazing. And he was looking forward to hurting them, making them feel the pain as well. He was glad that he was alone. He always preferred fighting by himself. Other people just got in the way.
Ferser made his way to where the Cornerstone was and saw two people ha come to fight. He looked to the teenage boy first. Even if he was just a kid, he did look pretty strong. And he had that weapon...the keyblade. The one that was supposed to be super-powerful. Ferser was eager to see just how 'powerful' this keyblade was. Taking his eyes off the brat, he turned to the other man who seemed sort of...odd. Ferser watched as he killed one of the Heartless and then did some odd pose. He smirked while watching him. "What a jackass..." He thought to himself. Looking to the Cornerstone, he noticed that someone had removed the dagger. Ferser was not very worried about this. Once he took care of these two punks, he could just place it right back in, bringing back all of the Darkness.
"So...which one of you little punks removed my dagger?" Ferser paused and he drew some kunai from his pocket. He still wore that smirk on his face as he looked to both of them. "Looks like you damn punks need to learn a lesson!" Ferser cried out and he threw several kunai at them, each of the kunai being infected with a poison spell. Thinking it best to start out simple, Ferser drew his sword and held it in a defensive matter, waiting for them to start attacking him. Let the fun begin.

More darkness brought more doubt as the Heartless around him began to multiply in number, the room around him still pitch black, the only sign of the enemy indicated by the many hundred of neon eyes and body shapes moving around in the darkness. He didn't expect the Cornerstone to be defended by a few lone Heartless, and Sora held his keyblade at the ready, about to work into slaying the masses of Heartless that lay beyond where he stood. He had been in worse situations... in the Realm of Darkness fighting the World of Chaos, to fighting a whole valley filled with thousands of Heartless about to lay siege to Hollow Bastion. They could throw as many of them at him as they wanted, the only way he could remember he had ever been defeated by them was taking his own heart willing to save someone very important to him and restore the keyhole to that world, and he was not about to give up his heart anytime soon.
He raised his Kingdom Key slowly to begin taking out the excessive trash, sighing stressfully at the work that lay before him in doing so, when a fearless battlecry was shouted behind him. Sora whirled around, keyblade at the ready in case it he was under attack, but watched as the man in the red cape skewered a few Heartless with his large spear. He may have been mysterious and kind of cool-looking, but from what Sora could understand of what the enigmatic man said next, he knew instantly that the man was on his side to help lessen the burden of destroying the Purebloods that stood in their way. Still, even surrounded and outnumbered by manifestations of the darkness, Sora couldn't help his curiousity at the potential of finding out who this new friend was. "Huh? Who are you?" he manged to blurt out, before the Heartless onslaught began, and Sora quickly found himself on the defensive and at the end of a claw a Neoshadow had slashed tentatively at him.
A few seconds later, and Sora went from standing back-to-back with the man against their shadowy opponents, to leaping into the thick of the fold with his keyblade's tip leaving behind a dazzling array of circles of light in the darkness as it span around his body and made contact with the Heartless. The keyblade master jumped and flipped in the air with his keyblade stretched out before him, annihilating many Heartless before he landed on the ground, clearing a path between them and the Cornerstone. Of course, it would not remain open long, but it was not blocked by Heartless... the lesser beings seemed to stay still and even backed away to widen the path... it was that unusual behavior that Sora recognized that a stronger, Human Heartless was present before them. Sora steadied his keyblade in both hands, feet shifting almost instinctively back into defensive stance, as he looked up with azure eyes in the neon twilight underneath spiky hair at the familiar figure. It was the same human Heartless that had attacked the castle and had driven the dagger Sora had removed into the Cornerstone, making Disney Castle turn to darkness, and a flash of white from the young man's teeth as they bared into a snarl glimmered slighty at this recognition.
