It had been some time since the One Winged Angel had set foot upon this barren wasteland. It hadn't changed much in appearance either. As far as the eye could see, this place was scarred. Telltale signs of battle were visible as far as the eye could see. Even a powerful warrior like himself would have liked to hear war stories from this place.
Sand crunched beneath booted feet as he continued his journey, seeking the answers to the mysteries of the X-Blade, as well as Kingdom Hearts. Were the two linked? Would he be able to possess one if he had the other? How would one simply form the X-Blade? The only knowledge he had was that it required two to form.
His steps took him to a field littered with Keyblades. Rust covered the metal of the legendary weapons here. Some even held the signs of battle wear and tear. But nonetheless, history was made here...and the former SOLDIER couldnt' help but wonder why this place was littered with so many Keyblades. Had a war perhaps once broke out here? But a war against what?
Long silver hair flew up slightly as a breeze passed through. Glowing mako infused eyes remained fixated upon the thousands upon thousands of Keyblades here. Each one must have its own unique story to tell. "I will become one with Kingdom Hearts....

Sephiroth's head turned slightly as the newcomer spoke. The Masked Boy's words earned not one reaction from him. Not a smirk, or chuckle..nothing. True One Winged Angel style silence. However, there was something about this boy that interested him, the fact he could feel the darkness just radiating off of him. There wasn't a speck of light anywhere.
He remained silent, listening to the boy continue on and on, speaking of a Keyblade War. That explains why this place is battle scarred and littered with Keyblades.[/color] Once the other was done speaking, an idea formed into his mind, one that would be perfect. "Only a Keyblader would know about something like a Keyblade War, and I can tell you aren't exactly aligned with the Light or the Neutral." Being the embodiment of Cloud's Darkness outside of Gaia had its perks. He had felt the others heart shift..but for what purpose?
"So how about I propose a deal with you then?" Yes, this was outside his norm seeing as he usually worked alone, but having someone like this boy on his side would prove useful indeed. "You tell me everything you know about the X-Blade, and I'll let you wield it. I'm only interested in merging with Kingdom Hearts to twist the worlds into my image. You would be the most powerful warrior to roam the worlds, wielding the power of the X-Blade. All you have to do for me is tell me how to forge it, help form it, and open Kingdom Hearts for me. And while merged..I'll give you whatever power you desire..."
He might even keep his word about granting that kind of power. After all, if they did pull off something like this...it would be reasonable enough to give the boy one request. Especially considering once he became one with The Heart of All Worlds, it would be well within his power to give him what he desired. He would be a god, taking his rightful place as ruler of all. Each world would be turned into Jenova's Promised Land. Barren wastelands void of all life.

Sephiroth wasn't a Keyblader, and as such was far from a Keyblade Master. Anything he knew about the X-Blade..or Kingdom Hearts was due to being Cloud's emodied Darkness, or he had discovered trhough research only to get mediocre answers. Yet the boy's question intrigued him...he found opportunity there.
"I haven't seen anyone by that description..however I can tell you of another Keyblader if you like..." Sora's descrption slightly fit the blonde one the boy was referring to. Hell, for all he know it could be the same guy just with darker hair. "I'm not sure where you can start looking for him, but he is a powerful Keyblader of Light, sometimes in the company of a talking dog and a talking duck. He could be the same guy you are looking for, just older. As for the other two, I'm sorry but I have no idea who you are talking about."
A pause ensued then as he extended an arm out for one of the rusted Keyblades, watching it shatter and turn to dust at his touch. The dust particles picked up in the breeze, soon joining the sand that uplifted as well. So these Keyblades would be useless to him as well, or would they if he merged with Kingdom Hearts. A small grin formed as he heard how to forge the X-Blade from the boy. "So it takes two Keybladers, one of Light, one of Dark. Good. Now I have a proposition for you. Give me the rest of the information you have on the X-Blade and Kingdom Hearts, and I will personally help you find the ones you seek. All you need do for me is go against a Keyblader of the Light and form the X-Blade and open Kingdom Hearts for me in return."

