Evil tastes the tears of fear! tearing down your helpless fate
Vanitas smirked and began his laugh, low for now, but slowly rising in pitch and volume. “You really believe that, don’t you?” He really did! The boy really though he’d be able to defeat Vanitas a second time around, or even stop him from harming his precious friends Terra and Aqua. Terra had stopped Ventus from being killed by Eraqus. Aqua had stopped Vanitas from unleashing chaos with the χ-blade! What did the boy Ventus think he could do? He’d barely stopped Vanitas in the Dive to the Heart, upon that tower, and even after it smashed! What did this blonde Loser think he was going to do?! “You really think you could stop me if I wanted to do that?” his laughing reached it’s most serial-killer like it had ever sounded, showing how mad--and possibly insane--the boy in the mask had come. Yes, insane. That was the right word. Insane. “You’re useless to me!” Vanitas yelled, the darkness filling him with power and ebbing off of him. “You always were, always have been, and always will be! I don’t need you anymore! I’ll forge the χ-blade with someone who can actually fight! You tried the pacifist act once, and it didn’t work. Do I need to slaughter everything to show you how much that doesn’t work?!” Vanitas was speaking crazy now, the words fueling him with hate and Anger. The boy was weak. “You rely so much on your friends! You don’t even know how to fight and defend yourself without them! They made you weak!”The darkness was like a sickness, ebbing off him and coating the area. His shadow was growing, a figure forming from it just as Black as Vanitas was. Chains seemed to form around the shadows as Vanitas grinned, yet glared, at Ventus. “You were always weak. Even when whole you were weak. I remember. I don’t know how Xehanort ever thought we’d merge. Your weakness kept us from becoming whole, truly whole!”And there it was. Deep within Vanitas’s words were the words he spoke. He wanted to be whole. His fractured heart desired to be whole. He wished to be a single entity again, longing for Ventus like he did all those years ago. But he was weak, Ventus was weak, which made Vanitas the superior half, and the half that had to rule! The emotion was reflected so deeply of being bound in chain to Ventus, that it showed when the chains formed into the Iron Prisoner behind him, looming down from above. |

Ven decided to take the laughter as a bad sign.
The sudden shift from a strangely talkative Vanitas to a Vanitas that was laughing and yelling at him was a startling one, and Ven was starting to regret not trying to escape when he had the chance. But if it was going to end the same way as before… he'd rather get it over with before he got too attached to being around again.
Although he had a feeling the questions weren't meant to be answered, Ven could feel the voice of reason in his head failing. Maybe he just couldn't hear it over Vanitas' laughter; that was a possibility. "I have to try," he answered, more to himself than Vanitas at his question of whether he thought he could stop him. He repeated this in his mind as he steeled himself for whatever was about to happen. Guess it's too late to run.
Did he think he could defeat Vanitas? He'd been asleep for who knew how long, his heart trying to recover somewhere between light and darkness with the help of someone he'd never met in person, and believe it or not those things tended to not help him train or stay at top form. Likely he could not. But he had to try.
He stumbled back a little as Vanitas' yelling increased in volume, eyes widening as he clutched his keyblade tighter. "If you don't need me for anything, why did you even bother looking for me?!" The voice was yelling "shut up Ven, shut up!" but it was completely ignored now as Ventus was hit with insults and a strange wave of darkness that seemed to be pouring out of Vanitas. Something was forming out of it, and Ven didn't like the look of it. His head snapped from the shadow to its source, Vanitas, as it continued speaking.
Whole? Vanitas wanted to be whole? But that was just to make the X-Blade, right? But he said he was going to just use someone else for it, someone else- This was too much for Ven to comprehend, really. He was not knowledgable to Vanitas' thoughts, and while he too was only a fractured heart he had grown without the knowledge that he was such a thing. Would he have felt different, otherwise? When he saw Vanitas on the balcony, he'd been surprised and then angry that they was still separate… but that was because Vanitas was a threat that he'd rather not have around… right? He didn't know. Vanitas was starting to alarm him with the way he was acting, so he supposed he shouldn't take what he said too seriously.
And, now was not the time for thinking.
