The Castle of Dreams…
Dreams… The Masked Man did indeed have dreams… But, then again, who in existence did not? Who had nothing to gain in his life and only to lose? A poor selective amount of fools. But the Masked Man’s dream’s were noble, and yet the world did not see it this way. There were those who would come to rise against him thinking him a villain… but was he really? Maybe his ways seemed villainous, but the Masked Man knew his legacy would never end negatively. Never.
A black cloak trailed over the path as he walked up to the steps of the castle, boots slightly clicking on the stone. He needed to find the world’s keyhole, to finish what he was trying to do in Neverland. To not let some villain ruin his noble ambitions this time! The world would change under his fingertips, shape itself the way he wanted…
As he passed the garden he let the energy from within him seep out over his hands. It twisted purple tendrils into the plants, giving them a bizarre appearance as they over grew their pots and onto the ground. A smirk arose under the mask on the figure. Of course over growing the plants was nothing, the world would set it right soon for it was too bathed in Light for his powers to affect it for long, but nonetheless it felt good to use it. To truly turn this world to the state it needed to be in, he needed to find the keyhole… and change it for the Neutral
This is where you failed Stroud, you turned to the darkness for answers… You were relentless… where did it end for you? Your pride got in the way of our mission and now here I am picking up your pieces. Pathetic. I really thought a Human Heartless could do so much more. a chuckle escaped his lips Turn this world to Darkness is what you would do, what your NATURE told you to do… and then, you would summon all the ‘heros’ to this realm… There was so much I should have told you before you fell at my hand… How weak, how pathetic… The Masked Man paused at the Castle door, looking up at the looming figure. But what does it matter now? another smirk under the mask Exactly, it does not.

Cloud had a secret. During his travel through the worlds in search of Sora, there was an encounter that had his mind spinning. He was already at odds with himself, not knowing what side he was truly on in this conflict. Add the encounter to the equation... Well, he really didn’t know what to do. He told not a soul, trying to push it out of his mind. He hoped it would just go away.
The blond had searched the world of the Castle of Dreams inside and out; the surrounding woodlands and town, the dungeons and towers of its mighty castle. There was no sign that Sora had even come here, for no one even recognized his name. The Imaginary SOLDIER sighed, he’d spent way too long here. Every second he spent searching for Sora was another second closer Genesis and Angeal were to achieving their goal… A goal they could not be allowed to achieve. The safety of the worlds were at stake, and they were depending on him to do this last bit of heroic service before withdrawing to Gaia and accepting what fate bestowed upon him: the wing. It was source of Cloud’s doubts, what caused him to question whether he was on the side of Light like he thought he belonged, or if he was truly a creature of darknes... Like the others with one wing, like Sephiroth.
Shaking his head, the one winged demon let out a sigh and started making his way towards the door. He let his eyes wander left and right, scanning across those of the court for anyone that seemed to notice how out of place he was. No one bothered to glance at him, it seemed they were used to visitors. If that was the case, then unless there had been a great battle between him and the Heartless there would be no reason for them to remember Sora. It was another dead end, but he couldn’t give up. Besides, with this world out of the way he knocked it down to two possibilities where Sora could be: Destiny Islands, or Disney castle. The former was his home, and the latter was the stronghold of the Light... And the home of Sora’s closest friends. Cloud nodded, placing his hands upon the door. He’d check the castle first, with all of the chaos going on between the worlds certainly he’d be there or a least have been there recently enough to track without much effort.
As he pushed open the doors, his eyes set upon a cloaked figure with a mask that had been looking at the door. At a glance he thought maybe it was a member of the Organization, but then he realized that the cloak was wrong. Besides, the Organization had no reason to wear masks and hide their identity. His mako blue eyes fell upon those of the masked man for a moment, before dismissively closing then with a sigh. It didn’t matter who he was, to be brutally honest, Cloud had a job to do and there was no reason to concern himself with other worlds. They weren’t his problem, they could handle themselves.
“Tch,” Cloud snorted, pushing passed the Masked Man onto the path that led away from the castle. It was time to get back on Fenrir and head out to find Sora.

