Was this really it?
It was unusual for Axel to be reverent about anything. He knew everything was transient and he treated it that way, so his respects to Xemnas were more satirical than grudging, his appraisal of Sora more practical than biased, and his friendships nothing to bow down to. But setting foot in Kingdom Hearts itself meant even Axel felt esteem seep into his stride, memories of awe tugging at his empty chest. This was it. The culmination of everything they’d worked towards, for years. Axel felt no pride or unity in that, only hope.
What Saïx wouldn’t give to stand where he was standing right now.
And what Axel wouldn’t to have Roxas and Xion standing beside him.
Even though, quite frankly, he was kind of underwhelmed here. Maybe he’d just expected—he didn’t know, more light? Since it was Kingdom Hearts, and the whole light thing was kind of important. Or maybe that it wasn’t heart-shaped, just kind of…a big door. What lay beyond it? Did he dare find out?
Light caught his eye when he started forward, and he looked down to see a little rainbow of embers disappear back into the sand. Another step sent them up again and they idled in the air for just a second like tiny stars. “Hm.” With the equivalent of a verbal shrug, Axel pressed on until he reached the solid white barring his way. Black-gloved fingertips prodded the wood like they were testing a knife’s edge, and once they’d rested there for longer than a second Axel snatched them back like they’d been burned.
Darkness lurked beyond that door.
Axel stood numbly in front of it, blinking only once to sever that jade stare. What the hell did that mean? He supposed it made sense. The Heartless were all about darkness, anyway, but it seemed like he wouldn’t get a sense of something so raw when it was supposed to contain a lot of light, too. The world couldn’t have that much darkness lingering in every heart, get outta here. Maybe if he poked around inside for a bit…
No sooner had Axel opened a dark portal directly onto the door’s face than a Shadow barreled out of it at him, and only quick reflexes saved him a claw to the face. A flash of heat and one of the Eternal Flames was heavy in his hand, vanquishing the Shadow in a quick throw and zipping back to smack against his palm. When he looked to the portal he had to hesitate, surprised that it was gone before he realized that the stupid Heartless must’ve startled him into closing it. It was just as well. There was so much darkness in there that he could be risking it even if he went in with the cloak.
Blood red brows drew together in a façade of confusion and alarm. Was this really it?
The silence that stretched a few seconds into an eternity was too loud, buzzing in his ears. Then his lips twitched, and suddenly his own bitter chuckle deafened him.
Man oh man. Saïx, we got conned.
Oh, and it’d been so simple! Promise the kiddies a heart, you big bad, and they’re yours to control. How could he have been so blind—so naïve, just when he thought that word didn’t describe him anymore—to the point that meeting Roxas and Xion meant feeling like things could change. Did the founders know, or was it just Xemnas? That this was never about hearts. This was never about the Organization. Only power, and the deep darkness that chilled Axel’s fist when he braced it against the door and tried to stem the incredulous guffaws. They might seem like sobs if he remembered what those were like, but he couldn’t figure out if he should be more devastated or tickled. All those years of careful submission, coordination, assignment after mission after goal…
Spent on nothing.
Axel sucked the last one back in a sharp noise like a snake hiss. Well, so what. He’d given up on ever possessing a heart once, he could do it again. And tricked as he was, running from the Organization had only worked out well for one person. But that didn’t keep the shadows of anger from licking hotly just behind his eyes. What he knew now could turn the Organization’s greatest supporter into its most embittered critic. He couldn’t think of the betrayal, that was too typical to bear analysis. Only how to use this new element.
He also couldn’t afford to stay distracted in such a dangerous place. A sound—real or imagined—from behind made him whirl, chakram at the ready.
Whatever darkness intended to take Kingdom Hearts for its own would have to contend with the smoldering rage of the Flurry of Dancing Flames.

The sound Axel had whirled around to was the intake of breath from somewhere in the darkness, like stage whispers around him from behind dark curtains, and soon enough a even darker chuckle escaped forth from a presence that was very much real.
"It is a unusual sensation to feel when hope dies... is it not? If the feeling is not wasted upon you."
From the darkness behind the Nobody, the strong male presence made himself visible as he strode out of the wavering darkness ebbing and flowing around him, as if he had stepped out of thin air. His aura thrummed with the very same burning darkness from beyond the door, the threat of his figure speaking for itself, and if one were to so much turn a cheek from him he would impale them with an abdomen full of broadsword. Deathly pale white hair and skin framed his hardened features, cold yellow eyes lifeless of any emotion. His maroon and black armor clanked quietly as he paced, his cloak and emperor robes leaving trails behind him in the sand with every footstep he took, which pulsed with violent dark energy along with the rest of the fulminating power from his aura. The power of darkness obviously laced and intersected his very being, but there was the overwhelming sensation of a deeper power flowing from his darkened core, one of which coming to the realization of it's source would be outraged and horrified.
The Heartless came to a halt as he looked confidently at the Nobody which embodied the element of fire, a amused, cold smirk creeping up his features as he ducked his head slightly to look at him from underneath creased ivory eyebrows, his amber eyes flickering to the side as if looking behind him as he sensed the gathering of Light and Dark figures around them. He knew the time had finally come for his fruits of labor to bear their fruition, after waiting so long here in the Endless Abyss at the End of the World, the stairway between the realms of light and dark where the Door to Darkness lay in waiting. All this time he had played the game of patience awaiting for the denizens of the Realm of Light and it's darker denizens to approach this threshold, slowly building power as he bid his time, waiting as heart after heart was returned back to the greatest heart of them all. Now that it's potential power had come to full peak, and the heroes of Light gathered and swarmed in the reaction to it's wane of power, finally it was time to act. All these years of plotting and scheming, carefully putting the pieces and pawns into play, killing to prevent from being killed to survive until his adversaries finally played their move into his favor.
"At last, you have all come to witness the end... of the beginning. I was starting to wonder if any of you were capable of even lasting to make it this far."
Stroud stretched out his arms wide to either side of him, to encompass all the beings that had been drawn to this final battlefield of war, as if addressing them to take a strike to his chest while he remained seemingly unarmed. He stole a glance at the Flurry of Dancing Flames, and laughed mockingly at his reaction of whirling around and summoning one of his charkrams, as if it were just a mere child threatening him with a frisbee. "Shall I lay down my arms so you can strike me down? Should I bow my head in defeat to you, so you may deliver the final blow?" he taunted, and guffawed coldly once more. The laugh went on for a moment longer, piercing the darkness before it was immediately cut short, a sharp gaze crossing his expression as he narrowed his eyes. This was not a game, and anyone who knew better knew that if they attempted to attack him in that moment, they would severely regret such an action.
No more games. The amusement had come to it's end.
And yet, Stroud was not angry or even irritated, only changing the mood to illustrate the seriousness of his point he was not to be taken lightly. His arms still outstretched, and coming out of the bow he had so mockingly carried out to prove he did not show any signs of submission or even concern at all, he righted his chest comfortably again as he turned towards the Door to Darkness. "Shall I humor you with a villain's monologue to reveal all my plans so you can attempt something weak and foolish to stop me, even while you think I am distracted with the grandness of my superior plan and intellect? Perhaps you should at least learn what it is that has already become your ultimate demise, should you come sooner to the realization of your own folly that all hope and determination you have to save what you value the most will ultimately be crushed and faded. Before you lies the portal that lies between the Realm of your precious Light, and my Realm of the Darkness; the Door to Darkness. Beyond it lies my vast armies of the most powerful of Heartless, but beyond that lies something even greater still; the proof of life that the hearts of all worlds exists, the very heart of hearts. Kingdom Hearts!" he emphasized the name in utter reverence, glancing at the ivory of the door in visions of grandeur potent in his inhuman eyes. He let those words linger in the ears and minds around him for a moment longer, the tool in which he'd use to bring about his reality the Heartless yearned for in so long, before he continued. He lowered his arms, still keeping very much aware of what each figure was doing within the darkness encompassing them, watching them all and looking to each one as he made his oratory.
"Alas, only pure darkness can pass underneath the door, and as our predecessor Xehanort learned that Kingdom Hearts is made of pure light. Something that we Heartless are not completely either of, but where our forefather failed, I have learned from his foolish mistake and have already succeeded where all others have failed. You vermin, running around, playing your little games of keyblades and magic with the light and dark. You think you can change the world with your simplistic actions and states of mind, but light and darkness are like yourselves. Mere tools. Even nothingness is just an element to be wielded. There is no good, no evil, no value to life nor to death. There is only one true aspect that there is no comparison, no equal, that you maggots have failed to feel the true cusp of. And that is... power."