"You're wrong!" He yelled back, dancing on the spot as he hopped away from the giant Unversed that had appeared. "It's not my friends that make me weak. If I'm weak it's because of me. They give me something to shoot for. And I'm gonna stop you no matter what. So, you're wrong!"
Fighting Vanitas was hardly at the top of Ven's list of things to do, considering the possible consequences, but there was really little choice in the matter at the moment. He would try to stop the Unversed, and then… He would think of something. He had to think of something. Maybe he was "weak," and preferred to "play the pacifist" with Vanitas. Maybe he couldn't win, but he owed it to everyone to do what he could.
Suddenly he charged forward, leaping into the air and preparing to bring his keyblade down on the Unversed quick as a flash, hoping it would connect and he could continue for another hit or two afterwards in the same manner.

Evil tastes the tears of fear! tearing down your helpless fate
Funny how well the Unversed Symbolized the very emotions of Vanitas when he best couldn’t show them. Take the very Iron Prisoner who now floated behind Vanitas. Bound in chain, forced to exist based solely on the purpose of another. It was the perfect symbolization of Vanitas towards Ventus. He was trapped, forever existing only because of Ventus. And yet, despite breaking free of that somehow, both now standing here, separate once more, they looked upon one another, and Vanitas felt only contempt. Contempt for the blond boy and his ability to have friends. Contempt that those friends would help him. Contempt at how weak it made him. Contempt at the fact that, being a part of him, Ventus made Vanitas weak. Like a Cancer growing and forming, the blonde kid, the loser, just kept being there, infecting Vanitas to be weak. No, no more. He was done listening, done talking, done EXISTING alongside this kid.
The kid was spewing something about his friend’s making him strong or something, but Vanitas cared little. It was better both of them were just left Forgotten in this world than to exist once more alongside one another. Yet the question still nagged Vanitas, even as he took the stance and summoned his key blade to his hand. Why were they still around? Why weren’t they dead? Why could he not feel Ventus like before? Could Ventus sense the same? The feel of being… being…
Disconnected
The Blitz worked, at least on the Iron Prisoner behind Vanitas. From the angle, Vanitas looked to have possibly been caught in the attack, but a quick After-Image left him behind Ventus just as the blitz finished, bringing his key blade down on the boy and releasing the dark lightning of Thundaga as his key blade connected to the ground, whether it hit Ventus or not. It left Ventus in a Rock an a hard place, between Vanitas and the Iron Prisoner. Almost simultaneously, both Vanitas and the Iron Prisoner attacked, Vanitas moving to strike a quick combo with his key blade while the Iron Prisoner Swung the Gibbet it was bound to around in an attempt to blunt force smack Ventus. Whether connected or not, Vanitas would bounce back a few, but not too far. He had to keep the mouse cornered, or the cat might lose it’s prey. |

As soon as Ven felt his keyblade make contact with the large Unversed there was a sound behind him. Twirling on the spot, Ven narrowly avoided Vanitas' blade but was hit with a shock of lightning. A strained sound of pain escaped his mouth as the electricity coursed through his body; there was a sensation he would have rather avoided. Feeling slightly numb from the shock for a few seconds too long, he was hit by Vanitas' second attack but managed to roll away before the combo was completed, heart pounding. Less lucky was the fact that he was suddenly trapped between the duo.
He still felt as though his best bet was to take on the Unversed first due to the unpredictability a true battle between him and Vanitas would bring, so in an attempt to distract Vanitas Ven turned to the side, hurling his keyblade towards the other boy to try and at least keep his attention if not hit him. Taking this chance to rush to turn on the spot, Ven made an attempt to run around the side of the Iron Prisoner, turning his head slightly to catch his returning keyblade in his outstretched hand. As it was caught the weapon suddenly glowed a low blue, and Ven noticeably sped up as he charged at the Unversed to attack. Slashing left and right, Ventus assaulted the creature as quickly as he could, hardly pausing to take a breath.
Wasn't this what he'd wanted? To fight Vanitas? Well, it was hardly what he wanted. If Ven had it his way, they'd never have separated again in the first place. Vanitas would have ceased to exist. But was Vanitas right? Was he really the stronger half? When they had tried to merge last time, it had been Vanitas on the outside after all. But Ven had put an end to that from the inside. Would that be the way of things this time? Suddenly he was questioning everything again. Truth be told, he sort of felt like screaming. Better yet, asking someone else what to do.
