((OOC: Before anyone can shove anything inside my throat, I already talked to Lar about this post.)) Sera felt the pressure of Maurelle’s mental assault on her own mind to find some sort of weakness wither her barrier. If this kept up, the barrier would either fall apart or completely shatter like glass. Within her own mind, there was a plan forming that would either be labeled as ‘suicidal’ or ‘sadist’ but she would need someone to cover her so she could place it into action. While slaying the Shadows whose intention was to only destroy those in Maurelle’s and Valerius’ way, the psychic stepped back until she was behind Rikku and Kairi. “…I hope it isn’t…too much to ask…but I need…you both to…cover me…I’m about to…to do something…do something utterly…utterly stupid…” gasped Sera as she placed her katana back in its sheath, “Feel free to…use my katana…if your magic…runs low….” The last statement was meant for Rikku for the ‘just in case’. The woman looked up at the human Heartless before throwing down her mind barrier to allow Maurelle inside before putting it back up quickly with every intention to entrap her inside her own mind. Her mind was focused on the memories of the nightmares that had been made into reality and the ones that didn’t. It would take a miracle for Maurelle to fall for this because Grace needed and almost depended on it. It was black as the night and as suffocating as the basement the woman was trapped in when she was younger twenty years ago. The taste of copper was on her tongue though Sera had physically bitten her own lips due to stress. The heat of flames and fever licked her skin. The sounds of screams and breaking glass reached her ears. Her head getting smashed against something hard. The experience of shattering bones and getting thrown down the stairs of a dark basement replayed inside her memory. These imaginary walls were already closing in and this psychic is already too focused on her mind torture to stop herself as she physically stands but with her violet eyes unfocused on the Heartless witch’s form. Only so little of this was actually from her memory while other images were from her own imagination but if Sera cannot harm her physically then mental harm shall do.

Valerius had been surprised when he knew he shouldn't have been, and it cost him. As Vincent attacked him with his gun and he blocked the bash with his blade, but what about the dangerous fashion statement he had looked over only a few moments prior? The claws came down lightning fast and slashed against Valerius' chest, ripping his clothes and leaving a trail of blood.
Regardless of the damage Valerius grinned at Vincent after backpedaling a few steps out of the range of that claw. "Heh. Guess I got careless. Lets hope for the sake of a good fight that I don't do that again." He did a small flourish with his blade, mostly because of his eccentric personality and because he always loved showing off a little bit. He raised the blood red blade, though it had been his blood that was drawn first he intended on showing his opponent the color of his own.
"You got my blood boiling, that's for sure!" Valerius decided that he was done with the experimenting phase of the fight, he was ready for some more serious stuff. With a wave of his hand Valerius summoned two exact copies of himself that mirrored his actions. Of course if Vincent aimed an attack at a copy it would disappear if it were hit, it would just be unfair otherwise. "Think fast!"
The three Valerius' dashed at Vincent in unison, but right before they reached them they stopped doing the exact same thing. One Valerius jumped into the air, aiming a downward slash at Vincent while the other two dashed to opposite sides of Vincent, each of them slashing at him with their swords. Which one was the real Valerius? Vincent would have to dispatch the copies before he could find out.

Maurelle was hit with the full force of Sera's mind. All her thoughts, feeling, ideas, and strategies. That's when Sera's plan hit her. Sera was going to trap Maurelle in her mind, this was not good. But, within an instant, she was trapped, living Sera's fears with her. Maurelle's body physically winced and drew her hands to her head. This was not good. Her mind was trapped outside her body and the pain was too great. Maurelle let out a small cry, there was nothing she could do, this was a wide opening. Thankfully the heartless were keeping the group busy. Maruelle's mind began to mess with Sera's, hoping to get the girl to break down and drop her shield's again. "Aww, poor little girl. Locked in a little basement because your parents thought you were a freak. They should have done far worse to you. You're nothing."[/i] Maurelle was playing now. She had to get out of her mind!! Maurelle mentally pulled herself into the memory, crouching down to Sera's form at the bottom of the steps. "You're never going to escape. You'll be stuck here with me forever. I'm sure I can make your mind a living hell."[/i] It was up to Valerius to make sure nothing happened in the physical world. - Rikku has been removed - [/b] [ Posting Order: Vincent, Kairi, Sera, Valerius, then Maurelle]

