Tifa was quick to think as she was flying through the air like this, she had to be quick on her feet. She was known for having good aim with her punches and kicks as well. After aiming her pounch she felt it hit Kadaj in the face. She pushed back with the force, relieved that it had worked. She landed swiftly on her feet sliding back a bit. Her brown eyes focused on Kadaj though and what he was doing next. She assumed that the men behind her would be fine for now, as long as they kept firing thier guns. Thankfully, most of the bullets weren't coming near the female monk though. If one was, she was quick to move out of the way though. The last thing that she needed to worry about was getting shot by someone who was on her side. Much bigger problems were going on then an accidental hit. She watched Kadaj backflip back after the hit to the face. When he landed though he pushed a large cloudof dust blocking her view. Since she was close to him, a good amount went toward her and in her face. She coughed and lowered her head not being able to see what the Remnant was planning.
When most of the dust went away she raised her head toward his direction again. She squinted her eyes though, some of the dust still affecting her vision. She felt heat though. Some sort of burning. It was coming from his general direction so it must be something that Kadaj was cooking up. The next thing she knew, a giant fireball was coming at her quickly. At least she thought that it was. But then it separated into three smaller ones and went right to the men. She whipped her head around wondering how they would be. She knew that Vincent would be able to defend himself against this. He was very powerful and something at that level would probably be quite easy for the ex-Turk to conquer. Tifa watched though as Vincent was hit with the fireball, noticing that his cape was now burnt from catching on fire. Obviously the use of it as a shield hadn't worked out that great for him.
Tifa, was a natural worrier. She worried about her friends and loved ones like crazy. A good portion of that was taken up just by Cloud. She couldn't help but worry for Vincent right now. Sure he was probably okay and would be able to get back up with a new attack, but the worry was still going on in Tifa. "Vincent! Are you alrig-" Tifa began until she got cut off with a punch right to the face. She had been taken completely off guard due to her worrying for Vincent. A big flaw in her personality was her worrying so much. She drops everything when she sees one of her friends in danger. In this case, she had completely forgotten about what she had begun with Kadaj because she was too busy worry about Vincent. And it ended badly for her.
She flew back from the punch, not being able to land. She rolled down clutching onto her cheek. She felt some blood coming out from it. She touched it gently with her gloved hand and looked to see the red liquid on it. She got back up to her feet though, not being hurt too bad. At least not enough to keep her down. Kadaj matched her strength with the punch that she had done to him. They both managed to take eachother off guard. Tifa at this point though, was getting angrier and angrier with the remnant. He was hurting her and her friend. She'd even be mad if Rufus or Tseng got hurt at this point, mainly because they had been former enemies. Tifa let out the slightest growl not being able to take it anymore. She didn't really think of anyway to sneak up just having too much inner rage within her. And the rage was beating reasoning and thinking things out, by a long shot.
The monk began running right toward Kadaj not even taking notice of what other attacks the men might be doing behind her. She had obvious anger in her face not showing any signs of fear anymore. Once in a good distance she jumped up giving him a hard kick right on his lower chin. After aiming with her legs she backflipped backwards. She had done this same move on his brother, Loz, when she had faught him back in the church. The attack could be easily backfired on Tifa, if he was quick enough to grab her leg. But she was just acting on her instinct due to her anger. And maybe all of this anger would work out for her.

'It's fine. Don't worry about it too much.' Tseng was a little surprised by this. How could he not be mad that he was almost attacked and harmed by Kadaj and none of his Turks had been there! Did that make sense at all? No, it didn't. He'd need to ask Rufus some questions after, that hopefully were responded to. Why was he here with Valentine and Lockhart? 'Is this all you've got, Mr. President?! I thought your Turks were professionals, at least TRY and hit me!!' A taunt also followed He knew the President wouldn't fall low enough to actually take it personally. Though, Tseng actually felt a bit of a temper flair in the back of his mind. He was supposed to be able to fight well enough to protect the President. He managed to get taken hostage with Elena. He really couldn't protect as well as he hoped. But he'd worked harder after that. He wasn't going to fail now, Vincent saved Elena and himself. That was not going to be wasted! A smirk hit the Turk's face when Tifa's punch nailed the Remnant square in the face. It was impressive, especially since it knocked the Remnant back and caught him off guard. Though, the sand it kicked up completely clouded his view of the Remnant. This was not good at all. Tseng now stepped fully in-front of Rufus in case anything happened next that he couldn't see. It was like he knew it was going to happen. With a wince, he took the full heat of that blow with a short yell at the pain. Thankfully he had moved or he'd of been hit as well as Rufus. But he was fine, a hand shifted to his right arm, where he'd taken most of the hit. But, he calmly activated cure to heal some of the damage. It took away some of the pain, enough for him to be able to use his gun arm again. He glanced back at the President to check him over. He seemed completely uninjured. Good. Tseng probably would have healed Tifa if she hadn't been moving too fast, and he didn't want to take the chance of healing Kadaj. So he'd need to wait. He also checked or at Vincent, good, he was fine too. Now, to go back to the seriousness of the battle. It was time to pull in the bit of materia he had, which happened to be Earth and Cure. Though, with Tifa that close, he had to halt his gunfire and magic. Damn. What was she doing!? The expression showed his dislike of how close she was to Kadaj.