But there was no one to ask. Just him, Vanitas, and the strange thing wrapped in chains. Although he would refuse to admit it, Ven was suddenly gripped with a childlike fear; he didn't know what to do. Where to turn, what path to take, what to do about Vanitas, his other half- what was he supposed to do?! Frustrated, Ven gave another slash at the Unversed before trying to sidestep it, making an attempt to glance back at Vanitas to keep track of his actions. He was going to have to make a break for it the soonest chance he had.
Someone had once told him that retreat was not always something to be ashamed of. Sometimes, it was better to revisit a battle when you were better prepared. Ven had no idea who had told him that, although it sounded like something Master Eraqus had once said. Either way, there had to be something he could learn, some way of fixing this situation… but how?

The boy was still quick it seemed, but not quick enough. With the lightning have struck home and hit Ventus, Vanitas could only grin that same slasher smile he grinned so well. He had continued the assualt and was glad to get another attack in before the boy rolled, Letting Vanitas re-acclimate his bearings and look to Ventus. What little mind there was left was gone. It was all battle now, and his movements and face showed it. If Vanitas didn’t finish him off, the Prisoner would. If the Prisoner didn’t, Vanitas would. The boy was cornered and trapped, prey to the predators at large. But it seemed this prey would not go down without a fight. Didn’t they also say cat’s enjoyed playing with their food?
The Keyblade coming at him did little to phase Vanitas as he was quick, embuded by the Darkness. Even as Ventus prepared his own set to deal with the speed at qhich Vanitas could move, Vanitas had leapt up and over the key blade in a backflip, then landing on the ground with his feet and one hand low enough to once more dodge the key blade on the rebound. It was a narrow dodge, and Vanitas was sure he could feel the hilt graze the top of his hair on the rebound, but he had dodged it still. However, the boy had gotten closer to the Iron prisoner it seemed, connecting the creature with two hits, then a third. Well, he’d regret that, as soon after the Iron prisoner began to spin, it’s gibblet catching fire and spinning madly towards Ventus to strike him as the chains began to shatter, forcing it into a second mode.
Using the chance of distraction on Ven, Vanitas Pointed his key blade aat the boy and let a spike of ice shoot from it towards the boy, unguided by anything but the brief moment of aiming when he sent it out. But Vanitas was not done. He swing his he blade before him, summoning three dark crystals before him. They swirled in a triangular form, projecting rays of negative energy to a center and out, aimed right for Ventus. If this didn’t end the boy, what came next surely would, as he prepared to get the Last Word in. |

Fire flashed in Ventus' vision as the Iron Prisoner began to spin. Leaping backwards, his eyes widened as he felt the heat on his face. He'd have to try and avoid the creature as it didn't show any signs of stopping yet, twirling around and shooting flames everywhere. Suddenly, his mind went to the balconies of the buildings above- would anything catch on fire?! It was not, after all, a big alleyway. His feet suddenly took him to the waterway, splashing the water everywhere as he ran in it, wondering if there was some way that he could use it-
His thoughts were interrupted by a blast of ice that caught him off guard and tossed him into the wall of the alley and then down into the water. That was an unfortunate hazard of being light on your feet- when you were actually hit it only made things worse. Stunned for a moment, Ven jumped up, spitting out a mouthful of water before taking several deep, shaky breaths. The wind had been knocked out of him a little, and he was mentally chastising himself for not paying enough attention. There was only so much room to dodge in this alley, but he was fast enough. He knew he was fast enough. He was just… out of practice.
It was one thing to take out the strange "heartless" and the weaker Unversed, but quite another to be fighting against a huge creature and Vanitas. A childish thought hit him- he was out of practice, but was Vanitas? Or was he once again one-upping Ventus? Hadn't they both been "out of the picture" for the same amount of time, whatever that was? It didn't seem fair, but then it had been like that before… he thought, anyway. There were still huge gaps in his memory that to him were simply missing, but he was pretty sure that had been the way of things. And here he was, thinking to try and run away.
