Jecht gritted his teeth and growled. He did not like this Chess-hair Cat or whatever it called itself. It kept speaking in riddles, probably seeking to confuse him. Did people really think he was that thick that they could confuse him that easily? He was stubborn, not thick. There was a difference. "I asked where we were, not where we're not, furball! I already know the answer to the latter!" Finally, after some fancy vanishing acts, the cat mentioned that they were in Wonderland... which didn't explain exactly much, but at least they had a name to this place.
Then the Cat began inquiring as to who they were. It mentioned Fang controlling a dragon and at that, Jecht couldn't help but glance at the woman. A summoner? But she's definitely not a Spiran. Guess my world's not the only one. Wonder if she needs a Guardian? Jecht then glared back at the Cat at the mention of his spikes and jumping ability. That meant it had followed them, at the very least, from the weird kitchen place to here, if he hadn't done so since they'd arrive. Jecht didn't like how this was turning out. And if he was hesitant about telling Fang about himself, he was outright defiant about telling the Cat.
"Look, Chest-fire Cat or whatever you are, I ain't a monster! Monsters are mindless and Fang and I got minds of our own, thank you very much! I, for one, ain't gonna tell you squat about me! If you don't go anything better to do than to bother us, then go away!" And with that, Jecht beckoned Fang to follow him as he started to walk off. However, he took a glance at the Cheshire Cat to make sure it was still there and hadn't tried to do anything hostile.

Fang ignored the glance from Jecht at the cat’s words. She was sure that the man had questions of his own now, but at the moment they simply did not have time to fall back into that conversation or any other conversation for that matter. Not with this cat present anyway.
In any case, the answer to the cat's questioning had been the same from both warriors. They weren’t going to talk to the strange cat. As Jecht finished talking to the cat and then beckoned for Fang to follow, the woman was only too happy to comply. Giving the cat one final glare, Fang followed Jecht back down the path the way they had just come. That cat had really gotten on her nerves and she couldn’t help, but feel relieved to be getting away from it; however, something told her the cat was still watching them. The urge to look back was strong, but she kept her eyes focused on the path ahead. Jecht, on the other hand, did look back.
What he would see, would be the Cheshire Cat sitting now like a normal cat on the ground watching them as it swished its tail. The malicious grin still plastered on its face. “So sad you would not share. Perhaps if you had I would’ve helped you find your way out or perhaps pointed you in the direction of the other human I saw come this way,” the cat said. Other human? The thought tugged powerfully on Fang. Her pace slowed a bit as she deeply considered turning back to cat and demand what it knew.
“However, you seemed to have been rather noisy and have disturbed the peace within the Queen of Hearts’ (Red Queen’s) Garden. Listen,” the cat paused and stood on two legs with a paw "cupped" at one of its ears. “Can’t you hear her guards coming?” and then just like that the cat vanished with leaving behind a faint smile in the air that soon vanished on the wind. A few seconds later, the sound of running greeted Fang’s ears. Since she was still facing the way they had come, she was the first to see the strangest guard ever coming around the corner at at jog. The guard...It was a card...the 4 of Hearts to be precise. It was the strangest thing to see a man size card walking around with a spear in hand and with arms, legs, and a head to boot. The card didn’t seem like it could handle a beating, but then again, the way it held its weapon said it was a well trained warrior. From the behind her she heard a second guard come and turned slightly to see the 4 of Spades round the other corner. Upon seeing Fang and Jecht there, the two guards halted where they were for a second before lowering their weapons in an attack position and coming towards the pair. It didn't look like there was going to be an easy way around the pair. They were sandwhiched between the on coming pair. No it looked like they'd have to fight.
Fang turned back to the card in front of her and focused on it as it moved slowly towards her with the cold eyes of a warrior who had been in battle before. “Hey, take of that other one will ya?” she said to Jecht and then moved forward slightly, falling into a defensive position to see just how well this strange card could handle its weapon. _____________________________________________________________ (I am going somewhere with this. I wrote out the plan, so let’s see where it goes yes? XD)
!!Warning!!! The Red Queen’s Guards have flooded the Garden, no thanks to Cheshire you can bet! Get out of the maze as quietly as possible and without killing any of the guards.
The 4 of Hearts and the 4 of Spades have cornered you. Defeat them quickly and without alerting the other guards.
There are 20 guards in the large maze that stand between you and the exit.

