Truth be told, this world was amazing.
It was completely unlike any other he has traveled too and if he had to be truthful, this world was actually his favourite so far! Of course, nothing would beat his home world of Gaia, but you had to admit that the architecture of this world was something to be in awe of. It felt like he had traveled back into the past. It was totally different to the likes of Midgar, Wutai and that Traverse Town. Traverse Town... that was such a sad day. Mainly because that it was the place where an old friend came to pay a visit... which ended up becoming a battle. It was sad. Angeal was a dear friend and it saddened the scarlet SOLDIER that his comrade was too caught up in wanting to fight for the Light that he couldn't see the danger the Light posed. S subtle shake of the head was the only action taken to that memory which didn't happen all that long ago. However, his concentration was broken when he heard his name being called out by the strange little goat-man.
"Hey! You with the long red coat!! Yeah you! I've been calling yer name for almost an hour now! You're Genesis right?!! Well your match is up to get your pretty bee-hind in that arena and start fighting!!" That's right. Whilst in Traverse Town, a civilian had handed him a small leaflet which promoted a new Tournament being held at the Olympus Coliseum. Not really being the one to enjoy fighting, his battle with Angeal had made him realize just how unfit he had become from having spend so much time alone inside the Flooded Cavern. It might end up becoming a complete disaster and huge embarrassment, but the oppertunity to regain his strength and touch up on his swordsmanship didn't sound like too bad an idea. After all, if he was going to end up fighting Angeal and perhaps Zack Fair again in the future, he was going to need to become more powerful, especially if the balance of Light and Dark was going to be restored. So here he was, entering himself into this Tournament to test himself. "Yes, that's right. Very well..." Genesis said calmly as he strode past the goat-man and walked out into the arena.
Boy was he in for a surprise!
The deafening roar of the crowds nearly knocking him off his feet. How could so many people turn up to watch someone fight, whom they never even heard of before? Casting his memory back, he didn't recall anything like this on Gaia... except perhaps the Battle Arena inside the Golden Saucer, but that was against monsters caught from the wilds. Was this place similar to that? It seemed dangerous to have the audience so close to the field of battle... perhaps there was more to this then met the eye? Regardless, the scarlet SOLDIER made his was out from the entrance and over towards the raised fighting area. Hopping up the steps, he walked out into the center and and patiently stood his ground, waiting to see who or what his opponent was going to be. He felt so small compared to these crowds... It was strange. Still, it would be smart if he armed himself, so after causally raising his right arm out to his side, a long string of fire shot out from his palm before materializing into his Rapier. The crowd 'Ooooo'ed' at this which brought a faint smile to the SOLDIER's lips.

Selena she had not visited this world in a long while and in her mind, she still had not figured out why. It was full of light and much safer than the dark worlds her heart tends to label as her 'training ground's' such as the End of the World. The dark keybearer had even felt challenged during her last visit as she first fought the Heartless during the first few rounds then fighting Yazoo during the final round and she still can't even remember who had won. Yet as the dark keybearer returned to check the "Oye, Artemis! You're up!" Sitting against the wall of the 'waiting room', the winged woman glanced at Phil and stood up. The dark keybearer wasn't wearing the trademark velvet cloak (It was currently in tatters.) that she was known to cover both her wings, only the tank top and jeans tucked in the combat boots. The Mark had now completely cover her arms. There was a hint of the black vine 'tattoos' on her collarbone. For this round, 'Artemis' did not intend to hold back even if it meant 'showing off' the wings she had received from the Darkness so long ago. The dark keybearer silently nodded at the small goat man and walked through the door that would lead her to the arena. As 'Artemis' stepped onto the arena, she was startled by the loud crowd and the brightness of the arena itself. The winged woman felt like she had just walked out of a dark tunnel. She quickly rubbed her eyes with her right hand and soon got used to the lighting. However, the crowd itself unnerved her. Are they already used to stranger things than a woman with wings in the Coliseum?[/i]wondered 'Artemis' as she finally notes the man clad in the red coat. "And don't let her angelic appearance fool you folks, our second competitor is a dark warrior not from this world! Give it up for 'Artemis'! "...'Angelic'....?" muttered 'Artemis' quietly, no definite emotion evident in her voice as she questioned the adjective the announcer had used to described her. After Genesis summoned his blade, she summons her own weapon, Heartsickness keyblade, to her right hand causing the crowd to roar even louder, "A swordsman huh...Good luck." With a smirk gracing her pale face, she charged at Genesis with a three-slash combination; a horizontal from the left, an upward vertical, then a diagonal from the upper right before jumping backwards as instinctive precaution. Selena's heart knew that she was going to have fun this round even if she were to lose.