"Looking for me? This castle belongs to the King!" he called out a little cockly and very much defiantly, getting a feeling from the surrounding Heartless still at bay to make room for their master a battle was about to begin. No sooner than he had suspected this, that Sora watched as the Heartless 'Horseman' he was sure he was one of stopped to draw out daggers, and then throw them their way. Sora threw up his keyblade and used Guard, blocking the kunai weapons thrown in his direction, having seen them coming the moment the man took his time to draw them. He drew out a large sword after, knowing the daggers were just a way for him to taunt, as Sora was sure that his sword techiques would not be so easy to see coming and evade. Not wanting to give him the chance to find out, knowing he had to give it all he had to restore the Cornerstone and the castle for the King, he used the energy of the physical objects thrown at him and instantly shifted into Counterguard to make several counter-slashes of Light at the powerful Heartless.
Perhaps even as powerful as his duel with Sephiroth... the battle for the Cornerstone had begun.
(OOC: Ferser, if you feel outmatched, you can summon any Lesser Heartless to your disposal or even a Boss Heartless if you like. Up to you.)

The ring of bright eyes and dark atmosphere seemed to enclose oppressively upon Gilgamesh. There had been a lot before, but they just kept coming. Even now they must have gotten back four times the number he had killed with his entrance. It was as if they were trying to make up for being conspicuously absent from the rest of the traveler’s journey through the castle. From what he could tell they seemed weak, so the numbers could have been a means of making up for their general lack of combat ability. Like locusts on the cities of Egypt, whatever the hell an Egypt was. Then again, there were also some larger ones mixed into the mob. They looked exactly like their miniature kin though, so that size might be their only real advantage. Time would tell, he guessed.
“Huh? Who are you?” Gilgamesh turned his head back to the boy, having actually forgotten him for a second. He seemed a bit young to be wading into armies of shadowy beasties, but given his experience with Krile he wasn’t about to write anyone out for their age. Besides, he straight-up stabbed a girl close to his age on Gaia. It wasn’t like he was one to make commentary on the well being of minors. “You’re in luck, cuz I’m the mighty Gilgamesh!” He arced his arm into an enthusiastic flex at this. “I don’t really get the whole situation, but as long as I’m here you’re on the winning side for sure!” His eyes momentarily dropped to the weapon he held; some kind of key-shaped sword. Pfft, what a dumb weapon! he exclaimed silently. It definitely couldn’t be important or legendary at all.
And then, all about him, the amassing army moved in. With a triumphant shout the dimensional collector turned back to his side, leaving the kid to take whatever came at his back. If there was one thing Gilgamesh loved more than a good brawl, it was a good brawl against overwhelming odds while you’re back-to-back with a partner! He hoped he would have the opportunity to try it with Bartz sometime, should they ever meet up again. He stepped forward, dipping and diving amid the approaching creatures as his flailing speartip found their soft fronts one-by-one. He ducked under a Neo Shadow’s claw, swept the legs out from under it, and deftly kicked it back into the oncoming mob as it hung in midair. There were a lot of these guys, but as long as he only had to worry about one direction they would have trouble swarming him. Finally he could see one of the larger Shadows lumbering in, towering well over its lessers. Gilgamesh positioned the spear at an angle behind his back, taunting the giant with a three-fingered “come get some” gesture. And much to his surprise.....it did not. In fact, the entire mob seemed to stop and creep back, as though in difference to something.
“Ha! Check it out, they’re afraid of us already!” He turned back to face his shorter comrade-in-arms, only to find that his excitement was not shared. Confused, he followed the boy’s gaze and found a wholly new individual standing at what had been the entrance. Some white-haired guy in his late twenties or early thirties looking like he owned the place. Based on the exchange he had with the kid he probably did think he owned the place. Well there was a new owner in town, and he was fixin’ for some real estate! The man withdrew several objects from his pockets, and before Gilgamesh could determine what they were he had flung his arms out in an arc and sent the projectiles his way. He moved into them as a charge, twirling his spear to deflect several. One slipped through though, cutting into his thigh as he ran. The injury itself was superficial, but almost instantly he felt a sense of weakness wash over him. Huh? Don’t tell me this guy uses poison! Of all the cheap..... He did not back down though. The toxin-free young man made it first for his attack, so Gilgamesh tried to come in from the side and aim his spear for the other guy’s lower body.

(I should be okay ^^. But thank you for giving me the option. I'll keep it in mind.)