"You stupid cat! Jecht exclaimed, admittedly as quietly as possible, but it was too late. He could already hear footsteps approaching and his hand reflexively gripped the handle of his sword, ready to do battle. "Be on your guard, Fang. Who knows what the soldiers here are... like?" Jecht saw the soldier approaching him and it was... an animate card? The 6 of Spades? "... What." Jecht could only utter, a confused expression on his face. He looked behind him to see that Fang was dealing with a similar foe.
"You have got to be kidding me. Seriously, what kind of Fiends are these?!" Jecht sighed. First, the Heartless, now whatever these guys were. Fang told him to take care of the other guy, to which Jecht clicked his tongue and sighed. "Can't really say I've been asked to take care of animated paper before." The 6 of Spades lowered its weapon threateningly at Jecht and was about to say something before Jecht grabbed the card's face, covering up his mouth. Jecht smirked a bit. "Uh, no, you get to shut up." Jecht then rammed the card's head face first into the ground, in an effort to knock him out. Jecht then turned to the other two, hoping that Fang could dispatch the other card soldier in a similar manner. Even Jecht knew they probably would be better off without alerting every guard in the vicinity.
Of course, Jecht could still take them all out. He WAS the best, after all.

(4 of Spades, love XD.)
Fang heard Jecht words and couldn’t agree more. The cat had to have something to do with this sudden appearance of guards. They had been just fine until that cat had appeared and now trouble had appeared when the cat vanished. Somehow the cat must’ve set them up. Either that or these guards just had odd timing. In any case, Jecht’s warning reached her ears just as their enemies approached, his shock was just as plain as her own. No one ever expected cards to attack, but in this strange world who knew what to expect? Fang had given up on ever making sense of the world. It made swallowing whatever the place threw at her easier, but only slightly easier. It was still almost comical that her opponent was a card, but Fang knew better to take the matter lightly. Who knew what these guys could do. After all, they did wild weapons. To her comment about taking care of the other guard, Jecht made a comment about the handling paper.
“Me and you both,” she responded to his comment quietly enough so that the other guards would not be alerted, but where Jecht could still hear. After that, there was a rather short and quiet battle. Jecht quickly shut his opponent up by knocking the guard senseless as its head met the ground. The card was sure to feel the bump when he whenever he woke up, but hopefully she and Jecht would be out of here before that happened. In any case, Fang found her card just as easy to bring down. The guy looked tough, but he wasn’t exactly bright. He came at her quietly and made a stab at her, but the stab was not well aimed. With ease, Fang moved out of the way, letting him run past. As he ran, she stuck her staff out causing the card to trip. That’s right, he tripped right over the obvious trap. The card didn’t even try to stop. As the card fell face first, Fang quickly moved her staff in such a fashion that it struck the card in the back of the head with the blunt side. It was a quick motion that struck before the card before it had time to realize it was being attacked. With a soft grunt, the card went unconscious right across from its friend.
As Jecht turned to looked at her to see how she had handle the situation, she looked up from the card and then moved quietly to the edge of the “hall” they were in. She could see another guard there. This time, the 5 of Diamonds. Like the other two cards he was armed with a spear and at the moment did not look like he was going anywhere. Thankfully, his back was to her, so he didn’t see or hear her as she pulled herself back and looked over at Jecht. She mouthed the words “check the other way” and then waited for the okay or no to going that direction. Since they were in a narrow hall the only other option they had was to tear a hole in the wall in some quiet fashion. A bit risky considering they didn’t know what was on the other side. Still they needed an out. Staying was not an option, especially when that cat could show up at any time and bring who knew what with it... _________________________________________________________________________________________

