Olette loved to shop. Maybe it was a bit girly for her--she knew the the girls gave her strange looks. They all thought she was some kind of tomboy for hanging out with a bunch of boys. And the rumors they spread around about her were hardly polite.
She was now holding a shirt against her front, watching as the shiny silk material shimmered and swayed. It was something she would never get. She could already imagine Hayner's and Pence's mortified expressions. She rubbed a hand over the soft shirt. She wished she could pull something like this off. SHe just needed to be pretty enough. Everyone around her was fair with petty blue eyes while Olette was brunette with large bug-like eyes. Hardly attractive. She hung the shirt up and waved good-bye to the shop keeper.
She went ahead and bought some Sea-Salt Ice Cream and wandered around the Tram Common.
She hated when she was alone. It left only room to think about Sora and how much her heart ached to see him. Three years or not didn't diminish her feelings for him--the ones that insisted they were best friends with no proof at all behind it. The feelings she felt were not for a perfect stranger as Sora was supposed to be. But instead of that cold distance between them, Olette felt sad and useless. Her best friend was out there getting in trouble while she was stuck in calm, tranquil Twilight Town.
She stopped and stood in the middle of the Tram Common, letting her icy treat drip to the ground. A small pool was forming at her feet as she was lost in thought.

Evil tastes the tears of fear! tearing down your helpless fate
Theme: Sinister Sundown Tagged: Vani, Olette Comments:Vani is evil and he knows it.
How many of these worlds existed? Not the worlds in themselves, or the worlds that were large cities to explore, but worlds that seemed to exist in both realms, stuck in the in-between and accessible from both the darkness and the light. The Land of Departure had been one, specially affected based on the current people owning the world. His Master’s new home base, the World that Never Was, also seemed to exist at the in-between. But this world did to. Yet despite existing within both worlds, it’s heart and the hearts of it’s civilians seemed to extrude the light of the other worlds. So few worlds existed in the realm of darkness. A Pity, as Vanitas had once gotten to wander that realm, and the sheer destruction was something he enjoyed.
Vanitas had been hoping from Rooftop to rooftop to keep out of sight of the world’s citizen population. Best not to raise a panic, yet. He’d already sent a few Unversed to explore as well, mostly clustered near that old mansion in the woods. But there was some sort of other creature that existed in this world. These Nobodies, these creatures that existed, and yet didn’t. They seemed much more prevalent at this world, as opposed to the others. Perhaps it was something about the worlds inbetween that drew the empty shells of people too them? Hard to say.
Coming to a rest at a Rooftop over a large common where some contraptions ran around on track lines, Vanitas scanned the area with his eyes, face coming into view as his helmet faded from view, revealing that strikingly familiar face so many had commented on before. There was a certain scent that originated from this town. It was a sense of hope, a sense of happiness. It tasted disgusting. Vanitas much preferred the fear, the panic, the chaos. Heck, even a little bit of despair usually caught his attention. Speak of the devil… there was some right now.
Concealing himself partially behind a sign, Vanitas glanced down from the rooftop to lock into the scent of despair he had tasted on his tongue. The Common wasn’t too populated, but the scent was distinct. It seemed to arise from a girl, in a orange flowery shirt and beige khakis. Something about her was familiar to him, but it was distant, like a lost memory. Too far to recollect. Even so, this girl could prove tasty if exploited. Why might she be so despair, and how could he use it…
Roof hoping once more, Vanitas eventually ended up on one of the roofs that he deemed most would find a beautiful view. It looked out over the sunset, and you could just see above the wall and into the forests, and just beyond that, the mansion. To the back was the large Clocktower that stuck out like an eyesore in this world. Now to have a little fun. He waited till the girl was thoroughly away from any other person, then summoned a corridor. It’s entrance would open behind the brunette girl, and the distinct sound would no doubt catch her attention. If she elected to use it, the exit would open to just a few feet in front of Vanitas, in such a way that the girl would not see him on exiting, but the supposed beautiful scene of the woods in the distance and the old mansion. Then, only then, could he have his fun. |

