Before Sephiroth replied, Zack replied to Xaldin. [blue]”Let’s just say that given past…circumstances and what not, he’d impale me, again, if given half a chance. We weren’t always on bad terms though, y’know,”[/blue] the pup didn’t say much more than that to Xaldin, knowing that it wasn’t exactly Sir Medusa’s right to know everything that happened in Nibelheim in that accursed Mako reactor. The raven-head still had scars, internally, externally, mentally, and emotionally from that incident, although he would never let anyone aside from Cloud know this. Not all the pain had been Sephiroth’s doing…no, all the pain had been his doing. Tifa had told him straight up that she hated Sephiroth, Shinra, mako, SOLDIER, and everything in that area, because Sephiroth had killed her father, and she had not succeeded in returning the favor to the insane momma’s boy. Even if she *had* succeeded, however, she still would more than likely be full of hate and anger, and she may well have been the one who went berserk, instead of the silver-haired one winged angel.

Sephiroth was about to answer Xaldin's question when Zack spoke up again with his own response.
The look he gave the Nobody would easy be read to say something like 'that's about the size of it' though there was a hint there of something else when he looked at Zack.. memories.. a touch of sadness.
Sephiroth knew Zack thought he knew everything that had happened, but that wasn't the entire truth.. something Sephiroth himself had never had the chance to tell anyone, though he tried once before to tell Cloud, the blond boy wouldn't listen to him and thought it was all another 'trick' of the angel.

Xaldin could not help the chuckle that he let out. Zack was a funny, though he could understand the hesitation about being with Sephitoth after being impaled… he himself had issues with the current arrangement he found himself in being as Mickey helped to kill him off.
“Well Zack, are you that egger to get out of here and leave his side?” he smirked, “you never know what might happen if you try and work though things. I am currently working with the one who helped to kill me.” He shrugged, “stranger things have happened then forgiveness”

When Xaldin let out a chuckle, Zack cocked his head to one side, and gave him a slightly confused look, before un-tilting it. This snake haired guy with the funky facial hair didn’t seem to be one who laughed very often, if ever, and it was a little odd to hear him laugh when he did, even if it was just a mere chuckle. Either way, it was nice to know that he hadn’t lost his sense of humor while he was, well, dead. He knew for sure that he hadn’t lost all feeling, as he’d wanted to beat Cloud with a stick for some time now, but he wasn’t entirely sure about his humor. That is, until now, of course. Some things seemed to never change. Sephiroth thought he talked too much, and people still thought he was funny. Okay, great, what next? Angeal’s revival or something?
[purple]“Well Zack, are you that egger to get out of here and leave his side? You never know what might happen if you try and work though things. I am currently working with the one who helped to kill me. Stranger things have happened then forgiveness.”[/purple]
Until the black cloaked male had brought that up, yeah, Zack had been eager to get out of here and away from the silver haired demon with the insanely long Masamune. Now that it was brought up, maybe it wouldn’t hurt too much if he tried to reconcile a bit with his former friend. After all, if Xaldin was working with one who had killed him in the past, he may as well give this a shot. [blue]“Well, about the only thing stranger I can think of is being brought back from the dead. Though, I do suppose that I can *try* working with him again. However, if I get impaled, you’re paying the medical bill!”[/blue] Zack stated, glancing sideways at Sephiroth to see his reaction, if he gave any at all.

"Trust me, Zack, if I wanted you dead you wouldn't be here still." Sephiroth said simply.
"Xaldin, is it?" He turned his attention to the Nobody once more. "You said you are helping one of those who helped to kill you. Would you like to share as to why you'd do such a thing?"

Xaldin could not stop himself from rolling his eyes… if Zack was impaled Sephiroth seemed to be the type who would go for the kill and not leave medical bills.
Xaldin raised his eyebrow when Sepiroth said that Zack would be dead. It made him wonder just how much power this guy had as well as what side he was on. It seemed he did not hold ill will persay.. but Xaldin knew better to judge people from what they show to what they are thinking.
“There is a way brewing,” he stated, “and you can say it is survival of the fittest… one reason is that I aligned myself with the fittest side.” Xaldin also did not want to go into detail of all his reasons with either of these two. He did not know them well enough nor were they in the organization to be told either way

