The boy thinks more than talks…
A serious silence had fallen between the pair as Cloud seemed to mull the worlds that the Masked Man had spoken to him. He held out hand never wavered for its spot. From what the Masked Man could see, the blond really took the words to heart, seeing exactly what the Masked Man saw and even accepting it as a good idea. Yet when Mako blue eyes locked with him once more a question still lingered on those lips Don’t except me to read your mind… Cloud.
A quick glance at the hand and the words made themselves known. A chuckle escaped the lips of the tall figure as the hand was calmly withdrawn. “It is liberating… You learn quickly how to seek balance in the worlds and through that, you find balance in yourself. You must know, just like the worlds a person cannot constantly be forcing themselves to one side or another… it corrupts within.” The irony of the sentence was enough to make the Masked Man smirk under the mask once more, but he highly doubted Cloud could see what he meant. “This path will teach you balance. Nevermore, must you fight either side within you to have it be suppressed. Nevermore will you be unable to use your light abilities, or stop the dark ones from coming out against your will. Nevermore will you struggle with yourself, hate yourself for who you are. You will be like ying and yang, completely balanced just like I am.” He raised both hands “There is a misconception about the Darkness, that it must not exist at all. Such action is next to impossible… it is the warriors who don’t let it control them that succeed. The same is with light. No doubt of it, you have seen those so… high on their pedestal about doing what’s right that they become blinded to some actions of others and assume anything that isn’t done in the name of light is wrong. a shake of the masked head “Balance is the key and no one realizes it. Realize it, Cloud. Be one of the few who understands this problem and join me. I promise, no I swear, balance will be in your reach. For the worlds, for the universe, for yourself.” a gloved hand present itself to the sword’s man once more “What say you, Cloud? Will you join me?”
It was only a matter of time now. Unless a grave error in how the Masked Man had read Cloud, the boy would be agreeing with him…. right… now.

Taking notice of the Masked Man withdrawing his hand, the silent brooder listened on as the long winded monologuer began yet another speech. He spoke of liberation through action, by helping the worlds find a balance between Light and Darkness that Cloud would find the ability to find balance within himself. No longer would he have to force himself onto the side of the Light and battle the Darkness in his heart. No more would he have to deal with the temptation of giving in to the Darkness that was clouding his Light heart. He could peacefully use the abilities of both Light and Darkness, without worrying about losing his Light abilities while suppressing his Dark ones from surfacing. He could be free of his personal struggle, free from his self hatred... Be balanced. It all just sounded too good to be true. ...Then the Masked Man’s next words began to sink into the mind of the Imaginary SOLDIER. There had to be a balance between Light and Darkness, neither side could exist without the other. It was impossible to completely eliminate one or the other, and both sides were blinded by their ambition involving their side to see the futility of their efforts to eradicate each other. If they realized that there needed to be balance... They could keep each other in check, instead of fighting for control, and end the cycle of conflict that plagued them. It would have to be done forcefully, but if enough heard the truth and realized what needed to be done they would move on to do it themselves and before long it would all be over. The plan seemed like it could work, and Cloud took a deep breath as he let the offer roll over in his mind while the Masked Man offered his hand in partnership once more. He was silent for a moment, strongly considering grasping the hand of the one who originally seemed to be his adversary but turned out to possibly be a savior for Cloud, for the worlds. Cloud slowly walked towards the Masked Man, locking eyes with the man as he made his way directly in front of the robed figure. His hand was more relaxed now, the handle of Fusion Sword free of his grasp. He could see the color of the man’s eyes, almost picture what the face he was hiding looked like. His hand twitched at his side, forearm slightly cocking forward as if it was preparing to reach forward and grasp the gloved hand before him. He took a deep breath once more, glancing back down at the Masked Man’s hand then back to his eyes once more. Anyone could see that despite the hesitance and worry in Cloud’s eyes that we was already convinced by the Masked Man that this very much was a possible alternative to the suicidal murder of Sephiroth that he had been contemplating before. Slowly, his hand began to rise, reaching towards the hand of the Masked Man... ...But Cloud’s hand gently landed on the Masked Man’s shoulder, before he slowly started to walk passed him. He couldn’t do it, not yet. He needed a lot more time to think about the offer before he could make a decision. After all, changing sides in a war was never an easy choice to make. Cloud knew that from experience, both from Chaos and Cosmos, as well as from ShinRa and AVALANCHE. Still, he wasn’t about the hinder the Masked Man or the Neutral regardless of what his final decision was going to be. Their cause was a noble one, one that Cloud might join shortly. He didn’t want to ruin that chance. He walked without a word back to the entrance of the castle, before he stopped and glanced over his shoulder back towards the Masked Man. “So what’re we doing here? I doubt you’ve come on vacation.” Cloud asked, before turning his head forward and making his way into the castle. Whatever his ally was here for, his objective was undoubtedly within the castle. That being said, the Masked Man was sure to follow Cloud towards said objective.