Ferser laid low for a bit, watching the two of them fight with the Heartless. He studied each of their movements, studying how they fought. It was always good to know your opponent before commencing a battle. Yes it was a bit tricky, since they would not know his attacks. Pretty sneaky and low, but that was alright for Ferser. It was more of a bad guy-like thing anyway. It was good that he happened to be a bad guy himself. Though he did want the two of them to put him in some pain. Pain was just addicting to Ferser. He loved to feel it. It was almost like an addictive drug to this Heartless. Only too much pain could easily be the cause of his own demise, as death could follow behind. But Ferser was far too cocky to be afraid of death. Death was never going to catch him.
Ferser noted in paticular how skilled the boy seemed. It probably has to do with that weapon of his...the keyblade. He eyed it while he lurked quietly, not exactly believing the true power of this keyblade. He had heard quite a bit about it, and knew many wanted to harness it's power. But was it really that great? Could it really cause that much pain? That was the thing that Ferser was most interested in. A sword just seemed so much more likely to inflict pain. He could just picture the blood on his own sword as he thought about it. His sword was just as thirsty for the blood as he was. And Ferser was going to provide. Tired of lurking in the shadows, Ferser decided it was time to make himself known to these two brats.
He let out a laugh at the words spoken by the kid. Very typical of a hero. He definitely had that whole "hero" vibe about him. The other guy, not as much. "My, someone is feeling pretty confident." Ferser remarked. "I'd knock off crap like that if I were you..." At his starting attack, Ferser watched the kid guard the kunai. He was impressed. Turning his attention to the other punk, Ferser smirked when one of his kunai had hit successfully. He could tell easily that the main was in pain from the poison, but he was trying not to show it. He had to at least call him out on this. Something like that was just too pathetic. "Trying to be a tough guy, eh? I don't like wannabe tough guys. Just a bunch of assholes." Ferser said, though he was almost cut off by an attack from that same man. He was surprised that this guy still had the strength to attack. At the attack, Ferser clutched where he was attacked and he looked down. Only...he didn't appear to be in pain. He was laughing.
"Is that seriously the best you can do? You punks are gonna make this a piece of cake for me!" Ferser yelled out as he turned his attention back to the Cornerstone. The kid started to aim some sort of attack at him. Not being a complete idiot, Ferser knew he could not take too many attacks. So he chose to dodge this one, moving in one swift motion. The kid was going to have to pay for that move though. He had already managed to cause some pain to Gilgamesh, so now the keyblader had to suffer as well. Without another thought, Ferser charged at the teenage boy and he tried slashing down on him hard with his sword. His eyes had a look of complete insanity in them. He was far from sane in the battlefield.

Dashing forward with his counter-attack, slashes of light streaming behind the tip of his keyblade teeth as they lit up and tore through the darkness, Sora inhaled and gasped slightly at the same time in surprise. He did not expect the Human Heartless to completely dodge his attack altogether, as fast as it had been, recycling the recoil of energy he had endured from the obvious daggers that were thrown his way. Much like the Light it left behind from the attack, Counterguard was a very rapid attack... but Sora had been right when he had the feeling this guy was just as fast and powerful as some of the many opponents he had faced before... and having evaded his hasty attack had only proved that fact. But now wasn't the time to dwell on how accurate his attack was or not, he had to keep his head in the battle, the past didn't matter. Only the now, and he took a moment as his mind caught up with his body, letting sink in the information he had took in during the past few seconds.
So the man helping him fight the Heartless was... Gilgamesh? What a strange name, but he didn't dwell on that either. Like Auron, he was a mysterious warrior that had come to help Sora that gave little about himself, despite the fact he had a very high confidence that they were going to win. Either he was extremely brave, had a high opinion of himself... maybe both, but it didn't matter. Sora felt he would get to know him one of the best ways he got to know most of his closest friends, and that was fighting side-by-side along them in the thick of combat. As long as Sora and Gilgamesh quickly adapted and learned not only from their opponent's fighting styles, but that of each other, they could defend the Cornerstone until it's light was restored.