Ven took a step forward as if to charge, readying his keyblade for another combo on the Unversed (which had hopefully stopped spinning by now). He could tell he only had so much time before his command style wore out, returning him to a slower (if still not fast in general) state. He sprung forwards, blade ready, spinning on the spot to slash at the creature again and again, hoping it would connect. FInally with a burst of speed he speed forwards through that air for one final flurry of attacks before he fell to the ground, a few rays of light splashing out from where his feet made contact. He backed up to try and avoid any retaliation when a sudden pain in his back made him gasp aloud.
Once again thrown off by the fact that he was facing two foes, Ven had neglected to keep Vanitas in his sights and upon turning around this time to see several floating crystals shooting some sort of unpleasant energy at him. Ven rolled out of the way but that didn't seem to stop the pursuit- trying to think, in pain, Ven headed behind the creature once more in an attempt to avoid it (although he knew something worse was coming), eyes lighting up at a sudden idea.
He tried to calm himself (in a situation like this, a little harder than he'd thought) and focus.. There wasn't much time, but he was going to have to try. The seconds seemed to take hours, but finally he was set and he jumped, small rays of light surrounding him as he sped towards the Unversed for an attack, and then just as suddenly at Vanitas (trying to prepare himself mentally for the dark rays that he was headed right into; those were going to hurt when he was done). Finally, he span in the air, keyblade following, as the wind listened to his call and sped around him as well, whipping up a small whirlwind before Ven fell back to the ground once more.

Evil tastes the tears of fear! tearing down your helpless fate
Theme: N/A Tagged: Vani, Ventus Comments: VANI HAS LEFT. Iron Prisoner will remain till defeated.
Seeing the Blizzard strike hit was exactly what Vanitas had hoped for, followed by his own strikes. Ventus was weak, and Vanitas was clearly superior in every way. There was no denying it, and no way around it. Both might have been out of practice, but even out of practice, Vanitas was, quite clearly, kicking Ventus to the dirt. Bringing his key blade above his shoulder, Vanitas waisted no time and readied himself. He would end this now. He would get in his Last Word while the Iron Prisoner, broken free of chains, shot it’s own Laser aimed at Ventus. Just as he had planned to do so many years ago, he would end Ventus and become the rightful ruler of the χ-blade.
He swung, and as his arm moved, time seemed to suddenly stop. There was a feeling, a sensation, a calling. Somewhere out there, he was being… pulled, summoned. He could feel the tug on his dark heart, his vision blackening briefly and showing what seemed almost the be the Land of Departure, but in ruins and with storms. Before the gates stood a figure in a black cloak, and next to him, a bald one in a silver longcoat. The recognition was there, and he could see and feel them. Sienna eyes looked to him, and he could feel it. That dark call of his master. It was like all the cogs, wires, and screws had suddenly fixed themselves, putting themselves back into place and the broken state of Vanitas snapping back to correct form. He snapped out of his daze as his key blade sliced through the three crystals before him, creating shattered shards that were now throwing themselves at Ventus at high speed.
“He calls…” he said after the strike had finished, quickly teleporting behind Ventus and blasting him in the back with his Firaga spell as a means to throw him off a distract him. This fight was now meaningless, and senseless violence, while perfect chaos, would not serve him in the long run. He needed out, and the Iron Prisoner would continue the assault perfectly for now, transforming into yet another mode now as he summoned a large hammer to bring down on Ventus. With a quick movement some distance wass put between Ventus and Vanitas, and Vanitas pulled up his mask to cover his face from the darkness. “Maybe you’ll be more of a challenge next time.”
With that, Vanitas disappeared in a Dark corridor. |

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,480px,true][atrb=cellpadding,3px,true][atrb=cellspacing,3px,true][bg=939d8f] When you feel you're alone, cut off from this cruel world
Your instincts telling you to run; listen to your heart "Donald? Donald!"