Olette felt an icy cold trail on her hand. She jumped slightly and saw that her Sea-Salt Ice Cream was nearly completed melted. She threw the treat to the floor. There was no point to it anymore.
She waved her hand and got most of the sticky treat off her hand. While she did this, she heard something behind her.
Olette whirled around and saw a dark, swirling portal before her. Her heart thumped so loudly she was sure all of Twilight Town could hear it. Another portal. She stepped back three years, when Axel had come from the same exact portal. It's blackness scared Olette as she took a step back.
No one came out. It was empty as if inviting her to come inside. She could feel the pull in her blood and bones, her whole body wanting to shuffle forward, all but her feet. She had seen such a portal before... when the redheaded man had taken Kairi. She rubbed her arms and looked around. There was no one there but herself. How she must look... a lone girl ripe for the taking. What if the portal led to another world?
With that thought she finally entered the portal, closing her eyes. Another world. She had dreamed of another world--a place so fantastic it took her breath away. With creatures she couldn't name and people she didn't know. She wanted to be free of this twilit town and run among the unknown.
The portal opened again. She took a step forward, eyes closed, eyes closed. Where would she find herself.
She opened her green, green eyes.
Olette found herself standing in front of the decrepit Mansion. It stared at her solemnly as a crushing disappointment overwhelmed her. Her shoulders hunched as she looked around the familiar forest. Everything here was the same disappointing twilight. Olette sucked back tears and shame. Of course the portal would only lead her in circles. Of course. She was much more logical than to believe anything else.
"Just the Mansion..." she murmured.

Evil tastes the tears of fear! tearing down your helpless fate
Vanitas grinned as he saw the girl whirl about from where he was, watching her from the roof on high and seeing her look at the portal. It seemed as though she was contemplating whether to use it or not, and Vanitas had to hope ever so dearly that she would. Just that briefest of moments within the dark corridor might begin to affect her, and that was something he wanted early. He could smell her fear from here, could heart the beating of her heart within her chest. He just knew deep down in his bones that that girl wanted o much to wander her way into that swirling dark corridor. At such a short distance, stepping through the portal would be literally stepping out at the same time, not like when traversing the corridors for long distances, where you walked in darkness for many minutes, perhaps even hours, if the worlds were sperated enough.
The girl had finally stepped through, and Vanitas grinned as he made his way to the opening. He roof hopped and quickly made his way to the mansion just as Olette was stepping out, Grinning like a mad dog as he stepped quietly behind her once the portal had closed, the girl opening her eyes to look upon the location. Vanitas smirked and kept his face open, watching the girl from behind and tasting her emotions. So much potential in this little girl for so much. Now she was just a simple citizen, but soon? She could be exposed to so, so much more. He could taste her delicious despair at finding out it only lead to the mansion, and Vanitas knew exactly what she wanted. She wanted to travel the worlds. Perfect.
“…Yet so much more.” Vanitas said in response to the girl’s murmur, smiling behind her and stepping around to stand beside her, looking to the Mansion. He glanced over to her from the corner of his eyes, judging her reaction. To be safe, he toned down his creepy level just a bit, putting on a false, but genuine smile and rasijng his eyebrows just enough to make him look friendly. He would use this girl. Manipulate her and her feelings. She would gift him with her delicious emotions. |