Taking a moment to peer around the crowds that had gathered to watch this new Tournament, the proud SOLDIER could merely speculate the reasons as to why a huge gathering would occur. Though the answer was simple; entertainment. There must have been something going on in these worlds that caused suffering, pain and chaos, in order for the people to come here and watch the battles and events that took place. It was obvious that trouble was brewing in many worlds, because nearly everyone within the arena wore clothing that didn't match the period that the Coliseum itself was built in. Long flowing togas came to mind, but the scarlet SOLDIER's attention was brought back to reality when the small goat-man yelled out to introduce his opponent for this round. Slowly turning around with Rapier still in hand, Genesis laid his eyes upon his opponent.
~Wings? Well... isn't that a surprise. I don't recognize her though...~ The scarlet coated man thought to himself as he listened to the crowd roar even louder when his female opponent drew her weapon. The wings came as a surprise, but it was the weapon which was held within the young woman's hand, which caused his eyes to widen. Was that a key? What was she thinking, joining a Tournament using a large key as her weapon? Did she think they'd be using foam weapons or water pistols? This was a battle! What was that key going to do in regards to defense against his Rapier, which was a real sword?! Tilting his head a fraction at the woman before him as he listened to her words, Genesis merely stood his ground and pondered the situation. Something didn't feel right with this girl... She seemed way too confident for someone who wasn't even wielding a real weapon. Though before the SOLDIER could say anything, she was already incoming with an attack!
Not really knowing what to expect, Genesis raised up his Rapier and swung the long crimson blade into 'Artemis'' keyblade, sending sparks flying from the steel smashing against steel. Though the scarlet SOLDIER's eyes widened again as he felt the recoil from the impact. What on Gaia was that key made from!?!? Unable to react in time due to being momentarily bewildered, the second strike from the winged female was barely blocked, sending his sword-arm skywards from the recoil. Thus the third strike found it's mark, swinging and slamming into his left shoulder. A grunt escaped the SOLDIER's lips, but instead of staggering backwards from the impact, the SOLDIER actually jumped forwards when the Keyblade met his body. Matching his opponent in the instant he saw her jump away, Genesis threw out a harsh Counter horizontally from left to right across her lower torso. Genesis really didn't like being struck in combat, especially when he was unprepared.
Griping his Rapier tightly, the man in the scarlet coat dug his heels into the floor and swiftly brought the long crimson blade back across himself, slashing the blade with haste horizontally from right to left this time, aiming the bladed edge of his sword towards her upper torso. Following his action, the scarlet SOLDIER took a large side step off to his left, spinning away to hopefully avoid any further confrontation with that strange Key. The twisting of his body caused the long tail of his coat to blow out behind him, coming to a rest against the back of his legs when the SOLDIER came to a stand still, only a short distance away from the winged woman. Staring at her in silence for a moment, Genesis peered at the black pauldron covering his left shoulder and took note of the very fine slash within it. Returning his eyes to the female, he spoke up for a moment. "What is that object within your hands, to cause such recoil and to tear through my armour as if it wasn't there?" He asked curiously. With that said and done, Genesis brought his Rapier up before himself and ran his left hand down the length of the crimson blade, causing it a bright red glow to shine across it's entire surface. Imbue Sword covered the blade with a magic aura, strengthening it's guard and attack. Lets see how that Key would fare now.

When 'Artemis' had made her slash combo, the dark warrior hadn't realized that the element of surprise was on her side until her first slash connected with his Rapier that had sent sparks everywhere. Her eyes of ice saw the shock on her opponent's face as her second slash had sent his sword arm upward. On the third slash, her Heart felt regret as the Heartsickness keyblade connected with his shoulder. However, this was a tournament so the keybearer ignored that particular emotion.