"Trust me, Zack, if I wanted you dead you wouldn't be here still."
Zack rolled his eyes at this comment. Sephiroth wanted him dead when he stole Jenova's head, how well had that worked out? Sure he and Cloud both ended up with pretty bad wounds and under Hojo's grasp for four years afterwards, but in the end, wasn't it Sephiroth who kept getting himself defeated repeatedly? In the end, it was a mass of 500+ Shinra soldiers that ended up taking Zack down, now wasn't it? They had guns and fired continuously from a distance that Zack couldn't easily cover in two seconds, but he had held his own throughout that morning and into the afternoon/evening when he finally collapsed from a combination of exhaustion, blood loss, and a number of bullet wounds, some of which hit vital internal organs of his. Even then, after he collapsed, he had remained alive long enough to pass his sword and life onto Cloud before finally collapsing. If that wasn't strength, he didn't know what was. Now, it looked like he was even a bit stronger than he was before, so he wouldn't die easily.
[purple]“There is a way brewing, and you can say it is survival of the fittest… one reason is that I aligned myself with the fittest side.”[/purple]
That's always what life seemed to be like. The survival of the fittest, the strong overpowering the weak. It made Zack sick. Was there no sympathy for the weak anymore? He knew that Shinra didn't give a rip when it was still a friggin' world power on Gaia. The raven head sighed. Of course, when it came to war, you had to make wise choices regarding the sides you aligned yourself with. Zack preferred to stay neutral, unless it was made clear which side was morally right. He didn't care about which side was 'fittest' anymore, even if the side he chose was the weaker of the two, if he chose sides, he would still fight to the death for that side. However, thus far, he couldn't tell which side was which or whose side was whose. He sighed and rubbed the back of his head with his gloved hand. Life was so complicated and confusing...

Sephiroth nodded in thought. "A war you say, I suppose it is one of those that will effect everyone and we must pick a side?" He lifted an eyebrow slightly.
He was tired of war. Ever since Wutai it seemed to the silver-haired angel that he'd been fighting nonstop in neverending battles of one or the other. "No rest for the wicked, I guess."

Xaldin shrugged, “that is how it was told to us. So that is what we did, picked a side and pray it is the right one.” He said while looking at sephiroth. He could not help but wonder what side this man would chose. He was strong and powerful and could be a tipping scale to either side.
He turned to Zack, “you sure are quiet? Something I say bother you?” he thought it was strange the one who seemed like he would never be silent was now not talking. Was he letting the ‘big boys’ decide what was to be done? Or was he really thinking about it hard? It seemed that his connection to Sephiroth could lead him to be another lose cannon in the war

The young raven-head hardly heard what had been spoken, that is, until Xaldin had directed a question at him. The whole survival of the fittest thing was still grating at him. So, was he not 'fit' merely because he'd been shot down by a massive army of Shinra soldiers, even though he'd taken down most of them by the time his strength had failed him and he'd lost too much blood? For some reason, Zack just refused to believe that to be the case. He was strong, not the strongest, sure, but he was still strong. It was his morals and emotions that hindered him more than much else, sadly.
[purple]“You sure are quiet? Something I say bother you?”[/purple]
Zack looked over at Xaldin and shrugged. [blue]"Just the survival of the fittest comment that you made. It's not too bad, really, it's just that it's kinda tweaked a nerve. One of the curses of being me, I guess,"[/blue] he shrugged, this was a war, sadly the 'fittest' side usually won, though there were oddball cases, [blue]"I'll get over it. After all, this is gonna be war, if what you're saying is true."[/blue]

"Zack," Sephiroth looked down at the boy with the faintest of smiles, "do not doubt your strength, you were taught better than that."
He looked at Xaldin again, seriously. "I will have to reserve my judgement on which side to choose in this war until I learn further details. I'm sure you understand."

Xaldin gave Zack a good hard look. The other seemed to finally come of his, for lack of a better term, high and was seeing the world in a different light. If this happened often or not Xaldin did not know, “From what I was told yes, there will be a war. Or at least the wheels are set. Though when the wheels of war start it is hard to stop them.” He shrugged and turned to Sephrioth, “As expected. It is needed to look at the different sides before you chose one.”

Zack grinned when Sephiroth half complimented him. Well, that was hard to come by nowadays! It was nice to see a bit of the old Sephiroth appear. Though, the answer that he gave socked the former SOLDIER. He would have thought that Sephiroth would choose the dark flat out. Well then, he still had tricks up his sleeves. His gaze then shifted to the Medusa Man. So, things hadn't yet started turning? This was good news. It was good news indeed. He wouldn't have to pick a side yet, if any. [blue]"So, when's this war supposed to start?"[/blue] He asked, for lack of a better question or statement.

Sephiroth nodded in agreement with Xaldin's words and sighed softly before turning his back on the two ravenhaired men. "Zack," he glanced over his shoulder at the boy as his one wing flexed out slightly, "[/color]I'm leaving this area now, if you wish to come with me, or just hitch a ride, you should make up your mind now.[/color]"

Xaldin did not answer Zack’s question, but mostly because he did not have or know an answer. One never knows when a war will start but knows when it is there. Then there is the choice of fight or run.
Xaldin gave a small bow at Sephioroth and Zack. “I believe it is time to take my leave as well. I have spent to much time here and I am due somewhere else.” He would take Zack somewhere if the other chose not to go with the silver-haired man, though in all honesty he hoped he would not have to. It was better if he left as soon as possible with who waited for him