'Is this all you've got, Mr. President?!' Rufus didn't seem the lightest bit phased. Instead, he continued his fire power. 'I thought your Turks were professionals, at least TRY and hit me!!' Hm, Tseng was doing a good enough job with this. He was not hired to kill Kadaj. Kadaj had no clue what he was talking about. Though, the gun shots did completely distract Kadaj for Tifa's hit to knock the remnant back. When Tifa had gotten close, Rufus had stopped firing, not wanting to hit her. The dust cloud was quickly kicked up afterward. Though, he was unaware of any danger until it hit Tseng and went past him on his right. But before he could react with anything, Tseng healed himself, checked on him, then the other two. Meanwhile, Tifa had been punched in the face. This was not good. It seemed Kadaj had pulled back threw, Tifa was too close for any safe shots from this angle. He couldn't help this round. "Damn..."

This was certainly very entertaining to say the least. Having only expected to have gotten Rufus and left this place by now already, he instead wound up fighting Vincent, Tifa and Tseng as well. It wasn't planned to say the least, but it was definitely much more fun to fight with the odds stacked against you in any case. Or so Kadaj thought anyway. And so far, things seemed to be going alright. Sure he took a heavy blow from Tifa, but managed to counter attack that within a few seconds and blast Vincent and Tseng with one of his spells. Typical, he managed to hit everyone except the one person he was actually after. Well, it was time to change that. Who cares what Vincent and Tifa thought of Rufus? Should memory serve, AVALANCHE had their own feud against the Ex-President of Shin-Ra before the whole Geostigma issue came into play. Did they both actually believe they'd get someone out of allying with him, other then a dose of Mako, the re-stabilization of Shin-Ra and maybe a firm hand shake off Rufus? What did he care about? Why was he still alive? Surely the devastating attack from Diamond WEAPON should have finished him off in the past... not that Kadaj actually knew about that.
Besides, things were happening to fast to stop and think about things. Kadaj blinked quickly as he noticed Tifa fall hard, but quickly get back up and rush towards him again. Tseng had got hit by one of his fireballs, but also had got back to his feet and cured himself after acting as a meatshield for the President. Pity really... would have been great to have heard a yelp of pain coming from Rufus instead of Tseng. But with those three all in the same general direction, the two gunmen behind Tifa sounded like they both had to stop firing due to Tifa being within their sights. No complaints from the Remnant there, but there was gunfire coming from another direction.
The dust cloud had vanished completely now, and the silver-haired Remnant was now able to see Vincent off to his left, who was circling around trying to flank him, firing bullets all the while. There was still a chance the crimson cloaked male could hit Tifa, but they obviously had a much greater sence of trust within one another, compared to that of the Turk and President. Time to act! Kadaj whirled around on his heels, which sunk into the sand slightly and lifted up his Souba, slashing it before himself a few times as he heard the 'ping' of bullets bouncing off the metal blade. Vincent was much more accurate then the others with his gun... was that a personal issue he had against the Remnant, or was he just not messing around? Vincent was always such a hard person to read, expression-wise anyway, but there was usually a clue to be found within his heart... when the silver-haired Remnant actually had the time to concentrate and feel it. Which wasn't now. Knowing that Tseng and Rufus were unable to shoot for a few more seconds, Kadaj used his ears to listen for Tifa getting closer.
As Vincent shot more bullets towards him, Kadaj did his best to reflect some of them straight back at him but after slashing his weapon upwards to knock a bullet back, a second whizzed past and got burried into the upper arm of his right arm. Kadaj did his best to stop himself from yelping out, and merely gritted his teeth together tightly as his brow tightened heavily. There was no time to waste playing with Vincent, Tifa and Tseng... and with them now on either side of him, keeping a clear eye on everyone's position was going to become a lot harder. Time to get everyone in his sights once again. Before that thought, Kadaj made a final attempt to knock a bullet back at Vincent. A shot came in, and the Remnant raised up his weapon, 'catching' the bullet as it zipped down between the middle of the twin katana styled blades. Flicking his wrist up, Kadaj swung the weapon quickly around his head, using the momentum to 'slingshot' the bullet straight back at Vincent, aiming for his weapon to try and disable it, or at least to knock it out his hands.
With that done, Kadaj let out a smirk as he waited to see what would happen to that bullet, but only a second later, everything went black. He had completely forgotten about Tifa and her well trained abilities in martial arts seemed not to be lacking in the slightest. A hard kick connected with the back of his head and the silver-haired Remnant shot through the air towards Vincent, body limp. Before anything else could happen though, a large handful of black feathers appeared from Kadaj and gently fell down onto the sand. Kadaj himself had vanished once more, which means he had used his teleportation ability once again. But where was he this time?