It was dark warrior's turn to be surprised as the SOLDIER jumped toward her the exact moment she had jumped away. Selena's warrior instinct helped her by blocking the horizontal slash with the keyblade, sending another flurry of sparks flying as their blades met. Her feet had not even touched the ground as her choice of weapon met the red sword once again to avoid the right to left slash. After that block, 'Artemis' had almost fallen backwards as Genesis spun away as if he thought that she was going to send an attack right then. She didn't.
A few quick flaps from her wings helped the dark warrior regain her balance as her boots gently touched the ground. In case he was to attack again, she carefully watched the SOLDIER with suspicion in her silver eyes. Genesis had caught her off guard when he had attacked when she had jumped away and his question about her choice of weapon shouldn't have surprised her but it did. During the past few months, 'Artemis' had met so many keybearers that she had begun to assume that everyone knew of the keyblade.
"It's a keyblade, sir." answered the winged woman quietly as she realized that it had direct contact with his armor and not flesh. That knowledge provided some relief to her already heavy conscience. My keyblade's poison shouldn't effect him as long it didn't have contact with his skin...muses 'Artemis' as she watches Genesis ran his hand across his blade with a magic that allowed it glow crimson. The dark angel gripped her own Heartsickness keyblade tight but stayed in her current position. Her heart's instinct had whispered a bad omen into her mind. That if 'Artemis' were to attack now, she will regret it.

Twirling the long, glowing Rapier around his hand a couple of times, a long crimson streak following in the wake of the blade which hummed with the magical energy surrounding it, the Scarlet SOLDIER kept his bright blue eyes locked onto 'Artemis' own silver orbs. Little expression was seen upon his features as he heard the answer given to him from the winged woman. Was she a fiend or a monster? Since when did women grow wings and used large keys as weapons? Questions ran through his mind constantly, making the man in the scarlet coat wonder if either Angeal, Zack or even Sephiroth had any information for him in regards to this 'Keyblade'. Flexing his fingers around the black handle of his Rapier, Genesis momentarily closed his eyes and let out a small 'hmm' of satisfaction. "A Keyblade? Never heard of such a thing. I assume its one of these 'wonders' that came with the arrival of all these new worlds, huh? And what of you? Do those who wield a 'Keyblade' give themselves a title? A Key Master or a Key Knight?"
Genesis raised his Rapier up, the blade still imbued with his magical energies. Pointing the long blade in 'Artemis's' direction, the SOLDIER narrowed his eyes as his tone become more stern. Peering at her at is looking through her, the LOVELESS fan spoke up. "And what side are you on? Your appearance and style of your 'Keyblade' would assume your ally yourself with the Darkness. I feel a great Darkness within you as well... Tell me. What do you think of the state of the worlds?" Taking a few steps forwards after finishing his sentence, the auburn-haired man gave his opponent a moment to answer before he suddenly raised his Rapier up above his head, pointing the weapon towards the heavens. "All that awaits you is a somber morrow, No matter where the winds may blow." Genesis said, before a bright aura suddenly surrounded the SOLDIER, his magical strength fluctuating rapidly before a gigantic rune materialized out of nothing, appearing in the air above his head, aiming itself in 'Artemis's' direction. Genesis' coat was blowing out behind him wildly as a powerful breeze starting to be coming from his person, blowing out in all directions. A moment later and the large rune in the sky was complete, which then glowed brightly itself before firing down several bolts of magic energy towards 'Artemis'. Genesis' Apocalypse had introduced itself to the Tournament.
Another bright flash ended the spell, after roughly 8 bolts had been fired towards 'Artemis' from the Apocalypse. Lowering his sword arm down, bringing the long glowing weapon before his body, Genesis' left hand began to glow brightly this time, a second spell charging itself up. Raising his arm before himself, switching places with his Rapier, a large fireball appeared within his hand which burnt brightly, furiously. A small smirk appeared across the SOLDIER's lips as he jumped backwards, swinging his arm before himself from right to left and then back again. Flash tore itself out of the SOLDIER's hand with each swing, launching 5 'Flashes' in the winged woman's direction resulting in 10 being fired in total. Each Flash seemed to have a tracking ability, which caused the balls of flame to turn within the air and home in on their target. Taking another short jump backwards, the Scarlet SOLDIER raised his Rapier up and held it before him defensively. "My friend, do you fly away now? To a world that abhors you and I?"