Light…
Darkness…
The Masked Man could sense a being approaching him, a being so wrought with the constant war of the two forces within itself that the cloaked figure could not pin who the person was. After a moment though, the Masked Man had to question no longer for the being presented itself in front of his face… literally.
Cloud Strife? the Masked Man thought frowning behind the mask as he checked to make sure he was sensing correctly… he was. How is it that a so highly regarded hero is so tainted by the darkness? Intriguing… He fights the war of the worlds within himself… The eyes of the Masked Man met the mako infused ones of the young “hero”. Very, very interesting… I wonder…
[/i] But before the cloaked figure could say anything the spiky-headed swordsman “tch-ed” and made his way past him. No, the Masked Man couldn’t let this go without question; there was so much he could learn from this moment… So much he could gain. And so he spoke the words he knew would make the blonde turn. “Cloud Strife. Former SOLDIER First Class. Ah, so they are sending in the true heroes? A smirk rose under the mask again. That’s right Cloud, turn around and face me. Go on, fall into my plan.[/i] [/blockquote]

“Cloud Strife. Former SOLDIER First Class. Ah, so they are sending in the true heroes? The imaginary SOLDIER froze, stopping mid step. Cloud could only be half surprised that someone among the worlds knew who he was. It was no secret he was apart of the Hollow Bastion Restoration Committee, and he had taken part in tournaments at Olympus Coliseum. But to know about his "history" as a member of SOLDIER? Something... Wasn't right, something was wrong about this situation. He just couldn't place it... It didn't matter though, what he needed now were answers. "Heh, in my head..." Cloud replied quietly to the Masked Man's remark about him being SOLDIER, the blond finally setting his foot down as his eyes fell upon the plants around him. They were far from the neatly trimmed flowers and bushes he'd passed on the way in. Instead he found purple and green plants that were overgrown and smothered the sides of the walkway. How had he not noticed them, was he really that lost in thought? He needed to pay more attention, needed to be more careful or else something terrible would happen to him. And this time, no one would come to save him. Cloud looked over his shoulder, setting his gaze upon the Masked Man as he slowly turned around. His hand instinctively found itself upon the handle of his Fusion Sword, tightening its grip as he bowed his head and took a step towards him. "I don't know where you get your information from, but I'm no hero," Cloud began, opting to get right to the point. There was no time for idle chitchat, ultimately this was a distraction. He shouldn't have even responded, but whoever this was knew him and because of that he probably knew more about Gaia than Cloud would like... And judging by his entrance towards the castle, this made him a threat to his friends. "How do you know about me, and what do you want? I don't have time for games, so lets mosey and get this over with."The "Big Gun" was not in the mood to play around. Get the information and get out, that's all he wanted.
[ This fits so perfectly for this scene]

The corners of the Masked Man’s mouth upturned under the mask.Ah, so he doesn’t consider himself a true hero? Does he blame himself for the darkness within him then? the cloaked figure thought as he turned his masked head to gaze into the eyes of the blonde once more. He watched as the “hero” went to grasp his blade.
Perfect… The masked man chuckled at the questions the Warrior of Light presented him with. “You’re no hero? You have every mark of one. Noble deeds are done in your name, you fought and destroyed the darkness…” the masked head tilted up to look back at the castle. “My information comes from… reliable sources, Cloud.”
The Masked Man looked back at the Warrior, facing him fully this time, taking a few causal steps towards the swordsman. As he walked his hand made its way in the cloak, taking a firm grasp on his own blade incase the blonde lost his temper. You fall too easily for the mundane things… You always have that ‘Whatever’ air to you, but you really DO care… don’t you Cloud? Things DO matter to you and that’s why you turned to face me.
The Masked Man raised his left hand in the air ”What is it that I require of you? Nothing. I simply thought you were here seeking me, but I suppose I was wrong. But since you are here Cloud, I suppose there IS something you are seeking? An answer to the war of Darkness in Light within you, perhaps?” He lowered his arm ”Don’t be too shocked, Cloud, the war of Light and Darkness happens to the most noble of men. Each man faces decisions that shape their mortal lives and immortal legacies. We all want to do what is right, what is humane and correct but there is still that endless war of Light and Darkness. The cloaked figure took another few steps towards Cloud ”You might not think you are a hero, but no doubt you have done heroic things… Yet you feel nothing… you feel you’ve accomplished nothing because that war continues on… ” the masked head bowed ”I know what it feels like Cloud, I felt the same way.” A smirk appeared behind the masked again ”Ah, but you have more important things to attend to Cloud, I’m sorry for keeping you waiting. Forgive me for rambling.”
But even as he spoke the lines, the Masked Man knew he had trapped the warrior already, it was only a matter of time before he convinced the blonde to actually agree with him… then maybe together they could change the keyhole…

