"Before arriving in Agrabah..."
She didn't quite remember what she was doing before she woke up in a heated desert. She could catch a few glimpses of Beat standing beside her bed, with a worried look on his face, before she went to sleep. She couldn't remember much before that, so she assumed that something must have happened while she was asleep.
"I'm sorry," she told them apologetically. "I can't remember much. It's too hard..." She worked some more on remember what had happened. They beat the game, with Neku, Shiki, and Beat. They went back to the real world, and they met up, and they hung out for the whole day. Upon reaching home, Beat and Rhyme retreated to their room. Suddenly, it jumped to the same memory again, the one where Beat was standing beside her bed as she was about to fall asleep. Something must have happened between the time I got home and the time before I went to bed... she thought to herself. In a situation like this, it might have been best to tell the other what she was thinking, but she couldn't help feeling a bit insecure, due to the situation. She decided with a slight nod to herself that she would tell them later, if she ever needed to.
"Yes, I'm sorry. I can't remember much," she apologized, chuckling sheepishly. "I'm still a bit fuzzy." She bowed her head, looking at her hands. She didn't have much to say.
Maybe I can learn about them, she thought. You should always learn about the person before you start a conversation. And if we're going to somehow be traveling together, we might as well know about each other...
"I'm from a place called Shibuya," she told them. "It's a really big city, and people are everywhere. The streets are crowded with people!" She smiled, remembering her home. "At night, there are lights everywhere. It's really pretty."
"One of my favourite places to go was a place called Cat Street. It had a cute little café that I loved. They had the best coffee."
Rhyme turned to the both of them. "Whereare you guys from? What are your homes like?"

The Thief of Light looked over the lay out thus far and found himself a move that'll really give a big advantage against Beast. The Beast, first off, placed a piece at F6, I9, which flipped over the two pieces above it at spots F6, H8 and F6, G7. Beast had developed a solid line, in which he could keep dominance in, that was for sure. However, to counter a solid, straight forward line like this, the Thief simply had to place a piece diagonal of on the ends, then follow through until reaching the side and proclaim dominance by taking the piece.
To start this phase up, the Thief placed a piece at E5, E5. This allowed him to take F6, F6 and G7, G7 and take a strong hold of the center. Beast could only take G7, G7 back if he placed a piece at G7, H8; but doing so would result in Marlowe taking back the slot and G7, F6. Marlowe was in a very good position, at the moment, to countering Beast with ease.
Beast was talking about how he had arrived in Agrabah. The method was extraordinary and, if Marlowe hadn't encountered stranger things before, impossible. Beast described that, while living in his castle, he became enraged over not knowing where his love was or whatever danger that seemed to be plaguing her. His anger gave him so much strength that he tore open the veil that they all saw and created a glimmering door of light. He stepped through this, not sure of what it was, and ended up in the desert, just like Marlowe did. He had ended by an oasis, that he probably was staying at for some time, and was rescued by two men: A young man in a vest and a strange blue man.
The story was extraordinary indeed, much more than Marlowe's. The Thief of Light was about to provide his input, but he held himself, as Rhyme began to describe her story. She couldn't remember about where she was before arriving here. However, she did remember of where she was from. She described a city called Shibuya, a place that Marlowe never heard of nor seen before. An enormous city, with people crowding the streets, that seems to glimmer in a beautiful manner in the night. In the city, a place that Rhyme liked going to was a place called Cat Street that held what Marlowe thought was some sort of store called café. At this store, they sold coffee, a drink that Marlowe had found very difficult to find anywhere, for it was something that usually was in the grasps of rich folk, though on certain islands, a lot of people had coffee.
Rhyme then asked what their homes were like. Marlowe pressed his lips together, then let out a sigh that sounded like a pop, then stating, "Well... I don't exactly have a home. I'm the type of guy that just travels the world, drinking various things, wagering bets, fighting monsters, being with adult women... But, I suppose if you're looking for a more definite answer, then my 'home'," Marlowe raising his right hand up and making a 'quotes' gesture at the same time as he said home, "is a place called Melmond. It's a place where the land had begun to decay and life was thievery, just to get some food and water to pass the days gone by. It's located by the ocean, but ocean water tends to cause more thirst, then quench it. I was, luckily, raised by a well known scholar known as Dr. Unne, so the skills I learned come into very good use, but that's a different story. Just know that, if you ever find yourself in Melmond, get out fast. The people are greedy and ravenous and violent... Oh so violent."

