Tifa Lockhart wandered around the land of Spira while trying to piece out how she had gotten here in the first place. It hadn't been one of those gummi ships or anything controlled. One minute she was getting ready to open the bar back in Midgar and next thing she knew she was in this world...on a beach! She got up from the sand wiping her hands that were now covered with sand. The back of her black outfit was also a bit sandy but the wind would blow it off since a slight breeze was in the air.
The breeze ran through her hair. It felt so good. So natural. Living in a city you didn't really get much fresh air. So it felt nice. It actually made her feel sort of happy. She usually was optimistic and cheery though lately things have been going sort of sour for her. Things were so quiet back in Midgar due to all of her friends going off to these other worlds. The only other one she had been to so far was Hollow Bastion when she was searching for Cloud.
Her thoughts changed to him for a moment. She wondered how he was doing. She hoped that he was in good spirits. She hated to see him all depressed and having no confidence in himself. Sure he would have a lot on him but it isn't to hard to smile. Part of her got mad at thinking about his old behavior. But she shook those thoughts out of her head for now. She walked along the beach wondering if any people were here. It was relatively quiet. She looked up to the sky. Never had she seen such a blue sky. The pollution on Gaia led to it being sort of grey. But this sky was as blue as could be. With puffy white clouds too!
As she continued to walk she lost her path and stepped in some water. Looking surprised by the sudden strange feeling she felt in her shoes. She moved away quickly though the water did feel nice. She was certainly way out of her element on this island.

First Tortuga, now a beach. In the future, he was probably going to end up hating the beach, ships, and water. Yes, he did dislike Costa Del Sol to a point. Yet, there was a very fine line. But as of right this minute, he was getting rather annoyed with the changing of worlds. Tortuga had hit a nerve and he never wanted to go back there again.
At least here he was wearing his suit again and not the pirate gear. There was no dirt smudges on his face anymore and he felt a lot better with the sunlight here. At first the sun did bother his eyes, but now he had gotten a bit more accustomed to it and could see.
As the President glanced around the beach, he noted a figure further down that he couldn't quiet kiss yet. Hopefully it wasn't another heartless. He really was not in the mood to deal with them. If it was a Turk, he'd probably hit them over the head before being thankful he had the help again. Maybe he should give Vincent a call later to report that he hadn't seen anyone lately. That way he could make sure that Vincent was still moving and not keeping things from him.
The last time he had spoken to Vincent was during the meeting with the Restrictor. It did not end well, the restrictor appeared, then left. They had discussed recapturing the Tsviets, which was perfectly fine. But if the Restrictors had full control of the Tsviets, and his father, President Shinra, returned, Rufus would be on the short end of the stick. Avalanche would also feel the repercussions to it. His father would have the Tsviets, Turks, SOLDIER, and anyone else he could chase and kill Avalanche.
True, in a way this was self-preservation. He had some sort of support if anything happened. The enemy of my enemy is my friend. That is a secondary reason for Vincent's proposal back in Traverse Town. If the two worked together, they were sure to have enough information to stop anything that might happen. In a way, Rufus believed Vincent trusted him, at least partially. If Valentine didn't trust him, there was no way the deal would have been made. Hmph.
The last time he had seen Reno was after there...little...disagrement in Agrabah. That's when he found Elena, and the three of them ended up in a small underground lake with a pretty big snake. Heh. They all made it out alive and with all limbs. Hopefully Elena was doing well too. That was the last time he had seen her.
Rude was last seen after their little reunion in Traverse Town where the trio got a little drunk and Reno went down before Rude and himself. Heh. When drunk, Rude speaks other languages. It was humorous since Reno didn't understand a word of it. Sadly, the group had gotten a little banged up just before when they fought a heartless in the shape of armor. He had found out a little and that heartless, like somebodies, adapted into the worlds they entered.
As for Tseng, he hadn't been able to speak with him. But, the last time he saw the Turk was on a rock in the middle of nowhere. Tseng was just out of yelling distance and probably wouldn't of heard Rufus anyway. The President tried to contact them all before the meeting at Healin, but he couldn't reach any of them.