Well, at least the cards folded pretty easily. Jecht and Fang now only had to deal with the rest of the maze. This was going to be a long day and getting longer by the minute. Jecht nodded at Fang's request (he refused to call it an order. Jecht bowed to no one.) and moved towards the other side. Unfortunately, that way was not clear as the ten of clubs was patrolling that particular hallway. Jecht sighed and shook his head at Fang, indicating it was not clear. He walked back to her and crouched down, trying to think of a way through.
Sure, he could just barrel straight through the maze, but at this point, he wasn't sure if he'd just lead Fang back where they started and with a bunch of Card Soldiers behind them to boot. He could jump to the top of the hedge wall and guide Fang from there. That, however, was assuming the Card Soldiers decided not to look up. Although, Jecht thought, that one soldier was easily beaten by an obvious trip, so maybe they're too dumb to look up. The last thing Jecht had in mind was to just try and use stealth to get through the maze. But given his propensity for being a brute, Jecht didn't trust himself to be stealthy. That and he was just plain heavier than normal. Which caused to rethink that second plan. Although...
Jecht looked at Fang and got close to her so he could whisper with some amount of clarity. "Ok, I got an idea. I'll launch you to the top of the hedge wall and you can guide me from there. I'd do it, but, well, I'm a heavy dude. I'd probably get up there and break every branch falling back down. What do you think?" Jecht figured Fang had a different plan, but as of right now, anything to get out of his maze would be just dandy for Jecht.

When Fang saw Jecht shake his head telling her that the way was blocked, Fang sighed inwardly thinking what to do. Almost simataneously, she and Jecht walked to the center of the hall and crouched down, trying to plan their way out. They couldn’t go back and they couldn’t go forward with guards there. While punching a hole through the wall seemed like the next best thing, Fang knew that plan would probably cause more trouble than help. Who knew what was on the other side? If it was a guard they would be caught and if it was the cat, who knew what other trouble it might bring. Placing her left hand on her chin, she bowed her head slightly in thought. Her mind sifted through their options, throwing out any involving violence or brute force. They needed to get out of here quietly, but how could they when they were trapped like they were? Fang’s thoughts came to a stop as she suddenly realized an option she hadn’t considered. Looking up at the hedges, Fang smiled slightly just as Jecht spoke her thought out loud.
She looked at the man and nodded. “It looks like we are on the same page,” she whispered back and then standing she took a few steps away as she let Jecht stand up. When Jecht had prepared himself to give her a boost, she came at the man quickly and hopped off the ground and place her foot within his hands. When she felt him push upward on the foot, she let herself be carried by the momentum. She did a small flip and landed softly on top of the hedges glad that the wall was able to hold her weight. From her position, she took a quick scan of the area marking the path they needed to go. With the path drawn out in her mind, Fang moved to the edge of the wall and found the 10 of clubs looking every direction except up. He was blocking the three paths one could go—left, right, or forward—so he definitely needed to be out of the way. Looking around, the top of the hedge, Fang found a stick resting there that had not been there before. Giving up on figuring out why things appeared when they did, Fang grabbed the stick and then taking careful aim at the wall in the left hall, she tossed the stick as hard as she could at that wall. Stick hit the wall with a loud enough sound that the 10 of clubs, headed to check out the sound. While he was distracted, she signaled for Jecht to move down the right path. And so in this slow, tedious manner, the pair moved through the maze until they came to the exit, which had a guard blocking it. While the guard spotted Jecht, he did not have time to make a sound as Fang dropped down silently upon him from above, causing the card collapse under her weight and fall unconscious as his head met the hard ground. Giving Jecht a triumphant smile, Fang turned to their exit and left not doubting that Jecht would follow.
Happy to be out of the maze, Fang and Jecht would find themselves in a outside room set up like some kind of courtroom with the judge chair and desk sitting high above the rest. The place was thankfully empty of guards, but Fang could sense they were not alone. Something was watching them.
“Ah I see that you’ve escaped Red Queen’s Garden and have arrived in Her Majesty’s Court. I am pleased to see you are unharmed,” the familiar mocking voice of the cat said. Gritting her teeth, Fang’s eyes locked on the judge's desk to find the cat lying there with that smile on its face. She did not smile black.
“What did you call the guards for cat?” she demanded angrily.
“Called them? No. No. They merely had good timing. I had nothing to do with their appearance,” the cat said giving them an innocent look that made Fang’s blood boil. It took everything in her power not to attempt to attack the cat. As much as she hated to admit it, she believed that the cat would probably be their only clue to their way out and also the person it said it had seen. “So will you tell us about the human you saw?” she asked, trying to remain calm.
“Human? What human?”
“The one you said had come through the area.”
“I was talking about you two.”
“No you weren't. You said there was another.”
“Another what?”
Fang fe1l silent as she took a deep breath at this round about nature of the cat. If she found a way to get ahold of the cat, she was going to beat into talking. Too bad, it was too tricky to catch, so she simply glared at at it and the cat chuckled in response. ____________________________________________________________________
Garden successfully escaped, but the cat seems to still have some tricks up its sleeves. What will it do next?