When their eyes locked, the winged keybearer felt herself mentally wince at how cold Genesis' unnaturally bright eyes were. They reminded her of a certain memory long buried in more than several feet of ice and locked like a skeleton in a closet that had just started to dig itself out. Cold eyes with a maniac's voice calling her 'monster' and wishing her to die. Her Heart quickly cages it and moves it away from the forefront of her mind back to the place where she kept her darkest memories. However, Selena briefly wonders if her own silver eyes, appeared just as cold, if not colder. 'Artemis' kept her silence as Genesis threw his questions of the keyblade at her. She didn't even appear to react as when he brought up the question on a keybearer's 'title'. The dark keybearer wasn't sure how to answer most of his questions about keybearers because it wasn't until a while back, maybe a month or two, that she had discovered that there were other keybearers other than herself. As far as 'Artemis' was aware, there was no known title for someone who wielded a keyblade other than 'keybearer'. Keeping her eyes locked on the scarlet SOLDIER, the winged woman kept a tight grip on her keyblade, which was both a blessing and a curse to her, as Genesis pointed his Rapier at her. The words he had said next had her eyes widen slightly as she was unaware that it was possible to sense Darkness and Light. However, 'Artemis' was fast to regain her composure and decided to humor him by answering his question with an answer and a question of her own. "You are correct when you claim that I am one of the Dark...But what do you mean 'the state of the worlds'?"As Genesis raised his blade to the sky, 'Artemis' could feel her warrior instinct silently whisper to her Heart that he was going to attack soon. She watched the bright aura surround him and sensed the power radiating from him. Is he like Terra...?! One who abhors the Dark so much that he'll destroy anyone with it, like me?!wonders the dark keybearer in a brief panic that caused her eye color to flicker between silver and reptilian gold for barely more than ten seconds. Within the seconds though, she saw runes starting to glow underneath her and by instinct, jumped backwards out of the rune circle just in time for the lightning show. However, the flash ending the technique caused her to look away and left her almost completely vulnerable for the upcoming attack. 'Artemis' was hit by the first three Flashes but then the dark keybearer started to slash through the other seven with her Heartsickness keyblade and began to run toward the SOLDIER with determination aflame in her silver eyes. Her Heartsickness keyblade was also aflame with a strange silver flame, Heart's Blood. She jumped toward him and performed a five-slash combination; diagonal from the top right to lower left, left horizontal, right horizontal, diagonal from top left to lower right, and ended with a vertical slash. "My friend, do you fly away now? To a world that abhors you and I?" [/i][/center] Suddenly, the winged woman suddenly spread her wings and with a huge flap from her wings, she flew back and gracefully landed on her feet. 'Artemis' had burn marks on both arms and one on the right side of her neck where the three Flashes had hit her and they hurt like hell. Her hair was a bit singed and the wind blew her hair up, revealing a single scar between the temple and the scalp from a different person with silver hair and a temper to match the flames that had recently burned her. The burns, her darkness staining her Heart, her Heartsickness keyblade and the cold, fierce expression gracing her face that screamed 'dangerous' was a long cry from who she had been ten years ago. If only you knew...How true those words are...muses Selena sadly, reminiscing her own home world.

The Scarlet SOLDIER never grew tired of watching the display his Apocalypse brought about and was actually pretty impressed that his Tournament opponent had successfully gotten away from the magic spell unscathed. Very impressed, actually. Looking back, there wasn't a time he had ever seen someone evade that spell. A small smile spread across his lips at the thought that he had actually found someone who was possibly even stronger then his good friend, Sephiroth. Though there would be time for him to inquire more about this woman after their match had ended. Already he had learned something new, about this woman and gaining knowledge on these 'Keyblades'. What were they? Was her own weapon even greater then his Rapier? Would one of these stand up to a flurry of attacks from Sephiroth's Masamune or Zack's Buster Sword? There was indeed much he wanted to ask this winged woman, but realized that if he won this round, she might depart the world while he progressed onto the next round.