He'd had a run in with Kadaj while with Reno in the Olympic Coliseum. It was a short conflict and didn't end too badly. Reno probably fained a few cuts a bruises. The poor redhead. It sounded like he wanted to go back home so badly. But, Rufus couldn't help him with that. In these worlds, he had no influence over anything. It was a horrible change from back on Gaia. But, he managed so far without dieing. That had to count for something. Plus, he was out of the cursed wheelchair. Maybe he was supposed to be out here to help the cause. Heh. Sure he was.
But the only thing that struck him odd was when he ran into a friend of Vincent's. This, Kirux, said something about a meeting that Rufus was mentioned at. If there was a meeting, why was he not invited? He would understand if it had no relevance to the worlds. But why would Vincent speak of Rufus? Well, it wasn't worth putting his mind to it. It wasn't worth worrying about.
Well, long story short, he hadn't seen anyone he knew, or knew him since The Healin Lodge with Vincent a few months before. Maybe he'd run into...Ms. Lockheart...
His motion slowed as he now recognised Tifa. Damn it. Maybe he could walk by without being noticed and without conflict. Then, when he figures out where he is, he'll notify Valentine that he had seen Tifa Lockheart on Spira. Until he could get by, he wasn't doing anything.

Tifa stopped for a moment looking down to her wet shoes in disgust. It just felt so strange to be walking in them. Their really wasn't much else she could do except take her shoes off. Though she felt that in case something did happen it would be best of her not to be barefoot. Tifa always kept her guard up no matter where she was. She wasn't one to give her trust out too easily, especially if she didn't like you very much. Well anyone would react the same for the most part.
Tifa for the most part was unaware of all of the things that were going on with the people that she knew. Enemies and allies. She hadn't seen much of them in awhile. AVALANCHE members seemed like ages ago since she was last with them. Same for enemies. She hadn't even seen much from those Heartless creatures that were wandering around. Though one never knew with Sephiroth. She had no idea if he was planning to strike back or not.
And then there was the Turks. They had helped out with the Remnant Brothers situation not too long ago. Though that was mainly Reno and Rude who helped. She still wasn't willing to give her trust to them yet do to the past that she had with them. How could she just go and forgive them like that? Especially that Rufus Shinra. She didn't trust that sneaky snake one bit still. She probably never will since she still had sort of a hate for him. And Shinra in a whole. Though it probably wasn't as strong as her hate for Sephiroth. And to hate is a very strong feeling. She did wonder if they were up to anything and who's side they planned on fighting.
As she continued to wander around the island she felt the silence still growing strong. She didn't like it much since it was sort of awkward. And it made her wonder if somethign was going to happen. Which is why she kept her guard up wearing a serious expression on her face. She stopped abruptly at the sound of footsteps. She turned her head quickly her long hair wipping around with her. Someone was walking toward her. A person. Male from what she could tell. She squinted her eyes trying to get a better look though it was still pretty pointless since she couldn't kiss any clear facial features at all.
After a moment of thinking, Tifa began to walk in the opposite direction heading toward the person. She noticed him start to walk slower toward her. Tifa mimicked this response now realizing who it was. Speak of the devil, Rufus Shinra. She clenched her fists for a moment, anger appearing in the usual optimistic Tifa. Though when she didn't like someone she sure as hell wouldn't hide it. She moved quicker and stopped when only a good 10 feet were keeping them apart. Her expression hardened showing her anger in seeing him.
"You...what are you doing here?" Tifa asked coldly trying to control her anger for the most part. She was usually patient and not one to lose her temper and get so angry. But all of the bad memories and her dislike of him were coming back as she stood face to face.

Most people don't lend their trust out very openly. But, there were people that did and trusted you unless you gave them a reason not to. Then there were the ones that didn't trust you unless you gave them a reason to trust you. Rufus usually kept to himself and trusted few people to aid him. Then again, he didn't like a lot of people either. It was his nature in a way.
