The pain was rather choking.
Kairi was not very well-trained with the use of this keyblade, or weapons in general, and it was another bitter thought she cast away into her heart. Negative emotions she allowed to fester and sit there, nearly overwhelming her when they did finally spill out. She was such an emotional person, but having Vanitas within her heart only made those desperate wishes all the more tangible and real. Her oceanic eyes picked up the Heartless beneath her, and she gasped, eyes widening, and her heart beating liked a trapped thing. The Princess jumped back, bending her body into a flip, her free hand acting as a balance. Performing the back flip was harder than she thought, and her muscles strained with the brief addition of her whole weight. Fatigue ran through, and it made her realize how weak she still was. All of her shouts of defiance at being called weak had not mattered, because she had no experience. Not like Sora and Riku. Kairi felt the angry tears burn, pity mingling with the sadness she had been trying to fight off for so long.
A barrier appeared before her, and the Princess turned her head. The Superior had unmasked himself, protecting her from the onslaught of the Heartless. Had she proven useful for something after all? She looked to the keyblade within her hand, a mocking smile curling on her lips. Kairi looked at the Heartless, so close, and yet she was still too weak to stop it. That light that was hers seemed to boil, becoming far too much to contain. Or maybe it was her emotions? She knelt there in the damp sand, various cuts and scratches along her body. Worn and fatigued, and she suddenly screamed. Her lips parted, and a shriek of anger, loneliness, and sadness seemed to overwhelm her. Some sort of release was needed, and Kairi wanted to toss the keyblade away, wanting to lunge at the Heartless recklessly. Was she finally beginning to fray and break? Kairi hated to admit such a thing, but maybe it was true. Everyone thought she was so strong emotionally, but did she not deserve to feel the way she did?
It hurt so much.
The scream had felt raw in her throat, and it died away. The tears still burned, and she bowed her head. A curtain of auburn hair hid her face from view, not wanting anyone to see her like this. Everything felt like it was crashing down, and she nearly wanted to sink into a blissful oblivion. Not quite yet, though. There was still some hope that maybe she could turn this around, but it felt dwindled, and so the Princess stayed where she was. Lost within her own thoughts, almost not caring if the Heartless broke through. Maybe waiting was not good enough anymore, and she had to take this into her own hands once more. Fate did not care, and destiny had never been overly kind to her. Kairi glanced to Xemnas, seeking any sort of acceptance and guidance at this point. Darkness, Light, Nothing. It did not matter anymore. She needed something to hold onto, and maybe this was it.

(OOC: Sorry about the wait everyone; Vanitas only told me recently he is not posting, so let's wrap this up!)
The cannonballing Neoshadow slammed against the barrier, staggering as it was knocked back, stunned for a moment that such an obstruction had happened at the last minute. The shockwave of the second Heartless also hit the barrier, but the wave was broken as it hit it, the rest of the enegy wave dissapating past the Princess of Heart. Finally the larger, slower movements of the Novashadow clawed into the barrier, but with no effect as it as well staggered. The three species of Neoshadow Heartless paced around their target, confused and curious more than afraid or cautious of the new power, almost anaytical in their movements if they were not basic, instinctual Heartless. There was a moment of ominous silence after the lonesome scream from the teenager, before there was movement within the darkness of the beach that was the battlefield that encompassed them all.
Immediately without second thought, the Neoshadow that was in better conditon than it's first counterpart dived into the ground once more, it's shadow form against the ground moving underneath the barrier and before the keyblader, rising up again to unleash another shockwave now it had surpassed the barrier. The first Neoshadow took a more careful yet obvious approach, pacing around the square barrier, then attacked with it's claws towards the young woman. Finally, the Novashadow unleashed it's despiration attack, diving through the air like a stream-lined bullet head-first in a attempt to become a living battering ram and smash through what strength remained of the barrier to be held up.
If the attempt was successful, it's mass would forcefully dispel the barrier and go crashing through the female, knocking her aside and depleting her health while it kept barreling past her where it would land in the water at a severe disadvantage and become vulnerable like the rest. The light and darkness around the keyblade of the Priness of Destiny and balanced within her own heart was not all hers, but her own strength, speed and style of combat was as she alone finally unleashed the beginning of it onto the Heartless... now all she needed to do... was finish with her own power what she had started.