Evil tastes the tears of fear! tearing down your helpless fate
The man’s admittance of not knowing of anyone by their description did little to help Vanitas. It made the man pretty much useless to Vanitas actually, and it showed when the masked boy crossed his arms. He leaned slightly, shifting his weight to one foot as he watched th man and heard him speak, but listened only partially. So there was another keybearer out there, and this one of powerful light? Well, that could be useful. If his heart was pure light, then even better. In the company of talking Dog and Duck though… well that sounded downright crazy, but even Vanitas had met Mickey, if briefly. Maybe it was possible, if highly unlikely. He’d be sure to now keep an eye out. After all, where there was one keybearer, there tended to congregate others. “Thanks.”
Vanitas watched the man touch the crumbled key blade, and it made him look to the keys himself. They were crumbled, rusted, broken, but they could still be used. Their power held in their owner’s hearts were certainly gone, but in the right hands, these were still a formidable weapon. Images in his mind passed by like those of when he rode on the keys, fighting against Aqua and Ventus to best the in battle, and forge the χ-blade. It had failed then, why? He’d need to know why. Was it that Ventus hadn’t been strong enough? Had Aqua been too strong? Had Ventus? No… something else had happened. The link had been severed… that was it. The link had somehow been severed. Then why was he standing here now?
Vanitas turned back to the man as he spoke again, and beneath his mask rolled his eyes. “And once again you sound like that old Coot Xehanort,” he said, throwing his hand up and tilting his head to the side. “But you’ve been helpful, so I can be in return, sure. The two keybladers was a theory. It worked, for a time. They needed to be of pure light, and pure darkness. However… it didn’t stay. There were… complications.” Vanitas had to be careful of his word choice. Getting anyone too far involved could prove to be problematic in itself. “Needless to say, finding a keyblader of almost pure light is not easy. Everyone’s got a little bit of light, and a little buit of darkness in them.” He said, turning his back to Sephiroth and chuckling silently. Unless you’re me, of course. |

Sephiroth remained silent yet again as Vanitas spoke. He knew only all too well that there was hidden darkness inside of everyone. After all, wasn't that how he was able to manifest himself outside of Gaia when Cloud was away out of the world? Still, regardless there was one Keyblader of pure light that even the One Winged Angel was well aware of.
"The name of the Keyblader I have mentioned to you is Sora. He's cheerful and naive, but a decent fighter in his own right. I sensed no darkness from him at all when I crossed blades with him." He listened even more intently upon hearing the last attempt had failed..that something had gone wrong. "Hmph..well there won't be complications last time. We'll be a powerful team."
He remembered then, that he hadn't introduced himself to the other Keyblader yet, and if any partnership had a hope of being formed..formalities may as well start. "Sephiroth is the name...