Vincent flipped backwards as his claw landed on it's mark of the Heartless man, landing some distance away out of the range of his sword. The man actually bled - which was amusing, considering he was a Heartless, and Heartless did not bleed. The man must have been trying to fool him with an illusion that he was a real human being in order to put him off. But it did not matter in the sightest - Vincent was used to battling against the real flesh and blood of others. If the blood was an illusion, the man with orange hair was simply wasting his time... perhaps even his energy to make that image.
Hmph. Careless. That had been the man's excuse, and Vincent did not care either way, for he had succeed in the desired result of catching the man off-guard. He would have to react quickly and adapt to the combat if the man wished to return back in kind. He heard Valerius prattle on his battle taunts, which he never replied to, rather he let his actions speak louder than any words. As he had anticipated, the man had a surprise in store, and made two copies of himself. This was hardly anything new to Vincent - he had fought against opponents with illusion techniques before, especially Nero who had the same ability.
He would stick with what he knew - damaging the copies would usually bring damage to the user itself or destroy them. As the three copies came at him, he fired off three bullets at each of them, a total of nine bullets each. Even if they blocked the bullets, at least that would keep their sword distracted a moment longer while he dodged the initcal hits. Just before the clones came for him, Vincent waited to react at the last moment, the clone jumping into the air moving a split second faster than the other two darting into his peripheral vision. Vincent flipped backwards out of the way of the jumping Valerius, but couldn't react quickly enough in time to dodge the other two who came at him in a pincer-like manuver from both sides.
The blades sliced into the chest and abdomen, drawing the blood the Heartless wanted him to see, but seconds after their blades had arched out of his flesh Vincent had already begun his roundhouse kick at both of them, his metal pointed boot slashing at their heads. Once he had finished this, he pulled up Cerberus again and fired at point-blank range at the Valerius that missed him with four bullets. Then he double-jumped and flipped up over them, while spinning up-side down shooting nine bullets in total at all of the clones at once, creating a deadly rainstorm of bullets from above. He landed some distance away behind the Valerius clone that had missed him, momentarily exhausted from the effort at his last manuver and the blood now dripping out of his battle-torn bodysuit, having escaped being trapped by the clones for now. His red eyes picked up glowing red hue, and his body began to radiate with a strange, crimson-like aura, an energy only Vincent knew which had awakened the sleeping demon within.

Her breathing was heavy, and at this point, various cuts littered her body.
Her sore muscles protested with each movement the Princess made. Slashing against the seemingly endless assault of Heartless, and her own physical limitations. Once again, that bitter feeling grew within her, and she wanted to scream her turmoil to the world. Now was hardly the time, though, and all she could continue to do was her best. Her gaze swiftly flickered over her remaining comrades, and all she could see was Sera. And the woman was engaged with the Heartless woman at the moment. That left everything else to her already burdened shoulders. Raising her hand, the Princess shot off a Firagra spell. Her form was shaking, and it was hard to keep a hold of her keyblade.
Determined to win, the Princess of Heart jumped into the fray once more, a plan already forming within her mind. Suicidal? Yes. Effective? Definitely. A smile crossed her lips, and though she was acting reckless, she was just a little battle high. With Vincent and Sera fighting their own battles, she wanted to be useful in some way. Any way that might lessen the burden, and protect the psychic while she tried her plan. Twirling about, she held her keyblade in front of her, wondering if she would be capable of holding back this many Heartless. She was a Princess of Heart, able to hold back the darkness, so this should be no different! Sparks of light began to form around her body, as she gathered energy she barely had left to expend. Standing in front of Sera, she prepared herself.
And so she released the pent up energy.
As soon as the light released from her body, the Princess cried out, pain suddenly surfacing along her skin. As if her very essence were being torn from her. Purity of unequal measure crashed into the wave of Heartless, destroying at the mere touch of the light, though it did not come without a price. Kairi screamed, clutching her heart, no coherent thought coming to her mind. Distressed, the waves continued, until they, too, began to fade. Heartless were incinerated, and as the blinding light faded, hardly any remained. The field clear on her side, the Princess promptly slammed to the ground, her keyblade clattering from her grasp as it disappeared in a flash of light. Azure orbs were glassed over, hollowed, and she laid there like a broken doll. Auburn locks slid against cheeks devoid of color.
The Princess had burned out her last reserves.