Listening to the Masked Man began to explain why Cloud was a hero just made the blond shake his head. If only the Masked Man knew what was hiding underneath his shirt... Then he'd realize that though Cloud was once a hero, he wasn't anymore. He'd fallen from grace and become a monster, a one winged mutant like Sephiroth and the others. It wasn't his job to take on the Darkness anymore, that responsibility fell on the true Warriors of Light. All Cloud was trying to do was make sure Gaia would be safe once he was gone. Glancing back towards the castle while the Masked Man did, he set his eyes back upon Neutral's Knight while he continued.
"Sorry, your information is old news. A lot has happened since then," Cloud informed him, taking a step back to turn his side towards the Masked Man as he was approached and make it easier to slash him if necessary. With Fusion Sword between them he wasn't taking any chances at being unprepared in the event this conversation turned hostile. Taking note of the Masked Man reaching into his cloak, Cloud continued. "I didn't ask what you required of me, I asked you what do you want. I don't know anything about you, why would I seek you?"
What the Masked Man continued to say caught Cloud off guard, causing him to avert his gaze for a moment while it all sank into his mind. What was he getting at? Better question: How much did he know? Cloud knew that no one had been there the one time his wing had resurfaced in public, so he couldn't know about what was going on from that. Maybe he was able to sense the Darkness in others like Kefka and Terra? If that was the case... Was the Darkness in his heart even greater than he feared? That would only fuel the reasoning he had to withdraw from the others and take himself out with Sephiroth once and for all before anyone else truly got hurt...
"You might not think you are a hero, but no doubt you have done heroic things… Yet you feel nothing… You feel you’ve accomplished nothing because that war continues on… I know what it feels like Cloud, I felt the same way."
That phrase brought Cloud's eyes back to the Masked Man, and he narrowed them as Neutral's Knight. He felt the same way? Cloud doubted that, he couldn't possibly understand what had happened and what he'd gone through. Whoever this person was he certainly wasn't aligned with the Light, and as such was probably too wrapped up in his own selfish desire to understand Cloud's internal struggle.
"What're you getting at? You don't know me." Cloud answered the Masked Man as he finished, standing firmly and staring back into his eyes. He was making it clear that he wasn't leaving without getting the answers he wanted. Of course he had business elsewhere, but what he'd found here was too important to just leave behind... Especially with what was possibly at stake.