Curving bullets shot towards Kadaj as Vincent shifted his crimson eyes onto Tifa, hearing the sound of her distracted by calling out for him before she got hit back by Kadaj, even though it was still with his fist which was not as fatal as his double-bladed katana it looked like it caused Tifa a lot of pain. Vincent felt a gut instinct in his heart to call out to Tifa in shock, but instead was trained to force himself to bury it deep inside, and not make the same mistake as the female monk had by letting emotion distract her from the battle. Instead he forced himself to watch Kadaj, also ignoring Shinra and Tseng for the time being, waiting to react to the next situation he found himself in. Getting burned by a fire spell had not been fun, and while the battle damage still hadn't put him off from continuing the fight, it didn't hurt as much as seeing Tifa suffer in pain. But the look did not register on Vincent's face, as he knew Tifa was tougher than that and would tend to her later, for now he needed to think clearly and let action speak for him,
He was right, as Tifa rolled instead of landing, but she got back up her feet which Vincent had hoped. He saw her move out of the corner of his red eyes, their intense look focused on the Remnant before him as his bullets flew for him. Just as he had anticipated, Kadaj raised his sword in defense against his volley of incoming ammo, having to use his sword to block the long-range hit instead of having to use it on Tifa, which gave her a distinct advantage to move in while he was doing so. Vincent had watched most of the fight of Cloud versus the Remnants in the Forgotten City, and Kadaj's brothers fought close-knit together in the same way he and Tifa did, Vincent in Yazoo's place assaulting Kadaj with his bullets while Tifa in Loz's place moved in close-range to take advantage of her fists and legs. Of course, as close as Yazoo and Loz worked in co-operation as he and Tifa did, they didn't nearly have as much experience as the AVALANCHE members did, as they had journied together for so long they had gotten to know each other well enough to explicitly trust each other. To place more faith in one another with more risks, using their silent means of communication which only came from years of working around each other, forged from solid teamwork and experience in a range of battlefields.
The projectiles finally made contact with the silver-haired menace, and Kadaj tried to reflect them back at him, but he already had his gauntlet up from before to defend himself with whenever a stray bullet ricocheted his direction. What came next, however, was Kadaj trying to slingshot the last bullet back at him. Vincent caught the movement of the lone bullet being flung back at him in a slower acceleration, but the prehistoric method that was almost near-impossible by any other means forced Vincent to raise his gun up in defense to protect his shooting hand. As a result, the bullet pinged off the heavy metal of his tri-gun Cerberus, the force ripping it out of Vincent's hand and flipping it to land onto the sand behind him. Almost immediately with the natural and profession grace Vincent always seemingly possessed, he did a back flip and landed on his hands in mid-air, grabbing Cerberus as he landed again on his feet and redrew his weapon. He reloaded his gun in a heartbeat and as natural as blinking an eye, checking to see that the gun wasn't badly damaged, but the maneuver had cost Vincent some precious seconds.
However, it seemed those same precious seconds had cost Kadaj his defense, as Tifa's flipping kick hit it's mark. The larval form of Sephiroth came flying towards him limply, and Vincent could only guess that the battle could be over now that Tifa had knocked him out cold. Which would have been a welcome relief, really, as Kadaj was a violent, cunning youth who never saw to reason and could only resolve things with violence to get across his viewpoints. Vincent respected this cunning, but he himself would have tried to knock Kadaj out without killing him to resolve this, or tried to force the Remnant out of his will to fight an outnumbered battle. There would be no changing the youth's mind once it had been made up, and once Rufus and his Turk had gotten to safety, Vincent could be able to deposit Kadaj's body in a safe place before moving away with Tifa to tend to her wounds.
But of course, the battle wouldn't end that easily, and within seconds Kadaj disappeared in a flurry of black feathers. Just like he had done with his new teleporting trick which he had used with Draw Slash afterward, Kadaj was on the move, but this time out of the will to survive. Vincent was not, however, going to wait around like a sitting duck. From the damage he had received from the fire spell, he folded his cape over himself, until his humanoid body vanished into the folds. Leaving behind his cape as a living Crimson Phantom as Kadaj had witnessed once before, it folded upon itself and leaped up into the air in a bolt of red, unfurling itself in a void of tattered bloody fabric as it hovered directly over Tifa. Like a guardian demon, he would not only be impervious to bullets or Kadaj's sword attacks for a short while if he reappeared with another assault, but he would also be able to quickly race over to shield anyone in the relative safety of his crimson fabric should they need it.
Where Kadaj would appear next was anyone's guess, but Vincent suspected himself since Kadaj had fallen in his direction, but he would be ready for him this time until his form ran out of energy.

Tifa was unaware that she had been in the way for the gunners to aim at Kadaj. She wasn't even thinking about anyone except her and Kadaj. Her thoughts focused on how much she wanted to kick him square in the face and just bring an end to this. Tifa often knew better then to rush in. She was always one to think things through and plan it out. She had been taught that during her martial arts training many years ago. Her teacher had been a very wise man and he focused his attention on making Tifa a strong fighter. She had shown potential. She wasn't going to let him down. She had worked hard to put herself on the map and show just who Tifa Lockhart was. Why she was doing this. Not just because of the evil in the world. She wanted to prove things to other people. And make them proud of her.
Her teacher was obviously an important person. Zangan. She wanted to show him that all that he taught her hadn't been wasted. He taught her how to be a monk fighter, and she was forever grateful to him for that. Her father. He had been killed during Sephiroth's raid of Nibelheim. Tifa had always loved her father even if she disagreed with some of his decisions. She would never forgive Sephiroth for what he had done with taking her father's life. Never. He would never be able to come back. Never watch his daughter grow, and get stronger each and every day. All because of Sephiroth. She wanted her father to still be proud. She had seen him die. She would live on for him. And make him proud to call Tifa his daughter.
She also oddly enough wanted to make Cloud proud of her and who she was. Cloud was a very important person to her. Her thoughts often went on the ex-SOLDIER worrying if he was alright and if he was doing okay. He had made the agreement to protect her, several years ago. But...what if she wanted to be able to protect him also. What if he ever needed someone to come. Would Tifa be able to be strong enough to help her oldest friend? She hoped so. Tifa also had a lot to prove to herself. She wanted to know her true strength and her true potential. And she didn't want to be viewed as weak just because of who she was, or how she may fight. That wasn't a fair way to judge someone. And even the thought of it, upset her. It really did take a lot to make Tifa mad. But when she reached her boiling point, there was no stopping her from going into full on rage. And right now...she was past that point. Way past that point.