Sera's physical body stayed standing with her own violet eyes tightly shut as she continued with her mental torture trap but her mind was still fighting a battle that it wasn't prepared for. She had never used it in a battle before and the shield was a product of twenty years' worth of self defense. It won't break down easily and had the witch known that her own 'sucidal' plan was working, she would have smiled.
It would have seemed that Maurelle was too hasty with her research when the advantage of reading her was almost freely given to her. (Her father had been the abuser while her mother had made sure that she knew what being loved was like.) Her insults had no effect on Sera and forced her five year old self of the memory to stand up in order to face the Heartless eye to eye.
You may be inside my mind but you don't know me at all do you?[/i]asked the younger version of herself rhetorically despite the grave facts that she had trapped the Heartless inside her own mind and the choice of the memory, Go ahead and try. I already know what hell is like.[/i]
At this moment, the mental scenery changed to the a pitch black domain where sight had no power. The violent and painful sensations had stopped but it was only temporary. But I won't give you the chance since how long can the mind last without it's body?[/i]
Seraphina had already realized that she cannot trap Maurelle inside her own mind for too long unless she wanted to risk having her own body getting taken over (That possibility was still uncertain.) and needed to finish her before the Heartless could figure out a way to break down her barrier. Also, the witch had sensed something wrong outside of her mind and is worried about Kairi's safety though kept it hidden. She is still human after all.
A sharp stab of pain was felt where her own heart should be and a slash across her abdomen. Her memory was excellent on remembering each wound whether stimulated from her visions or her own past but it was hard to tell vision and memory apart.
Sera was not aware that Kairi had literally used up all of her energy because her focus was completely inside her own mind or that the Princess' one attack had nearly finished all the Heartless in the area. Sera's and Kairi's (near?) suicidal plans had left Maurelle's physical body wide open to an fatal attack but who will be the one to finish her?

The three Valerius' dodged around Vincent's first set of bullets, noticing that the man was more then adept with a gun. Valerius was glad that he decided against having a gun fight with him, he was good at aiming things, but it was obvious that this guy had way more practice then he would ever care to with a trigger weapon. He preferred the killing edge of a sword, anyways. He enjoyed the feelings of a blade slicing through flesh or whatever it was that his opponents had at the time, a much more fulfilling sensation then shooting a gun.
Valerius and his illusion clones were able to get to Vincent without being damaged, and even managed to hurt the man. Valerius watched as crimson blood flew through the air, though it didn't stand out amongst the red and black of Vincent's outfit very much. The illusions were dispatched a moment later by melee attacks from Vincent, leaving it to be one on one again. Valerius didn't mind, he had no problem with the advantage belonging to either of them. He wondered what possible tricks the man had left, and Valerius knew that he still had a few up his sleeve.
The bullets that Vincent had fired point-blank were deflected mostly by Valerius' swift sword skills, but one of the bullets managed to graze him along his cheek. He grinned widely as the blood, imaginary as it might be, dripped down his face. He couldn't help pretending that he had blood, the liquid was just to fun to not play with it. He watched as Vincent performed some complicated acrobatics, moves that Valerius could probably pull off if he cared to try, and then fired something comparable to a hail, only it was bullets that flew down towards the Heartless and not chunks of ice. He flashed Vincent another smirk and gave a mental command to the blade he held, willing it to transform. Obeying it's master's command, the sword morphed into a shield large enough to cover and protect Valerius from the bullets.
With the shells clattering harmlessly off of Valerius, he noticed something happening. One of the girls, one that held a Keyblade, summoned tremendous power, from her heart Valerius theorized, and destroyed a large amount of Heartless. A moment later the Keyblader fell to the ground, looking more broken then anything else. That left only Maurelle and the woman she was fighting, and Valerius to fight the crimson cloaked man. He could tell that Maurelle and her opponent were locked in a battle of minds, leaving both of them open to attack. Fortunately Valerius would be able to cover Vincent from hurting Maurelle, but that also meant that Vincent could keep Valerius from hurting his friend.
Valerius gave another mental command and his shield transformed back into a katana. He looked back to Vincent, noticing that something was changing about him, something that made him seem... More chaotic. Valerius wasn't certain if this change meant anything good for him, but he had learned to ride the good and bad in a battle as if riding a wave. "Looks like it's just you and me." Somehow Valerius doubted that the man would respond, for more reasons then that he was just a quiet guy. He stood there and raised his blade in a defensive stance, waiting to see what his opponent would do next.