Now was not the time to allow herself to sink into this darkness! The Princess knew that the barrier would not hold up, if the Heartless continued to throw themselves at it, and if she remained sitting there as she did. It was still so much to take in, and so much to handle upon her small shoulders. All of this was simply overwhelming Kairi, and she had no idea who to turn to. She had just cut away her ties to that light within her heart, and for what? Her friends were the most important people to her, and yet here was alone, only with the Superior with her. Kairi only proved useful as long as she could be so, and sitting in the sand like this would not change what had happened. Her muscles were sore, and her body protested against any movement, but there was no choice. Giving up would not help her, and wallowing would change nothing. Kairi faintly remembered the words Axel had once said to her so long ago, when she had murmured that perhaps waiting was no longer good enough.
"If you have a dream, don't wait. Act."
Oceanic eyes quickly became assessing, watching the Heartless from behind the barrier. No, it would not keep them out for long, and so Kairi pushed herself into a standing position. Her legs ached, and her knees nearly buckled in, but she stood, the new keyblade held tightly within her grip. The Neoshadow had dived into the ground, sneaking past the barrier by going underneath of it. The Princess was ready, though, and so she jumped back. Reflect was cast hastily, and so the luminescent covered her slender frame. The shockwave crashed against her spell, but the casting had done it's job. While the barrier shattered, the attack had been sent back at the Heartless. Jumping back, Kairi quickly twirled upon her heel, letting her keyblade slide in an upward slash at the first Neoshadow, sending both an arc of light and a close range attack at the Heartless. The claws brushed closely against the exposed skin of her legs, but she danced out of the way with a slight stagger to her step.
Dodge, attack, dodge, attack.
A mantra that hastily formed within her mind, and so the Princess began to act upon her own instinct. The Novashadow was crashing against the barrier, and her mind frantically went through spells she could possibly use. Perhaps going at it full force would be necessary, but at the way it was about to throw itself at the barrier, the momentum would send her tumbling back. Wasting more energy than needed. Magic was her main strength, and so the Princess decided to stick with that. Her lips curled into a slight frown, and the Novashadow suddenly came crashing through, and so she threw herself to the side, keyblade raised before she fell completely into the wet sand. The water was nearby, and so the sudden momentum the Heartless had placed upon itself would make this spell all the more effective. Thundaga was cast, and the spell lurched forward, dancing along the surface of the water, and so becoming one rather large electrocution. The Princess landed on her side roughly, her breath knocked out of her for the moment.
Gasping for breath, she quickly rolled onto her feet, standing there with weariness, but determined to finish this battle through to the end.

The moment Reflect shattered and countered the shockwave energy with it's own, the Neoshadow that sent it out was hit with the white wave of energy, and being flung back it was instantly torn apart and dissolved into the ground in a puddle of black goo. Not releasing a heart like it's Emblem cousins, because of it's Pureblood race, because it did not have one. The first Neoshadow was sliced and carved into with the arc of brilliant light that pulsed from Dark Reflection, and already being in critical status, was reduced to nothing but liquid black gunk as it's form dissipated into the ground. The Novashadow shot across the length of the beach like a bullet, pushing into it's barricade for a few seconds before it was ultimately dispelled, shattering the barrier Xemnas had cast like glass. The length of it's body brushed past Kairi, barely missing her as she had already taken slight damage from the last Neoshadow and having dodged at the last minute, allowing the Heartless to stop it's crashing desparation attack as it plummeted into the water.
Darkness meeting darkness, the dark water still appearing ink black from the moonlight and the light created by the princess herself. The Novashadow sent up a small wave of water up around itself like a rock being dropped into it, droplets of water showering back down again against the brilliant moonlight as the ripple receeded. It was this moment that the Princess of Heart chose to use Thundaga at the right time, the lightning electrifying the liquid current around the giant Pureblood as it struck, making it flail and shudder from intense pain before it became a mass of dark liquid itself to merge with the waters of the beach. It was over, and while Vanitas had fought against them using Kairi's body, his attacks had little effect compared to the efforts made by the Princess of Heart alone. She may already have known, with this now confirming her immense power as a burst of shining energy shone over the forms of Kairi, Xemnas and Vanitas of new power, but the Destiny Islands youth had never needed Xemnas or even Vanitas all along to prove how strong she was.
Her friends had already seen her strength without the need to see her redeem or even prove herself, and with the dead silence of the darkness that followed, it was painfully obvious that so much more power and combat lay ahead for the radient keyblader to find her own path to her fate, and that of her friends.