She had just become fierce after he had hit her. She wasn't even looking at Vincent or the others. Her care for Vincent had proved to be a flaw. She had been too concerned with him being alright, that she hadn't been able to block Kadaj's own punch against her. And that proved to be a bad idea. Tifa knew that she had to break away from her usual nature of caring and worrying. It was time for battle. If anyone was hurt...it would have to wait until after Kadah was out of the picture. The monk had enough with te Remnant. She wasn't going to back down until her and the others took him down. And she didn't even care how long it would take or how hurt she might get. It was time to fight. And fight for what was right.
Tifa was quite satisfied when her kick had proved to work. She had put so much force and power into it, just aiming at his neck. She was imagining the thought of snapping it, but that hadn't happened. It did give her more motivation with what she was doing though. She landed crouched on the ground, her expression serious and showing her motivation. She watched the Remnant fly off into the distance. Where was he going to land? Her brown eyes focused on the Remnant clad in black and just as he was about to take a rough fall, he disappeared. Tifa blinked. This wasn't over yet. He was going to regain stamina and strength. He wouldn't let it be the end because of a simple kick to the neck that Tifa had done. She knew the Remnant all too well. He didn't make it an easy battle for Cloud. Why should he make it any easier for the four of them?
Time seemed to be passing slowly. As Tifa stood, she felt pain coming over her body. Her wounds were starting to ache. She hadn't been focusing on them due to the fact that she had been so caught up in the fight. She figured that worrying over cuts and bruises would best be suited for later. She clung onto her left arm with her right. It felt so sore. Almost as if it was just dangling there, dead. She noticed her arms were covered with black and blue bruises. On her cheek, a small amount of blood was still present from where she had gotten punched. It wasn't gushing though. It only stung ever so slightly. Despite her whole body being overwhelmed with pain, she rose from her crouched position, still clinging onto her weak arm. She looked around. Rufus was still present. She passed her eyes on the next figure of Tseng. And when she turned her head one of them was missing. She blinked. Vincent! Was he okay? Had he gotten hurt? She hadn't even been aware of what happened to the others while she had been fighting. Just as she started to panic she looked up and saw him hovering right above her.
"Vincent..." She whispered quietly.

Tseng felt a slight hint of amusement from the fact Rufus couldn't fight at the moment. The President really had been acting differently the past few months that he had seen. It was a pleasant change. But there was a fight currently and the Turk refused to become distracted. So, he continued his gun fire, avoiding Lockhart.
The battle was cut short after Tifa manged to hit the remnant. Sadly, Kadaj made a disappearing act. The Turk didn't feel completely safe, so he kept close to the President, just in case. Though, he noticed that Lockhart and Valentine were rather badly injured. He supposed he had to thank them for helping, but he didn't understand why yet. Rufus would probably clear this up later.
Tseng calmly pulled the cure materia out of his weapon again and carefully handed it toward Tifa. "Lockhart." It would be better if the two Avalanche cured themselves instead of Tseng doing it.
His eyes shifted toward Rufus with curious eyes. He wanted an explanation. The President should be able to figure that out on his own.

The battle continued to wage as he stood there, unable to help. At least Tseng was being of use to Avalanche. In all truth, Rufus wasn't sure he'd of stepped in if Kadaj had been after Tifa originally. Thankfully, that didn't happen or else the lines would have been strained. Why did Tifa and Vincent actually agree to this verbal truce? Kadaj was right in his thinking. What'd they want? Surely both members here would blow a fuse if they found out that the company had started up once more. Though, ShinRa had agreed to let Reeve keep an eye in the company to make sure they weren't using mako.
Reeve was the only person that Rufus trusted enough to agree. That was why Rufus was funding WRO. He knew Reeve had enough sense to manage what needed to be done. Well, It had probably been for the best. He still needed to inform Tseng of the truce.
Rufus was pulled out of his little daydream as Kadaj disappeared again after a hard hit from Lockhart. Impressive really. Rufus was glad Tifa wasn't out to kill him. Vincent changed back, Tifa looked rather beat up, and Tseng still had evidence from the attack on his jacket. Rufus probably looked equally as bad with his now bruised nose. But yes, the battle seemed to be over. This was good news.
After Tseng handed the cure materia over to Tifa, he looked at Rufus. Rufus knew that gaze too well. With a sigh, he crossed his arms. "You're the only Turk I haven't had a chance to inform. We are currently at a truce with Avalanche, since Sephiroth and the like are alive once more." He made the comment short and sweet, but he was sure Tseng would agree to this.

A chance to take a quick breather was very much appreciated. Tifa was being a right pain at the moment... of all people in the battle, how come it had to be her who managed to get in both the strongest attacks? Well, that wasn't necessarily true to a fault. Even though the battle was four against one, the silver-haired Remnant had himself managed to cause damage to Vincent, Tifa and Tseng. Sadly, all of them being not the true target. Rufus needed to be dealt with. Kill him and Shin-Ra will fall, the Turks too. That'll be one less pest out the way and revenge against the President for what he did to Mother and his brothers. Two birds with one stone... or Souba. That decided it then. Take out Rufus and the rest will fall in due time. AVALANCHE were a different matter but they would be dealt with soon enough as well, thanks to other matters going on around the worlds at the moment in time. A change was coming and Kadaj could feel it.