Nothing else mattered, Maurelle had to get out of here now. The mind was not something to be played with, and this was too far. There was no way she could fight while being trapped in this place. Sera was human, and Maurelle was not liking these emotions she was getting attacked with. At this point in time, she was being told by a five year old version of Sera! It was insulting! Sera spoke to her, but Maurelle didn't respond, that is, till Sera brought up how long the body could last without a mind. Her mind was the only thing keeping her shell of a body together. Maurelle stood in the same pitch black room as Sera. The pain seared as she felt the same torture Sera did. She had to get out, too many feelings, emotions, pain. Mara could not fight from the inside out. She'd never done it before. There had to be a way out of this. Her body had already buckled to it's knees. Her head was being held tight. The pain her body was experiencing was horrible, she was sure. Maybe there was a time limit. Hm. Who knew, her survival skills were kicking in and Mara dug for something to use to kill the mental barrier. "You're losing, Sera. Kairi has lost her footing. The heartless will be hitting you soon. You can't concentrate with me here. You're going to need to let me out to help her, and yourself. Heh." Mara was shoving images to Kairi being consumed at her. "You're going to be attacked soon, and it will be enough for me to pull out.""You're going to lose."

It seemed only melee attacks had hurt this man so far, or perhaps simply shooting bullets at him wasn't enough, as Vincent watched the Heartless turn his sword into a shield and block the bullets harmlessly. He took a deep breath, and watched with intent glowing red eyes at the man's next move as black bangs whipped about his pale face. Was he actually able to shape-shift his sword, or had it been an illusion? No, if it were an illusion he weaved, it would have passed straight through the shield, and there would be no purpose to it at all. Vincent noted this to himself, and prepared to make his next move.
Suddenly there was a piercing scream that rang throughout the garden, which rang through Vincent's ears. It was that of a young woman, and no other scream could have been made unless the female was in some kind of terrible pain. Vincent whipped his head back around to the orange-haired man that was his opponent, in case the Heartless tried to attack him during his distraction. The villain made a remark how it was just him and Vincent, and the man in crimson wasn't amused in the slightest, for soon that was about to be a false statement. Before the man could say another word, Vincent grabbed the edge of his crimson cape and pulled it over him, causing his humanoid body to disappear and leave behind only the fluttering phantom form of his crimson cape.
The man with orange hair wasn't the only one to make illusions a reality.
The crimson phantom suddenly took off into the air, flying over the rooftops as if it were some kind of demonic magic carpet. It pulled itself along over the writhing masses of Heartless, spotting the young Princess of Heart that had collapsed. She had destroyed the majority of the Heartless with her great inner light, but the ones that survived slunk their way to her lifeless body, but as they leaped into the air to finish the job and steal her heart from it the crimson cape knocked them aside like a giant snake of writhing twisting fabric. Heartless were scattered in an explosion of black bodies, hearts being released upon their obliteration. The cape gathered itself as it coiled back into a floating cloud of tattered crimson which shielded defensively over the young keyblader, then from under it's tattered folds shot out several shots of bullets at the oncoming leaping Heartless, and if Kairi was conscious she would feel a sudden coolness as the fabric comfortingly scooped her up in it's folds. Then suddenly the crimson cloak, having absorbed the Princess of Heart in it's cradling grasp, pulled itself back along into the air again in a bolt of demonic red until it came to a stop before Merlin's house.
There the automated defense system was operating at full potential, powered by Tron inside Ansem's computer, blasting away Heartless away from entering the small shack. Kairi could feel herself being gently deposited at the doorway of the house, her back resting up against the inner frame of the open doorway, her legs folded out in front of her. If her conscious self could look up at that moment now, she could see the cool red fabric which had carried her to sanctuary transform back into Vincent Valentine, except now there was a glow all over his body of a red energy. Vincent looked down upon her for a moment to check her condition, pulling a green orb from his pocket, and healed her with the power of the Restore materia for a decent amount of health. "I'm watching over you. But for now, I've got a story to end." he said, not bothering to heal himself as he pocketed the Materia, and turned quickly to jump back up onto the rooftops until he was before Valerius once again.
Of course, he would say nothing, but his body glowing red with energy would say it all. He had utilized the power of his Protomateria, so he could control the power of Chaos in his human form, so now his attack, speed and stamina had dramatically increased. The Heartless was not the only one with surprises, and now they would be more equally matched. His cape and raven black hair were blown back behind him, as he withdrew Cerberus and pointed it at the Heartless man once more. "This ends here." he finally replied back to Valerius, and pointed his tri-gun Cerberus in his direction, waiting for the next move.