Despite how faceless the Masked Man seemed to be, he was but a man. As Cloud slowly relinquished his grip on the blade and made the forever slow turn about to face him, the man behind the mask felt his breath catch a little, the familiar excitement of one about to face a glorious outcome creep into his heart making it beat faster with the adrenaline it supplied. The transition took forever… simply forever. Mako blue eyes locked with those shielded by the mask, probably filled with a slight sparkle of excitement. It was only then that the free hand began to move, as if it reflected some urge that Cloud was trying to suppress within him. Come now Cloud… Don’t leave me hanging [/i] As the hand slowly rose a slight panic rose in the Neutral Knight. Had he pushed too far to fast? Would this man ever be as willing as the one he had under his care already? Could the “hero” betray him? Would his heart be so easily swayed to other ideas as well? But another look into the hero’s eyes and the Man quieted. Cloud was convinced that this path was the right path, trust in the man before him seemed to be the issue of the hesitant hand. As the hand neared, the Masked Man could feel the grin widen on his face. Prehaps Cloud was really blind enough to just trust him. The cloaked figure spread his fingers a bit more reaching towards the blonde slightly as if to offer to meet him in the middle. Victory was only inches from his grasp now… NO![/i] the word ripped through the Masked Man’s mind in a heartbeat as he saw the hand surpass him. The grin turned into a sour scowl behind the mask at the sudden rejection Idiot boy, what are you-?[/i] but the thought did not complete itself. A hand rested on the shoulder of the figure as Cloud pushed past him. Something about the contact shut the negative thoughts in the Masked Man’s head for a moment. Slowly the man in the mask turned to face the blonde that only a moment ago was so in his grasp. The swordsman was staring up at the castle and after a moment of his usual silence, his usual short clipped response came out of his mouth. At first the stupidity of the question angered the man before him, how could the man ask a stupid question of him after just denying him what he wanted the most? It was like a father and his toddler son, asking stupid questions that they thought were more important than the responsibilities they had to accomplish. But after a moment of this line of thinking the Masked Man came to on realization. He had said weWe, plural as if he included himself in the path already. Cloud was far from ignorant of the situation, he was the opposite, very smart. He chose what he gave to the end result rather than throwing himself at the mercy of the man in the mask. While the Masked Man would have loved the complete willingness, he understood Cloud’s response… the cloaked figure would have done the same thing. The most important part of the battle was won, Cloud believed him. The man took a step towards Cloud. “Hardly. There is no rest for those who attempt to fix the broken universe.” He approached the castle doors and stood next to the blonde “I have come to offer this world balance. Why don’t you join me Cloud? I shall show you the work that will have to be done.” he pushed forth the doors and beckoned the man inside. “Of course, you have not been trained to accomplish what I have, but that is no mind. If you claim a world for neutral that is all it would take.” The two of them walked down the lavish hall. Because of the world being light, no Heartless appeared on the long length. “A world like this might seem so grand, Cloud, but it will only bring pride and war to its domain for as long as it is possibly claimable…” he cloak slid across the red carpet as the two neared the end of the hall. “So… it would be in our best interest to make it as least claimable as possible.” They had reached the end of the hall and the man hesitated as he pushed the one door. “Do you understand, Cloud?”Regardless of the answer, after a moment’s pause the Masked Man opened the door. “I know you do, you need not tell me.” he spoke quietly ending all talk between them. It had come time for the man with the mask to complete what he had come here for. Looking up at the ceiling in the grand hall they had walked into, the man could feel the keyhole’s presence. He shut his eyes for a moment and suddenly the keyhole’s shape appeared high above them, glowing with the light it held. Raising a gloved hand towards it, a stream of violet light poured out and the keyhole started to change. Bizarre things started to happen to the world, as if it was getting twisted slightly. “Be not alarmed” the