At this, the Horseman raised a single gauntlet armoring his hand into the air above him, containing an orb of the most ebon of darkness, that sweltered in the very darkness around it from Stroud's aura like sweltering humidity warping hot desert air. The energy snapped and cracked within his palm, before it shot upwards in a flare to the black abyss above them, that mirrored the one below the sandy platform of the grand doorway. Through the choking haze of the terrible and deep unknown, it parted to reveal a giant heart-shaped moon, eerily familiar in lunar color to the one that hung above the sky above The Castle That Never Was. The very void around them trembled and buckled as it descended down from above, the doorway shaking and slightly crumbling from it's time-forgotten structure, sand from it's pedestal exploding upwards in a violent sandstorm. As the veil of dust lifted, Stroud once again laughed coldly in utter confidence and superiority, the pale moon coming to a stop above them as it seemed to scream and glow with the souls of a billion voices.
Across the many worlds in the sea of stars, even in pure daylight, the large moon of the world became shaped like the heart that was symbolic in representation of the great heart being accessed once more.
His laughter died down as gravity defied the moon from crashing and smothering them within the darkness, and Stroud lowered his armored hand as it curled into a fist beside him, magnanimous at the moon he had just summoned to bask within it's empowered radiance. "Behold, for I have already in my possession the other Kingdom Hearts! Unlike the one that lies within my reach beyond that door, this proof of hearts is the heart of all of people's hearts. With it, I have complete and utter domination over all hearts... yours, included. As well as it's power to become something more than just a humanoid Heartless.. something even more than human, someone who is worthy enough to both embody both the light and the darkness. Every door has it's key, and with my Kingdom Hearts I will possess the power to open this door, and join both Kingdom Hearts together to become the very heart of this world of the Heartless. We are the future, the children of the darkness that was spawned from the envy of possessing the ancient light, and in the new universe I will create it will be the onlyworld in which all hearts will return to the greatest heart of them all. And I will become a king of godsmore so than I already am now, ruling over that lone world in all of the realms melded together and the barriers between broken, eclipsed in the darkness that will completely flood but all of the most contained of the brightest light in the heart of our world. It is foolish to think light will be snuffed out, as where there is darkness there will always be light created to even out the balance... so all light will be enslaved. All of you, the stupidity of it all, running around in your endless cycles of good and evil, peace and havoc, when it will all eventually be reset. Such was the nature of this existence. Well, I have already broken that cycle, and what is already happening is... irreversible."
Finally, finishing his explanation in why all faith to stop him had been lost, a crooked grin cracked from his dry lips as he summoned the Piercer into his hand, the grand war-sword that was his trademark weapon. He would not dare to explain what the rest of his intentions were, having plan after plan in the events there was something unexpected, not gambling on the one thing he was still certain had already given him certain victory. Only so much in that to give the newcomers indefinite despair that their time spent in this existence was not only frivolous, but soon to expire. He reveled in that feeling, in seeing all hope die, the helplessness and vulnerability in their eyes. What he wanted more was the satisfaction of the moment the energy of their life was expended, and he would rip the orb of light that was their hearts out of their chest, and steal it to return it to depths unknown. He was a Heartless after all, and this reminded him of his last statement, which of likely would go down into history of the new universal order he was about to create for their superior race.
"But do not fret, for your presence here today is not all for naught, as you witness the annihilation of the worlds you knew and the forming of the new End of the World. You may think it unfair that you have been beaten, harrowing that the next man will murder another to save his own life in order to survive, sorrowful that the partner who's heart was once yours leaves you and the connection is abruptly severed, never to feel that happiness again...but such is the cold reality in which is and will always be. Such is the true selfishness and greed of humankind. You delude yourselves, thinking everything will be alright, but the cruel fact is you will never get what your hearts truly desire. Only suffering and pain is all you know until your life ends... but take heart that your one usefulness here, will be that your hearts will join once more with each other within the greater heart of our new world! There is nothing you can do. Shells will fade away within the deepest abyss. All light will return to your hearts... and all hearts will return to the great darkness!!"
And with that, thrusting his sword forward, Stroud initiated the attack of the darkness as he conjured a powerful dark spell. Negative energy lanced and collaborated on the tip of his sword before it within mere seconds it burst and exploded forward, bombarding each Warrior of Light that would appear including Axel with powerful bursts of the almighty Ultima Black Magic spell. Then not having any mercy to let the Nobody near him any chance to quickly retaliate, he enchanted Spellsword into the Piercer, stabbing forward with an impale of Ultima Sword in his upper-right torso to also leave behind a devastating explosion of violet and charcoal-colored non-elemental damage. Having given them but a mere taste of his destructive power, his malicious grin remained etched into his face, as he declared execution for the Warriors of Light with the command and fearlessness of his hardened military general orgins. "Ferser, champions of the Darkness... seize their hearts. Chaos beckons. Slaughter them." he instructed, with all the ruthlessness and emotionless qualities one would muster when committing nothing short of genocide.
"Worms of the Light, I am Stroud, the Horseman known as the Destroyer of worlds... know thy name as the herald of your extinction."

Destiny is but another term to be defined by the individual who questions his own. To some, destiny is a mere word, which has no true meaning in all the worlds. To others, destiny is a guideline that should be followed in order to achieve what is expected of you. To the rest, destiny is a calling, a force that cannot be controlled or avoided. This battle, no matter what the outlook, was that same unavoidable being. Kingdom Hearts must be protected at all costs.
The low hum of a bronze figure radiated in the space between worlds. Well, it used to be that same empty space. Now, Terra found himself in a world of pitch black, chills rolling down his spine from the sheer magnitude of darkness in the area. It was a force that he had not felt since that fateful date atop the Keyblade Graveyard. It was a force that would be stopped on this day, no matter what sacrifices must be made.
Terra did not know his own destiny, but he did know a great chapter would unfold on this day. Ever since he had heard of the Human Heartless from the mouths of ‘Artemis’ and Riku, the keybearer had been on a hunt for the manipulators of Heartless. He had a name to go by, Stroud, but nothing else. He had no face to remember and no voice to memorize. He had only a name. That name somehow lead him to the endless abyss of darkness that he found himself flying through.
The echoes of a malicious force rang through his ears as he heard, unbeknownst to him, the very target he had set in his sights. Terra’s Keyblade Ride immediately dispersed upon hearing the voice of utter darkness ring through both his ears and his heart. The shallow puddles of Darkness in his heart cheered in agreement with the Heartless, no, god of darkness itself. The deep pools of Light that inhabited the remainder of the ocean that was his heart immediately prepared itself for the war that was mere moments from bursting into existence. The war that had been raging was merely a prelude to the nightmares that would be faced, the nightmares that would be fought, the nightmares that would be conquered! It didn’t take another moment for the Apprentice to discover the identity of the darkness that echoed even though it could not be seen.
”That is the darkness I am fighting…[/b]
His pace started as a brisk walk, but as the face of fear itself began to speak of the chasms of his power, Terra’s pace began to increase. It almost sounded as if he was speaking directly into his heart. Was he challenging Eraqus’s pupil? In a full-on sprint, Terra bounded in the direction his heart lead him, unsure if he’d ever reach the center of the endless abyss of darkness. When the massive figure of a heart-shaped moon let its light shine upon him, Terra’s heart and body came to an abrupt halt.
Staring out into the depths around him, Terra could see only two figures, a red-haired man in a black cloak and the center of the darkness. One other figure emerged in on the tiny plain of ivory, a gigantic door with an even bigger ominous feeling. Terra didn’t immediately piece together the clues that lead to the discovery of their location, but it did not take long either. Once he saw the symbols upon the door and the heart in the sky, one and one became two and Terra knew that the door ahead of him lead to Kingdom Hearts.
Within a few seconds, a powerful blast of utter malice came hurling his way. Terra couldn’t simply dash his way to avoid this, he needed some aid. In his usual fashion, the Ends of the Earth came to said aid. He vaulted to the side, using his keyblade as a pole vault. After barely missing the Ultima blast, Terra finally found himself within speaking range of the Heartless Horseman. The battle would begin momentarily, after Terra’s short message.
”The hearts of others are not for you to control. It is my light, not my darkness, that shines brightest even in the depths of sorrow. One must keep his head held high when all else fails. Stroud, your darkness will not extend any further today, and I will give you two reasons why…”[/b]
Terra paced himself forward as he acknowledged the Heartless, allowing his armor to finally shine as a beacon of hope to those who have none. He finally understood why Eraqus and Aqua doubted his resolve. As he finished, he silently remembered their guidance, as friends and mentors, that his disregard for lead him to this very battle. Master Eraqus knew that one day Terra would need to overcome his own darkness to save the lives of those who could not. Everyone, whether they carried the light or harnessed the darkness, had a right to be saved, and there were very few capable of such heroics.