Jecht hadn't fallen in love in a long, long time, not since he met his first wife, anyways. That being said, he was quickly admiring Fang more and more. She was a woman after Jecht's own heart. They thought alike, fought... ok, well, they didn't fight alike. Fang had more finesse whereas Jecht tended to brute force his way through obstacles. Sadly, that didn't help him win the tournament, but his opponent was a lot more skilled. But he and Fang also had that wild look about them and certainly didn't mind speaking their thoughts. Well, except for their secrets, but Jecht couldn't blame Fang for not sharing her entire story. Everyone had secrets, after all.
As they escaped the maze, that stupid furball came back. Something about that grin made Jecht want to punch something. Something that rhymed with "Crestfire Bat". However, for once, Jecht curbed his temper or at least tried to. This creature clearly enjoyed being cryptic and no amount of blustering was going to get him to speak in a non-cryptic sentence any time soon. Jecht put a hand on Fang's shoulder as a way to calm her down. "Don't bother getting worked up. If he ain't gonna tell us, he's not going to tell us." Jecht said. Jecht then planted his sword and folded his arms, a stern expression on his face. He wasn't intending on intimidating the Cat, but he really couldn't help it if he did. It was kinda his thing.
"Ok, I can buy that the guards happened to be there on patrol or whatever." Jecht said, "But what is it that you want, furball?! What's your deal? Why follow us and be all cryptic and puzzling? I'm sure there're plenty of outsiders to bother." Jecht had two guesses. One, the cat was bothering the duo to bother them. Two, The Cat wanted something from them. Jecht didn't like either option, particularly the latter option. And to be honest, he really wanted out of here.

As Jecht rested his hand on her shoulder and spoke, Fang simply nodded as she let some of the rage leave her. She was still annoyed with the cat, but Jecht had a point. You couldn’t force the cat to do anything it didn’t want to do…even if beating it senseless was tempting. In any case, she was glad that Jecht was there otherwise, she would’ve torn down the place to get at said cat. Anyway, Jecht was just as displeased to see the cat as she was, so she simply watched as Jecht planted his sword in the ground, crossed his arms, and gave the cat a stern look. While the look was impressive and even intimidating to some, Fang highly doubt that smiling cat was going to be phased by it. A light chuckle confirmed her thought. Go figure. When Jecht spoke to the cat, the smile turned into an evil grin.
“Other outsiders? Maybe yes and maybe no. You are much too fun to pass up, so I decided to play a game with you. If you win, you both may get what you want or perhaps you will both lose.” The cat waved its paw and three boxes that looked like presents that belonged under a Christmas tree appeared.
“One is the right the box and the other two black lies. Choose wisely to find your way forward. I’ll be seeing you again soon I hope,” the cat said with a wave and then vanished and left the pair with the boxes. Fang was still for a moment glaring at the spot where the cat had been. A game with an reward? And what if that was a lie? Could she really risk not playing? If it was true and they could get clues and a way out from this game, then by all means she was willing to play. Yet, that but and what if lingered. Fang sighed inwardly and looked at the boxes with a frown.
“The cat sure isn’t one for giving you a choice in the matter is it?” she asked with a hint of annoyance in her voice before refocusing on the boxes. “Now then. Two are black lies and one is the right one. Hmm..."she paused as she considered the options they had with the boxes. "We could randomly open one and sees what happens..." she began stating one option and leaving the rest of the silence to any ideas Jecht might suggest. This really wasn't a simple matter. The boxes were identical. There wasn't even a hint at which was right and which was wrong. Freaking cat... Fang thought as she continued to ponder the way to go about opening one of the boxes. ____________________________