Rhyme’s description of her home sounded beautiful. Her description of this Shibuya was so different from anything the Beast had ever seen. He’d been around before. He’d traveled with his parents before to the nearby town so many, many years ago, but that was long before the curse, and he hadn’t seen civilization in such a long time. Even this Agrabah, though hot and dirty, was beautiful to him in a way. Given the choice though, he would elect more to live elsewhere, as he was much more accustomed to his castle and the dark woods around it. But then, as long as he was with Belle, it would suit him. Oh Belle… was she worried now, at his disappearance? Was she worried for him? Was his servants? It was a fear that existed, but would not be solved.
As Marlowe spoke about his own home, describing the supposed horros of it, beast looked over the board, contemplating his moves. His strong line was at risk to a degree, but he needed to get the middle and keep it. A possible option presented itself, and Beast placed a black piece at E5, F6. He quickly manipulated the pieces at F6, F6 and G7, F6, creating another solid line and making a small T of his pieces upon the board. It gave him some options, and this was where he was no doubt going to have to really think. Thinking ahead had never been a strong suit of his, even when a human. As a Beast, his impatience got the better of him, and he much preferred to do instead of sit and wait. If his “Do now” attitude caused his loss at this game, it would be his own, but it would not be a good thing.
“I much confess Jealousy to both your worlds.”[/b] Beast said, not catching the small faux pas he had made by calling their homes “Worlds”, something not everyone knew about. “My own castle… It’s remote. Kept deep within darkened woods. The sun, it seems as though it never shines, but the world is kept alit by a brilliant moon and beautiful stars. People talk about the curse on my lands, and the haunting ghosts within the halls. It is a world that… perhaps, exists in both light and darkness. The world, while bathed in the darkness of night, is kept alit by the hearts of it’s inhabitants…” Beast paused, thinking of Belle and the beautiful light of her heart, “I have never been to a city before this, and I have never seen sands or beaches, but right now, I would give anything… to return home.” To know she’s safe.[/I] Beast thought as he finished his words and tale, not catching his softening and almost human voice near the end.

(OOC: I apologize for the long wait and rather short post. I've been sick lately, and couldn't bear to get up and make a quality post. I apologize again.)
"Really? That's..."
Rhyme couldn't think of anything really nice to say about Melmond. She was grateful that she didn't live in a place like that, so she just shut her mouth. She couldn't think of anything much about Beast's place, either. They both made them seem so... dark. She bet that there were at least some good parts to them.
"Well," she started, turning to Beast. "It can't be that bad a place. You said so yourself, it has a really beautiful moon and stars. You make it sound bad, but there are people there who seem really kind and pure."
There wasn't much that she could say to Mr. Haruto. "Well, you visit lots of places, right? What kind of places?" She smiled at Mr. Haruto, not knowing how he felt about his home, but attempting to make him feel better. What if the mention of home awoke some bad memories? Some people didn't like their homes. Was Mr. Haruto one of them?
She looked around the room, feeling rather uncomfortable. She squirmed in her wooden chair.
"So...What are we going to do now?"

(Don't worry, Rhyme. Health comes first.)
The Beast's next move made Marlowe nod, being impressed by the move. He exclaimed, "Quite the move, Mr. Beast! Quite the move indeed. A placement at E5, F6 in order to reclaim the majority of the central area is a strong move! I'll have to think hard on my next move..."
He took a sip of his drink with a smile on his face before becoming a little more serious, though the smile remained still. He rubbed his chin with his left hand, as he tapped his fingers on the table with his right. "Where could I move next," Marlowe wondered in his head, as he looked over the board, "Mr. Beast has recovered much ground with this move and has opened up strong opportunities to counter my moves.... Hmm... AH! What if I place a piece at E5, G7? That'll let me take back 3 points in the central point and should let me take control, right?"
He imagined turning over the pieces at E5, E5; F6, E5; and F6, F6, then began to think of moves that Beast could do, to possibly make an even stronger hold. "Lets see here... If I take those points, that means that he can place a piece at D4, F6 and retake E5, E5 and F6, E5, along with E5, G7... Hm... This is actually proving to be a rather weak move as it is. He'd also be able to place a piece there and flip those over.... those too..."
Marlowe was feeling so drowned in his thoughts of the game, as this was a real brain teaser. He didn't notice Rhyme asking him a question that much. He mumbled a response, but seemed fixated on the game. Then the Beast started talking. His opening sentence caught Marlowe's attention slightly, especially with the use of the word, 'worlds'. However, he didn't register it immediately.
He finally placed a piece down at E5, J10, in order to change F6, I9 into a white piece. He took a sip of the tangy liquid once more, admiring the lingering taste and took another. Then, it registered in his head. His face reflected his confusion, as he lowered the glass down to the table and looked at the Beast with the questioning gaze. He asked, in a rather slurred manner, "Uhm.... Esqueezze me? Wha's with the... 'admirin' your worlds' comment? Are you sayin' that... This place, where we're drinking, breathing, and playing this game is another world...?"
It partially made sense to Marlowe. When he was looking at the maps Agrabah had, then comparing the maps to his world map, he wasn't able to pin point this enormous civilization anywhere on the map. It was physically and even magically impossible to really cover this place and also hide it... Unless there was some powerful being that could send the land to a different plane, yet keep it in the same plane, but that was something that really made his head hurt. So, in other words, Marlowe had to take into account that he was just on another world that has this enormous city and desert of practically endless sand... Which still hurt Marlowe's head.
"We're on another world..." Marlowe mumbled, rubbing his forehead with the fingers on his head, "Not just on our world, in another plane or time... You mean another world that has similar looks to our worlds and we arrived here by some unknown means, most of our stories relating to some sort of strange light..."