It had only been a few minutes ago Sora had been talking to his group of friends; both Donald being a known one and the new friends of Terra, Bonnie, Anja and Ramza. Before they all decided it was time to part ways he had invited the Court Magician to join him on his adventures again, but not he was having trouble finding where he had gone and why, and decided to check eventually down the alleyway behind the motel. He couldn't tell what time it was in the world that always seemed to be bathed in eternal night, but the wind picked up every now and again with a slight chill, and the sky overhead had light grey outcast clouds that only every now and then had a small opening in which to look up into the sea of stars. Which made it darker than usual, but Sora kept a eye on the shadows, wary and cautiously optimistic as usual for any new Heartless in the next area.
But what he found there, was not Heartless this time.
As he pushed open the door, he immediately head sound of a fight and flashes of light and silhouettes being thrown up against the wall like some violent storm of shadow puppetry, indicating something was going on around the corner. He dashed around closer to the wall, uttering a breathless "Roxas!" as he recognized the familiar spiky blond hair akin to his own and the blue eyes of his Nobody. Before his Other could react, he had already stepped in front of him and used Guard to block the lasers triangulating towards them, his mind quickly catching up to what his body instinctively pushed him in front of as he recognized the Iron Imprisoner Unversed. He wasn't sure what kind of attack the lasers were based on, but he would soon find out, looking out from behind the diagonal keyblade he held out to see the back of a already darkening figure in a Dark Form exiting via a Corridor. "Riku?" he called, but the shadow of a boy did not turn nor reply as the shadows closed the portal behind him, and the Unversed move to attack.
This attack was more familiar to him as the hammer came down for Ventus, having faced it's most powerful form from before and having defeated it with a little help from his friends Laguna, Rapunzel, and of course the guy standing right behind him. He immediately used Reflega, a dome prism of light forming around him and the boy he was covering protectively, and depending on how the hammer hit him it would soon explode outwards in flashes of damaging light around them. While casting the spell, he continued to hold his keyblade before him, his feet paced apart as they dug into the ground and sent pain through his knees from the sheer force of the Unversed. Hopefully Roxas could get a shot in while he played defense, since he was the more offensive fighting style between the two of them, while he was the technical one. "Roxas, be careful, remember how we fought it last time? I'll cover you!" he yelled over the deafening sounds of the battle while magic flew and metal weapons clashed, putting complete trust in his counterpart despite not having noticed how his clothing was extremely different.
Even though he wasn't completely facing him, he... he felt something was different. Like... somehow his heart recognized something that had been whole was now separate. How did that even make sense? His heart couldn't even explain the sensation, but it felt like words or a song that he had forgotten, and what order they went in or the lyrics that came back to him, reminding him the more it returned to his senses. On the tip of of his tongue, on the back of his mind, and he blinked for a fraction of a second as he recalled a similar sensation a few weeks back before.
~Three weeks ago~
And then he found himself again. There was only darkness again, and then... a light, that when focused sharpened into lines and colors of a hauntingly familiar platform in the middle of the darkness, illuminated stain-glass material stronger than any glass that seemed to appear seemlessly beneath his feet. The picture, refracting light from it's circular pattern and surface like a pristine pane of glass, showed that of two people sitting back to back. They were standing, eyes open, both hands holding the handle a silhouette of a very large and ornate keyblade. One was clearly the modern-day Kairi; his most important memory and person, his special sweetheart, the one whom he housed in his heart and was willing to sacrifice himself in order to save and free her. The other was Roxas, his other half; at least he thought it was, but he was wearing... the Dark Form suit that Riku once had under Xehanort's influence. As he recognized portraits of Aqua, Donald, Goofy and Riku in the background, he had to ask himself what did this mean?
He looked away from the decorative floor when suddenly he held his hand to his chest, feeling like his heart wanted to leap out of his chest; but a warm sensation like was saying goodbye to someone he held dearly in his heart. Something apart from his own heart, the recollection slowly dawning once again on him that he could feel someone calling out from here to another world, someone whom that once was in pain now he could follow his heart with in feeling they just needed to go. Some connection he could feel that wanted to come to life, a familiar warmth from young ago when he was just a little boy that was beginning to wake up, that wanted to be free. "You're one of the people who have been waiting for me all this time; haven't you?" he quietly smiled, his eyes closed, not needing his blue azures to see the kindness and vibrancy for life in this person's heart.