"Ah great, it's the Cloisters all over again." Jecht complained. He looked at the boxes as the Cheshire Cat left. They all looked alike, right down to the same way they were wrapped. Jecht scratched his head and sighed, thinking about the words since he figured judging the craftsmanship of the gift wrapping wasn't going to go anywhere. "Well... One box is the right one and the others have black lies." Jecht muttered quite loudly. Suddenly, an uncharacteristically bright light bulb appeared in Jecht's mind as a thought raced through his head. When he helped out that Sora kid in that world made of darkness, he remembered that it felt like being Sin again.
"Maybe the 'black lies' means those gifts have Heartless or darkness in 'em. If that's the case..." Jecht closed his eyes. He didn't like the fact that the stuff that made up the Heartless also composed Sin and, by proxy, Jecht or at least part of him. Jecht sensed out each of the gifts, trying to see which one wasn't tainted with Darkness or Sin-stuff or whatever. After his search he found the gift that, hopefully, didn't have Heartless in it.
"I think it's the right one," Jecht pointed at the present to the right of the middle one [color=FF1000"Don't ask why I think that, it's still just a hunch. However, I got a good feeling it's the right one."[/color] Jecht then looked at Fang and shrugged, trying to put on the air of someone taking a guess. That's the last thing he needed, Fang thinking he was one of those Heartless. Well, worse comes to worse, he could blame it on the air in Wonderland.
Sin knows the world was strange enough as it was.

Cloisters? Fang thought, but decided to not push the matter as she observed the gifts before her some more. Unlike some people, Fang could not sense well. All she could go by was her sense of uneasiness that told her that trouble was there. Unfortunately, that particular skill wasn’t working for the young woman at the moment for every inch of her was telling her not to trust any of the boxes at all. The whole set up screamed out trap, but Fang pushed the thoughts away and focused. She couldn't leave the boxes alone. Not when there was a slim chance for a clue.
She was on the edge of opening the one to left of the middle one, when Jecht spoke and added his own thought to the situation at hand. The black lies equaled the Heartless? It certainly seemed to match up with the strange dark creatures that had they had fought only moments before. She hesitated with before making her move. If those things were hiding in the box, they were doing a lovely job of not moving. Still, she didn’t want to exactly open a box and have one those beasts pop out at her. She had had her share of surprises for one day and was not looking for another one so soon. If a surprise could be avoided, then that was the path Fang wanted.
In any case, following the words Jecht seemed to go into some form of concentration as he closed his eyes for a moment. While Fang didn’t see any point of this, she didn’t doubt whatever the man was doing. Surely, something would come out of something that seemed pointless. While he concentrated or whatever, she kneeled down by the gifts, trying to examine the gifts closer for differences. Still nothing.
Fang stayed where she was a moment longer and then Jecht spoke. She looked up at him from her kneeling position. He was saying that he felt the box to the right of the middle one was correct. Okay…that was a bit odd. She didn’t understand how the man had come to this conclusion, but then again she didn’t try and push him into explaining it either. She simply looked at him with a nod, before looking at the boxes again.
Well he had given her his choice, so what to do? She looked at the boxes a second longer and then shrugging inwardly, she picked up the box Jecht had chosen and opened it cautiously. When nothing came out at them, Fang blinked slightly and then peered into the box.
What she found was something rather small. She picked the item up and held it between her fingers letting the light of the area catch on the small bead she found.
The design of the bead and its age…there was no mistaking where it had come from for there were no more of its kind.
“Vanille,” she whispered as she observed the bead for a moment longer. ________________________________________________