He speaks with little words …
Smirks were a common occurrence under the Masked Man’s mask now, Cloud just had the responses to make him do that… for once the mask was a blessing, Cloud might have seen his true intentions to soon if it wasn’t for that. “You must have changed much in a short period of time then, Cloud.” the slight chuckle in his voice was apparent, yet not even the Masked Man knew how ironic that statement was.
The Masked Man saw that now the sword, even though was still sheathed, was between them. It was now just as easy for Cloud to yank out his blade as it was for the cloaked figure. It was a slightly more threating air to be put in this position and the next words out of the blonde’s mouth told the ‘Neutral Knight’ that it was because Cloud himself felt threatened.
But it was his reaction to the hero statement that was what the Masked Man wanted to hear. Checkmate he thought silently. “Ah… so there isn’t something you have to do? You wish to listen to an old man ramble on about nobility and the end of this seemingly endless war? Cloud, you see I DO know you… I know you because you are a man like me. A man of honor and nobility, a man with perfectly great intentions disregarded because of the need to fight. You fight for the Light for you think they are the only ones who can end the war but at the conclusion of each major threat you realize it is only another battle in a war that you can never end. You are trapped Cloud, and so was I. He relaxed his hand around the blades handle, a bold move obviously if the blonde was to strike, but if he was not, perhaps he could make a more comfortable air. “True, my knowledge on your past is vaster then most, but it limited by simple word of mouth. Yet I can sense the war that rages in your heart and pity you for the fights you consistently go through. Do you wish to continue that fight Cloud, or perhaps you really are seeking peace in your heart…? If it the latter option, I might be able to help you. another smirk under the mask “That is… if you wish to listen…”
It was only a matter of time before Cloud was rethinking his whole plan… The Masked Man could then possibly use him for something more than just obtaining the world in a Neutral state… No, Cloud would serve well for his other intention.

You have no idea, Cloud thought, trying to hide the expression of pain that he felt throbbing in his shoulder. That was part of the reason he was holding the handle so tightly, to try and divert his attention from the pain and focus on the situation at hand. The man’s chuckle annoyed Cloud, and the Masked Man’s monologue didn’t help matters. It wasn’t that Cloud had nothing to do, it was the importance of this situation superseded what he was doing before. He claimed to be like Cloud, a notion Cloud rejected at first while he continued to listen... His eyes wandered to the plants around them once more.
Part of what the man said was true, Cloud had been drawn into senseless battle again and again ever since he was summoned by Cosmos to battle for her against the forces of Chaos. He’d fought for the Light, believing them to be right and that by defeating the Darkness they’d be able to bring peace to the worlds... But no matter how hard he’d tried, the Darkness always found a way to counter. Especially Sephiroth, he’d tied Cloud so closely to the conflict to the point where unless Cloud was killed simultaneously with the One Winged Angel there was nothing to keep him from returning each time he was killed. He was trapped... Still, was he really like the Masked Man? He’d never have done things to the world like the Masked Man was doing, at least before... He didn’t know anymore, after all now he was a monster... What was he capable of doing?
Returning his eyes to the Masked Man, Cloud took note of how relaxed the Masked Man was. Did he really feel comfortable around Cloud? Perhaps he wasn’t planning to attack, if he’d heard what he claimed to have heard then he’d know what Cloud was capable of and wouldn’t take him lightly.
“I don’t need your pity,” Cloud said quietly, but he was hooked: line and sinker. He wanted to end the senseless fighting, be able to return to how he was and find peace like he had shortly after his second battle with Sephiroth... But there was a problem to this. He could never truly be Light again, the Darkness had stained him and cursed him with a wing, turned him into the One Winged Demon. On top of that, he knew that Sephiroth was a serious threat and needed to be destroyed. The only way to do that was to die alongside Sephiroth in battle, end of story. Despite all that though... Was this man really capable of ending the conflict? What was he talking about, “so was I”? How had he managed to escape the conflict? He looked down at the ground for a moment, considering the proposal before looking back into the eyes behind the mask.
“How’d you escape? And what could you possibly do for me?”