Though, he wasn't sure if Tifa knew anything about the truce. Vincent had simply warned him to not make any sudden movements with his gun and he should be pretty safe, for the most part. There was only a few Avalanche that he was worried would start something. Tifa, Barret and Yuffie were the few. Reeve was alright with him, as was Vincent. Cloud was at least on a speaking basis with Rufus.
The Turks had helped out during Geostigma as well. Tseng and Elena would have helped if they hadn't been taken prisoner and tortured by Kadaj and his gang. For all he knew, they could have been having a tea party. But the bloodied ID card kind of ruined that mental image. He was sure Vincent had saved them as well. But neither side would confirm or deny it.
As for Tifa hating him, he understood this as well. He would never admit his understanding, but it was true. Shinra had done some rather touchy things in the past, but Rufus wasn't fully to blame for them all. Yet, many people did blame him and the company.
But, as Rufus got closer, his pace slowed. Great, a confrontation is exactly what he wanted. When Tifa slowed and her facial expression changed, he knew this was it. There was no easy way to just keep walking. Though, he probably could if he wanted. That is, until she spoke to him.
Rufus stopped as well, letting out an annoyed sigh, a calm and collective expression. "I do have a name, Ms. Lockheart. But my business here isn't really much of your concern, now is it?" The tone really didn't seem to bother him at all. His outward appearance was strong and unmoving. It was obvious he was not going to let her bother him.

Tifa kept her eyes extremely focused on him never once moving them. She was watching to see if he had anything sneaky planned. She studied his body movements watching carefully in case she saw him doing anything out of the ordinary. When something was out of the ordinary it usually meant that something bad was going to happen. She looked over his body noticing the white suit. She tried to see if he was armed. He usually had some sort of gun on him. Tifa always had her one and only weapon her pair of black gloves. She currently wasn't wearing them though she could get them on easily if he started to fight. She new not to attack him though...yet.
Tifa didn't have any idea what was going on with Avalanche. She didn't know that Rufus and Vincent had a sort of truce worked out. She had been far away from them for a bit so she would have no idea what was going on naturally. If she was aware of this she may have behaved differently when running into Rufus. Though even if she did know about the truce she still wouldn't know how much she would give of her trust to him. Nothing could replace the past and all of the bad memories that Shinra created.
Sure it wasn't exactly his direct fault though he did have some sort of say in what happened being the President. Tifa just immediatley associated him with Shinra and all of the bad that the company caused her.
As he spoke Tifa clenched her fists in her hands resisting the urge to just punch him. She hated how he was being sarcastic with her. And he was making it seem like she should just be happy with running into him here. She wouldn't be okay with it. Though she was patient for the most part which is why she was holding back, though her mind was impulsing her to do worse. She tried to relax herself since he seemed calm. Though she had to keep her guard up. She simply crossed her arms giving the appearance that she was calming down. Though her facial expression was still pretty hard.
"I am aware of your name President Shinra." Tifa said her voice reflecting on much of her annoyed and angry attitude. "And while you do have the right to be here, you can't expect me to be happy to see you. I'm sure even you can realize that, I'm not that fond of you..."

Tifa hadn't shifted her gaze from him. If he was anyone else, he might have been a little intimidated by this gesture. But, this wasn't anything new to him. This had been used on him countless times by his father and Hojo. Maybe Tseng on occasion, and his glares aren't to be taken lightly. But, it was true he was carrying a weapon. Two to be more precise. His trusted shotgun was at his hip under his billowy suit jacket. The second was his small gun that he had used on Kadaj which was tucked into his jacket pocket.
He had already surveyed the area for the quickest way out and best vantage spots if anything went sour. Though Tifa had a bit of a temper, he figured she would be rather good at holding in her feelings. He was right about this by the way she calmed down. See, kids do help in some ways. They increase your patience tolerance as well as destroy it.
In a short while, Rufus was planning on asking if she had spoken with Vincent. He was almost praying that she had so he didn't have to waste his time with the explaining and such. But he had a bad feeling she had not met with Valentine. Why did he have this feeling?