Masked Man spoke when assumed Cloud’s worry. “It’s the world resisting.” that was a lie, but Cloud would know no different. The keyhole shined an eerie bluish-green color as the once gold features about them seemed to change into a hue more of green. Unknown to Cloud, the sky outside started to change to a bright violet as a pink mist settled over the courtyard. The overgrown grass turned red, and grew more while the fountains made silver water. The whole world seemed… corrupted. After the transformation was complete the Masked Man lowered his arm, allowing the keyhole shape to fade from the changed ceiling and the man looked at Cloud. “It seems odd now, and it might for a while, but the world will settle in the long run Cloud. This world, like so many others hasn’t found a steady balance and over compensates when it attempts to fight back. Nothing is wrong with this world, it only needs to get use to this state.” the man turned his head to the stairs before them “… I trust you understand what needs to be done? If you need me, meet me here. I know you need some time to think, and so I will give it to you. Return when you are ready to take your first step down this journey.” the man took a few steps away from Cloud, knowing the man would now follow just about anything he said. “Oh, I nearly forgot, I suppose you won’t be joining me for my other endeavor, will you?”[/blockquote]

“Of course,” the Masked Man was right. Trying to save the universe wasn’t a picnic, it would take a constant struggle with little time for anything else. When the Masked Man entered, he followed, listening to what had to be said. Whatever was about to happen, Cloud couldn’t do it himself. Still, if Cloud won a world for the Neutral then it would be enough to satisfy their plans. When he spoke of how a world of Light or Darkness may seem perfect to that side, and that it only brought war, he was right. Neither side would be satisfied until there was a ceasefire, so long as they were competing for worlds they would attack whatever strongholds they could claim. Cloud understood perfectly what the Masked Man was saying, and remained silent as the Masked Man explained he knew that Cloud already understood. When Neutral’s Knight stopped, so did the One Winged Demon, and he watched him until the Light of the Keyhole above them caught his attention. Cloud looked up at it, there was nothing special about it. To think this was the important point of the world that could end its very existence. He began to wonder where the one on Gaia was, heh, he wouldn’t be surprised if Midgar, heck Shinra’s Headquarters was built on it. Cloud saw the Masked Man raise his hand, the violet light quickly overtaking the keyhole. His eyes started darting around them, it was just like the transformation that had begun outside. Of course it could be the Dark tinge in the man’s heart causing it... But perhaps it was just the world fighting back. It was being taking out of a cycle it’d been a part of so long, it was only natural for it to feel like it was being drawn into something bad. If it was the heart of the world... It had to have feelings, right? When the keyhole faded and the Masked Man began to speak, Cloud turned to look at him as he continued to ramble on. What he said made sense to Cloud’s assumption of the world’s having feeling. Perhaps Gaia’s wasn’t the only one that could experience pain, as different as the spirits of each world were. He told Cloud to come back here when he made a decision, and Cloud nodded. If he was still alive, he’d decide to join the Masked Man. It just depended on what went through the blond’s head over the course of the next few days. The Masked Man started to walk away, causing Cloud to turn towards the exit and take a few steps only to stop when the Masked Man spoke again. “Oh, I nearly forgot, I suppose you won’t be joining me for my other endeavor, will you?”“Tch, Not interested.” Cloud replied, promptly leaving the room. A smirk grew underneath the mask of the cloaked figure at the expected response. “I thought not. Till next time, Cloud.”When he made it back to the main door of the castle he stopped, shocked as just how different the world looked. A blue green sky, silver water, red grass... It didn’t matter, the world would adjust back to where it belonged in time. For now, he had more important things to do. After heading down the path, he jumped onto Fenrir, and with a roar of its engine he was gone just as quickly as he'd arrived. To Disney Castle. Cloud Has Left The Thread ------------------------------ OOC: Cloud was defeated by the Masked Man’s words, and has been convinced to abandon the Light.