Without a second thought, Terra ignited his entire body in an aura of pure electricity. The cackle of voltage filled the gaps. The power of lightning forced itself into every bone and muscle in his entire body, reinforcing it with his pure energy. He felt his body accept the power as if they were old friends. Today was his best day, and he could feel his body, mind, and heart cheering him on, insisting that he defeat the being before him.
”…Even if you defeat me, someone else will rise. The light is a very powerful force, and the need to protect feeds that power. The more you grasp the darkness and inject it into the light, the more the people themselves will rise to stop you. We will fight to protect those who cannot protect themselves, and others will join our cause…”[/b]
Instantly, Terra leaped forward to begin his attack on the Heartless commander. When in range, he started with a full three hundred and sixty degree spinning slash, injected with the speed and power added with his Command Style. He continued the technique with two crossing diagonal slashes, forming a perfect ‘X’. He finished the combination with a shotgun-like blast of electricity that both sent him back into the air and sent close to a dozen quick strikes of lightning crashing towards his enemy. He landed and immediately dashed behind the villain. Holding his keyblade high, a cloud of electricity escaped the very tip of his blade, ripping through the air surrounding him. The blast extended a full twenty feet in every direction and capped off his powerful Thunderbolt technique.
Reason number two why you won’t leave here! My heart refuses to allow you to beat me! The beginning of the end for you has begun!”[/b]

((OOC: *Stares at Vince's gigantic post* Y'know... sometimes less is more <3 *Chuckles and flees to post* On another note, I have only ever completed Kingdom Hearts 2 the once and it was a LOOOOONNNNNGGGGG time ago, so I have absolutely no idea what this place looks like anymore! <3)) The heart shaped moon was truly an amazing spectral to behold. Well, why wouldn't it be? It was a moon shaped like a heart! If one brightly dressed Jester had been more imaginative, maybe he too would have turned the moon back on the World of Ruin into a heart.... or maybe a skull which would have worked better in reminding the pathetic and worthless souls that inhabited HIS planet were all doomed to meet a slow and painful death eventually. That's right. World of Ruin was ruled by one man and that one man, though hopelessly insane, was actually a God. Not pretending to be a God or dreaming about becoming one. He actually did turn into a God and gained immense godly powers. Truth be told, he still WAS a God and the amusing thought of turning a certain heart shaped moon into a skull shaped one, was growing ever increasingly tempting. Though sadly, such games had to wait after being rudely interrupted from his day dreams.
The large doors which were closed tight earlier on a short distance behind him, slowly creaked open, causing the Jester to raise an eyebrow and peer over his shoulder. Watching with interest as a great power reached his senses, a large purple smirk spread across his lips when his bright blue eyes laid sight upon two figures on the other side of the door. One of them was clad in a long black coat with bright red hair and what felt like a flaming personality. The second was slightly more interesting and by 'interesting', to the Jester he meant completely and totally boring. All life was meaningless and that including the Nobody and his Heartless friend, not that Kefka knew what a Nobody nor Heartless were. He was just a simple Jester wanting to destroy everything, including existence itself. Perhaps blowing up this heart shaped moon would set him on the right path? And to make matters worse, he had to stand here and listen to the man wearing the funny headgear and long pale hair, drone on for what felt like hours about some dribble regarding power and something called Kingdom Hearts.
"BOR-RING!!!" Kefka shouted out as he stuck both his index fingers into his ears and wiggled them about a bit to try and block out the annoying, vocal sounds. There was only one sound the Jester enjoyed that involved other peoples voices and that was listening to them scream in agony while dying a slow, slow death. That was music! The best written symphony to ever exist. "You know, for someone who had never been introduced to a brush before... or know when is a good time to trim their stomach hair..." Kefka said, pointing to the fur hanging from Stroud's armour. "... You don't half go on. Why not skip the speech, draw you sword and make some people die?" The brightly coloured Jester's voice clearly carried the tone that belonged to the criminally insane, but you could have guessed that from his appearance alone. Turning around to face the two figures standing a short distance away, Kefka sat down cross legged and then slowly floated up into the air slightly so he was back at standing height.
That was when his eyes met the figure of a new arrival. Some tall chap dressed in a suit of rusty looking armour, brandishing a large Key when attacked by the Never-Used-A-Brush guy. Kefka groaned and returned one of his index fingers back into his ear, where he probed about for a moment until retracting his finger, examining the goo upon his fingernail. Flicking the ear-mess aside, the Jester groaned again, though more frustratedly when the rusty armoured man started to go on and on. "I thought this was supposed to be a battle, not auditions for a play?" However, the Psycho Clown's mood changed to one for the better when he watched Terra jump in for an attack, revealing a rather weak 'shocking' light display. Clapping with delight, Kefka returned his pointy boots back to solid ground and hopped away off towards the edge of the platform he was standing on, placing his hands on the balcony and peering off over the edge as if in that same instant he had totally lost interest in what was going on. Or perhaps he was waiting for something? Who knew? Either way, he hadn't attacked anyone yet, but the Jester knew that it wasn't going to be the four of them here. That heart shaped moon seemed pretty important for reasons unknown, so Kefka decided to keep a mental guard up just in case someone tried to introduce a sword to the back of his skull. Or a mace... or a spell... maybe a chocobo.

She did not know what had drawn her soul to his place. Perhaps it was the feeling of unspeakable horror gnawing on her bones. Perhaps it was the twittering gossip that seemed to quake out of everyone's lips. Perhaps it was because she had followed that Felix chap because he had seemed like an interesting guy and it had been a tremendously slow day. Regardless, her means for being here dissipated into a sea of irrelevance as soon as that freaky guy in black opened his mouth.
A sense of red evil splashed across her soul and a tumultuous feeling of dread washed over her. His words tasted like salt in her mouth, and no matter what way she licked her tongue her mouth still felt parched from such spiteful use of language. What hate glowered in that voice! What insanity jaded his eyes as he spoke of his 'master' plan, one which she could not possibly hope to understand. He spoke of hearts and light and darkness as though somehow each thing was real and physical. Well, okay, hearts were real, but they weren't exactly something you could just hold in the palm of your hand and create a kingdom out of. Damned symbolism or metaphors or whatever it was meant to mean.
So, this was the heart of all hearts? She assumed that had something to do with the centre of the universe - and that purging the universe of it would be very, very bad indeed. Yet had she not had this fight before? Out on a plane of crystals that sparked deep within her soul and wound in her memory, she had faced Kuja at the centre of all thought. She had witnessed his hand being turned against what was almost the destruction of all time, thought, memory and being until they had given their bodies to defeat him. Even when they had given their all, he had gouged their flesh and sent their souls to another world foreign to their own. She could remember nothing of Necron but unspeakable fear and screaming and moaning as the souls of the dead and the damned cried out to them for healing hands. Was Kuja screaming then? Was that him calling out to them, hoping and praying and thinking that they would feel the same terrible fear that he had? She had never got the chance to ask him.
No... This was the heart of hearts, the kingdom of her heart. The man before her was but a sliver of Kuja's shadow in her soul. She had faced the fear of death itself. She would not be afraid to fight again.
Then... Ultima... Her body was falling through the air, little eyes scrunched up as sheathing pain past through her. Oh god, oh god, oh god this was worse than all the flames from the Soul Cage, this was worse than the poison from the Melti-Gemini, worse than Kuja's holy-flare. Her entire body felt wrecked and cleansed from the inside out... Her gut swelled with unearthly fire, their was lighting in her lungs and ice seemed to numb her brain and dull her eyes.
No!
She rose awkwardly to her feet, which slid underneath her tiny body.
No! She would not fall! She had to show them, show Zidane, Garnet, Vivi, Steiner, Freya, Amarant, Quina, mother and father that she could do it! She had to fight for them! Their adventure had not been for nothing, and she was not alone.
Shaking, she pushed herself up on her hands; the holy fire in her gut being turned to determination, the lightning in her lungs turned to be used as her own power, the numbness in her brain fading to reveal nothing but a sheer and utter drive to survive.
Her hands were shaking, but she was full of new found spirit. She would live. The wounds that Ultima had peppered on her skin could be cured with time, but now was not the time to meld her own flesh back together. She had to fight, she had to summon. Her eyes shut tight together and she weakly brought her flute to her lips. A melody played from the deepest pools of her soul across the planes of darkness.
Holy tempest spirit, aid me!
White hot light swirled and dispelled the darkness, and from its hand came the shadow of a cat. She was her courage. She was her childhood. She was her very being.
Mog.