As for Tifa's relating of Shinra to Rufus, it was easy to do this. Like he said, many people did. But he blamed his father more then anything else. Not Sephiroth, not Cloud and strangely not Reno. The sole blame was on his father, and himself for not successfully getting rid of the old man while he could. Then again, he did personally have Tifa and Barret sent to the gas chamber.
When he had spoken, he took note of the little things in her body language. Her fist had clenched, which meant she either wanted to throttle him or punch him. Yet when he finished speaking, Tifa folded her arms and seemed to look much more understanding and calm. But her eyes told otherwise. To him, it was blatantly obvious she hated him. No one needed to tell him that.
Tifa reminded him that she did know his name and he smirked at the title that was added. It was strange to here anyone from Avalanche actually refer to him as President anymore. "Why would I expect you to be glad to see me? I don't really expect that of anyone. But I already knew you weren't 'fond' of me. Your body language speaks for itself."

Tifa noticed the weapons as her eyes scanned around. She didn't really get that nervous since she knew that he probably wouldn't use it on her. He didn't hate her like she did to him. At least that was what she believed. She quickly checked to make sure that she had her gloves. She actually had two pairs just to play it safe. Tifa didn't use any weapon when it came to battle. She was very skilled at martial arts and hadvery good strength as well. She really wasn't that good with weapons since she preferred to just use her hands as weapons. The fists of an angry woman can be nearly as bad as a sword on occasions.
Part of Tifa wanted to ask him if he had seen any of the members of Avalanche. The Turks did have some contact with Avalanche not that long ago during the Geostigma. Perhaps something else had happened while Tifa was away from the rest of them. Though she didn't really want to ask. She could actually be very timid when it came to asking things or letting her feelings out. But that was only with certain people.
This conversation was mainly her hate. She didn't want to ask him since she believed that she was supposed to be hating him. That would cause a peace between the two. But Tifa had a reason to hate him! Its not like she was just hating him out of the blue over something stupid. He was the leader of Shinra, one of things in life she hated almost as much as Sephiroth, She wasn't planning on making peace just yet. Very stubborn indeed. Though part of her was quite anxious to know how the others were doing and he was the only one that knew them around here.
Tifa clenched her fists once more as he spoke. But after doing so she felt a bit better releasing the grip and trying to relax. He mentioned how her body language spoke for herself. She blinked in confusion. Was she really being that obvious. Was he reading her feelings like a book? She expected him to figure that out by her tone of voice. But she had tried to loosen up her body making him think she was more comfortable around him. But the face was probably to much of a stretch for her to change.
Tifa finally decided to soften up a bit her face was not neutral with a tint of anger. She was a bit more loose now but still tight enough to switch right into fighting mode if needed. "You pick up fast then..." Tifa muttered quietly. After an awkward silence Tifa bit her lip and decided to speak up.
"Have you seen any other Avalanche members, by any chance."Tifa said out loud. If you didn't do anything to them already! She thought to herself inside her mind. She partly regretted asking this since she was seeming to make peace like she had dreaded doing before. But her curiosity won over her, and also her worrying about her friends helped out too.

Rufus was not stupid enough, or even desperate enough to draw a weapon. At the moment, everything was going rather well. Why pull a gun on someone unless they are harming you? Exactly, you don't do it unless you have a legitimate reason. There was no reason to give Tifa the satisfaction of attacking him.
How did Cloud deal with Tifa on a regular basis? He wasn't really sure. Then again, he had been asked how he can stand Reno on a daily routine. He really hadn't had an answer at the time, but he was able to bother with the Turk. Reno actually was one of the better Turks, if he focused on the job. Reno had had contact with Tifa and Cloud for some reason. It did come in handy when he needed to reach Cloud. Sadly, Reno was the one to ruin it though. He hadn't seen Cloud since he bumped into him for a short second in the Jungle.
He really needed to mention the situation to Tifa. But in a way, he really didn't want to. Rufus didn't have a reason to hate the group but he didn't have a real reason to praise them either. The attempted to destroy Shinra, but they had also helped take down some of Shinra's problems like Sephiroth and Jenova and the Tsviets. Truthfully, Rufus didn't even know they existed.
