The man in the crimson cloak stopped, letting the boy catch up, thinking from the boy's tone that maybe he had been too hard on him. He proceeded to answer his question, looking down on him again with those dark ocher eyes of his. "Yes, it seems that the Heartless steal the spiritual essance of the heart, not the physical heart itself..." he considered, thinking how gory and violent the latter option would have been.
His black hair around him billowed in the wind with his tattered cloak, deciding to fill the boy in on as much information as possible so he was ready for the journey ahead. "Yes. Dark portals are one method of travel... I used it, but it's very unpredictable in what location you end up in. Unpredicabable. And I've learned after prolonged use, the element of darkness can stain your heart, even seize it to become a Heartless..."
"... The other method is a Gummi ship. Before the Heartless appeared, the worlds were blocked off from each other by barriers. When they arrived, the barriers broke apart and rained down on the worlds, becoming Gummi blocks. They are a easily-binding element, but heavily durable in space, and so are used to create Gummi ships." the ex-Turk explained, wondering if it was time yet, if the boy had no further questions, to summon his own gummi ship.

"I see..." Vellum listened intently, looking thoughtful as he followed behind Vincent with little noise other than his soft comment. If the boy would actually stop talking it was likely nobody would ever notice him moving around if they didn't know he was there in the first place. "So this Darkness... Can take your soul, er, Heart... And the Heartless are a physical manifestation of it? Like vessels to transport a stolen Heart or what?"
The boy watched curiously, shifting uncomfortably as he stretched out stiff jeans once more before pushing his glasses back into place unconsciously. He barely even noticed the hot pavement under his bare feet, that wrapped hoodie still dangling in his hand in a lumpy mass. He was starting to feel a little more comfortable around Vincent, even if he still reminded the SeeD of a walking, talking corpse.
"This is serious. When I get home... If I get home... It's likely that I'm going to be sent in for psych treatment if I start talking about this sort of stuff..."

The Avalanche member shook his head slightly. "Yes. And no. The Heartless are physical manifestations, and you can say they are like containers, for when one is defeated the heart is released again. They are the manifestation of the darkness in one's heart."
The tattered crimson cloak of the man stopped moving, as he came to a stop, a little way out of town on the stone path. "We're here." he said, and to indicate to Vellum what he meant, he pointed at a beam of light shining on the ground from a source. If one looked up, they could probably see the tiny speck in the sky that was his Gummi ship in orbit.
He turned to Vellum, a small smirk tugging at his lips at his comment. He was beginning to like this boy. "Your friends may soon believe you sooner than you think. There are already Heartless in your world, if a dark portal brought you here. Are you ready to leave this place yet?"
((OOC: The bright 'beam' of light is basically looks like a save point in KH, I figure they must be transport beams to the Gummi ship since you can board it there. Don't ask me how the Gummi ship followed Vincent since he entered via dark portal, the Gummi ship of Sora's follows him around, so it's the same logic. *shrugs, laughing*))

"Oh, so the darkness of your... Heart... Is like a swimming pool. You get too deep without knowing what you're doing and you drown? Serious stuff." Vellum actually looked a little worried, stepping aside as the cloak the strange man wore drifted to the ground. The boy swore that thing had a mind of it's own. As the man spoke Vellum looked up, squinting into the sky at the tapering beam before looking back at the stranger with an arch of his brow.
"I was afraid you would say that, about the Heartless. I think they can handle themselves, we're trained to fight beasties after all..." He paused, shaking the hair out of his eyes before seeming to relax a little. "I'm ready when you are. I'm interested in seeing this... Gummi ship you speak of. It's not too often you see technology as advanced as this."

"Yes." Vincent nodded to the boy, answering his questions with a single answer. Basically that was the basic concept of the Heartless, Vellum couldn't go wrong now. "I'm afraid so. But there are worse things out there waiting in the dark that are worse than Heartless."
He stepped into the beam of light, and said, "Welcome aboard," briefly, before he disappeared in a flash of light, and he was gone. He was now in his Gummi ship, which Vellum was free to explore and take him to another world or home, but for now this world had been left behind.
Vincent has left the thread.
((Hope you liked Vellum having Vincent as the first character to RP with, but I have to close some threads.))

Vellum looked amused as he was "beamed up" into the gummi ship, the bright colors catching his eye first as he looked around curiously. This was something new, and suddenly the urge to go home was diminished significantly. This was so much better than what Esthar had!
"This is getting better by the moment, I think..."