"Madeen,"[/b] she whispered, brushing her delicate fingers through the lion's fur. She was a beast, one that would have been run out and torn limb from limb should she be seen venturing alone. She had powerful, leathery wings that seemed symbolic of bats in caves and dragons who would suck blood. She had teeth and fangs and claws perfect for ripping apart human children and swallowing up their souls. Yet she was beautiful, and once she had been the smallest little moggle you had ever seen. Once she had been her only friend out in the desert, and now she was the only one left to protect her.
Eiko was about to raise a hand and send her summon towards the Heartless Horseman, but then she saw another figure rushing towards him, spouting lines about 'light' and 'darkness' again. She had learned that there was no black and white. There was no pure light and pure dark - even men who slaughtered countless cities could repent and redeem. It was stupid to confine yourself to one side, she had concluded. Though she would much rather fight on the side of justice, there were times when she would have been black listed as evil and hung for her petty crimes. Stupid dwarves with their silly accents.
Had Hilgigars been evil? No. He was just mindless, a big simple giant who liked crushing villages for fun - but he had no doubt done it out of a need to survive and eat. He knew no better than what nature had taught him, and she could forgive him.
Had Garland been evil? No. He had tried to save his own world, warped by the madness in his eyes. Indeed, she owed her existence to him, as all life on Gaia had done. Was he wrong to create a means to survive? Perhaps. She could forgive him.
Had Kuja been evil? No. Well, at least, Zidane would maybe say so. She would rather scream and shout and kick his butt so far into space that his head would pop! and he'd never be seen again, but she digressed. He was not evil. He had been built to kill. He knew no better than the Zuus who swallowed people whole, he knew no better than the mindless black mages who swarmed on the cities, he knew no better than Hilgigars in his childish nature. Zidane was meant to kill, but he had never known. He had saved Zidane. And in time, Zidane had went back that tree and saved him - something she had tried in vain to understand. She could never forgive him.
So perhaps this horseman was not evil. Perhaps in some twisted way the causes of his fate and the dice of his life had been rolled in such away that his soul had been twisted to spout the evils that he thought were right. The other man who stood on the side of 'good' was inspirational, certainly, but she was not sure if he was right. She had witnessed 'evil' win, only for some miracle to save them all. She had realized that good would not always conquer evil, as good was evil and evil was good depending on the mind. Gosh, she hated the grey.
That did not mean that she would stand by and watch everything fall apart. Evil may not have been evil, and maybe she was not good, but she would sure as hell not let herself die now... Wait...
Was that a clown?
Narrowing her eyes, her lip twitched in spite. Okay, forget anything she had just thought. She hated clowns. Zorn and Thorn had been evil little bastards and deserved to be stamped out like the little roaches they were. And there was another big baddie jester that seemed to be cheering on the other guy that really looked like he wanted a stomping.
"Hey! Big boots! Yeah, you, you ugly looking, clown-faced freak!"[/b] she shouted over towards Kefka, "You look like Feste from Lord Avon's Twelve Knights, and I hated that play."[/b] Coiling her little lips into a smirk, she pointed Madeen towards the dumb-looking clown, who responded by unleashing a barrage of holy light that twisted and turned and burned down upon the jester - Terra Homing.

(Apologies for not replying yesterday, guys! Thursdays are just my busy days. And sorry this is such a bad post as well!)
Ferser was starting to lose interest in whatever Stroud was droning on about. Yeah, yeah, he got all of that stuff. Kingdom Hearts, ultimate goal, Darkness, Heartless. Blah blah! Ferser knew that he probably should be a little more interested in whatever Stroud was babbling about, but he just couldn't express any interest in whatever Stroud was saying. Mainly because he was just way too focused on getting ready to attack these so called "warriors of light". Ferser absolutely hated heroes. They thought that they were SO strong, an had to 'protect all of the worlds and the innocent', as well as a whole bunch of other boring stuff. Heroes just seemed so stereotypical and boring to the killing-obsessed Heartless. Why even bother with something as lame and dull as that? Being the bad guy was so much more fun! Though Ferser certainly would admit, torturing them was a hell of a lot more fun. They always liked to put up a fight and try to be strong...it always gave the Heartless a good chuckle.
Ferser was eager to start. He had his sword in hand, eager to have the shiny blade become stained with beautiful crimson red blood. There were few things more beautiful than that in the eyes of the insane Heartless. He absolutely loved to give his blade the blood that both it and he craved. And hell, he even liked it when some of his own blood would come out, escaping his body. Pain just felt, well to put it in simple terms, it felt INCREDIBLE. Part of Ferser did wonder if when he were to die, if he would die with a smile. Not in the sense that most people wished to die with a smile, but because he wondered if he would just...love the pain from that so much, that it would cause him to smile. Eh, something to think about.
When Kefka pretty much insulted the long speech that Stroud made, Ferser let out a small snicker. He totally agreed. "Sorry Stroud, but clown boy has a point. Why bother with all of that speech crap when we can just start kicking their asses?" Ferser asked, wearing a sick grin on his face as he looked over to the heroes. Right after Stroud's long speech, some stereotypical 'hero' came and started to make a speech that was pretty much just as boring as Stroud's. No wait, it was more boring because he was a hero. Light, goodness, protecting, blah blah blah. They were all so unoriginal, it really just made Ferser want to fall asleep. Why was everyone SO interested in talking today? Why the hell didn't they just start attacking and putting up a fight! Words were stupid and didn't prove anything, but taking out swords/weapons in general and beginning a fight; now THAT showed some real moves. Actions were much better than words, everyone knew that.
The Torturer watched as Kefka sort of went to do his own thing. Ferser figured he'd deal with Mr. Keyblader. Though said keyblader seemed to have plans to go for Stroud. Probably a bad idea. Ferser knew just how strong his companion was, but he assumed that this kid didn't have the slightest idea. Eh, Ferser might as well help his fellow Horseman out. He seriously believed that he was the strongest of them, so he'd save them, which the other probably would need! After the kid did some weird light attack thing (which Ferser managed to avoid), Ferser took this opportunity to give the other an attack. He drew one of his kunais, the ones injected with poison, aiming it at Terra.
"Hey kid, how about you come and play with me instead? Let's see if you can make me feel ANY pain! I'll give you a real fight, if that's what your looking for!" Ferser let out a dark laugh at this. Yep, stereotypically evil...

...To think that for over a long, grueling decade, she had been so close to Kingdom Hearts and never even knew. To think that on the other side of that door was the realm that haunted her every time she saw a Pureblood Heartless and whenever she slept. To think that there was the possibility that she could end up there again, that any of the heroes defending the worlds could be condemned to that realm if anyone were to have to go beyond the door...
It was horrifying, to say the least.
Horror, paranoia, fear... those emotions never stopped her. They hadn't stopped her in the Keyblade Graveyard, the destroyed Land of Departure, during that fateful battle in Radiant Garden and certainly not the Realm of Darkness.
So Aqua trudged on through the oh-so-familiar pitch blackness, her armor clinking and clanking with every step she took. Her helmet was off- not really the best idea, but the black visor wasn't exactly useful when it came to seeing in the darkness, and her eyes were accustomed to this sight anyway... Although she had to admit, solid darkness was slightly eerier in the sense that there wasn't even solid ground to walk on, or a sky- just pure darkness, all around.
Spare for the door.
The silvery door and the off-white sand it sat on were a stark contrast to the surrounding darkness, and Aqua stared at the far off speck of a door that was Kingdom Hearts in awe, just as she had at the large heart-shaped moon in the Keyblade Graveyard all those years ago. Her acute senses could sense extreme power just from this one door; unfortunately, she could also sense great beings of darkness standing before it. Aqua's pace became a little quicker as she began to rush to see the monster that was cruel enough to destroy all worlds, but she stopped dead in her tracks as a tremor rippled through the abyss. She summoned Stormfall to her side, a bright glow and falling pink petals accompanying it as usual. The quake worsened and she clenched her hand on her keyblade, readying herself for an attack- but that attack never came. Instead, a large, golden, heart-shaped moon was summoned above the door, which was now askew due to the shock waves.
This was the Kingdom Hearts she recognized from that fateful battle so long ago.
After the earthquake had stopped, Aqua started forwards once again, holding her keyblade at the ready. Her cerulean eyes that were tuned to seeing in the dark could now kiss the outlines of figures on the soon-to-be battlefield. There was the leader of the Heartless Horsemen, his subordinate, a red haired man in a black coat, a young girl, a... clown, and finally her eyes came to rest on her best friend, and she would've smiled if the weight of the worlds was not on hers and her allies' shoulders. History would be made as heroes and villains alike answered the call to fight, and Aqua wondered if this battle would be of the magnitude of the Keyblade Wars. Recalling the teeth of rusted keyblades buried into the ground as a last testament of their owners, their lives, and the merciless battle they fought, she really hoped this fight would not have the same outcome. If it did though...