As yet another corridor randomly opened among the many keyblades that crowded the landscape a lone figure emerged tossed from its gaping opening and hit the ground with a soft thud. The figure rolled one time as the corridor closed after depositing it’s passenger in this abandoned and lonely place. After a moment the figure rose to its feet and dusted itself off. Claire glared back at the spot where the portal had been a moment before then rotated her arm to ease the low pain that resulted from her fall. [pink]“Damn it, I really need to learn how to exit those things. I can’t handle getting tossed around every time one of things pop up.”[/pink]
After mentally cursing the corridor for just dumping her here Claire decided to find out exactly where “here” was. The only things that she could see for a good distance were hundreds upon hundreds of things that looked like oversized keys. She reached out to touch one and when her finger made contact the handle simply disintegrated. [pink]”How old are these things?”[/pink] Whatever they happened to be they must have been her for a very long time to fall apart at the touch like that. But that mattered little to Claire. She had to find out where she was and if there was any point to this place. If there was something to be found here she would need to find out what it would be and figure out how to exploit it for her own purposes or if this place was as useless as it looked she would probably just burn all of these old relics and be on her way. How Claire wished she could control these portals that keep popping up so the could go from place to place at will. That way she wouldn’t be stuck her for a undetermined amount of time if this place was worthless to her.
The committee head began walking in no particular direction looking for any sign of a town or village or even a single house but so far she had found nothing. After about a half hour of walking Claire began to hear voices and could see two figure further up. Claire decided to go see who they were and if they could be used to her advantage and then done away with or if they were threats to her in which case she would dispatch them and continue her search for anything that might be of worth to her.
Once Claire got a little closer she could kiss the finer details of the two people. One was rather tall, older looking ( though not by a huge number, maybe a few years) and admittedly handsome with long silver hair that almost reached down to the ground. The other was a shorter guy, probably around her age with spikey black or really dark brown hair. There really was no place for her to conceal herself from the two men so she didn’t even bother. She did Junction Blizzara to her Elem-Atk and Fire to her Elem-Def just in case these two decided to pick a fight but she would make no outward indication that she was getting ready for battle so she kept her chakrams sheathed behind her back for now.
As she approached the men in the darkness she could hear pieces of their conversation. Apparently they were trading some what sounded like information. She didn’t hear much, just something about someone named “Sora” and something about a keyblader, whatever that was, of pure light and about how people had light and darkness in them. They spikey haired kid excluded himself from that generalization however. He certainly didn’t seem like a the good sort so she assumed he thought of himself as all darkness. Claire liked that.
Claire put on her most flirtatious smile as she reached the men. [pink]”Hey boys. I heard a bit of your converstion and I couldn’t help but notice that you two might be planning something. I want in.[/pink]. She looked at the tall, silver-haired man as she had heard him say his name as she came up. [pink]”Sephiroth was it? You in charge here big boy or do you let Spikey here take the lead?[/pink]

Sora. So that was he name, hmm? Felt familiar, but Vanitas could not place it. Sora… Sora… well, whoever this Sora was, he was now certainly amongst the list of those who would be meeting Vanitas, if he could ever actually find anyone who he looked for. It seemed that he only ever encountered those he did not seek, and those he did eluded him somehow. Still, while he had not gotten to find Ventus and his losers yet, perhaps this Sora could be more easily found. And perhaps this Silver-haired man could also be helpful. “Sure, the most powerful in all the worlds.” Vanitas had been playing it up. With his face hidden behind the mask, he kept himself from being seen, and that was how he liked it. His outfit might have been deceptive, but many often got unnerved when they could not see a face. For that, he offered a Brief curtsy before he was to introduce himself, his helmet fading away to reveal his face to the Silver-haired man.
Vanitas smirked and readied to give his own name, but caught the scent and voice of another nearby, eyes flashing to see a girl on his left who had suddenly appeared. She acted with desire, Vanitas could hear it in her voice. But what’s more, he could smell the darkness in her heart. He offered a quick glance back to the man, Sephiroth, who had mentioned being able to sense Vanitas’ own darkness, wondering if he felt the girl’s darkness as well. The smirk faded and was replaced by a flat expression when looking back to the girl who spoke with Desire, wishing to be “in” on their plans. Her heart was dark, and Vanitas would be willing to let her play along in his game as yet another pawn, but Sephiroth did not seem so quick to allow that. He needed people to bring something to the table.
“Seems we’re having a big ol’ party now,” Vanitas remarked, the smirk returning as an idea formed. “That’s nice you want to join, but… what do you plan to bring to the table?” he asked with a raised eyebrow, falsifying his curiosity well to feign interest. Well, the interest wasn’t feigned completely. He was interested if this girl had something more to offer, and she might have seen Ventus or the others, but whatever else… well, that’d be up to her to release. |

