((This is the result of struggling with the muse >.<.))
It had been a while since her father and the others had left to fight the dangers that was now beginning to invade the world. Since the group had left, Marlene and Denzel had been left with a neighbor. The neighbor was kind to both of them and Marlene enjoyed the company of the family and Denzel; however, she was not complete happy. Despite putting on a smile for the others, she still worried for her father and the others. When she had time to herself, she often stood by the window looking at the sky, wondering if everyone was okay.
Her worry only increased when things seemed to turn for the worse in their world. A darkness had taken over Gaia and strange creatures had cropped up everywhere. During those dark days, she and Denzel had to stay inside for the most part as the neighbor wouldn't let them wander the streets. She couldn't blame the lady. Marlene had seen those strange creatures running in the streets attacking people and had even seen one try to get into the house. She didn't understand what the creatures were or what they wanted, but she remembered how she felt watching those creatures from the window....afraid.
Through the dark times in her world, she did her best to remain hopeful that the darkness and those creatures would go away. It had been tough, but in the end things had turned out well. For this she was very happy. With the creatures gone and the city back to normal for the most part, she was able to go outside and play. She was also able to check up on places she had been afraid might have been destroyed in the darkness. Denzel had come with her on the treks to the bar and also to the church. The pair of them had been happy that both places were safe and after much convincing, the neighbor let them take care of the bar. For Marlene this brought much joy as she remembered back to when Sephiroth was alive.
Back then her father and the others had left to stop him from destroying the world. In their absence, she had stayed behind and took care of the bar, much like she did now. The task was comforting. She knew her family would come back and when they did she'd be there to greet them; however, today was different. Unlike most days where Marlene stayed at the bar with Denzel, today she was actually by herself in a place that calmed her--the church.
Even through all the trouble that had passed over the world, this one place had remained the same. Sure, it had some new additions to it, like the giant hole of water that still remained at its center, but despite that, flowers still grew in the area. It was these small yellow flowers that Marlene was kneeled in front of as she hummed a song to herself.
She did not know why, but the church had always calmed her. It had a soothing atmosphere that eased all her worries and somehow reassured her that everything would be alright. Perhaps it was because of the flowers or maybe the person who had once tended to flowers such as these that brought her a sense of safety even when alone. She wasn't sure.
Whatever it was about the place that caused her to love it so was beyond her, but she liked the way it made her feel even when danger was around. At least, she was happy and safe. As she continued to hum to herself and tend to the flowers, she wondered if anyone would come today. It would be nice to see everyone again. At least with everyone around, she would not have to worry as much. She just wanted something-- anything-- to tell her they were okay.

Razfahd continued his way through Midgar. The red-armored man had only just awakened and still unsure on what was going on. There were no ideas on where he could be, so far it seemed to be not Vana'diel, but perhaps it still was. The Grand Vizier had never truly left Aht Urhgan. They had cut off all contact with the nations outside and kept to themselves for so long. It had been only recently that they had suddenly opened up to the other nations again, and it was such a sudden action that the other nations made a reaction to it. Which had caused all his plans to fall apart, which perhaps had been the best thing to happen.
Memories came back from how he attempted to summon Alexander, how his sister tried to stop him and the ones he considered 'spies' and 'enemies' were actually trying to save them. He had always thought that he was going to save their nation, but in the end he almost destroyed it. Ragnarok almost came for a second time, and this time by his doings. He had sacrificed himself afterwards to stop the weakened Alexander from this and the man he had shown great hatred had stopped Odin. All he had done was misjudging people. Misjudging the pirate, misjudging the mercenary, misjudging even his sister, which had shown to be a great empress.
He carried the blood of beastmen, so perhaps he was truly a beast. A monster that shouldn't even have tried to exist, all he had done was cause trouble. After all the events he suspected it would be best to remain out of sight of his former people. Although he needed to learn where he was first, if it even was Vana'diel, maybe he now stood on a completely different world. The world of the Avatars was the best idea that had come to his mind, most likely Alexander's home.
As he continued his way, he felt a stare, as if he was being watched, but it felt unnatural. It was like he was being stared by a monster. A fellow monster, perhaps, he reminded himself, then he thought of Alexander, which would most likely come after him. Especially after what he had done. First helping him to return in the world, then casting him out again. It could even be minions, out for revenge for their master.
The Grand Vizier at least didn't feel save and tried one of the buildings, well... He had walked up to an area that had a church that didn't seem to have barred doors unlike most other houses he saw around him. The armored man walked to the door and silently opened it. He quickly came through and closed the door behind him as he looked around himself. The place seemed to have been beaten badly, so he didn't expect himself to be save, but at least it was more open. He also noticed life. From flowers, which he hadn't seen so far on this world, and from a young girl.
The feeling of a stare vanished after he entered as well. Slowly he moved forward, his armor making small sounds while he walked towards the flowers and the girl, but still keeping some distance. "Gr- Hello, young friend." It seemed strange to speak very formal to someone this young, especially in a place like this. Which also made him wonder how the girl could wear such good clothes, so he didn't bother himself with the problem having some good armor himself. Unless that was strange in this place. The Grand Vizier waited for an answer, hoping not to get a scream or some unnatural sounds like as if the girl was some monster in the form of a young Hume.