So then what? Should he lose and wait for this 'Artemis' to either be eliminated herself or perhaps win the whole Tournament? But the thought that the next opponent could also be a Key Knight, or whatever these people were called... was just far too tempting to pass up. Yet the Scarlet SOLDIER also didn't want to allow the opportunity for this female to leave the world without him, or at least without informing him as to where her next location would be. Decisions, decisions. Genesis' attention was brought back to reality upon hearing three successful Flash spells find their target, only to have his eyes widen slightly at the sight of the winged woman slashing her way through the rest of them as if they were made out of paper. Sephiroth did exactly the same during their training together in the Shin-Ra HQ Building... Could their power truly be on the same level??
Through the small cloud of dust caused from the impact of the three Flash spells, Genesis caught sight of a figure moving towards him, a large Key in hand. Readying himself and making sure his Imbue Sword was still in affect, Genesis took hold of his Rapier with both hands, giving himself more stability from the incoming attacks. A swift throw of his arms to the left resulted in a clash of steel, sparks flying. A jump backwards made the sound of steel slicing through air reach his ears. Planning to jump back a second time to evade the return slash, Genesis found himself pinned up against... nothing?! A strange barrier seemed to be in effect, protecting the crowds it would seem from stray spells and perhaps debris from the floor if it got ruined. Moving back was no longer an option and there wasn't enough time to bring hi s Rapier around to block the attack... "Dammit!!" Genesis hissed as he could only watch as the Keyblade smashed into the left side of his torso, tearing a nice slash through his coat, his shirt and also neatly cutting his flesh deep enough to make it bleed steadily. And damn did it sting!!
If there was anything the Scarlet SOLDIER disliked the most, it was to be struck in combat. Fire flashed within his bright blue eyes as he felt his adrenaline start pumping, enraging him, giving him strength. With an almost berserker-like motion, Genesis threw out his Rapier viciously in two attacks, blocking the remaining strikes with as much malice as his body could muster. Fortunately, the winged woman's combo ended there, which could have been disastrous for the SOLDIER if it hadn't. Watching with narrowed eyes, glaring at 'Artemis', the Scarlet SOLDIER eyed her wings and momentarily questioned himself on possible theories as to how she may have got them. But the time for discussion has passed. This was a Tournament and the auburn-haired man was not going to lose in the first round. Perhaps it was time to reveal his own little secret? Carefully pushing himself off the barrier that surrounded the area, Genesis dusted off his damaged pauldron before lifting his coat up to inspect the wound on his torso. A clean slice and it stung like mad... almost as if it was infected.
His bright blue eyes turned cold, almost dangerously so as he locked his vision back onto his opponent. Was there a coating upon her Key that might inject the wounded? Wouldn't that count as cheating, breaking rules perhaps? Though upon further examination, the SOLDIER could not see any signs of a liquid or other coating upon her weapon. Genesis just eventually closed his eye for a moment, lowering his head to divert his gaze to the ground and just smiled to himself. "Infinite in mystery is the gift of the goddess, We seek it thus, and take to the sky." He said, throwing his left arm out to his side as he finished and releasing his Angel's Wing. A large, single black angel wing sprouted instantly from his left shoulder and beat a single time, lifting the SOLDIER off the ground slightly and 'throwing' him away from the barrier, further towards the center of the arena. Landing back on his feet, walking forwards a couple of steps to balance himself, the auburn-haired man reopened his eyes and locked his vision onto 'Artemis' watching her like she was a mouse and he were the owl.
"Ripples form on the water's surface, The wandering soul knows no rest." Genesis' wing beat a single time and he was instantly 'gliding' across the arena floor directly towards his opponent. His Rapier started to glow brightly and within mere seconds, he was within range to unleash his next attack; Dancing Sword. The crimson blade still glowing with magical energy, swung in horizontally from the right, before returning along it's path with a left horizontal slash. Twisting his hips, his large wing beating again to give him added forward momentum, Genesis followed up with three fast, hard thrusts. One aiming for 'Artemis's' stomach, a second heading for her chest and the third attempting to catch her in the throat. Not pausing, the Scarlet SOLDIER finished up his combo with the final, sixth strike. Leaping into the air almost instantly after the third thrust, Genesis swung his Rapier above his head before throwing his arms down, plunging the blade nearly hilt deep into the ground. The result was a large blast of magical energy erupting from around Genesis' person, a shockwave used to blast away nearby opponents.