But after Rufus spoke, she seemed to relax a little in the face and stance. Though, she could change how she at Rufus. It was still obvious, to him, that she hated the President. Heh, wait till she found out they were rebuilding Shinra. He'd probably either hear it, or get it. "Heh, you'd be surprised how fast." He couldn't help but smirk. He needed to be a human lie detector and be able to read people by their posture and stance. It was part of the business world.
When she bit her lip, he sighed. There was going to be something really stupid or really important coming out of her mouth. Then she asked about his Avalanche Sightings. Oh, fun!
"Lately? No." He paused for a moment. "But I have run into a few of them over the past few months. Do you want a list of them?" There was not a hint of sarcasm in his words. Everything was spoken with a sense of pure seriousness as well as being completely calm. Heh, if only he could read minds.

Tifa naturally did not see herself as a bother like Rufus did. And Cloud dealing with her? If anything it was her dealing with him. She was the one who had to deal with his depression and angst state and try to get him out of it. She even had to yell at him to get him to listen to her. She was helpful to him if anything. Though maybe she was hard to deal with. Though it never seem to bother Cloud. Well there was also the fact that Cloud and Rufus were pretty different. Tifa was actually trying to be somewhat cooperative in this situation. She was trying her best to act in a professional since she really wasn't up to fighting. Plus she didn't think that she could take on Rufus by herself. She was just angry and resisting the urge to release all of her hate and feelings and just give him a good punch in the face. Which is why she kept on clenching her fists. She felt a bit better when she did that though the desire to punch was usually still there.
Tifa listened to him speak again and noticed that smirk across her face. Was he mocking her or something? This made her really mad though she just changed her neutral expression to a glare for the moment being since she was still trying to control her anger and relax. She did have a bad feeling that she would eventually lose it while in this conversation and just whack him. She was a very passionate person and she tended to let her feelings get the best of her. Though she usually kept them locked up inside, on her inside her feelings created a war nearly.
Tifa looked a bit disappointed when he said that he hadn't run into any of them recently. She was really hoping to possibly see some of them again and know how they were doing. They may have needed her help. Though she turned her attention back to him when he saw some of them over the past few months. That was more recently then Tifa's time with them. She wondered if he was lying to get her to trust him though. She thought hard about this for a moment and then nodded her head slightly.
"Yes...I would like to know." Tifa said quietly.

Most women did not see themselves as a bother. Though, Rufus was a little unique in this aspect. A lot of people annoyed Rufus nowadays. The Turks had constantly been on his nerves as well as the executives when he was President and Vice-President of the Shinra Corporation. But he didn’t have anyone other than the pressing truth of Sephiroth’s revival. If people could come back from the dead, could his father come back and reclaim the company? It was possible, but he doubted the Turks would side with his father after the last time. He knew that at least Reno would stick by him. It was better than being completely blindsided.
As for being compared with Cloud, they weren’t too different. First off, they were both blond. That has to count for something. Though, Rufus was way better looking than Cloud would ever think he’d be. They both were part of Shinra and had the same ideas at times. Other than that, they probably didn’t have much in common.
Rufus probably wouldn’t care how Tifa felt at any point of their conversation. When it was a business matter, nothing personal came into play. There were two sides to him, his personal side and his business side. Yes, he usually was in business mode. But there was a small, tiny, microscope bit of being in him. He had talked personally with the Turks; he has had problems with personal matter as well as other things. But he usually didn’t take a lot of the things to heart. Yes, he took a lot of what the Turks said to heart and he does understand his own personal failures. But he didn’t let it bother him too much.
So, Tifa could go and clench her little fists all she wanted, it didn’t matter. Well, at least not until he got that small fist in his face. That probably wouldn’t turn out too nice. He’d end up shooting her or something and that would be the end of any truce that might have became permanent. So, he too did not want a fight to break out. He wasn’t even sure he’d be able to take her, as sad as that might sound. Rufus was not the best person at close range fighting. But he could have easily gained some distance from the vantage points he’d spotted earlier. Also, he was getting better with his dodging. Or, he thought he was getting better.