It was amusing how all but Rufus seemed to know that the battle was far from over, but the four of them did seem to lower their guard by the smallest amount. That was enough for the silver-haired Remnant to take advantage though. Kadaj was battle experienced and was intelligent enough to back it up. Tifa and Vincent both seemed hurt still and from the looks of things, Tseng was ready to hand over his Cure Materia to Tifa so she could use it on herself and her AVALANCHE buddy.
First mistake right there.
Kadaj suddenly reappeared right between Tseng and Tifa, a small cloud of black feathers coming between the Turk and Monk as he teleported back into battle. With luck, the feathers would momentarily 'blind' Tseng and Tifa from seeing one another while Kadaj himself made his next move. A smirk spread across his face as he instantly shot out his Souba towards Tseng's face aiming at his cheek to cause only a minor cut and nothing deadly. Merely a distraction. In the same second, one of his legs shot out behind him and aimed a heavy blow towards Tifa's stomach, hopefully winding her enough to keep her out of action for a couple of seconds. That was all Kadaj needed. A couple of seconds. Yet the silver-haired Remnant didn't care if his kick or sword attack hit as his true objective now was to snatch the Cure Materia from Tseng's hand before he managed to give it to Tifa. The annoying Turk had already used it on the President and once was going to be enough!
With luck, Kadaj smirked and instantly dove to one side, feeling the Cure Materia within his hand after a successful steel from Tseng. A mocking smirk zipped across Kadaj's lips as he glared over at Tseng, raising his gloved hand before him, holding the Materia, and wagging his finger at the Turk. "That was stupid. You should have just cast the spell instead." Kadaj said as his light chuckle could be heard leaving his throat. But enough time had already been wasted. Within an instant, Kadaj was already dashing off directly towards Rufus. He was fast!! Looks like Kadaj wasn't playing around anymore as he zipped across the beach, straight for Rufus. Watching the President only, Kadaj's Souba was held before him ready to try and block and deflect any bullets that left Rufus' gun. It was time to end this once and for all and if Kadaj's calculations were correct, he'd have hopefully taken the four of them by surprise.

(OOC: Kadaj, did you get approval or consent from Tseng that you could successfully steal the Cure materia? If not, and Tseng is not happy with that, you might have to re-post.)
As Tifa whispered his name, the crimson vortex of cloth hovered above her, watching over her and the others with silent vigil. Kadaj was about to appear at any moment, and Vincent still was ready and had his guard up for the Remnant, even if the others had let their guard down. He trusted Kadaj would not leave the battle so quickly unless he got what he wanted, and that was Rufus. Even outnumbered, he was going to keep pursuing the ex-president until either he was beaten or Rufus was dead. And the latter Vincent would not allow to happen, even if he was no longer a Turk, he could not allow a life to be taken so easily. He listened as Shinra spoke to Tseng about their alliance, while Tseng kindly handed Tifa a Cure materia, and Vincent knew they were not ready for what was about to come.
And he was right, as expected.
Kadaj teleported right between the two of them, attempting to make a grab for the cure materia. Vincent couldn't see if he successfully did within all the feathers, as the moment they appeared shots rang out from within the depths of the cape, carefully making accurate pot-shots between the two aimed for Kadaj. A slash was made at Tseng and a kick aimed at Tifa's stomach, and Vincent new it would be impossible for Kadaj to have dodged the three bullets he had shot at the Remnant's waist and legs, in a attempt to slow him down. Then once again Kadaj was off, sprinting towards Rufus. It was fortunate Vincent had changed into his Crimson Phantom form, for it's speed was faster than the normal humans on the ground, and perhaps matching Kadaj's. In any case, he overtook him in a leap and a bound, landing in front of Rufus, and any shotgun shells he had shot within the short time frame at the Remnant would have been absorbed or possibly shot straight through the tattered fabric of the ghost he now was - it depended on how good a shot Rufus was and how fast Kadaj could block any bullet he could see passing through the crimson cloth.
As soon as Rufus would stop firing, forcing him to back off and move around Vincent if he wanted to get a shot in, Vincent turned back into himself and leveled his tri-gun Cerbersus straight at Kadaj at what now would be point-blank range. Although, if Shinra was smart, he would use Valentine as a shield, which the ex-Turk was attempting to do to force Kadaj into facing him. Instead of firing though, Vincent made a quick one-two-three combo, hitting him first with the durable frame of his Cerberus gun that was strong enough to have blocked Weiss's Heaven and Earth gunblades. Trusting Kadaj would use his sword to block that blow first, the second blow followed up with a upwards slash with his golden claw to land a hit on his leather-clad chest, and then pushed down with Cerberus to fire a point-blank shot next to Kadaj's face that would be close enough to leave a shallow gash on his cheek.
It was a warning shot if anything, to show that he was serious, as he was just getting started. The fire had burned at his cloak, but left only burns on his body, damage that would only make him stronger rather than hinder him. He had endured worse before, and wasn't about to give up just yet either. Not until Kadaj gave up or he'd knock him out, or even send him back to the darkness of the Lifestream if it came to it. He wasn't invincible, but he was very, very far from a pushover, either. Remaining as cold and silent as ever, Vincent thrust up his golden gauntlet on his arm in defense as he fired the shot, moving in the pressure of battle as he waited for Kadaj to make his next move.