It was an empty feeling.
Like drowning in her own personal darkness, with no warmth to comfort her. Everything felt like it had been taken away, until only the coldness was there for her to feel. No light, no happiness, no nothing. A numbness she hated to feel, and how she wished she could find her own inner light, but had she burned it out? Within her own internal workings, she was completely alone, and Kairi hated to be alone. That was her greatest fear in this world, that her friends would move on and leave her behind. That if she could not be strong enough, everyone would continue to move on, wondering why they waited. While the Princess would always wait, hoping someone out there remembered she was still here. Always waiting, always wishing that she would not end up alone. Princesses were always left behind, were they not? Always within that tower, waiting and waiting for the Prince to come save them.
She was tired of waiting.
Kairi could barely sense a thing outside her body, everything so bleak and blurred. Her actions had been so reckless, but she had helped Sera, right? Something useful, even if she had put herself in danger once again. Blurred vision, and all she saw were shadows. Her hand, which laid so brokenly in front of her, reached out slightly, wanting to hold onto something. Anything, really. Tears streamed down her cheeks, and then everything went black, the only thing she heard were ringing gunshots, and something cold. All her senses dulled, and the comforting darkness overtook her mind and form, wishing for some light to warm her from within. Feeling that spark within her heart, she grasped for it, though the light evaded her, flickering and weaving from beyond her searching hold, always evasive, and coming only when the time was needed. Maybe she just needed some rest?
Kairi forced herself through the darkness, opening brilliant oceanic eyes, looking up weakly. Vincent? Crimson filled her eyes, the shape distinct, but hazy at the edges. Her lips parted, but words could not come to her. Was she always such a burden? Kairi wanted to prove herself, to let other know that she did not have to be left behind. That she could catch up, and be helpful as well. The Princess just did not wish to be alone, but it seemed she always was. Healing waves washed over her slender frame, and it was relieving, but she still felt weak. Perhaps mental exhaustion? Kairi only watched with widened eyes as Vincent quickly left, and she lurched forward. The concrete ground scraped against the soft skin of her palms, and she winced. Catching herself, the Princess managed to stand, too stubborn to ever sit by and let others fight.

Sera had been continuing the remembering the sensations of pain (and currently suffocation or drowning) when the images of the red-haired keybearer being overwhelmed by the vast amount of Heartless that the two Horsemen (at least, Horseman and woman) had summoned until she had fallen and a glowing heart floated into the grim grey skies. Although the witch cannot deny that the images were realistic, there was something off about them as if there was something out of place.
Maurelle's words rang through her head and Sera felt her barrier weaken (Though not enough to break out of the mental prison.) because her focus was shifting to Kairi. Were the images currently happening at this moment or were they going to happen any time soon? The witch personally knew that mind visions, fake or not, were not something to fool with so there was valid reason why Sera fell for Maurelle's lie.
Sera did want to help Kairi fight the dark creatures off but the only way to do that is to push away Maurelle's presence away from her mind. With the decision already made, the witch pulled down the barrier once more to roughly shove away the Horsewoman from her mind.
Her violet eyes had shut themselves tight during the whole mental fight but they reopened themselves in time to witness a red blurr (Was it Vincent?)[/i] rescue the fallen Kairi. Sera then noticed the small number of Heartless instead of the swarm that she had been expecting. What had happened here? "Who did this or rather, who could have done it?"[/i]wondered Sera, amazed, as she glanced around before realizing that Maurelle just tricked her.
"Dammit..." muttered the witch as she glanced at Maurelle's form. She couldn't use the same trick twice especially not when the Heartless was now aware of what this witch was capable of. For all Sera knew, Maurelle could be a fast learner and could figure out how the witch had done it.
Perhaps now is the time to wait to see what the Heartless' reaction would be but Sera had unsheathed her katana in case the reaction was a violent one. There was doubt on the later possiblity but better safe than sorry since appearances can be deceiving.