But, after he had spoken and smirked at Tifa, she flashed a decent glare. This only made his smirk get a little bigger. But he didn’t let it go too far. Any sudden movements might release the beast in her. That’d be bad. So, he waited for her response to his question. He had no reason to lie. But if she thought he was lying already, what he was going to say about Vincent was going to be unbelievable. Hopefully she took a little bit of mercy, not that he’d want it from Avalanche.
“I’ve spoken to Vincent on many occasions. I had a run in with Yuffie at the Timeless River. Cloud I had seen in a Jungle type world. Vincent had made mention that Aerith was still alright as well.” He paused again. “But, on a more negative note, Kadaj and his brothers have returned as well as Sephiroth. We don’t know who else has come back other than that.” Heh, he’d said we. That was not really a mistake, but the fact he used a plural term might imply he was speaking with someone about Avalanche. Tifa might pick this up or maybe not.

Tifa usually didn't get annoyed for the most part. She was pretty patient so she wouldn't lose he temper with someone like some people did. Plus she had a big softspot for her love and care. But when it came to things that she absolutely hated patience just flew out the window. She was losing it little by little the more that she talked to Rufus and the more that she thought about all of the hell he had put her through. But she hadn't reached her boiling point quite yet. Every moment was going closer to it.
Tifa didn't care too much about he felt either mainly because she didn't like him. She had no regret for anything that she had said in the conversation. And she probably wouldn't. Heck she wouldn't mind if she spent the whole conversation insulting him the whole time. But she needed information and she doubted that she would get any of it if she stood here and insulted him the whole time.
She didn't want to fight either since she wasn't good at long distance fighting like he was. After all she was mainly sparring and martial arts type fighting. How could she do that if he was far away. So if they did get into a fight, odds are it wouldn't go well for either of them. Which is why she was resisting her wants to punch him. But when she saw that smirk get bigger she completely lost it. Her hand raised ever so slighty but she managed to stay controlled enough to yell.
"You better wipe that smirk off your face or I'll do it for you!" Tifa threatened. And she meant it for sure. He was making her more and more mad with every minute that went by. She probably wouldn't get as mad if someone else was hear. But since it was just the two of them her anger was beginning to get the best of her. Though her patience was calming it down a bit. She took a deeep breath and shut her eyes for a moment not caring what he would say about her trying to relax herself. She listened to him speak about the run-ins that he had. She looked intrigued the whole time and also relieved. She wondered what they were doing in the strangest of worlds though. Unless they were brought to them randomly like Tifa was to this world.
"Cloud, Vincent, Aerith and Yuffie. They are all doing well then right? What were you doing speaking with them?" Tifa said hoping he was telling her the truth since she worried like crazy about her friends. She looked more angry when he mentioned that the Remnant Brothers and Sephiroth were back. Though she wasn't mad at him. She was just angry at the thought of them. She looked out to the ocean for a moment. "Them again..." She said coldly.

Well, it seemed the conversation had turned a little violent. But her reactions to a simple signature smirk were so priceless. Tifa seemed to only act this way to him, which was the best part. This little thing called patience seemed to be ticking down to explode with the little things. A smirk? Ha! This wasn't better then Kadaj's expression after he threw mother off the building though. That was a lot better.
With her outburst, raising of her fist, and 'calm down' session, he could help but let out a short laugh. It wasn't a Scarlet laugh or anything. It was definitely a Rufus laugh. More of a snicker, but not quote a Hojo one. But he still shook his head at this. "Can't hold that temper in I see."
But he quickly moved to respond to her question about Avalanche. "Yes, they were all in good health. Yuffie seemed a little more hyperactive then usual, but yes." When she commented on the Remnants, he nodded. "That's why Vincent and I made a truce for the time being." It was stated as if she already knew this teeny weeny fact. Great, he was going to get it for the comment early, then for lying. But, he wasn't going to be lying! The irony of it all.