...she had no regrets. She was trying to save the worlds, and she would try at whatever cost.
Aqua's reverie was broken when she arrived in time to hear the very end of Stroud's twisted speech, and her blue eyes narrowed into a fierce glare, her hand clutching onto Stormfall tightly. She had only just begun to think of what a monster he was when Ultima rained from the pitch black sky. Immediately Aqua began cartwheeling to dodge, adrenaline already rushing through her veins. There was no way she would allow herself to get pounded this early on in the battle.
After what was the equivalent of half of a gymnastics routine, Aqua avoided the malicious dark magic just in time to catch Terra's speech. A "shut up" to Stroud probably would have sufficed, but she was not about to complain on the basis that Terra's words meant that he finally, after all these years, understood. She too had come to an understanding as well, just like Master Eraqus had- that Darkness did not necessarily coincide with evil, that it could be used to protect as well as harm. The Horsemen, however, did not exemplify this in the slightest, but the lesson she had learned still held true.
It was around this time that the other human Heartless decided it would be a good idea to double team with his partner on Terra. Unfortunately, for the Horsemen, it was also around this time that Aqua had finally arrived in the midst of the battle. She did have something to say first, however. "You said that all we know is pain and suffering," she said, and as she said this, a pinkish aura began to envelop her, "that isn't true. Amidst any sorrow we may feel, we also feel hope. That's what sets the Light apart from the darkness. The hope that someone, someday, will defeat you, and end all suffering. It's why there's Light even within the deepest Darkness!"
Aqua then turned her attention to Ferser. "Last time I checked, two against one isn't exactly fair... Then again, I'd be wrong to expect fair fighting from a Heartless." She said disdainfully, and looked over at Terra. "We'll finish them together!"
No sooner had she said these words, Aqua launched herself at Ferser, slinging her keyblade at him for a three-hit combo, each time the blade returning to her hand like a boomerang, allowing her to stay a little ways away for ranged fighting. Stormfall left her hand to swing into him from either side as she floated a little off the ground, snapping back to her hand instantly because of the telekinetic powers that came with her Spell Weaver command style.
And so, for Aqua, the battle had finally begun. Spell Weaver: 1 turn remaining

[[OOC: Yeah, epic fail post. I'm sorry. @~@]]
This was no place for a Princess of Heart.
Oh, Kairi had been here before, or had been as close as she could. Her first adventure out into the sea of stars, and when the broken worlds had been reforming. Her best friend being shut behind that door, and her other best friend leaving her behind with the promise he would bring Riku back. What did it matter? What did any of this matter? Certainly not to the Princess, because her thoughts were merely blank and within the control of a certain crown. She had stood in the shadows, regarding everyone with a blank stare that could not even be seen. Cloaked within the black coat she had been given a long while ago, and her entire face hidden from anyone's view. Was that his plan? Kairi vaguely listened to what was going on, but it was all of a fog. There was a brown haired man, obviously angry with everyone that was fighting for Kingdom Hearts. Would he be her opponent? No, that did not seem right. None of this seemed right, because this was not the door that she remembered. A pained gasp escaped her lips, and the Princess wanted to clutch at her head, to try and tear at the cold metal that pressed against the her forehead. Unable to physically do so, and her heart and mind went blank once again. Trapped, trapped, trapped.
The Princess silently viewed her opponents, some striking familiarity within her hazed mind. The red haired man she most definitely knew, but the little girl did not. Oh, why was such a young girl here? Her heart clenched at the idea of having to fight her, but it was erased. Why was she here? Because Kefka had ordered it so, and that was what she would do. Free will gone, and so the Princess slowly stepped from her own hiding spot amongst the shadows. Her hood hid her gaze, but she could still see. Kairi stopped beside Kefka, gazing at the new arrival that had soon joined. The brown haired man's words fell upon deaf ears as she regarded the blue-haired woman with intensity. Oh, yes, Kairi knew her. From where? Why was she so familiar? Her head tilted, and the words around her merely whirred past her. She did not want to fight, but her body would not obey her heart. A gloved hand extended, and a flash of light emitted from her outstretched palm as Destiny's Embrace soon answered her call. A steadying weight within her hand, and she gripped her faithful keyblade tightly. The only thing that felt right to her, but her attention deviated to the young girl. Eyes widened as she sent her summoned creature toward Kefka. Or an attack that was enough to send the Princess dodge rolling in the opposite direction. She may take his orders, but her heart was strong enough to deny any attempt at helping him.
The Princess instead planned her target as the blue-haired woman. She had soon launched into a long range combo at the Heartless Horseman. A pull tugged her forward, and soon Kairi was running toward the battle. Her keyblade was raised, but she assessed the woman as she seemed to be able to launch her keyblade, but soon call it back to her hand. For now, Kairi opted to raise her keyblade in a downward, diagonal slash, and an arc of light soon sliced through the air and toward her new opponent. Would it catch her off guard? Perhaps, since she had focused her attention upon the Heartless, and the Princess soon closed the distance in her own attempt to back her light attack. Long range at the moment could be countered with close range. Kairi soon appeared not too far from the female, aiming a two-hit combo at her torso. Blank oceanic eyes flickered briefly from beneath her hood, but soon the Princess was using her momentum to slide behind her as she raised her keyblade in a defensive position. Would her attack have caught her off guard? Pain emanated between her temples, and Kairi had to stop herself from reaching for her head. It hurt, hurt, hurt. She looked to the familiar woman, a name flickering briefly through her hazed mind. Would it help? Or would it only make things worse?
"A..qua."
Light Arc: One post cooldown.

So what was it that drew the freelancer to Kingdom Hearts that day? Was it the thought of being a hero that would save the universe? Was it the fame that would accompany such an accomplishment had he been successful in defeating the threat that the Darkness posed? Was it the chance to show that he was a defender of justice that would never back down to any evil? No it wasn't that noble of a cause, in fact he was only there because he wanted to put his life on the line once more in a grave situation. Ever since his training with his father had ended, having learned near everything he could from him and now developing his own style, he had experienced many moments where his life hung by a thread; a fragile thread that could be torn with the slightest mistake or hasty decision. It was invigorating to live on the edge, always pushing past the preconceived limits of an ordinary human, proving time and time again that his tenacity for life could get him past any trials. He had fought Heartless, Nobodies, silver-haired monsters and many other demons that were easily thought impossible to defeat as an ordinary human but he felled them one after another, his grip on the mortal coil always slippery at best. Yet it excited him beyond any measure, ecstasy being the product of his dangerous habits and something he would never stop, especially while it paid the bills.
So there he stood along with the other warriors of the Light that day, a spiky red-haired man that he mentally accused of copying his hair color, a blue-haired bombshell of a keyblader (of which he would certainly see to after all was said and done), another spiky-haired keyblader who's hair had to require at least a gallon of hair gel to maintain from day to day, and finally a small girl that he was rather curious as to why she was here. Yet he dismissed that thought as soon as it came, figuring that if she had actually came her of her own free will than she was certainly capable of handling herself. Indeed, his focus was elsewhere as he closed his eyes slowly and breathed out deeply. His eyes opened once more, a calm, almost bored look residing in them now as he recollected on all the battles that brought him to this day, none of them being this important... nor life-threatening.
'And yet I'm here enjoying every second of this mess... I gotta have a mental disorder or something,' he commented mentally as he patted down his new outfit for the occasion of any wrinkles or dust. Instead of wearing his standard outfit of a collared white shirt with a blue undershirt and gray kakies, a perfect fitting black muscle shirt clothed the upper half of his body with a white undershirt and a pair of black jeans, an outfit he wore more often when he wasn't on business.
'I really wish I was getting paid for this though,' was added to his thought train as he finished fixing his attire. His right hand soon went to the hilt of his blade, knowing that it'd probably be best to draw his blade now than later. After all, this was going to be the fight of the century and it was sure to bring along big players that he'd need to hit as hard and as fast as possible. Slowly he unsheathed his blade, letting it rest along his shoulders as he began to hear a speech coming from what would be the “Boss” if this were a JRPG, this impression only further enhanced with how verbose the enemy was.
“You know you really could have summed up that whole speech you had with 'You guys suck, I'm all powerful and awesome, you're all dead now, thanks for coming' and saved us a lot of time!” the freelancer responded brazenly toward the soon to be beaten enemy, his banter only stopping because he noticed Stroud's sword pointed in his general direction which easily meant nothing good. Suddenly, bursts of rather frightening energy came flying toward the warriors Without a second thought, the freelancer threw his blade at the ball of energy coming toward him, jumping back as he did so to avoid any shock wave that may be produced from making contact with his blade. Despite having made a considerable amount of distance from the spell, he was still blown back further not able to maintain his balance and tumbling backward. A small grunt escaped his lips, incurring a bit of damage as he bit his thumb, watching Stroud attack the other red-head amongst the group.