Marlene was content humming and tending the flowers when she heard a sound from behind her--the doors to the church opening. She stood and turned to greet the one who had entered, hoping it was her father or Tifa or any of the others. As she turned she had a smile on her face, but it quickly vanished and became a look of worry and fear as she found that this person that had entered was not anyone she knew.
She took a small step back as he moved towards her. Who was this person in red armor? And what did he want? He didn't look like anyone from Gaia at all. This strangness made her worry increase. If he wasn't from Gaia then... where was he from? Was he a monster of some sort? He looked human, but so had that man with the silver hair that had fought Tifa some time ago and captured her. And that man in her eyes was a monster...him and the other two... She shook her head mentally and focused on the man in front of her.
She didn't have anyone with her to save her this time and even though she wanted to flee, she was frozen to spot with a mixture of fear and indecisiveness. Even though this man appeared harmless, she knew better than to let looks alone guide her judgement. When he spoke, she frowned slightly at the words. Young friend?
Just who was this guy, anyway? And why did he greet her in such a way when she was certain she did not know him. For a moment, she didn't know what to say or do. Then slowly, she gained the courage to hold her ground for a while longer.
"H-hi," she responded back, trying to be brave despite her fear. "Umm...d-did you need something, sir?" she asked. She still held her ground as she watched this strange man. She was prepared to flee at any sign of danger. For now she'd stay, even though she wished someone else was with her. She did not like being alone with this stranger. Even so she would try to stay brave.

Razfahd frowned a bit, thinking he had used a bit too strange or too great words to attempt speaking to the youngster. It was strange for the Grand Vizier to speak to children at all, his work always required him to speak to more royal or high-ranking people. Unless they were soldiers, but they had to know how to act before a high-ranking member of the Empire. Instead he tried to find some good works to say to the girl.
After some time he spoke again, having discussed with himself on what to do next: "Sorry, I... I'm somewhat lost here. I'm neither sure nor... In any case the problem..." He then paused and sighed for a long time, hanging somewhat forward as he had no idea how to put it without scaring the girl. Finally he made a choice: "Do there live anyone else here? The... city... seemed to be greatly damaged... and the streets and buildings are... empty."
The girl's clothes still indicated on a more... or perhaps it was better to put it like a less damaged place. Either that, or there was a source of good clothing, even in an unlikely place like this. So far he had only seen this place and the first plant-life he had found was there as well. The entire city made it appear like Ragnarok happened, which was quite possible. Perhaps the Avatars came and destroyed the place, or perhaps even the entire world, which gave Razfahd some great fears on what might have happened to Aht Urhgan, if this world was Vana'diel.

Marlene watched the strange man frown and for a moment wondered what he was thinking. Even though she did not sense any hostility from him, she was still a bit worried. She waited quietly for him to speak again and when he did, he stumbled over his words making Marlene wonder what he was trying to ask.
He had mentioned he was lost, but what did that mean? Did he mean he was lost because he was not use to this part of town? Confused and a bit more concerned, Marlene took another step back as she noticed that he kept looking at her in a strange way. It almost like he was trying to figure something out. Still, she didn't like the look.
After he had stumbled over his words, the man sighed as he seemed to think of what to say next. Marlene watched him carefully. Finally, he spoke again, asking her if any else lived in the area and mentioned how the city seemed destroyed and empty. She frowned, puzzled by his words. Did he really not know what this place was and what had happened to Gaia? She began to wonder if he suffered from memory lost or something. That would explain the strange clothing and the questions. Perhaps it was this confusion that temporarily held back her fear and allowed her to answer with a bit more confidence than before.
"This part of the city is called Midgar. This place is one of the few that still stands here. The people have all moved to Edge to live. It's a bit of walk to get there, but it's not too bad. Umm...." she hesitated, but she just had to know. She let her curiosity get the best of her.
"Where are you from, anyway? And who are you?" she asked, looking at him puzzled. She had completely forgotten her fear for the moment and was now only interested into why this man seemed to not know where he was.