That glowing gaze of his immediately shifted into the direction their newest arrival appeared from. True to his form, he didn't show any signs of if her flirtatious smile or other charms had effect or not. In all reality, they more than likely didn't. However, he smirked slightly as she mentioned she wanted in.
It didn't take a genius to figure out she was dark aligned as well. While it didn't appear to be anywhere near as powerful as Vanitas' or his own, she could still prove useful. Or rather..more like be used as a pawn. But because she didn't offer anything to the table, much like Vanitas he was wary. Silence ensued throughout for a moment before he even continued.
His sword appeared to him in a brilliant flash of light in his left hand. Arm raising quickly, the new arrival would find that seven foot long blade of Masamune pointed directly at her chest, his face remaining cold, emotionless, showing her existance mattered little to him. Whether she would be allowed to join or not all depended on how she reacted in the face of danger.
"What do you have to offer if you want to join?"

So, they wanted to know what she could offer to this “team”. Claire smirked. It would seem that her feminine charms would not sway these two to let her join them by their own merit. Not that she really expected them to. Oh well. If her looks was all she had to rely on she wouldn’t have gotten to where she was. No, her true talents were her weapons training and her magic. While Claire was confident in herself and her abilities she had no illusions about where her limits reached. She knew that there was always room for improvement, especially where her magic was concerned. But even with her somewhat limited abilities she was very creative in the ways that she used those abilities to win battles. Oh, and it didn’t hurt matters any that she could call on the powerful Diablos to lend assist her in battle. Not that she needed to do so very often. She didn’t like to rely on her Guardian Force to fight for her. She considered that a weakness and so she trained herself mercilessly to hone her abilities and improve upon them.
Claire was about to respond to the pair’s question when, in a flash of light, the silver-haired man summoned a very long blade and pointed it directly at her. At this Claire looked at the blade in a moment of shock, at least inwardly, her expression never betrayed her surprise at this move. Well, one this was for certain, this guy wasn’t going to be a push over and by the look on his face, or rather the lack thereof, she surmised that he didn’t feel that she was important enough to associate with. [pink]”Hm, that’s a pretty impressive weapon. Am I supposed to feel afraid of this oversized butterknife?[/pink] With that, Claire side-stepped the tip of the long blade and walked up to the silver-eyed man, stopping about a foot away from him and looking up into his eyes.
A dark expression came over Claire’s features. [pink]”You want to know what I can offer huh? How about this? I’m merciless, ruthless, and life means nothing to me. Nobody stands in my way when I want something and I’m won’t hesitate to cut down anyone who dares to do so and feel no remorse for those who fall before me. As for my abilities, well they are something to fear. While they by themselves are not unique, the many ways I use them are.[/pink] Her expression softened a bit but she never broke eye contact with Sephiroth. [pink]I can hold my own in a battle. I won’t need any babysittiing and I won’t take any crap from either of you. I want to make that very, very clear.[/pink] The ckakram wielder remained where she was. She would show them that she would not be pushed around in case either or both of them had any intentions to do so.

Evil tastes the tears of fear! tearing down your helpless fate
To say Vanitas wasn’t a little impressed might be a lie. What he was impressed about, however, was up for debate. First, the girl had looked to have been about to say something, and then there was the sword. That… Sword. it was so large, so long, so powerful. Even where the stood, the tip of the blade reached the girl’s chest and poked it, an impressive length. Still, a sword was little compared to the person who wielded it, and something of that length was surely compensating for something. Whether it was his swordplay ability or his sword play ability was not up for debate though, as Vanitas followed the blade from hilt to tip to see Claire lightly step around it, remarking it as an oversized butter knife. A Smirk arose from that, And Vanitas crossed his arms, leaning to one side and closer to Sephiroth, following Claire with his eyes.
Then came her words. Merciless? Ruthless? Life means nothing? No Remorse? She was speaking his language, and Vanitas found himself subconsciously nodding to the girl, impressed at least a little. Not only was she standing up to prove herself one of the boys, but she might very well work as a pawn. Hell, from her tone and what she said, She sounded like she could even command a few people if given the chance. This girl might actually have potential. Of course, she’d be cut down like anyone else who got in Vanitas’ way. Much in the way she had put it actually. Checking her over, Vanitas had already begun to like this girl now. She had a heart of darkness, was willing to kill, And did look pretty good. The Smirk on Vanitas face turned into a grin, and he nodded.
“Color me impressed.” he said as he held out a hand loosely and huffed out. “You talk big, and you got the attitude to match certainly.” Vanitas sighs and shrugs. “There’s a difference between talking the talk and walking the walk though. Can you walk the walk?” In a second, a sound similar to that made when the heartless popped in was made. However, the sound was still distinct enough to make it different. Behind Claire appeared three Flood Unversed, already moving and looking about in their quick, dance-like movements. If she could take out these things, well, it wouldn’t prove much. But her style of battle could also be judged, and if she had skill or not. |