She accused as she turned to face the stranger. Except it wasn't a stranger at all. Olette literally gasped from shock, stumbling back a step. Spiky hair. Wide wild eyes. A face punctuated with a smile she remembered after all these years. Her own eyes were wide as her hands fluttered around in shock. She shook her head, trying to rid her eyes of this illusion. It couldn't be. Not now. Of course, he had changed. His hair was black and his eyes a strange, creepy yellow. And there was a feeling she lacked when she stood so close to him, but felt whenever she thought of him from a distance. She missed him. A warming feeling flooded her body as she remembered him so clearly--her best friend had finally returned to her. She ignored the fact that something was wrong, that something was missing about him. Olette's happiness could not be disguised. Her heart drummed with it and her spirit danced. You could see it in those green eyes that sparkled with a joy so true she begged it not to leave. She held out a hand as if testing if this was a dream or not. It had to be a dream--she only saw him in her dreams anymore. But she could feel the light breeze cool her hand and hear the rustle of the trees. She could see the shadows of the forest so clearly, how could she dream this? "Sora!" she cried and leaped toward him, wrapping him in a hug. She tightened her grip. There was no way she was letting him go again soon. She didn't want him to walk away without a good-bye or answering her burning, aching questions. Yet, under her arms, he felt cold and lost. Like she was hugging just a statue and nothing more. She didn't care. Just like she didn't care about Sora's obvious changes. "Sora... you came back." She peered up at him with green eyes. "What happened to you?"[/ul]

Evil tastes the tears of fear! tearing down your helpless fate
Theme: Sinister Sundown Tagged: Olette, Vani Comments:How long can he keep the charade up?
The girl spoke in an accusing tone, her words telling that perhaps Vanitas words struck a deeper cord. Clearly his words of much more, meant to imply that the fact she had traveled even this short distance was something, held a second meaning for the girl. Perhaps this mansion hid some secrets within. Perhaps, within it’s hallowed walls, there was something worth finding. Knowledge for Xehanort, perhaps? He would know eventually. Once done with this girl, Vanitas would traverse it’s depths and discover within the secrets this Mansion held.
However, the girl had seemed to react much differently when she actually turned to look upon Vanitas. Her eyes seemed to widen and she stumbled back. Vanitas turned to face her, keeping his façade of a friendly exterior to continue to manipulate this girl. But why was she acting so odd? Was it something about his appearance. Yes, he still wore his normal armored uniform, but was that really something so odd? Perhaps he best look into a second set of exterior clothes. The other keybearers of his time once traveled with armors. Perhaps he could gind clothes to make him look normal? Perhaps this very world might help with that.
Focusing on the girl, Vanitas began to feel the emotions rising within her. So many conflicting feelings. Shock, remembrance, love, but not of lovers. Love of a friend. Confusion as well, joy, sadness… they were so varied, and so tasty. He might have had to send his Unversed out to feed, if it weren’t for the façade he had to keep up. He watched her hand come out, and then suddenly the words rang in his ears just as she was leaping to hug him.
“Sora!”
|
Shock had hit Vanitas at hearing that, he breathed in a harsh breath just as he was suddenly hugged, and had to think fast. Instinctivly he wanted to push away, avoid this girl now at all costs. Sora. That was the name of the boy who’s face he had copied. This girl knew Sora? This girl knew of him? Did she know him personally, or as a distant friend? It made sense her reaction now, but what to do?! Manipulation before had been on the stance she was ignorant of most things. Yet this implied something else. How could he manipulate a friend of Sora? Easily.“H-Hey!” he said, doing his best do keep an upbeat, cheery, and light attitude. It was a mask, but one the girl would hopefully not see through her in daydreaming bliss. Well, joy and happiness was still an emotion he could use. Not as useful as the dark emotions, but ones he could use. He quickly moved to hug the girl back as well. Smiling a bright smile and looking down at the girl. Crap. Her name. He didn’t know her name! This would cause problems, deep deep problems. “Yeah, I did. Told I would.” Oh how he hoped he was right in guessing Sora had said he’d come back one day. Her question of what happened to him caused only a short pause for Vanitas to think of how best to speak, what best to say. “A lot happened. I’ve been to a lot more place, seen a lot of things. I’ve been learning new skills too. Great skills, to help my friends!” Ugh. How that word tasted vile on his tongue. But he had to keep up the act. “What about you? How’ve things been?”[/div]