"Oh cool, my guess was correct!" Jecht unconvincingly said. He wondered who he was trying to convince that he wasn't a guy infested with Darkness. Jecht concluded that he must have been trying to convince Fang, because he sure wasn't. Jecht saw what Fang pulled and as she said a name, the Blitz King nodded, understanding. "Guess that's something the person you're looking for had? Looks nice."
Jecht then backed away and looked towards the palace overlooking the hedge maze. He then looked over his shoulder and sighed. He hated to pry, but he felt it was necessary. He turned to Fang, arms folded across his chest, a neutral look on his face as he stood by his sword. "So, who's this 'Vanille'? A sister? A friend?" Jecht asked. He was no private investigator but who knew? Maybe Fang might reveal something that would help the two find this person easier. He didn't like to think about the alternative. Of course, he was sure Fang would ask something personal in return for information about this person. Jecht didn't have to like it, but he'd burn that bridge when they'd got to it.

“Yeah, it was,” Fang responded to Jecht first set of words. Whether or not she bought the fake shock was another matter entirely for she still gave Jecht an appreciative smile before standing and looking back at the bead. The bead had her worried for her friend as she examined it again. Why on earth would just a bead be left behind? Was Vanille hurt or captured somewhere? What had that cat done with her? There was a brief moment of silence as Fang closed her hand around the bead and her eyes harden as a brief burst of anger swept over her. If the cat had done anything to Vanille—
Her thoughts came to a halt as she heard Jecht ask a question. She nodded in response. “She's a bit of both,” she responded and then started to elaborate more, but did not as a movement caught her eye. When she looked towards the disturbance, she saw what appeared to be Vanille running for a cave like hole to the left. Fang a confused and concerned look crossed her face as she saw the figure.
“Vanille?” she asked to no one in particular and then found her worry turning into anger as she saw a few Heartless following her friend's trail. Pushing all thoughts of a trap out of her head, she turned to Jecht for a moment.
“Come, Jecht. We gotta help her,” she said before heading off at run in the direction the small group had gone. Whether or not Jecht came or tried to stop her, Fang did not know or bother to check. She was focused on saving her friend from those Heartless and so kept moving without looking back. Through the cave into a forest of large plants and mushrooms she went, following the small group of Heartless and Vanille that somehow manage to stay at the same distance at all times. Fang would continue to move until she finally came out in a room that was literally upside down. The checkered floor made up the ceiling and the half moon window was turned upside down. A chandlier sat upright in the middle of the room. Across the way were slanted rafters and what appeared to be a trap door of some sort. As Fang entered the room, she came to a slight halt as she looked around the upside down area searching for Vanille and the Heartless. It did not take long before she found the group of five swarming around Vanille who was trapped against the far wall.
“Vanille!” Fang called and took a step forward only to stop as she was surrounded by a set of five Heartless. If Jecht had followed, he would see that the Heartless near the wall were now coming to join the 5 around Fang. Fang, on the other hand, was furious with this distraction.
“Out of my way!” she growled before taking a swing at the group sending them running for life and crushing a few with the angry strike. _________________________________________________