Razfahd listened to the girl's story. He knew nothing of some place called 'Midgar', but apparently he had just ended up there. Wherever it was. She also mentioned that everyone now lived in Edge, apparently some place less broke down. At least that was what he hoped to understand from the girl's words. Apparently it would require him to walk a bit, but he wouldn't care if he would find answers there.
After that she started to ask him a lot, which made him wonder if he should even mention where he was from and who he was. As he pondered about these things, he guessed it was best not to mention his place, Aht Urhgan, as it might be destroyed in this current timeline or perhaps he was in a different place where it didn't exist, he didn't want to frighten the girl with stories of a strange world. Neither he thought he should mention he was the Grand Vizier, but keep it at his name only. He hoped this world had at least water, in that case he could just say he came from some island.
Finally deciding on what to say, which he tried to minimize the time as much as possible so it didn't look like he was deep in thought. "I'm from an island and ended up here by accident from some... strange device," he explained, calling the avatar simply a device, after all, he was built. Or actually, the avatar possessed a machine that was built to come in the physical world. Thinking of Alexander got him somewhat angered, but he tried to swallow that away, so he didn't frighten the girl. "My name is Razfahd," he nodded his head to Marlene as an introduction, not bowing as it might seem strange here. Especially this was nothing formal, "and you are?" He returned the question polite.

Marlene watched as the strange man took in her words and then seemed to think for a second or two. She didn't know that this strange man was from another world and she didn't think that maybe the man was trying to figure out how to answer her questions without revealing anything about himself. All she knew was that the man was odd and maybe lost.
After she had gotten her questions out, she had become a lot calmer and now only sought to help the man. If all else failed, she could take him to the city. Maybe he could get help from the adults there. In any case, Marlene waited patiently for the man to respond. The brief hesitation didn't bother her. If the man was lost, then gaining the new information made him pause...at least that what Marlene told herself. She had seen many people pause and think after receiving new information before, so this had to be the case here. When the man finally spoke, Marlene took in his words and frowned a bit.
While she knew that there were probably islands out on the sea and probably a good ways from the land, she had never heard about islands with technology on it. Sure, Shinra and other parts of the city had technology, but an island? What made the story stranger was the mention of a strange device. Marlene took a moment to think herself.
"A strange device?" she finally asked as she titled her head. "You mean like a boat or submarine? Did it break?" she asked. Boats and submarines were not uncommon to find on the ocean. While she wasn't sure if a submarine was the answer, maybe a large boat was. If it was a boat then maybe she could help him find pieces for it and then he could go home!
With this idea in her head, she felt happier and more at ease with the man. When he introduced himself and told her his name, she smiled for the first time since they met and showed she was truly comfortable with his presence. When she was asked her name, she folded her arms behind her back and leaned forward slightly (much like Aerith would do) still smiling innocently.
"My name is Marlene. It's nice to meet you," she said, cheerfully.

Razfahd blinked confused, he understood a 'boat', but had no idea about a 'submarine'. However, he wondered what the girl meant with it and then figured they were actually close to water, no matter how impossible it seemed. Now he was entirely uncertain of how to answer the girl. However, he didn't think he'd get the chance to think of it right now. So immediately replied in a more vague way: "It's... somewhat similar, but..." he stopped there as he thought this seemed just confusing and played a bit with words instead: "Some sort of capsule, it can carry one person. It broke... got swallowed... The Avatar... Well, it's gone."
The Grand Vizier sighed as he had put up quickly lots of broken words. This just seemed like talking about stupid. "Do you know... Odin and Alexander?" He silently tried to ask, in an as careful manner as possible. Razfahd had no idea whether the world knew of the Avatars or not. It could be forgotten, but it was also possible that they were some sort of monsters here. The place was wrecked, so it was possible that Alexander came by and blew the place up.
Razfahd was thankful that he now had a name, Marlene. The Hume girl had become very curious, which he had tried to avoid, but no matter what he could do now, it would not end the curiosity or anything. This situation was one he had never expected or wanted to end up in. How did someone royal actually end up in conversation with a common girl that actually knew more than him. It just felt... disturbing and shameful.