Tifa stood, wrapping her arm around the other. The one that she had thrown her punches with. Not only had she thrown her punches with this arm, but she had also landed on this arm during her fall. A few bruises were covering her arms now. Nothing to serious but it did weaken her a bit. She felt a bit weakened all around honestly. And she wasn't sure how much more she would be able to take of a future battle. She knew Kadaj wasn't going to through in the towel just yet. No. That wouldn't be him at all. He wouldn't admit defeat to them so easily. He was probably trying to regain some stamina and then come out of somewhere to do a sneak attack or something. Something to throw them all off guard. All that they could do right now is wait and try to rebuild strength. Tifa looked up to Vincent as he was floating above her. She felt much safer with him being up there. Like he was looking after her. Tifa smiled very lightly as she looked up at him.
Tifa heard Tseng say her name and throw the cure materia in her direction. Tifa was a bit confused as she hadn't been expecting this from Tseng. It was a very kind gesture. He had probably seen her wounds and saw that she did need it. Either way, Tifa was quite grateful. She also heard Rufus explaing to Tseng about the alliance between both AVALANCHE and the Turks. Tifa took a look over at Tseng. So he didn't know about this alliance thing either. Tifa only knew due to Vincent telling her just now. She would probably figure out soon enough though. Odds are she wasn't the only member of AVALANCHE to know of this, aside from Vincent. Just as Tifa was about to catch the cure materia, something got in the way. Black feathers. Blocking her vision. She couldn't see anything. This had to be the doing of Kadaj. It was the way that he teleported. Tifa was growing angry now. What was he up to this time?
Tifa could barely make something out though. A leg coming right at her. It had to be Kadaj. Tifa reacted quickly and she caught the foot, still going back a bit due to how hard he had kicked. It wasn't nearly as bad as if the kick had been a success though. She threw the foot harshly on the ground, in hopes of throwing off his balance. The next thing she saw was the cure materia...in his hands! The materia that had been intended for her. She was mad. But probably not as mad as Tseng, as he was the one who threw it. And on top of that, Kadaj took the liberty of mocking him for his mistake. That would probably have been enough to start the anger in anyone. Tifa did notice that three bullets had been aimed at Kadaj. She looked over to Vincent, knowing that it had to be him that had aimed the bullet.
Within the next moment, Kadaj was off heading straight for the president. Tifa reacted quickly and she started up into a run. Tifa knew that Tseng and Rufus would probably be aiming bullets at Kadaj. And Tifa would probably get in the way if she ran straight right after Kadaj. She noticed Vincent had already started after Kadaj, and his bullets would also be firing. Tifa didn't want to get in the way of the three gunmen anymore so she ran another way. Instead of going straight like Kadaj had, Tifa circled around. It would take her longer but Tifa was fast. A monk had to move quick, as they relied on using their bodies to attack. She knew Vincent would get to Rufus the fastest in his form and Kadaj had started running before her. Tifa just tried to run as fast as she could, not thinking about anything else but getting over to Rufus and Vincent before it was too late for her to do her part.
Tifa saw Vincent go right in front of Rufus and aim all of his bullets at Kadaj. Rufus would probably be shooting as well. Tifa looked over to see that she was running pretty much neck and neck with Kadaj. This part would be tricky. She would have to try and push Kadaj away with a punch or a kick while dodging all of the bullets. Tifa knew Rufus and Vincent both had very good aim. And they wouldn't hit her. It was just the matter of her staying out of the way at the bullets. She looked to Vincent and then to Rufus. Her brown eyes on focused on Kadaj who was getting closer and closer to Rufus and Vincent. It had to be now. Tifa stopped running straight and she focused on going staight at Kadaj. Since she was coming from the side, it might be harder for him to notice her pressence. Which would work better for Tifa.
Tifa watched the bullets carefully in a matter of mere seconds she aimed another hard kick at Kadaj's head. She flipped backwords and landed in her crouched position. If it had been successful, she would have bought more time for the gunmen.

Tseng looked toward Rufus as he spoke. Ah, there was a truce. It was the only thing that made any sense to the Turk. Vincent and Tifa probably would not have been so willing to help if there wasn't a truce. But, what did Avalanche expect in return for ShinRa's cooperation? Did they know Rufus had already started the company once more? These thoughts were cut short but a flurry of feathers. Tseng had to admit, he was caught unaware. Kadaj had managed to recover and rebound faster then the Turk expected. As he had reached to hand Tifa the cure, he had it snatched from his hand faster then even Yuffie could have managed. Tseng leaned away from the blade, yet not enough to get away unsheathed. Kadaj was now standing a bit away, taunting Tseng with the Materia. The Turk had managed to lose one of the few materias he had brought from gaia with him. It was an insult. He should have simply casted the spell. 'That was stupid. You should have just cast the spell instead.' Tseng felt a low growl escape his throat as Kadaj stated the obvious. He kept his hand on his cheek where the gash from the souba was. That's when an eerie revelation hit him. Rufus was not right behind him anymore. It seemed the President had wandered back a bit and Kadaj was headed right for him. Tseng removed his hand from his bloodied cheek to unsheathed his gun. It instantly followed Kadaj with a few shots fired. "SIR!!" -- Was all the warning that Tseng could get Rufus. This was it, he wasn't going to be able to save Rufus this time and it scared him. Thankfully Vincent managed to block Kadaj from his intended target. Tseng let out a sigh of relief before advancing. Thank gaia for this truce! He'd need to thank Valentine for that. Tifa was right with Kadaj too. It seemed she had managed to recover from Kadaj's assault as well and was already preparing her own counter attack. This was turning out to be an interesting battle, yet just as risky. Tseng fired a few bullets at Kadaj and continued to advance toward Rufus and Kadaj.