Hell has no fury like a woman scorned.

Tifa was about a split second away from losing it. Her breaking point was becoming reached more and more with each second. And then he went so far as to laugh at her. He was really asking for it. She clenched her fists so hard practically hurting herself with her fingernails digging so hard into her skin. He was just making her more and more mad by just being here at this point. Looking at his face made her want to just punch him or spit in his eye. But she was trying as best she could with the relaxtion method. But she was getting tired of trying to calm down. The only thing she wnated right now more then anything was to hurt him in some way.
But when he spoke up and insulted her about her temper. Vincent wouldn't do something like that! Why would he make a truce with this horrible man who caused them nothing but trouble! Vincent wouldn't do something like that. She trusted Vincent. He was a friend. So she believed him to be lying. And that was Tifa's final strike. She quickly grabbed her gloves from her pocket sliding them on within seconds. One of her fists came right towards his head and continued this movement three times until she finally got him the last two times. She felt much better after that.
"Watch who you are talking to! Have a bit more respect for other people you jerk!" Tifa yelled. She was tempted to just give him a good hard kick also but she felt like she had done enough punching her. Plus it made her feel better. Usually Tifa wasn't one to resort to violence. She looked out into the ocean once again watching the waves crush against the beach she was thinking about what he said. Why would he even say something like that about Vincent. Vincent was her friend and when her friends got insulted, Tifa took it as an insult to. Her friends meant the world to her since they were all that she had left. She looked back to Rufus.
"Why would you even say something like that?! Vincent is not a traitor! He would never betray Avalanche. Our goal was not only to stop Sephiroth but to stop YOU!" Tifa yelled her voice echoing out on the island. She was still a bit angry and was now just releasing it verbally.

Well, he'd over-boiled the teapot a little. It probably wasn't worth the laugh. But, he had a feeling that she would burst anyway when he mentioned the truce. Luckily, he had seen her movement, stance and irritation level. If he hadn't, the first blow might have made contact. The whole gloves thing should have clued him in too. Instinctively, his right hand shifted to the rifle on his side.
The hesitation in drawing his rifle would probably irritate him later. But, the first blow came higher, towards his head and he managed to duck and side step around it. His hand did not move from the weapon. At first, he was rather proud of his movements, he dodged them all except for the last two. Heh. Yah.
The one that actually got him was the blow to his chest/abdomen. Then, within seconds, the other hit his nose/face. Boom, down for the count.
Rufus blinked up from his position on the beach, his left hand was holding his nose. The other shifted from his gun when he realized there was not going to be any death blows. He sat there as Tifa yelled at him. Though, he didn't look too bothered.
"Respect? Ha. I'll remember that for next time." There was sarcasm in his voice. It was now loaded with it. His nose, luckily, didn't bleed or anything. That might have been a bad thing. It would have totally ruined his 'never seen bleed or cry'.
When she looked back to the ocean, he shifted to a sitting position rather then his awkward position on the ground. He wasn't going to stand up just yet.
"Why would I say something like that? Because it's actually true for once, Lockheart. You couldn't punch me when I was lying thrw my teeth, but instead, you do it the first time in a while that I'm telling the truth...." He sighed before getting back to his feet. He was not going to argue while sitting on the ground.
His tone had grown a little irritated and angered, but it wasn't obvious. More of a subtle undertone. "I never said Vincent was a traitor. But he is the only one in your group that can rationally think everything threw. Obviously you can't confirm anything before you take action. You may hate Shinra, but the feeling is mutual." He paused again, but did not let Tifa take over.
"We have a common enemy at the moment. Kadaj's gang and Sephiroth. Gaia knows what else. Vincent and I have agreed to a truce, a cease-fire if you will. Call him right now if you don't believe me. You can use my phone if you don't have one." With one swift movement, he shifted his phone out of his pocket and offered it to Lockheart, his gaze was tense. "Prove me wrong."

"She won't need to."