Marlene watched the man carefully sensing his confusion, but not really understanding it. When he answered her question about the boat, she frowned a bit confused. His description didn't make any sense at all. A capsule that could hold one person? Avatar? What did all that mean? As her mind whirled with questions, Marlene heard him say that whatever the thing was had broke down and then ended up.... swallowed?! Swallowed by what was beyond her. In any case, when he finally said it was gone, Marlene looked down at the ground.
She felt bad for the man. Now that his vehicle, or whatever it was, was gone, she wondered if he'd be able to get back home. As she thought this, she secretly prayed for the man to be able to get home safely...and also for her family and friends to return home too. Also safely. She was still lost in thought when the man sighed. Marlene looked up at him to see what was wrong. To her, it seemed he was troubled again and having difficulty speaking with her.
As she observed the man for a moment, she wondered if the man had ever spoken with children before. Maybe he had not. After all, he wasn't doing a very good job with explainations....or helping her understand his situation. Marlene frowned, puzzled by the man and his behavior once again. As the thoughts crossed Marlene's mind, she again began to wonder just who the man was...or rather what he was. Was he even a man...?
Before the thoughts could get out of control the man spoke again. He was asking about two things called Odin and Alexander. Marlene remembered hearing names like that before, but couldn't remember who said them or why they had been said.
She shook her head at the man.
"No. I don't know those names. Are they people from where you come from?" she asked doing her best to try and help the man with his problem. It never crossed her mind that what the man spoke of were actually monsters....

Razfahd shook his head. It appeared that they either didn't exist here or the girl simply did not knew them. He did think he should explain it out to her and so started with Odin: "Odin is the Dark Rider, a being that was summoned into the world by a pirate that... tried to... stop me," he said the last part slow and a bit troubled, "Alexander is also an avatar that I summoned into the world using the colossus. However, afterwards Alexander planned to bring destruction to the world, so I stopped him and the pirate stopped Odin as both suddenly turned against us. In a large light I was sent away and woke up near here. I do not remember anything between, but I could see that Ragnarok was stopped and so the world would not be destroyed by my doing."
He crouched down to face the girl, "maybe that gives some nightmares, I'm sorry, but I had no idea how to explain. I've been a bit of a bad guy, so I tried to set things right. While I think I should not return home, I do want to protect my land, so wish to find and learn what happened to it. Whether Alexander returned or if none of the other nations attacked it. I hope nothing happened to my sister," he sighed as he dropped his head down, "I've done so many things wrong. I'm not sure if you understand."
Slowly he came up from the ground again as he looked around the church. "Do you know anyone who might know where to go? And... why are you here?" He asked curiously, "if there's a better place, this place seems like an unusual place to be. Unless you simply like the silence," he said with a smile. He would understand it if she just liked the quiet, but another thing that came to mind was that she might like the flowers. Seeing how he saw none other so far.

Marlene listened to the man speak. He had stopped being cautious and told her everything. While she did not understand him fully, she did understand that he was lost and trying to do better with his life. She watched as he kneeled down and continue to speak. He gave her the truth and seemed to regret what he did in the past. She had seen that troubled look before...that look of trying to do something that was difficult to set the past right....all alone. As she watched the man, she was briefly reminded of Cloud. As she thought about the spikey haired man, her mind came to some form of understanding with the strange man before her. He may have had a different life and maybe even had come from a place far away, but he was still trying to do what was right. She understood and accepted that. The similiarity made her feel even more comfortable with the man. As he stood up and asked if she knew where to go for information she thought for a moment. The city came back to mind again. There had to be someone there that could help. Once again, she wished her dad and the others were there to help, but since they were not, she'd do the best she could. She was on the edge of answering the man when he asked her a second question. It was about the church she was in. She saw his smile and smiled back slightly. “This place is special to me and makes me feel safe. Besides," she said and then turned slightly and looked at the flowers. “I like taking care of the flowers. They need love too, you know?" She turned back to the man with a gentle smile on her face. “Come on then," she said as she walked passed him and towards the door. “I'll take you to the city. I'm sure someone can help you out there," she said. She paused at the door and looked back at the man, gesturing for him to follow. After that, she opened the door again and headed out into the remains of the street, leading the way to the city. She paused every now and then to see if the man was following. Marlene has left the thread.