All of this registered within the young man's spiky brown head as he blew past the human Heartless and turned around quickly to react to the villain's own counter-attack... this one was a lot faster than Sora's, and was more successful because the keyblade master had his back to the Heartless at the time as he executed his counter-attack. He felt the sting of the sword slice through his back, his back arching and spiky head thrown backwards in pain, as the momentum of the force and his body screaming at him to immediately get away from the source of the pain his muscles and nerves felt sent him staggering forwards away from the Horseman, creating some distance between them. Sora stumbled forward as his recoil from the attack, sent his head thrusting forwards as his large shoes dug into the paved floor to stop his balance from being lost and tumbling clumsily into the floor, his leg muscles only adding to the pain. Having felt the sensation several times over, Sora was more used to the sensation though, and changing his mind un-anchored his feet and let the momentum instinctively barrel him into a dodge roll. As he tumbled literally head over heals as he righted himself, he curved his roll back towards Ferser to follow up with another quick attack, in order to quickly close the distance between them and save himself from getting hit by another volley of what looked like poisonous daggers that had slowed Gilgamesh.
He had magic to heal himself and Gilgamesh, but didn't think it would cure poison effects, so he would have to watch Gilgamesh's condition and rejuvenate him if his damage started to look critical. Handling what he could for the moment, which was himself in retrospect to the powerful Heartless man, he pushed away the stinging sensation of the blow inflicted on him his nervous system was yelling at him in agony for. Pushing off with his feet, he instantly closed the distance in a matter of seconds, sliding across the floor and attempting to hit Ferser with his Sliding Dash technique. His keyblade was held diagonally down at an angle in front of him as he plowed forward, like a cowcatcher on front of a speeding train, in preparation for his finishing move on the ground. Having more freedom and speed with his attacks in the air, much like his name translated into, Sora flung his keyblade upwards towards Ferser in case his first combo strike missed to fling him upwards towards the ceiling with his ability Upper Slash.

Gilgamesh felt the opposing force upon his spear that marked a hit. It was a clean strike, if with minimal vital damage to it. Probably the best hit he got since his fight with the boy/girl on Gaia, and that had practically crippled her. This guy was as good as done! But then, as if to nullify any satisfaction he might feel, the man simply laughed off the blow and trash-talked them. What a gyp! The worst part was that he was feeling the poison now. Like, really feeling it. It would take a while to kill him at this rate, but fighting while some toxin dissolved your arteries was near the top of his “annoying” list. Seriously, poison!? Did this guy think he was a ninja or something? Of course, this would just make it all the more satisfying when the Ancient Man of Mystery broke his pansy-ass strategy in half.
Lagging behind considerably following his attack, Gilgamesh was in the prime position to watch the kid and the white-haired creep go at it. Namely, when the brunet took a nasty looking slash to his back. He visibly winced at this, but noted that the boy managed to not only remain standing, but actually charged back in for more! The back attack had forced the two to swap positions, meaning the crimson-clad swordsman was now behind their foe: In other words, out of sight. Eyes narrowing, he channeled into his more arcane powers, bringing forth a healing effect to soothe the poison presently using his circulatory system as a transit station. A multitude of green lights soundlessly sparkled about his body, signaling the activation of Regen. This would not rid himself of the inward attacker, nor would it restore the damage already done. However, as one brought ruin to his systems, the other would rejuvenate the dying cells, canceling the two effects out. Gilgamesh was back on normal, baby!
He wanted to toss another one to his partner so that he might be rid of his gaping wound, but that would ruin his chance. Right now Gilgamesh was pretty sure he had an opening, and he would be a fool not to exploit it. His vibrant garb whipped about at his trail as he broke into a dash, beelining for the enemy’s back. A childish sort of laughter escaped his lungs as he drew closer, more than pleased at the retribution he was itching to deliver. “Hey, genius! Next time get a poison that doesn’t suck!” Noting that the boy was aiming an attack of his own, the swordsman thrust his spear into the ground, creating a spider’s web of cracks where the tip pierced the stone. Now with a fixed point for leverage, he maintained a grip on the shaft and swung his body horizontally upon it, curling his knees as he entered a rotation. With any luck he would strike the filthy venom-using bastard in the back hard enough to stun him, giving the kid’s attack a better chance to hit.