Valerius held his sword, pointing the tip of it at the ground while he watched Vincent, waiting to see what the man's next move would be. It was surprising, to say the least. The cloak engulfed his opponent and took off, what kind of trick was that? He grinned, amused at the spectacle. He watched as Vincent picked up the girl with the Keyblade, the one who had taken out so many Heartless with that surge of energy, and then he flew off again. It seemed that the crimson-cloaked man was not one to leave his teammates to a cruel and painful fate, the only kind she would have received from Valerius' fellow, but also mindless, Heartless. He had to admit, he had no love for his kind, they brought destruction to everything. Honestly, Valerius enjoyed how life was far too much for him to want everything to simply end.
He had justified the assault that he participated in with the fact that the forces of Light were strong, and that resistance would be powerful. The battle between the Heartless and their enemies would change everything, Valerius was certain of that. He wasn't against change though, it kept everything from going stale. He was a bringer of change, he knew that now. Important enough to use his power to change the way everything had been, for the better or for the worse. For now, Valerius was with the Heartless, but who knew, perhaps he would switch sides? He chuckled to himself at the thought, he sure was flippant when it came to his loyalties. He glanced over at Maruelle, she was one of the main reasons that he stayed with the Heartless, though he didn't know why. Not entirely unlike the Nobody's, the Heartless had no feelings, so what kept his bound to his fellow Horsemen so?
He noticed Maruelle and the other girl breaking out of their trance, perhaps their battle of wits had ended? He couldn't tell if there had been a victor, it appeared as if it had been a tie, or perhaps one of them had simply dropped the challenge? He suspected that Maruelle's opponent had done that, maybe to save the Keyblader? It was a viable possibility, especially since the group seemed to be a tight-knit one, more then willing to risk their lives for the lives of their friends. Then again, they would also probably throw their lives away for complete strangers. Valerius had never felt that way for another person, but he had been a selfish, self-centered person in life, and now he had no heart to feel with. He regretted the way he had lived as a whole being, without a purpose except to battle, the exact way that he lived his existence now. But it was too late to change that, his path was set, and Valerius was not one to fight the tides of destiny.
Valerius was snapped from his reverie by the re-appearance of his opponent, claiming that this ends here. Valerius dropped his smirk, things were more then serious now. He knew a true challenge when he heard one, and it sounded like this guy was more then convinced to see this battle to the end, win or lose. Valerius nodded at the man. "Tell me one last thing. Can you tell the difference between reality..." Valerius waved his arm in a wide arc, ending the motion by pointing at Vincent. "And illusion? Valerius exerted a large amount of energy, aiming it at his opponent. The energy would trap Vincent in a world of illusion, one that only he and Valerius would inhabit. There he would be on his own, seeing a place from his own mind and remembering his own memories. Valerius would share his sight of these places and things, and in theory Vincent would be distracted enough for him to take advantage of him and strike a deadly blow.

Maurelle normally would have gloated if she tricked someone into doing something. But this time it was more personal. She had been trapped in someone's mind and was suffering as much as the captor. Thankfully her trick had worked. But she was sure it would work again if she said Kairi was really harmed. Though, the princess of heart seemed fine again.
Once she was back in her body, she took a DEEP breath. Maurelle was practically on her knees as she shifted back to her own body. Maurelle opened her own two eyes with a little difficulty. But the rest of her body was slow to follow suit. It took her a little bit for her to stand again.
She looked to check on Valerius, he was still fine. Thank god he was. If Valerius fell, she was sure to follow suit.
Maurelle looked back at the witch across the way, whip in hand. "Tricked me, you'll pay for that..." Maurelle narrowed her eyes and was attempting to take control of Sera. If she could put the witch in standby mode, she could focus on taking out Kairi, then move to help Valerius with his target. Then the two heartless could finish Sera after. It would all work.
Maurelle just hoped the assault on Disney Castle was going better.