"That was stupid. You should have just cast the spell instead." "SIR!!" The sudden change in new caused Rufus to look over at the group. This was a sad realization. With a grit of his teeth, Rufus lifted the gun he had yet to put away. Great, he was about to get captured by Kadaj, or worse, killed infront of the group. Poor Tseng would have a heart attack. Rufus managed to fire off two round from the shotgun before he noticed Vincent's red form blocking Kadaj from him. That was rather impressive and unexpected. After a brief moment of Rufus repositioning himself behind Vincent, he sidestepped slightly to be able to shoot around Vincent and at Kadaj. Now he took a moment to look in Tseng's direction. The Turk had this paniced and extremely tense expression. Hm, hopefully Kadaj hadn't given him a heart attack. Though, the cut on the cheek through him off. Wow, he really missed something there. Yet, wasn't Tseng handing Tifa the heal materia? It didn't look like Tifa had gotten it. He looked back at Kadaj. He hoped that Vincent would be able to take the hit and keep Kadaj at bay. It would be a sin for Kadaj to get ahold of Rufus.

There was no time for a single mistake now as that would surely cost everything and most likely result in either serious damage and loosing the fight, or perhaps worse...
The was no time to think about what to do either. Attacks were being launched in every direction with the intended target standing right in the middle of it all. Rufus was the desired target. Everyone else didn't matter, they didn't exist to Kadaj at the moment. All his turquoise eyes could see was the white suit of the ex-president, soon to be covered in the crimson red of blood. But there was something wrong. Everything suddenly started to feel so... close. So compact. As the Remnant's leather boots dung into the sand as he dashed forwards, it wasn't long before the white suited man was covered in a different type of crimson, though it wasn't that of blood or a odd veil-like substance of a certain cloak... but instead the man himself known as Vincent. How did he managed to get in front of the Remnant?! Of course... it must have been the sand having an impact on the Remnant's footwork, causing his speed to take a hit. Vincent on the other hand could just glide through the air with the wind as his drive, thus reaching the president before the Sephiroth-lookalike.
Vincent Valentine... alone he wasn't much to worry about, that was of course unless he transformed into this 'Chaos' creature that the leader of the Remnant's had been hearing rumours about. Sadly he wasn't yet lucky enough to see this creature with his own eyes, but with Tifa, Rufus and Tseng as companions in this battle, the odds of getting to see this creature would be slim. That wasn't important at the moment anyway. With Vincent before him, and his kick to Tifa having missed, the chances of her being right behind him were very high. Especially since he stole the materia from Tseng, intended for her. That was two attacks then... Kadaj could see already that the crimson cloaked man was already throwing the butt of his gun down towards the Remnant's head. Tifa was surely going to be throwing a kick for him as well.. but where at his body, was unknown. Chances were that she'd be aiming for his head as well, since that's were all her previous blows manages to land.
Then there were gunshots. Two came from Rufus before the ex-Turk got in the way and more were heard coming from Tseng's direction. This was certainly a sticky situation to be in then and unfortunately, since Kadaj had just used his teleportation skill to steal the materia from Tseng, he wasn't going to be able to use it again so soon without drastically reducing his own strength. It was make or break. Do or die. One chance to pull this off or everything would have been wasted... again. Rufus had escaped from Kadaj's grasp one too many times now and today, he wasn't going to get away!! He WASN'T!!!! So, Kadaj closed his eyes and took a deep breath as the next few seconds that passed started to feel like long, painful hours. In this very brief moment of peace, Kadaj reopened his eyes to find himself in a different world altogether. It was white in every direction, for as far as the eye could see. Standing before him though wasn't Vincent or Rufus but instead...
"Mother...? You've come to see me again...?" The Remnant asked, his words reaching nobodies ears apart from his own. Lifting up his arm, Kadaj reached forwards in an attempt to touch the figure of the woman before him. With a smile, the silver-haired man nodded his head slightly as he closed his eyes once more, whispering to himself. ~Lend me your strength... Mother...~
In that instant, Kadaj reopened his eyes again to the sound of gunfire. With a loud yell, Kadaj's Souba managed to find the time to slip in before the first two bullets of Rufus' shotgun, blocking them and knocking them away in random directions. Next the butt of Vincent's gun came crashing down onto the Remnant's skull. A sickening crack echoed across the beach at the impact which caused the silver-haired man to wince severally as he started to fall forwards. Next, two bullets from Tseng's gun sunk deeply into his left thigh which Kadaj used to his advantage. Though it hurt a lot, the impact from the bullets caused Kadaj's leg to shot out behind him, causing the rest of his body to arch around and follow. Lifting his other, unharmed leg off the ground, Kadaj span through the air slightly as he shot out his Souba behind him, aiming as hard a slash as he could to the knee of Tifa's leg which she were using to support her body as she threw the kick. Hopefully Kadaj would have gotten low enough from the gun strike and bullet wounds to dodge her kick.