The beast found himself smiling at Marlowe’s praising words of his move, watching the man as he contemplated his next move and looking the board over. Beast had thought it a potential strong move indeed, but he’d also not thought so much about future moves. As he looked over the board now, he could see potentials, but thinking too far ahead caused his brain to grow a tinge of pain, a headache from the thinking. He’d gotten better at thinking, thanks to Belle, but thinking too much did still hurt his head greatly.
Marlowe seemed focused in his game, and even though Rhyme posed a question to the man, beast turned to the young girl and answered his own take on the question instead, looking the girl over. “Thank you for the vote of confidence about my world. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, as it’s said, and what I described may have sounded harsh and dark, but to me… it’s a beautiful place. I would choose no where else to live.” So long as I am with her, My la belle.[/I] The Beast ended in a thought, smiling at the thoughts of Belle and her Beauty, her name meaning as such so perfectly.
Beast watched as Marlowe had begun sipping more of the bitter liquid he had gotten for himself and Beast, Beast glancing to his own drink, only a few sips taken from it. The few sips had not affected him, and he was fortunate for that. Beverages of those sorts had not been ingested in him since his transformation, and he did not know what ingesting them now might do. For nothing to have happened yet, he was glad. He took one quick sip--a small one--as he watched Marlowe make his move and turned to Rhyme again at her next question. “I do not know about Mr. Haruto here, but I came here by my own will it seems. I desired truth and answered, and it seems to have for some reason brought me to this land. Presumably, the truth of what is going on behind the cotton in our ears lurks in this sandy place, at least, that is what I hope.”[/b]
Beast turned to the board again and looked over the place, seeing the one spot he had thought about was still available. Without much extra thought put in, he picked up a piece and began placing it at I9,I9, when he heard Marlowe’s slurred words and jerked into a frozen state, eyes wide beneath his hood and face contorted into a grimace of shock. “Merde!” He hissed beneath his hood, biting his lower lip and very, very slowly placing the piece down where he intended, flipping the corresponding pieces at H8,H8 and G7,G7, then sitting up, looking between Marlowe and Rhyme. Rhyme had not caught it yet it seemed, and Beast had never intended to even mention it, but it seemed he had let the cat out of the bag somehow. Beast sat very still, then turned around in the tavern to keep his gaze looking over the other patrons. It seemed a few had looked over when beast had frozen and jerked, but most were shrugging and looking away. One of those bars where if you did not need to know anything, you kept to yourself. Good. “Please, keep your voice down when speaking about it,” he said in a small whisper, difficult for the Beast due to his growling voice. He looked to Marlowe, then Rhyme, trying to figure out what to do or what to say.
Except, there was only one thing to say. “Yes… this is… another world. At least, I presume it is, based on some knowledge I have inadvertanly received in my time.”[/b]

Hearing Beast's description and feelings of his own world made Rhyme feel Happy. So he was glad that he lived there. It wouldn't be much of a home if he didn't like it there.
... Home. Rhyme wondered where home actually was. No, before that, Rhyme had to answer the unavoidable question: Where was she? Not that she didn't know, she was in Agrabah. But she felt as if there was something more. She was either very far away from her home, but on her world. Or, she was on an entirely different world. She guessed the latter, judging by how Beast and Marlowe were also the same as her, and she hadn't heard of either of those places in her world. She began to wonder where everybody was. Where is everybody, if I'm was on a different planet? she wondered to herself. Were they on other planets, much like this one? And how did we get separated in the first place? Her mind was spinning with questions, questions she couldn't answer. When she thought of one possibility, it led to a thousand more questions, that would swarm inside of her like bees, stinging her over and over again. Except they wouldn't die, and they kept coming back for more. She sighed longingly. She wanted to be with Beat again. She wanted to see Neku, and Shiki. She wondered if they were okay. Perhaps they're in Japan, in our world right now, she thought. And that I'm the only one burdened with this misfortune of having to stay here. And with that, although she was glad that everybody was okay, she was also upset that she wouldn't be able to see them. But then there was the possibility of them being on the same world as her...
She went on and on, accidentally forgetting where she was and who she was with.
"Yes... this is... another world."
Another world? Rhyme thought, with sudden curiosity. Now I'm going to have to listen to this.
"At least, I presume it is, based on some knowledge I have inadvertanly received in my time."
"Do you know how to get home, then?" Rhyme suddenly asked aloud, a bit too loud, and getting up. She quickly realized where she was, and, blushing red from embarrassment, she quickly sat down again, putting her hands in her lap and calming herself down. "I'm sorry," she apologized sheepishly. "It's just that I'm really keen on home right now..."