'Well that's just rude I was going to tear him apart for that little display and he attacks someone else!...' he began to think as his right arm shook, clenching his fist tightly as he grinned widely, 'Hopefully they can all make me shake with this much excitement.'
With that first attack out of the way his eyes soon began to wander, taking into account who was fighting who at this point. The keyblader who had never gone to a hairdresser in his life soon attacked, Terra was his name from what he could recollect. He had charged toward Stroud, giving off a quaint little display of attack that seemed far more showy to the freelancer than effective. In fact, he wagered his own electric attack that he had developed quite recently would prove to be a far more damaging ability.
'I'll show that kid how it's done later,' he noted as his eyes moved over to the small girl not too far him, noticing that she had taken the brunt of the Ultima attack from earlier. He would have offered his hand to help her up but he could tell from that look in her eyes she was far from finished. As she had prepared her own attack, his eyes traveled again over to the only fully-grown woman among the group, heaving heavily since he couldn't flirt with her just yet, especially when she was in the middle of helping her rather preachy comrade, also throwing her own philosophy as to why Light would always win over the Darkness.
'Either they're both very optimistic or read too much manga, either way I hope they get their act together and don't start getting all sentimental during this fight... I want to enjoy this after all,' he thought again as his eyes then traced their way to the woman that was assisting the Darkness... and man was she smoking. Another heave escaped from his lips, now having to control his libido not around just one senorita but two.
'Why can't I meet these kind of hotties at the beach or something when I can actually get the chance to hit on them? Or take them out to dinner and romance them a little?' he pondered for a brief moment, readying himself to fight the girl that had appeared but soon noticing she was going after the other female keyblader and was actually one herself. That detail wasn't that important to him though and what he was really concerned about was the “cat fight” that might break out between those two. His thoughts didn't fester too long for he was soon brought back to the attention of the summon the girl next to him had called forth, a powerful attack now soaring toward the jester on the side of evil. Ah yes the clown, he had forgotten about him for a moment with his thoughts having drifted toward the two woman on the battlefield but now his attention was back to the joker. He took a couple steps forward before turning his head to the girl, his hand motioning her to stop if she had planned on following up her attack.
“I take it you're not a fan of clowns from your earlier statement but I think you'd be better off being on the defensive for now. You took a lot of damage and while the adrenaline may be pumping now, when that wears off if you haven't properly recovered we could be in big trouble. Let me take care of him and just focus on recovering from that damage completely... please,” he finished, a flicker of a smile gracing his features... damn that weakness for shorties of his. Regardless, he soon stepped forward where his blade had intercepted the Ultima attack earlier. It laid on the ground, his right foot slipping under it as he kicked it up, his right hand soon catching the hilt as he stopped for but a moment to look at his blade.
'I'm just glad this sword is made of corundum... if it were made of something weaker it would have probably broke,' he commented mentally as he noticed the blade had escaped without a scratch. Regardless, the freelancer knew that at this point his self-introduction was needed and while perhaps a bit late, was better than never.
“I hate to break it to you guys but right now you're dealing with Felix Maximilian, #1 freelancer with a 100% success rate. Believe me when I say you won't be leaving this place with a pretty face before I'm done with all of ya!” he proclaimed as he finally begun his sprint toward his first target, Kefka. He wasn't sure how the clown fared from Eiko's earlier attack but regardless of his condition he would attack the joker, his right hand placing itself on top of his right shoulder as the blade pointed behind him and his left hand, clenching into a fist, resided by his right hip ready for action. And it would be put into action as for once the distance was closed, Felix would proceed with a three hit combo on the clown, his orthadox Thai stance falling into place naturally to provide him a good base. Regardless, the first blow would come from his right hand that wielded his blade, the katana aimed for a diagonal slash that would start at Kefka's left shoulder and go across his chest as the right hand was quickly brought back to Felix's left shoulder and remaining ready. It would then be followed up by that left fist he had balled up, going for a hammer fist attack on Kefka's left cheek to disorient him, not so much for damage. Whether it hit or not, much like his right hand it would not remain stationary and actually would be swung behind him almost as his body turned on the pivot of his left foot. His right leg now facing the clown, he would attempt a side-kick to finish the combo and nail a nasty blow to the clown's body, one that would easily make a person puke if hit squarely and that was certainly that combo's intended purpose,
'I hope he likes tasting his lunch coming back up more than going down.'

Axel probably should have expected this battle to go from zero to eighty just like that.
Of course, the guy in the center jawing off like a pro bought him some time, and Axel used that to pay attention to all the newcomers. (Seriously, he kind of wished Xemnas were here, maybe they could have a melodramatic speech-off.) Not that he wasn't completely aware of how dead serious this whole thing actually was. In fact, he was probably taking it more seriously than usual since it had him so damn ticked off. But he practically couldn't help tuning that guy out when so many variables were showing up on the field, and honestly Axel didn't think someone powerless would resort to that kind of relaxed talking in the middle of a battle. He'd rather take that one on with the light group sure to show or else once he'd gotten worn down, meaning Axel had to pick out his enemies from his allies.
Keyblade--bamn, there was an ally right there. Axel could recall fighting the clown guy before--or at least spotting someone like him on the islands, most likely an enemy--
Spotting the little one in the cloak made time stop.
Axel snapped back to attention almost too late to react, turning Eternal Flames heavenward to block off what he could of the attack. It was fierce, and he could only derail so much. From the sound of things, he wasn't the only one who got hit, either. One chakram cracked under the pressure, and though he knew it might not even slow the magic down he still wrenched himself out of there with a sped up swirl of darkness and flame. It wouldn't take him far, but far enough to get out from under that mess, at least. Once he had, the broken weapon's cracks glowed like lava streams and sealed over, since the Eternal Flames were just that anyway. The Flurry dancing through them was battered but not broken in turn.
Getting his bearings had to happen fast, so a quick look around while he stayed a moving target showed him that the battlefield had turned to turmoil. The first guy with the Keyblade had a friend, and from the sound of it the one about to get its teeth in his face was one of Stroud's Horseman pals. Axel remembered that one from Never Was. He could only see light where the jester had been and some other stranger running straight for it--probably allies, or at least he hoped so--but his mind was caught on the cloak he'd spotted. Had that been an figment of his--no, there she was--
Xion--!
But that was no Keyblade of Xion's, and when she moved in to attack the other Keybearer, somehow Axel knew. He almost didn't need to see the flash of dark red that made up the bunched strands of hair slipping free of that hood in the heat of battle. They were bathed in darkness again before he could be sure anyway.
It didn't even occur to him that it could be a mistake. Not when the other two Keybearers were both yelling their loyalties aloud. And from betraying friend and enemy, Axel'd had more than his due of both. But Xemnas didn't hold sway over Kairi like he did the Organization. Her heart gave her freedom from him, no matter what shadowy reconciliations tempted her. That was the only logic that reached Axel in the chaos, and maybe it wasn't just that. Maybe in turning his aggression on Kairi, the royal traitor, it was because in her he could see his own damning betrayals reflected back.
Alright, princess.
I got it.
I see how it is now. Finally.
But you didn't have to hit her--! the first chakram missed on purpose. Shaky resolve. He made it clench around the other one's handle when he blocked off that Keyblade that was not and would never be Xion's, because this was something Xion could never do. The other Keybearer was forgotten--everything on the battlefield was forgotten, from the catastrophically strong to the laughably weak and the Kingdom Hearts that was always a lie in between. The crunch of purple under Axel's boots cracked with red veins and fire sprang up in his eyes and all around him and his target, oppressive heat bound to win sweat in an instant, and with rage combined--old and new, illusory or real--he raised his voice in a scream aimed at both of them.
"WHAT IN THE HELL ARE YOU DOING?!"

(OOC: Aww, Kefka, sometimes more is more. It's okay though, 'cause I know you're not the type who would ever discourage someone from fully using their muse, or be jealous enough that his own post isn't as long or as in-depth in quality in comparison to put a friend down because of it. But thank you for noticing how long my post count was, hehe. [ = )
The Horseman God of Destruction grimaced as his fellow Horsemen and Warriors of Darkness mobilized forward to meet the enemy, as weak and almost pitiful as they were. He looked upon his surviving allies that had emerged in those few seconds, before the weakened forces of Light would engage them in brutal conflict directly. Not the number desired to meet the opposing forces evenly, but the darkness was always so immensely strong that the Light had to arrive in annoying swarms, like writhing maggots. One of these maggots stepped forward and had the nerve to preach back to him directly, uttering a calm tirade that was anything but short. More drivel, more words to ignore as the female joined in with worthless words, and soon the god began to grow tired of such wasted utter of breath. In the time between before the keyblader could attack, in which the Heartless would delight in taking the heart of one who wielded such a beacon of an effective weapon, his fellow veterans of the dark spoke of their own comments towards his prolonged oratory.