You say little but think much… ah… is there something you wish to hide from me Cloud? The Masked Man’s eyes studied Cloud’s every movement as he didn’t respond right away. The tight grip around Cloud’s sword didn’t go unnoticed to the man who wondered if it was out of threat or… something else.
It took Cloud a long time to respond and the first words out of his mouth disappointed the cloaked figure a bit, yet the way he phrased his sentence had the word “but” hanging in the air. You don’t need my pity, but you still want it, don’t you Cloud? You want someone to understand your suffering, don’t you? To see you aren’t the hero they claim you are. It took Cloud a bit longer to finish the “but” he left in the air but he did.
Hook, Line and Sinker… So Cloud wanted to know what the Masked Man could do? It was perfect, far too perfect. There was a very little chance the Masked Man could lose Cloud now… “Simple, I didn’t choose either side. To escape an endless war of darkness and light, you can’t be part of either. The Light’s intentions are good, but short sided. The Dark is too chaotic to rule or rule over. You need a balance, either being above the other will get you nowhere. If one could come to a place where both sides agree the war would end. The Neutral fraction emerged out of that issue.” the Masked Man waved his hand around once more. “But Cloud, you must know the Neutral fraction as one who does not fight or make a stand simply as a fraction that is neither side... a category of misfits who neither fall in the Light or the Darkness… this is not entirely true. Some are, undoubtedly, but there are some, like me, who wish to balance the world’s power with Neutral as their colors. The Masked Man looked Cloud dead in the eye “I CHOSE the Neutral. I CHOSE to be a warrior to end this endless conflict, to rid the worlds of their horrid back and forth fighting. And I can offer you the same Cloud. I am no villain. I will not offer you a chance to rule the worlds, this is not my purpose. My purpose is the same you strive for, an end to the seemingly endless conflict. It might seem impossible, but it is slowly happening… Within time, the universe will be free of this war, and with your help it will be free of its shackles so much sooner. The Masked Man held out a gloved hand at Cloud, a simple gesture of securing the deal. “What says you Cloud, will you join me?”
Cloud wasn’t too likely to agree immediately but finality of the statement might draw him to a conclusion rather than endless questions. If he had questions, the Masked Man would answer them. Right now it boiled too how long Cloud would make him dance. The Neutral Knight doubted Cloud could resist this offer for long…

If there was one thing that Cloud had noticed about the Masked Man, it was that he liked to talk. He was almost the perfect mirror to Cloud in that respect, he kept the conversation alive and moving forward. Silently the Imaginary SOLDIER listened to the Masked Man’s offer, letting the logic of it seep in. At fist what he said was nothing new to Cloud, he’d already figured out the futility of continuing the conflict. No matter what happened, no matter who won the latest battle the other side would find a way to strike back and put itself on top. There was no way to keep either the Light or Darkness down for the count, there was simply too many on either side. Still... Now it was clear that Cloud was not alone in wanting to end the conflict, perhaps there were likely others that were willing to compromise to a permanent truce instead of forever fighting a war they wouldn’t win.
Staring back into the eyes of the Masked Man, Cloud let the Neutral’s Knight’s words roll around in his head. He wanted to defeat the Light and Darkness? If either side couldn’t defeat the other, how could adding another faction solve anything? It couldn’t, Cloud figured the only thing that could be done is the Light and Dark deciding to remain within their territory and not attempt to expand anymore. Then again, neither side took the Neutral seriously. If Neutral was able to attack and do major damage now, helping the stronger force destroy the weaker one then turn and eliminate the stronger... It was a long shot though, Cloud wasn’t convinced. It did seem impossible, and even if he had managed to get some ground it was far from proof that it would work. What if the Masked Man said was true though, his intentions pure? Did he truly just want to end the conflict?
The blond soon found his Mako blue eyes falling upon the extended hand of the Masked Man, before looking back up into his eyes once more. Regardless of what he thought, he hadn’t won Cloud just yet. Sure, he had Cloud thinking about a new approach to ending the war should he find another way to stop Sephiroth... But it did nothing for Cloud himself. What of his internal struggle, would he fight this battle and still have to fight himself? No matter how great he supposedly was, he couldn’t win every battle if this continued. No one could, but one who is distracted is far more likely to fall than one who’s focused.
Tearing his eyes from the Masked Man once more, Cloud let out a sigh. Alright, possibly he would aid the cause of the Neutral, but the Masked Man himself? Well, there was still one more question to ask. Returning his gaze back through the mask, Cloud quietly responded.
“What of my personal conflict?”