template by synchronicity

look different. The raven black hair and yellow eyes sent chills down her spine and goosebumps raised on her arms. But that smile was just the same, though something was unmistakably missing. "Wow, that sounds like a lot of fun," Olette mused. How had things been for her? She smiled tightly, her lips in a perfect smile she had trained for years. She tried to think of the good things--how she and Hayner and Pence still sometimes wandered to the clock tower and ate their ice cream. She didn't mull over the fact that those days were rare now, that college was fast approaching the trio. While Hayner was insistent they go to the local college Olette knew she was ready for escape. She was ready to run headlong into a blurry destiny. One where her friends could not follow. She didn't want to tell Sora about her mother. Or her cluttered house. Or her sick grandmother. Everything in Twilight Town was meant to be perfect to the onlooker's eye. What would the town say if they knew her mother was never home, leaving behind a stink of alcohol and stranger's numbers strewn on the floor while her mother gasped for air in critical care? What would Sora say if he knew about her pathetic existence? How it wasn't as grand as she tried to make it all seem? Straight-A Olette. Responsible Olette. Perfect, pretty Olette. All the things she's heard since she was little. That wasn't her life at all. She just did what she had to. She shifted slightly, nibbling very slightly on her thumb nail. A bad habit. She could hear her mother scowling now as if she were with the two. "What a nasty little habit Ollie!" "Everything has been really great here. You know us, same as always." Olette assured him with another tug of a smile. God, she could fake it so well. But for how long? "I-I really missed you," she admitted shyly, looking away and twisting the hem of her orange shirt.[/ul]

Evil tastes the tears of fear! tearing down your helpless fate
She seemed to muse that ‘Sora’s’ adventures sounded like fun. Good. So that meant that she seemed to be buying at least. As long as this girl did not get wise to the façade going on, perhaps Vanitas could use her to his own end. Perhaps, he could even trap her somewhere special… somewhere…
Of course. he thought, withholding the urge to smirk with a devilish look in his eyes. Instead he kept up the bright smile that his odd estranged counterpart Sora might put on. Somehow he was connected to this boy, and he would find out soon. he was tired of all this dancing around and wanted to get answers, but he couldn’t rightfully just start asking this girl. He had to play this right. He had to do it just perfectly. If he was lucky, he’d even get her to go right where he wanted.
The girl seemed to pause, and Vanitas had to hope she wasn’t caught or that she was getting on to him. Perhaps he could play this out just how he wanted, but only if he pulled out all the stops. He still knew so little of this Sora but side-long knowledge. He had to hope it’d be enough. She seemed to come back and then said that it’d been great. A good faker, this girl, but Vanitas could read her emotions even when she hid them. Most others wouldn’t, but emotions to Vanitas were as plain as day. She was all wound up in them. She would be so… so delicious!
And then there was that word. Us. That meant more. So presumably, there were others in this world that knew Sora, and this girl hung out with them? Good, good. That’d make for even more emotion. Take the girl, leave the other two in a panic as they can’t find her. Perhaps even find them and let them try and find her. Oh the joy that’d be. “I’m missed you too, the whole gang! It’s been to long since I was last here.” Vanitas beamed a smile that would look genuine, but have the ever so slight hint of missing the real emotion behind it. Yet this girl was so lost in her emotions and thoughts, he might be able to get away with this. But not for long. Time to make the move.
“I’ve seen a lot of places in my travels. Beautiful places. Nothing as beautiful as Twilight Town, but beautiful in their own right. So amazing…” he hoped to make her jealous, yearn to see these worlds. Presumably, if she was friends with Sora, she knew of them then, yes? Perhaps she had never even been off world before! “You’d never believe some of the places I’ve seen. Great castles in the sky. Undersea kingdoms, grand jungles… I wish I could show you guys these places!”
Vanitas accentuated his words by turning away from Olette and raising his arms to the sky, taking a few steps from her and trying to make everything so exciting. If he could get her excited, then the next phase would be all too simple. “But you guys are probably good with just being here though. I mean, who’s want to leave thiss place, right?”
Hopefully, she took the bait… |