First was the clown, a god in his own right who came from a world in which he succeeded in turning into darkness, and ruled for a countless time in supplementing his own twisted destruction before he was taken down by the Light. And one of Chaos's Warriors, from what he could read of his deranged and insane mind with the powers the Kingdom Hearts above them had bestowed upon him, but there was some respect. This kept him momentarily from answering the clown's snarky and rude words about his speech and taste in armor, watching as he stood by the edge of the platform and awaited the Light to engage him, taking into account as the summoner and freelancer moved to engage him. He was remarking about his attire, and he was dressed as a jester? The fool should have gotten a mirror and taken a good hard look at the mismatched colors that looked like a laundry had vomited on him before talking about simple tufts of animal fur off his barbarian viking armor he had accquired for himself.
No matter, if the man wearing make-up could not survive two of the Light beating down on him, he was not fit to be a warrior of the God of Discord nor worthy to breathe air anyway.
He had not answered Kefka yet because his fellow Heartless Horseman had spoken up in agreement with him, berating him for such a long speech and stating they should get to slitting throats already. Ferser, the Horseman of Torture, it was not surprising that he couldn't wait longer than five minutes to get his knives into someone's flesh. The Heartless had already been defeated twice, once by the Keyblade Master that had defeated Xehanort's Heartless, and the other by the Nobodies when they had foolishly tried to take over their world without him. Stroud knew their time trying to acquire such a world was wasted, as he himself had tried to attack that world, but only to buy Ferser enough time to contaminate the Cornerstone in Disney Castle which was their main goal, as the Nobodies and their allies of the Light would defend that world to the bitter end. He had managed to acquire the moon shaped like a heart floating over their world though, the Kingdom Hearts of people's hearts, which had been his personal goal the whole time - a much better reward than a shell of a world.
At Ferser's and Kefka's ranting, he couldn't help but bark a cold, sinister laugh. "Perhaps you are both right when you say you've heard enough talking... I've forgotten how neither of you can understand how time is no longer irrelevant when you don't own Kingdom Heart's power as your own. Now nothing can stop me, I could have taken an eternity here for you all to bother showing up... but eliminating a few pests does sound like fun." he remarked with dark amusement, his own sword swinging down from where he had attacked the Nobody called Axel and thirsting for more pain. The Ultima spell had gone more or less than planned to give the Light a taste of his power, and the thrum that disappeared from his Piercer from the Ultima Sword had shown his seriousness in his brutality. Now, all that was left was to exterminate the Light warriors, but not after one last piece of advice to his 'comrade'.
"Oh, and crooked clown... once you have made yourself useful and come back when you're not wearing the entire circus tent in the saddening sideshow you were last performing in, and perhaps then we can talk about the animals I've slaughtered I'm wearing about who has the better grooming sense." he returned the insult with a dismissive snicker.
As Terra finished his babbling and pausing to come with him in a actual charge, Stroud had to curse himself for letting his own clever retort distract him in honorably seeing and raising the bet with Kefka, as the beginning of the electrified combo struck him, the three-sixty hit slashing across his chest armor and damaging the wolf's tails hanging there. He raised his broadsword to block the two slashes in a X-shape immediately after with his sword, but this did not negate the lightning bolts that shot past the weapon as the keyblader flew backwards, disappearing momentarily into the darkness. "So, you wish to cast away your life... perhaps that is but one answer." he remarked smugly as he tried to watch Terra, observing as he came up behind him, was not fast enough in raisng his sword in defense to stop the elemental effects of the lightning explosion rippling with pain through his very body. Just a pinch, and he shrugged it off, a crooked smile crossing his lips as the keyblade wielder finished his pathetic attack.
"Oh, there will always be Light and someone to champion it to rise against us... but in the new world, the Heartless will reign supreme, and the Darkness will corner the Light into fighting them. There must always be chaos for a little fun, after all, in the end the Light will be beaten back into their prisons." he added maliciously, lunging forward quickly to attempt to grab Terra by the scruff of his shirt, pulling him close so he could feel his stinking, vile breath on his deathly pale, cold face. "A meaningless effort." he added, before he slammed the thick of his head once into Terra's head, then a second bludgeon to the shoulder as he let go to send him flying far back even if he missed trying to grapple him. "Yes, we have won.Hope? It is useless; because it does not exist." he accused of Aqua, who was now assaulting Ferser first when he attacked Terra... how very unbecoming of the so-called benevolent 'Light'. Also to Felix, the the second arrogant red-head as well. "There is no existence of hope when you know you are going to win!" he declared, pointing his armored gauntlet upwards towards the overbearing moon of Kingdom Hearts above, as indigo and emerald energy thrusted violently up the sword to it's very tip.
"You imbeciles, I do have control off all hearts. Let me show you the meaning of true fear! As your own hearts, your own darkness, turns against you!" he announced so that all present in the Dark Abyss could hear his echoing bellow of declaration, the dark energy lacing into a ball into his hand, as the moon above them trembled and shook the very existence around them. Stroud curled his fingers inward into the ball, and as he crushed the orb of shadows in his hand, a bright sphere of light flashed around all the warriors of Light. Instantly, the battle around them would disappear in a flash of light, and fading to darkness as they felt the sensation of falling. For the keybladers, perhaps keyblades would rain around them as they fell, but for every one that struggled for the Light would slow down from their descent into darkness into a stain-glass plaform glowing in neon highlights. As the only source of Light from the immense darkness around them, the platform beneath them would depict pictures of important people the closest to their hearts, as well as important iconic figures which would be important to the paths they walked in the future.
In the darkness around the platform, and perhaps their own shadow cast by the Light, the champions that endeavored the Light would soon find themselves surrounded by movements and sounds of emerging Heartless as Stroud's Dive Into The Heart confined them all within the symbolic location deep within their own hearts.
To the villains, the Light Warriors all looked like they had been collasped and knocked out, but soon enough their vision was submerged into darkness as well. "Heroes of the Dark, you have the power to control the Heartless craving after the hearts of the Light... use them to finish off the adversary who opposes you! Unleash the darkness!" he commanded, as he himself could see the vision of the Station of Awakening of Terra's own heart, and with a simple gesture of his hand summoned the Heartless to steal the heart of Xehanort's puppet. A powerful Invisible Heartless emerged out of a dark portal, followed by two Defender and two Neoshadow Heartless flanking the stronger Heartless on each side. The Invisible charged at Terra with a strong slashing motion with his hearts-shaped sword, the Defender's wolf-like shields biting ferociously towards his arms, and the Neoshadows hastily leaping forward to slash at his sides with sharp claws.
There would be no escape from this battle back into the fight for Kingdom Hearts until the Heartless had been engaged, no struggle over their hearts to come out of their comatose state... only the deepest depth of the darkness of their own selves awaited all of them.
(OOC: Okay guys, this is the surprise me and Larxene cooked up for all of you, and we hope you have fun with this. This is the random Dive Into The Heart phase of the battle. Larxene wanted this battle to be like when Sora went into the little sub-area rooms in the World of Chaos boss, the final boss of KH1, to rescue Donald and Goofy. Since we don't have a giant Heartless ship to attach the Horsemen too, Stroud has commanded the Kingdom Hearts of people's hearts to return all the Light Warriors to their own Station of Awakening/Dive into the Heart. Just so everyone is clear and on the same page with this, these are the rules, for both the Light and the Dark. If you have any questions or not sure of something in general, please PM myself or Larxene.
Light
- You can create your own Station of Awakening. You don't have to be a keyblader to have one; this is your own interpretation of what the location inside your own heart would look like, or in Axel's case, the inside of your consciousness/soul. It doesn't even have to be a stain glass platform of a Station of Awakening/Dive into the Heart if you don't feel it's canon, it can just be a dark room with neon lights on the floor, whatever you like and feel suits your character. This is the creational part for you. The skies the limit, but don't stray too far from theme or what your character knows when illustrating what's in there, as this is your character's subconscious. You could even have a picture of the villain invading Heartless as a illustration on the floor sharing it, like it was with Ventus/Vanitas's Awakening at the end of BBS, but you need permission from the villain you're opposing and state it as such in your post.
- Just because you have a Station of Awakening/Dive Into The Heart, obviously, this does not mean your character can get a keyblade.
- This phase of fighting Heartless will only last one round. You don't have to defeat all of them; merely survive.