Tugging his blade from the ground, the auburn-haired man winced and ended up holding the left side of his torso with his free arm. Whatever that Keyblade was made of, was certainly having an effect upon him. Beating his wing single time to give him some distance between he and his opponent. "There is no hate, only joy, For you are beloved by the goddess."

To her, the power of the keyblade wasn't dependent on its own strength or even its design. A blade, even a keyblade, cannot hurt or protect without the guidance of its wielder. How it had chose her was a different matter altogether. Selena has heard of only one theory from a certain Remnant that a only a strong Heart was needed to wield one but she doubted this. The dark keybearer didn't believe that her Heart was strong at all but was grateful of her keyblade's power all the same.
The presence of the barrier was something the dark keybearer had completely forgotten about until she had successfully wounded him during her combination. 'Artemis' felt grateful that it had not been herself who had backed into the barrier when the SOLDIER had used his Apocalypse spell.
The winged woman merely watched Genesis inspect his wound then glare at her and returned his glare with eyes of ice, just as she had feared earlier. She didn't like how he was staring at her as if she were a new specimen a scientist had just discovered but wondered if it was because of her wings or because of the strange weapon she wielded. Did he figure out that my keyblade is poisonous...?[/i]wondered 'Artemis' as she also considered if fighting without her cloak was such a good idea after all.
When the red-cloaked man recited a verse 'Artemis' did not recognize, the dark keybearer suddenly felt skeptical about the nonsense he spewed about. Selena had never payed attention to a world's religion and she had never believed in divine miracles. Her eyes widened as Genesis' single wing stretched out to the bright sky. Never meeting another winged human, the winged woman had believed that she had been the only one in existence.
The next verse Genesis had recited had hit home. As the SOLDIER seemed to 'glide at her, 'Artemis' felt her own Heart clench at the truth of them when one, if they should know of her true past, applied them to her. She blocked the first two slashes, creating more sparks as their blades met, and gracefully spun to the left in an attempt to dodge the first thrust; but it had clipped her right hip. The dark keybearer winced as she, with a single beat from her wings, leaped backward onto the barrier to dodge the second thrust. Pressing her heels against the barrier, she had her blade meet the the last thrust.
When Genesis had jumped backward, 'Artemis' flew upward and watched the red-clad SOLDIER perform the final strike, a shock wave she had unintentionally avoided. The winged woman looked down at the auburn-haired man and winced not because the cut from her hip but rather the burn on her neck. Her right hand went up to touch it to determine the intensity of the burn itself but found something so familiar to her missing instead. Her ribbon choker with the simple moonstone crescent pendant was gone.
As the Genesis pulled his blade from the ground, the dark keybearer's eyes were searching the arena for the only physical reminder she had of her lost home world. The next verse the SOLDIER recited had her glance at him before she spotted the choker, a good part of the ribbon burned off, near the barrier where Genesis had gotten trapped. She landed in a crouch near the pendant and nimbly picked it up before safely putting it into her pocket. This vanity was something she did not want to lose.
The dark keybearer considered the verse for a few moments then shakes her head with a small wince from the burn on her neck. "Peh...What 'Goddess'?"muttered 'Artemis' under her breath as she had never payed attention to a world's religion during her travels nor did she believe in divine miracles. She glanced at the SOLDIER again then noted that he was holding onto his side.
The poison must be in effect... mused the winged woman as she stood up and tightened the keyblade in her hand. Smirking, 'Artemis' then pointed her keyblade, now seemingly on silver 'fire, at Genesis before diagonally slicing the air with one slash. A lone wolf of 'flame' leaped out of the keyblade toward Genesis with the intent of 'playing' with her opponent while she simply kept her distance and watch her technique, known as Wolf's Fang, have some fun with the SOLDIER.