He cupped his hands over his chest, and feeling it come out, he opened his eyes to see the sparkling lights of a brilliant light of a heart come out from where his own should be. It wasn't his own; he could only hazard a guess who it was, and since he could read it was not his own heart in his hands that the only one it could have been was his Nobodies.
"I guess you have your own heart now... huh, Roxas? I didn't think it was possible, but... you're healed, and even though you're still sad, deep down, you want to heal other's sadness too. Don't you." He smiled, holding up the spherical light of the heart he mistook was the one his own body and soul had somehow earned seperately from his, and lifted it up until it no longer needed his guidance like a fragile bird with a recovered wing ready to be set free to the sky. He watched as the heart lifted up higher and higher into the light above, listening for any words it would say he could hear with his heart, not his ears, as he closed his eyes and returned to the world beyond.
"I'll see you soon."
~End Flashback~
Sora opened his eyes on the other end of the blink he had made, the memory floating back into his thoughts as he felt the... the sincerity of the other male behind him as easily as if it were a color or the light, and wondered if somehow Roxas had somehow been granted a light of his own after all his hardship, too.

Whispers. There were people whispering. The voices floated down to him from what seemed like miles, vague and unrelated to whatever it was he was doing. What… was he doing? He wasn't sure. There was darkness all around him, but not the sort of darkness that he associated with Vanitas or people who had used it against him. It was more like it was darkness… because there was a lack of anything else. He couldn't see anything- he could hardly feel anything but a strange, numb sensation.
Was he asleep?
Maybe. He thought he'd been having the strangest dream… The whispers continued on, getting slightly louder with each word. He wanted to ask them to be quiet, because he was trying to think here. What had his dream been about? There was a boy and a girl and another boy, and they were friends. That much he could tell. They were on a familiar island… But, it wasn't him, Aqua, and Terra.
…Aqua and Terra?
At the thought of his friends, the darkness around him seemed to lighten a little. The numbness was fading, being replaced by the feeling of pins and needles one feels when a limb has fallen asleep. Aqua and Terra, Terra and Aqua… His friends. His best friends. Where were they? They weren't here in this darkness, right? When had he seen them last? It hurt to remember, deep in his heart as a feeling of failure and concern flooded him, surprising him with it's sharpness and clarity.
The whispers grew louder.
Vanitas- at the thought of him once more, the darkness threatened to close back in as if to say, not yet, not yet, but he continued on with his confused train of thought- he had been defeated. He'd destroyed them both… But then, why was he here? Was Vanitas here, too? He couldn't tell. He reached deep inside himself, but it was like trying to grab at smoke. If Vanitas and he had merged for good… It wasn't clear. It was like something was slipping away from him once more, but instead of falling into darkness something else grabbed at him and began tugging on him, pulling him upwards.
He could understand the whispering, now.
"You're one of the people who have been waiting for me all this time; haven't you?"
Waiting. Had he been waiting? It felt like it, if he thought about it. It felt like he'd been here a long time, biding his time. …Healing? It wasn't a bad place to heal. As he emerged from the strange state he had been in, he realized that he was really surrounded by light. A warm, familiar light that he remembered now as someone's heart. The whispers must have belonged to that person, but they were no longer whispers. They were ringing in clear, reaching his heart as he felt a buzz of energy filling him. Memories were flooding back into him so quickly he felt like he was going to explode. The tugging sensation was pulling at him again, so there was no time to stay. Rising once more, he could sense the boy's heart; his station of awakening, suddenly splitting off from his own before it all faded, his heart attempting to reach out one last time with a rush of gratitude.
Thank you.