- Going about your post, react to Stroud's surprise ability as you see fit, then just post your character diving into their Dive Into The Heart, and if your opponent controlling the Heartless hasn't posted before you to react to, simply prepare yourself for an attack or send off a power into the dark at will. Up to you.
Darkness
- The fun part for you guys to be creative with is your choice on what Heartless appear, as you will be controlling them to help out the staff! You can pick any lesser Heartless from the series of games you like, or if you wish, invent/create your own. Again, sky is the limit! Color-coding your Heartless species and even pictures will also help your opponent a lot with what they are dealing with, the types of Heartless can be found here. You can even make a dark Heartless version of the character of your opponent, but no copying of their signature abilities. More on Heartless powers are below.
- Pick your own number of how many should appear. Five or less should be enough for both your opponent, and for you to control and keep track of. There may be an increase in number if we feel you guys can get a good handle on it.
- No human/character or boss Heartless are allowed. This is the fight for the lesser Heartless, or Heartless that appear in normal fights in the game. So no Sora's Heartless, or Anti-Soras, or Xehanort's Heartless obviously. Also, don't be silly and put in non-aggressive Heartless, like the various Mushroom types, you will be judged by how well and seriously you handle your Heartless as well. If there is a canon Heartless from the series you'd like to use but aren't sure of, ask one of the admin.
- Just have your Heartless do one of their known attacks. If it's a original/created one, don't have them use any powers which may be unfair or power-playing, such as possession or whatever. It should all be simple attacks, like slashing, casting etc. Just one attack per Heartless/species, so you don't overwhelm your opponent.
EDIT: It would help your opponent, like your abilities, to color highlight the name of the type/species of Heartless, link a picture, or bold any attacks they might have to help them understand more clearly.
- You could even have a picture of yourself as a illustration on the floor of the hero of Light your are invading with the Heartless, like it was with Ventus/Vanitas's Awakening at the end of BBS, but you need permission from the hero you're opposing and state it as such in your post.
- Everyone in the Kingdom Hearts raid has been transported to this Dive To The Heart phase, and the person who you engaged last in the last round is the person whom you are matched with, and the character on the side of Light's Dive To The Heart is the stage of the battle. For example, since I engaged Terra last, Stroud will be controlling his Heartless in his Dive to the Heart. The rest of the match-ups if they are not clear are as follows:
Light | Dark
Terra - Stroud
Aqua - Ferser
Axel - Kairi
Felix & Eiko - Kefka*
-will add Group 2 to the list in a further update if Maurelle does not in her post-
*I understand since Balthier failed to post (and Red XIII, in the other raid, respectively) failed to post, there are uneven numbers, so it's up to you Kefka if you want to control both Heartless in both of their Dive Into The Heart(s), or you want a staff member like myself to.
EDIT: If you like Kefka, I can move one of the villains over to post momentarily in this thread to post for the Heartless for one of your opponents for just the one round. Or move either Felix or Eiko move over to post their Dive To The Heart in the other raid, if that balances out things.
- Last note, since everyone is transported to their warrior of Light's Dive Into The Heart, you cannot normally attack your opponents in any way until the following round after Stroud has posted. Your opponent shouldn't be able to see your character either, they can be hiding far away in the depths of the darkness, but they can only see and engage the Heartless you control. At the end of your post, you can simply have your character come to and get ready to attack the Light, as they will be in real time coming out of their Dive Into The Heart as you are to resume the flow of battle normally.
Questions, comments, suggestions should all be PMed or asked privately to the admin. Good luck, and have fun with this!)

Terra’s destiny was finally beginning to unfold, one way or another. He had successfully approached a god and declared him nothing but a man. He had successfully proven that a god can be injured, even if it was but a scratch to him. Now it was time for a man to prove he could destroy a god, a god that craved the destruction of all light. Today, a god would fall among a man of justice such as himself. Today would prove to pull in Stroud’s last breath of air.
Before Terra had time to continue his onslaught, grabbed the bronze keyblader by the breastplate of his armor. Immediately, Terra released his armor. If Stroud wanted to stare into his eyes, then he would stare straight into his eyes without a visor to block his vision. With sheer determination that would be caught dead in anyone who held his vision, Terra unfalteringly glanced into the empty soul of the Heartless leader. There was nothing Stroud could to do injure the keybearer’s determination. There was nothing Stroud could do to prevent his inevitable demise.
Terra bore his teeth in a slight grin as the head of the Horsemen leader smashed itself against the bridge of the keyblader’s nose. He felt two things, the burn of a broken nose and the cool, crimson liquid running down the front of his face. Those two things combined with the self-pride Terra had gained in the moments surrounding this confrontation strengthened Terra’s heart in unimaginable bounds. He felt as if he could topple not only this god, but any like him who stood in his way. Terra would see that these Heartless came to an end, no matter what ends he had to travel to in order to see it happen.
”Even the most meaningless effort can be accomplished if turn towards those who would help you. Our hope for a day where we can live without you beasts moves to us to destroy you.”[/b]
Before Stroud could toss Terra like a ragdoll, Terra sent his own cranium crashing towards the Heartless. The thought behind this wasn’t much, but something along the lines of ‘anything you can do, I can do better.’ His smile stayed locked as he quickly took air to land on his shoulder blades on the pitch black ground below. The Heartless spoke again, condemning those who believed in hope.
The bronze keybearer turned back to the figure of his opponent to see the Heartless gain the help of his kin. A small kunai soared through the battlefield with a target set to Eraqus’s pupil himself. It was all Terra could do to dodge the blow by bending his back in an arc that would allow him to watch the shine of the object barely miss his temple, with no more than an inch of comfort between the two. With bronze keyblade in hand, Terra was moments away from approaching his enemies when a new challenger to the Heartless arrived, along with many other heroes and villains. His best friend, quite possibly even his breath of relief in the darkest of times, Aqua had made her presence known by standing next to the keybearer of earth himself. Finally, he had a chance to see her smile once more. He had a chance to hear her lecture him once more. He had a chance to fight alongside her once more. Sure, she had reunited with her in the halls of their former home and once again during the Mark of Mastery exam outside Yen Sid’s tower, but Terra had instantly learned not to take each reunion for shame. Ten years without a body will do that to you.
”Let’s show these Heartless what power the Light can possess.”[/b]
Terra did not have long to plan a full-on offensive. The Heartless known as Stroud cast an emerald beam toward the moon above and began to speak once more, saying that his own darkness would now turn against him. Terra had long ago learned that his darkness should be acknowledged but not feared. His darkness had proven to act as a Siamese twin in times, often taking over the vessel of his body and forcing his keyblade to do what his heart commanded otherwise. Terra never wanted to see Master Eraqus fall; he never wanted to see the look on Aqua’s face when she discovered what had become of her closest friend in Radiant Garden. He never wanted to be controlled by Master Xehanort. And it would not happen again. IT COULD NOT HAPPEN AGAIN!
”It’s impossible to for a darkness to turn against me when I’ve kept it chained.”[/b]
Before Terra had a chance to act against it, he watched as the heart-shaped moon above them trembled in front of them. Something had shook it to its very core, and the keyblader had a good guess that it came from the swirl of purples and blues, blacks and violets, in the center of Stroud’s vile hand. He then clutched the sphere and crushed it beneath his own might.
The keyblader of the light didn’t know what to make of this, until he began his descent in a rain of keyblades. He looked around to see all sorts of Ends of the Earth keyblades falling alongside him. It was an oddly ominous sight as he landed on a circular station that held his flesh figure kneeling over his keyblader. Behind Terra’s image stood his armored figure in a similar matter, in perfect symmetry to his flesh and blood. The side with Terra knelt in the depth of night, while his armor looked towards the day. As a border a couple dozen squares with rounded edges facing the centerpiece circled the image with the image of the Wayfinder in Terra’s pocket as the occupant in each square.
As the bronze keyblader stood to his feet, he noticed the appearance of five Heartless. One carried a large sword while two were carrying a massive shield. He couldn’t help but think the Heartless Horseman was behind all of this. Terra re-summoned his keyblade to his hand, which had inconveniently landed in the center of the platform, just as the Invisible approached him with a horizontal slash. The hero of light ducked and performed a parallel slash to the creature’s midsection.
Unfortunately, he wouldn’t have time to keep his counter up as the two Neoshadows jumped and slashed at him from behind. He caught one with the tip of his blade as the other managed to only catch his left arm. He took the one that his keyblade ripped into and tossed it towards the blade-wielding Heartless and jumped over the charging Defenders and finished his combo with a second powerful vertical slash aimed at both of the creatures’ backsides.
Terra would not fall to any normal Heartless if he was destined to fall at all. He would only allow himself to fall to Stroud, leader of the Heartless Horsemen, if he was to fall at all. However, as he stated earlier, his heart would not let him fall today!