The source of the familiar deep voice came from parallel to where Tifa was standing over a injured Rufus, as Vincent appeared alongside them. His red tattered cape flapped in the breeze off the beach of the island, long raven black hair wildly blown about by the same wind. The ex-Turk had a habit of doing that, appearing out of no-where like a ghost, footsteps as silent as the very wind rushing over them all at that moment. Red eyes traced over the scene, taking in every feature. He didn't have to hear the entire conversation to guess what had happened, although thanks to his sharp senses he had picked up the end of it.
So, what was the crimson demon doing here, in Spira, of all places? During his travels, he had picked up a phone call from Cloud, who had given him a message he wanted to deliver to Tifa. Vincent asked why he couldn't just call her himself, but for some reason Cloud had been unable to reach her. Cloud was busy at the time in Hollow Bastion with an urgent matter, so Vincent reluctantly took the messenger job. He had somehow picked up Tifa's fragrant scent on Spira, and went to investigate.
Returning to the situation at hand, Vincent remained on the spot, as still as a statue. His crimson eyes lifted up meet Tifa's, whom he felt would feel she had been betrayed at the mention that Vincent had allied with Rufus Shinra, whom AVALANCHE had been assembled all those years ago to rise up against. His expression had a sympathizing, yet serious, demeanor to it. He nodded once, slowly and curtly, to confirm what Rufus had said was true. "Tifa. Like Rufus said, we have the bigger picture to focus on. I was able to find redemption for my sins. Cloud has been able to forgive himself for his past. Perhaps it is time for you to let go of your negative feelings as well."
He looked to Rufus, who who was holding his nose as if Tifa punched him. To his eyes, anyway, and as much as he wanted to see her do it again he pitied the poor man in that moment. But that didn't mean he felt like defending him. Rufus had not done anything yet to truly redeem himself, and Vincent doubted if ever would. Though, he would confirm what Rufus Shinra had said about him, in his defense, at least. His eyes traced back up to Tifa. "He is right. We have enemies in common. Remnants. Sephiroth. Deepground. Restrictors. Heartless. Nobodies. And more from other worlds. Rufus was responsible for funding the World Regenesis Organization. And he also fought against Kadaj and his brothers before that. I don't know if I can trust you, Rufus, any more than any of us in AVALANCHE can," he paused, looking at Rufus with a solemn look on his face.
"But, I do know you wouldn't get rid of someone unless you no longer had any use for them, and you need our help, Rufus Shinra. As much as we need yours. We have common enemies, just as much as the inhabitants on this world do. And you seem to be looking for your own redemption, but we will be watching you, Rufus." He had saved Tseng and Elena from the Turks all those years ago when the Remnants had been torturing them, not only because he understood the precious value of human life, but because he saw the potential in them to do good. If he hadn't saved Tseng and Elena that day, they wouldn't have been there to save Rufus when he jumped off the building with Kadaj, and then Rufus wouldn't have been able to fund the WRO. If Rufus had corrupted intentions, he could have absorbed Jenova's powers into himself, or taken the WRO to become his new Shinra force, but had proven not to be as corrupted with power along the likes of his father, Sephiroth, or Hojo. Perhaps that's why he had survived all the events, because he hadn't drawn attention enough to himself to be a serious threat.
But then again, it could have all been a clever ploy to trick AVALANCHE. Once a villian, always a villian. He saw the potential to do good in Rufus, but he wasn't fooled into thinking that he would never be capable of doing such cruel acts again. But Rufus did not have status quo yet to put himself back into a position of power that could make him a considerable threat among the likes of the Remnants and Sephiroth. A strong ally with the disposal of the Turks at his hands, but not enough force to overpower AVALANCHE, the Hollow Bastion Restoration Comittee and the WRO just now, among with other groups they were friendly with.
So, for now, he called a truce with him. They were more powerful together than they were if they were seperate, and the last thing they needed was another enemy on the list. He only hoped Tifa could look past her feelings of hatred, and come to understand his reasoning. If not, perhaps he should break the alliance, if AVALANCHE were not confident enough now to think they could handle Shinra and the Turks, like they could in the past.
"I'm not asking that you get along together. I only ask that we work alongside each other."