[/color] Everything was so bright, he didn't realize his eyes were open for a few minutes. When he did, he gave a start, arms groping around him and shaking a little. What was he doing?! Ventus' eyes travelled around the room, blinking at the stark whiteness surrounding him. What was happening?! Suddenly, everything hit him like a ton of bricks. He gave a deep breathe to try and calm himself, then raise a shaking hand to his chest. He was here, right now, alive. This wasn't a dream. Everything felt almost too realistic in comparison to his previously foggy existence. It was all too sharp. Putting a hand to his head, he tried to piece everything together, but it was hard. It was as if he had been suddenly cut off from something, a feeling of connection that disappeared. It was strange but… He found that he missed that feeling, almost. He clumsily reached a hand into his pocket, pulling out his green Wayfinder. His friends. Hope starting to form in him, slowly at first through his groggy confusion, but coming in clearer as he clutched the good luck charm tighter. Aqua, Terra. All the rest of their friends. What had happened after Vanitas took over? Ven didn't have the faintest of clues, but he was going to find out. Carefully, he stood up, turning on the spot in the white room and trying to ignore a pang of familiarly and sadness at the sight. Had he been alone in here? Well, if so, he was certainly not going to spend any more time in it. He reached a hand on the doorknob, and took a step out.[/i] "WHO calls?!" Ven yelled in alarm at Vanitas, trying to outrun the crystals that were chasing him, wary of the lasers that were doing the same thing. He turned his head to look at the darker half, but that was immediately a mistake as he had teleported behind him and blasted him with fire. Yelling in alarm, Ven spun on the spot, glaring at Vanitas. He was feeling suddenly panicked, but he didn't know why. It wasn't as though he had been called out to, but like a puzzle pieces were falling together and he didn't like the picture they formed. Before he had a chance to speak, Vanitas had corridored out. "No!" A cry escaped him as he leapt with his keyblade at the spot the dark corridor had been seconds preciously. He couldn't let him leave, he was supposed to take care of this. Vanitas was his responsibility, and he had just slipped through his powerless fingers- Distracted, sloppy. Ven still hadn't regained all of his strength that he'd lost while he was asleep, and the Unversed's hammer fell towards him. A sudden spell stopped it, and for one wild moment Ven's heart soared. "Aqua?!" he thought briefly, whipping his head to see only to be greeted by the sight of a boy. Of course, it was silly to think it was her- it had been a male voice after all. Still, he was grateful, and he smiled in spite of the situation. "You're older than me, now." The sudden thought froze him in his tracks, but now was not the time and he was pulled back by the boy's instructions. Roxas? Who was Roxas? Well, he wasn't going to turn down help when he received it, so Ven focused on the task at hand. "Got it, Sora!" Hardly realizing that he'd said the boy's name, Ven took a step forward and suddenly his keyblade disappeared. While normally this would be an awful, horrible turn of events, the six vibrant blades of light that appeared behind his back in a flash led credence tot he idea that this was not, in fact, the end of the world. With a yell, Ven leapt at the creature, blades of light appearing in his hands whenever he needed to get an attack in. He slashed back and forth in a combo, swords appearing and disappearing at will before finally, to finish it, all six appeared in front of him falling down onto the creature. Ven fell lightly to the ground, readying himself for whatever might come next.[/blockquote][/justify] ---wingblade: in progress- 1 post remaining ---fever pitch: 1 post ---multivortex: 2 posts (TWO CAN PLAY AT THE FLASHBACK GAME!!!! okay sorry for rambling. xD )

Evil tastes the tears of fear! tearing down your helpless fate
Theme: Dearly Beloved Tagged: Vani Comments: Flashback of my own Also, Prisoner down.
Vanitas had stayed only long enough to see the arrivial of a boy in red, hair brown as dirt and spiked in such a familiar way. His guard, blocking the laser, while his Reflega kept himself and Ventus from being smacked undoubtedly against a wall with the large weighted hammer of the Iron Prisoner. For a brief moment Vanitas watched as the hammer swung back to damage the Unversed, and for a brief moment, his mind flittered elsewhere…
Dead… alive… asleep… awake… dreaming… nightmares… what was this darkness that surrounded the boy? It was not the darkness Vanitas had become accustomed to before his untimely defeat by Ventus and the girl Master Aqua. It was an empty sort of darkness, devoid of emotion, of rage, of feeling, of sense, or of life. It was disjointing, disconnecting, discording, and plain frightening, to be honest. He could not see, hear, feel, or sense anything in this darkness. He was alone, truly alone. He was no longer connected to his other half. For a brief, glittering moment, they had been connected… they were nearly whole again…and then they were severed even more brutally than before. Why? Were they destined to always be separate, never be whole? A broken heart cannot exist broken forever.