As he made his attack to Tifa, Kadaj spun himself till he were laying down on the ground, face up, using the speed he had gather from sprinting at Rufus to slide across the sand and straight in between Vincent's legs is a sort of 'baseball sliding tackle' maneuver. Time was of the essence and now with his speed cut down to nothing from taking the gun strike and the two bullets in his leg, Kadaj instantly forced himself up to his feet. Blood trickled down his forehead as his eyes were narrowed so tightly that his pupils were almost unseen. Shouting out once more, blocking out the pain within his skull and leg, Kadaj made another attempt to reach Rufus. All that was in the Remnant's eyes was the President of Shinra. All Kadaj needed to do, was reach this guy and hold him hostage. With any luck, Tifa and Tseng would have to reposition themselves before launching further attacks. All Vincent had to do was turn around, but by time that happened, Kadaj needed to have Rufus in his hands, Souba at his throat.
The President was not defenseless though so all Kadaj could do for now was to lunge at the white-suited man, Souba raised up to try and block any more incoming bullets, whist his free hand, reached out and tried to take hold of the shirt that was worn underneath the long white coat. Kadaj knew that Rufus would slip out of the coat should he manage to take hold of that. No... The shirt was what he needed to grab firmly before dragging the President through a Portal of Darkness.

(OOC: Sorry about the wait! I'm sure everyone can understand why it's taken me so long though since I've been on vacation; and I guess nobody answered my last OOC message, so I'll let it go for now.)
His bullets had not hit their target, even though Vincent had been ready out of everyone for Kadaj to reappear, his accuracy to not hit Tseng or Tifa had cost him the few precious seconds he needed to land a hit on Kadaj. It had not seemed to matter however, as the brunt of Cerberus that was designed to block the Remnant's Souba had instead made a brutal impact on his silvery head when he had been hit by the Shinra force's bullets. The rest of his combo went over Kadaj's head as he ducked to avoid Tifa's blow, and he had used the momentum to counter-attack her with the double-bladed katana and slid towards Vincent. Clever. Vincent stood his ground, but being the nimble character he was did it by jumping in the air backwards, in anticipation that Kadaj would make a similar blow to him that he was was attempting to Tifa.
He did not see if she was hit, as he shot a round that missed the avatar that blew up sand behind him, but he hoped she was alright.
He landed next to Shinra to try and come between him and his pursuer, but it was already too late, as Kadaj already had made an attempt to block his weapon and grab onto him with his Souba at his neck. Sensing Tifa was coming around from an angle to readjust to Kadaj's maneuver and Tseng was still recovering from the Remnant's speed to get a lock on him without hurting Rufus, it was up to him within the next crucial seconds to save the ex-president's life if Kadaj intended to finish him there and now. But Vincent was wise - he hadn't forgotten that darkness users like Kadaj could decide to use a Corridor to Darkness to make a last-second escape, but what mattered in that moment was stopping Kadaj from making an execution and slowing him down so his allies could assist him. His ex-Turk training as a bodyguard kicked in, remembering what he had to do in a hostage situation. This was going to turn ugly rather quickly, whether anyone felt it was necessary or not.
He raised his tri-gun Cerberus leveled at Kadaj, more specifically at the critical muscle of the upper arm that balanced and carried the weight of the lower arm in which Kadaj wielded his Souba. One precise shot was all it took, and the weapon at Shinra's neck would slip away because no more pressure was being applied, and yet this came at the cost that it would also hit Rufus. Any other part of Kadaj he attacked, and it could result in the Remnant flinching and slitting the ex-President's neck. In the deadlock they had now come to, Vincent's low, commanding voice came. "Kadaj. Stop. That is enough. For you, this ends here."
One thing he had learned he had to do in a hostage situation is that add the terrorist with aggression towards him, and it almost always ended with taking the hostage's life - so the only grizzly thing to do to save the hostage, was taking the hostage... out of the equation.
BAM.
A round had been fired, but it had not been at Kadaj. It had been at his true weakness, what he had been targeting all along - Rufus. Vincent had redirected the gun to shoot at Shinra, but it was not a shot aimed to kill or fataly wound. Instead, he had leveled the gun down to shoot the man in the leg, in the muscle of the lower leg where he had been distributing his weight to remain standing up. If Kadaj wanted to kill him there and then, he was going to have to hold up Rufus to stop him from falling as he did so, which would be very difficult for the Remnant who was already standing on a leg injured by bullet rounds. If he wanted to take him through a dark portal so he could kidnap him again and torment him elsewhere, this time he didn't have a wheelchair to move around the man Vincent had just attempted to cripple again.
Maybe Rufus could somehow avoid getting himself caught in Kadaj's grip, and dodge Vincent's bullet, it all depended on Rufus if any of this was necessary. But Vincent had just demonstrated he was not above hurting his allies in order to keep them alive, that he was not soft that they were his weakness but a strength that they could survive because of his actions.
Initially, the surprise that Vincent had just shot who Kadaj had just accepted to be his ally would give enough of a delay if anything for Tifa and Tseng to catch up and fend off the Remnant. Tseng and more so Rufus would not be happy with what he had just did, and Rufus would probably think he had just betrayed him, but after the battle and some belly-aching he knew they would see that it had just saved Rufus's life. Tseng would recognize from his Turk training the maneuver Vincent had done was necessary in this situation, to be cruel to be kind, even if Shinra didn't. Tifa might have questioned Vincent's sudden cruelty, but he was after all a man swathed in his own darkness, and she knew what his background as an ex-Turk was.
He didn't feel like explaining his actions in that moment, being the silent man he was, and instead raised Cerberus back up to Kadaj's arm quickly after that moment he had fired the round that had meant to clip Rufus in the leg and uttered in his deep low tone one powerful demand.
"Leave. Now."