Rhyme’s sudden outburst had caused Beast to once more look around the room of the tavern they were in. A few looks, but thankfully, Rhyme’s words had been more than likely misinterpreted by almost all of them. To them, her home might have been somewhere far across the sands of the desert. Or perhaps in another part of Agrabah. Or even the mountains in the distance. To them, her home could have meant anywhere in this world, with no knowledge of an existence beyond the skies of this desert place. And perhaps that was for the best. Too much knowledge of what lies beyond the stars could have been dangerous.
Beast shook his head once Rhyme had sat down and apologized, partly to show that her outburst was nothing, and understandable, but also it served to answer her first question when combined with the frown on his face. “I am sorry, but while this is not my first time exploring the stars… I am still confused as to how I can do it. I have been told it might have something to do with the strength of one’s heart…”[/b]
At that moment Beast put a hand over his chest, closing his eyes and breathing deeply. His heart. That was the answer, wasn’t it? It was the strength of his heart and his love for Belle that kept him alive and allowed him this ability to traverse the stars… but it certainly was not the only way though, correct? “But I once knew of a boy, capable of traversing the stars. A powerful warrior of light, a shining beacon of hope. This boy… he somehow traveled the worlds to protect them and help them when in greatest needs.” Sora’d know. Sora would know how to get them back. How they traversed the stars. How they traveled at all. Sora would have the answer, yes? He always seemed to be there when you needed him, did he not?
“It’s… possible, he might have come here to. Failing any information to be found on the boy, I do know of another source of traveling I have seen. People who seem to walk through portals… of darkness.”[/b] Beast kept his voice low in the tavern when talking, and visibly shivered at the thought of those who traversed the dark portals. “But I have seen no one who uses those portals be a good person at heart. I would question use of them if it came to their use, but it is yet another option.”[/b]

Rhyme didn't know what she was expecting. Was there really a way to go back home? She wasn't expecting much, though. Travelling 'through the stars' seemed to surreal for her to comprehend. However, if it wasn't true, would she really be here right now? Or perhaps her 'world' was this 'world', and that she had stumbled upon this other place on her own 'world', although for whatever reason she did not know. But she felt like she wanted to believe what Beast was saying. The thought of being on a different world scared her, yes, but it was almost thrilling. She was always one for excitement, though she took great care to not let it get to her head. But, if she could believe what Beast was saying, this was real. She suddenly felt that she was a small speck in a very, very large universe, with a greater being pulling the strings of fate. She realized that there were so many things that she didn't actually knew. Rhyme felt kind of special, to be one of the few who knew about this, but also envied those who were ignorant to the mess she was in. She wished more than ever to be with Beat and the rest of her friends. She had mixed feelings about the whole matter. Her thoughts were brought back to what really mattered, the matter of getting back home.
Rhyme eyed the expression on Beast's face, and when she detected a slight frown on his face, her hope almost immediately darkened. They were darkened further when he shook his head sadly. Her face fell. "I am sorry, but while this is not my first time exploring the stars… I am still confused as to how I can do it. I have been told it might have something to do with the strength of one’s heart…" he had told her. So there was a way to travel through the stars. And it had something to with the strength of one's heart... "You're saying that travelling through the stars if you have a strong heart..?" she asked him cautiously. Her hopes lightened slightly. So there was a way. She breathed a small sigh of relief, at the small chance that she would be able to meet her friends again. But then again, there was still the problem on how to do it.
"But I once knew of a boy, capable of traversing the stars. A powerful warrior of light, a shining beacon of hope. This boy… he somehow traveled the worlds to protect them and help them when in greatest needs." A boy who knew how to travel through the stars? Then, if they'd met him, they would be able to return home? "So, if we find this boy, we'll be able to go home?" she asked in a quiet voice, voicing her thoughts exactly. "Who exactly is this boy? What's his name?"
However, Beast had begun talking of another way of travelling. "...People who seem to walk through portals… of darkness," was what Beast had been saying. "But I have seen no one who uses those portals be a good person at heart. I would question use of them if it came to their use, but it is yet another option."
"I see," she said, although she didn't see it. There was a lot to talk about, and a lot for her to know, if she was going to survive this world. Or, these worlds.