But then, somewhere in the darkness, there was whispers. A distant light, a familiar light. Ventus… he was there, he could feel it. He cried out for him, fled for him. Navigated the darkness, sought his other half out. They could be whole again. In this darkness, in the afterlife, they could be whole. The light was there, held by a young boy with brown hair. That hair… that face… this boy looked like he had once… but there was so much light coming from this boy. So many within his heart. And there, in his hand, was Ven’s heart. It was still broken, still incomplete. Ventus! Come back! He was floating away, disappearing into the Darkness! No… now Vanitas was being pulled. He was being pulled back to the darkness, but thrown elsewhere. There was another light, a feeling of being pulled back to senses, to touch, to sight, to sound.
He reached out, and he could feel a handle of a key blade as the hot wind hit his arm…
As the boy had looked over to Vanitas, Vanitas quickly turned at left. There was no need to let this boy see any more of him, and the Iron Prisoner could handle them both. You’ll be dealt with soon too Sora. he thought, not sure why he knew the name of the boy.
Meanwhile, once the hammer had nearly exploded in the face of the Iron Prisoner, in it’s moment of distraction it could not counter the attacks of Ventus as he began his comba, slicing away at the wekened body of the Prisoner. With all six swords having connected to the prisoner, the creature shook and fell, crashing into the street as it faded away into Darkness like all other Unversed, the key distinction between a Heartless and Unversed.

[atrb=border,0,true][atrb=width,480px,true][atrb=cellpadding,3px,true][atrb=cellspacing,3px,true][bg=939d8f] Those angel voices they'll sing to you
they'll be your guide; back home where life leaves us blind And how strong the light of the other keyblader was, as Sora watched as he pulled out of the air several swords of brilliant, pure light replacing his keyblade, watching in revered awe as they slashed mercilessly into the Unversed. The Iron Imprisoner then fell, much to Sora's surprise, either Roxas had grown even stronger than he was or they had fought a less powerful version of the one he had fought in Dwarf Woodlands, the latter making sense if he had just jumped in at the end of the fight. He watched as it faded to darkness, and waited for a moment, before sensing there was no other Unversed or other lesser enemies in the area. His Kingdom Key disappeared in a flash of light, and looking over to where the mysterious figure had been, he wondered for a moment if it really was Riku. No, it couldn't be; he had seen his friend recently at Disney Castle and he didn't doubt his friend was hiding any hidden darkness that he wasn't trying to protect Sora with, dismissing the thought as he turned back to Roxas.
"Hey, that was amazing! Nice work. You didn't even need me to slug him or anything." he smiled at his Nobody, not really taking in at the moment after the rush of battle the change in his clothes, just his other's expression. He seemed to appear tired after the battle, but also confused, and he couldn't help but wonder why at his perplexed state. Maybe he was puzzled about what that thing was, because it wasn't a average Heartless or Nobody? "Oh yeah, those things; they're called Unversed, and they're supposed to be made of negative emotions. I'm not sure where they come from or how many there are, but we'll wipe them out just like the Heartless and Nobodies." he explained, hoping that would help. He couldn't imagine what else the Key of Destiny would be disorientated about as he did the moment he had appeared to assist him.
"I wonder who that guy was, as I was told there was some guy wandering around with Riku's old Dark Form, by... oh, yeah! Hey, Axel's... well, he's not completely himself anymore, but it's not a bad thing. You should go reunite with him straight away, you'll see! Wouldn't want to spoil the surprise." he couldn't help but grin from ear to ear, still mistaking the boy before him as Roxas. The blond hair in that short spiky haircut almost simular to his own longer hairstyle, the eyes, there was no mistaking this could be anyone else... so why was his heart making him feel that this guy was the source of a pain he could feel from his heart? The same sort of heartache that he remembered feeling as a little kid from how emotionally intense it was, standing next to Riku that night, looking out into the nebula of stars as his friend suggested he close his eyes and reach out to him. That voice... it did sound familiar to the voice of this boy... but it was Roxas' voice? That was the confusing part. Instead of making himself feel lost again, he shook his head as if to shake the impulse to sate his curiosity, and looked at the friend he had with him in this moment. "Anyway, how are you? Haven't seen you since... well, you know, you left on your own. You've gotten a lot stronger, but... are you alright?"