Sephiroth listened closely as the girl spoke, eyes watching her every movement. She seemed calm, fearless even. Sidestepping Masamune was a brave move of hers, seeing as with just a twist of the blade followed by a swing he could cut her right in two and she wouldn't even notice. The blade in his hand, it was a well known fact in Midgar that only he specifically could wield that blade of impressive length..and weight. Not many were able to lift it, let alone master it and wield it in combat.
Her personality..it suited what he sought out when forming alliances. He didn't need to know by her personality she was cold and ruthless, it showed in the darkness in her heart. However, she was going to need to be tested, and even the Masked Boy next to him appeared to think so. A silver brow raised just slightly as three strange creatures appeared at the others will. So, he can summon creatures to his will as well. They don't appear to be Heartless or Nobodies, but they are still feeble compared to what I have in store for her.[/color]
That glowing gaze of his shifted from the summoned Unversed back to Claire. There was only one way she was going to prove herself to him, and it wasn't going to be by taking out something that appeared to be on the same level as Heartless. No, instead he had something far more sinister for her. His attention returned to Vanitas for a moment. "Dismiss your pets. I have a far more challenging test for her."
An eerie smirk formed upon his lips as his sword vanished from sight. His right arm raised then, palms facing towards her as if he was going to blast her with magic or some sort of spell. "I have something far more powerful than Heartless or Nobodies at my disposal. Something the few that serve the Light that have seen them know better than to underestimate."
Violet energy soon manifested itself directly between the One Winged Angel and their newest arrival. That energy sparked and crackled to life, twisting and turning until it took on the shape of a very well known face in Archipelago, a man Sephiroth himself knew to be a decent foe. After all...he had managed to take on Ultimecia herself. That energy had become a Transient Lion...better known as a Manikin of Squall Leonheart himself.
"We only live to fight..." came the identical, yet distorted voice of the Squall manikin as it brought its Gunblade up to its shoulder. Its summoner merely smirked as he stepped back. "Attack..." True to orders, the Squall manikin charged forth, Gunblade pointed at the ready. Once it neared Claire it's body spun around, Gunblade swinging to call forth eight red orbs to surround its body. If she was at close enough range, those orbs would detonate, and be followed up by a slash from the Revolver Gunblade in its hand.

It would seem that she had both of the men’s attention after her little speech. True to her word she didn’t back down even as the spkey haired man spoke to her. He commented on her attitude and it seemed that he liked it. However, he also asked her if she would be willing to back up her words with action. Claire thought it insulting for her skills to be put into question but she understood the reasoning behind it; anyone who took anyone else at their word were, quite frankly, stupid with these two at least that was clearly not the case. Before Claire could respond to the man’s question a strange sound came from behind her. Claire turned around to see three strange creatures that moved in odd ways. She knew that these creatures were a test for her. She relished at the chance to do battle especially since she had never fought these things before. She had no idea what their capabilities were and that made the imminent fight all the more enticing to her.
She unsheathed her chakrams from her back but before she could even launch her first attack Sephiroth spoke. He told Vanitas to dismiss his creatures because he apparently had something far more powerful to test her against. Claire turned to her side so the creatures were on her left and Sephiroth was to her right. He said that he had something more powerful than Heartless or Nobodies, whatever they were, that he could use and that it was not to be underestimated. At this a purple aura manifested itself between Sephiroth and Claire. The chakram wielder shifted her eyes between the three creatures and the violet energy that began to spark. After a moment the ominous energy took a very surprising form. That form being none other Squall Leonheart. Or at least this a copy of him. Claire new this because when the copy spoke it did speak with Squall’s voice but it was off and distorted. Claire watched as Sephiroth took a few steps back and ordered “Squall” to attack.
The speed at which the fake Leonheart attacked was faster than Claire expected but she quickly compensated for it by jumping back just as the her opponent approached her position. The orbs that the manikin summoned and it’s slash narrowing missed the her as she landed about five feet from her enemy. Claire then let fly her chakrams in wide arcs on either side of her target. If they hit they would do so at the same time from both sides them immediately afterwards she cast a Thundara spell timed it in such a way so that it would hit “Squall” at the same moment her chakrams did if it was successful. Claire knew that this was not going to be an easy battle but honestly she would have it no other way.
Claire’s abilities used: Thundara - Mid level lightning magic. Multiple bolts of lightning rain down from the sky to strike a single opponent. cooldown: 2 posts.

Theme: Don‘t Be Afraid Tagged: Claire, Vani, Sephy Comments: Vani is gonna MST3K this
Now here was Claire’s first mistake: Turning her back on Sephiroth and Vanitas. Had they wanted, both could have easily attacked her the moment she turned her back, making it easy to get in an attack that would leave her crippled. Vanitas even had the upper hand still. Neither of them presumably knew Vanitas’ power as a keybearer, and he planned to keep it as such. In fact, why not just make him look like a mage for now. Someone with power over unique, strange creatures, and the power of magic and darkness. Easy enough to do, right? Sephiroth had already possibly figured out that Vanitas at least had a connection as a keybearer, based on his answers, but if he jumped to the right conclusions already, it spoke much of his character. Vanitas was not one to give up his secrets without a fight, and it was why he only told Sephiroth so much. Sure, he had assumed Vanitas would be the one to fight a warrior of light, but he had not figured out that the boy he sought, Ventus, was the warrior of light Vanitas needed.
Sephiroth’s words to turn away and dismiss his ‘pets’ though caused a flash to appear between Vanitas eyes, turning his attention to Sephiroth and raising a brow, both in curiosity and annoyance. Clearly he did not know the history of his “Pets” the Unversed. Some were weak, yes, but they were powerful in tandem, and he could have easily summoned a boss to his aid if needed. In fact, he only elected not too because he had planned to warm up the girl a little, be at least a little nice. But if Seph wanted it full out, he wouldn’t stop him. As Sephiroth began summoning his own puppet, Vanitas turned to his flood Unversed. “Seek.” he said, voice low. The Three Unversed dispersed into the landscape around them, Vanitas watching them disappear. They could not speak, but he could feel through them, as they were a part of him. He still, to this day, did not understand why he could bring these beings into existence, but he did so without worry or merit. They had their useses, and if they found anything useful, he’d know.
He turned back as the figure formed and Claire readied herself. Chakrams, two of them. It reminded Vanitas of that spiky red-head he fought, and it made him scowl in disgust. Now he wanted Claire to fail, if only to get revenge by proxy, but she was not the same person, so it would be useless. Still, if she did fail, Vanitas could feel smug at knowing a Chakram wielder had fallen. He watched the auburn-haired man attack with the sword that had an odd handle, and he watched Claire’s defensive movements, from her narrow dodging, to her tossing of the Chakrams and then casting of a Spell of Lightning, Thundara. Clever to time it as she did, but it would be more interesting to see the outcome. |