Jecht nodded in understanding. "Yeah, that makes sense. Well, don't worry we'll find he- What? HEY! WAIT!" Jecht was taken aback by Fang running off after the figure that Jecht only managed to catch a glimpse of. The Blitz King sighed, scratched the back of his head and took up his sword. Better make sure she doesn't dive head-first into trouble... Whoa, I'm the one saying that?! That is just surreal. Jecht bounded after Fang, carrying his sword over his shoulder.
When he got to the forest, Jecht pondered whether or not he had shrunk again. However, he managed to catch up to Fang as they entered another room and find themselves... on a ceiling? However, Jecht didn't have time to admire the surroundings as he saw a girl being hounded by the Heartless. Fang called out to the girl, who was apparently Vanille. Despite the fortuitous reunion, warning bells rang loud and clear in Jecht's mind. "Be careful, Fang. Remember where we are! This might be a bigger trap." As Fang charged at the Heartless, Jecht charged with her. Trap or not, the girl was still in trouble.
Jecht caught something out of the corner of his eye and looked to see more Heartless trying to join the five Heartless already there. Jecht growled and barrelled towards them, launching a flurry of hits at the Shadows, before backing up and started charging up his sword. "Tch... this ain't right... why aren't stronger Heartless coming to back these small fries up?" Jecht mused to himself as he got ready to launch Jecht Blade.

Fang heard Jecht's warning about this possibly being a big trap. There was truth to the words, but Fang’s mind was not working correctly as it focused on only saving Vanille. As she took out another of the Shadows and stabbed a second, she heard Jecht asking about the stronger Heartless and shook her head. “I don’t know, but I am glad it is only the small ones that decided to attack her,” Fang said as she made a swing at another that was smart enough to jump back. She growled and moved forward following her prey. The small creature was not prepared for her and so was easily smashed by the downward strike meant for it. The battle would continue with the scared looking Vanille watching the fight from her position backed up against the wall. Somewhere in the back of Fang's mind, the lack of participation in the battle from Vanille was strange; however, she pushed the thought away, telling herself that Vanille was simply too rattled to defend herself at the moment. A thought that helped her focus and drove her determination to destroy the pests that stood between her and her friend.
Unknown to the fighting pair, the Cheshire Cat watched from a hidden position in the shadows. Smiling and chuckling inwardly, the cat looked from the battlefield to the darker shadows behind it. There were two hidden there, but they kept their prescence well hidden. As the cat glanced back, the female of the pair simply smiled back while the male watched with a bored expression.
“Don’t worry,” the cat told its hidden guests in a way only they could hear. “This will pick up soon.” From there the cat looked back at the battlefield to see how Fang and the man would handle the surprise that would follow the Shadows defeat. __________________________________________________________________________________________
4 Shadows left. Three were destroyed by Fang and one destroyed by Jecht when they charged into battle.

Jecht also noticed Vanille's lack of action in the fight. This put him on edge. Surely a friend of Fang's would be able to fight as well as her, right? Jecht sighed and aimed his body towards the last few Heartless stragglers and unleashed Jecht Blade, swinging his sword wildly, before unleashing all the energy in one last swing. After that, he looked around for any more Heartless to destroy.
"Grr... be careful, Fang. I still think this is a trap and the stronger Heartless are just around the corner. And who knows what that cat's got planned?" Jecht looked around, making sure the room was clear. Then he started thinking about the matters at hand. Why didn't Vanille spring to action when he and Fang rescued her? She didn't seem unconscious. In fact, she was quite awake.
Jecht didn't like where this was going. He didn't like it, at all. He couldn't shake the feeling that he had just been led into a trap and if that was the case, he had to admit that it was his fault. However, if it was a trap, it had to be centered around Vanille and Jecht doubted that Fang would believe him if he told her Vanille was being used as a decoy. Of course, WAS it Vanille in the first place? Lots of things had happened here in Wonderland and Jecht couldn't take everything at face value in this place.
"Remember, this World and that cat lives to mess with our heads, Fang. Be cautious." Jecht said. If this were the Jecht before he became Sin, he'd have damned the consequences and just took Vanille and run off. However, this was the new Jecht and he was NOT on Spira anymore. Logic took a back seat here. The only thing he could do was cover Fang, in case there was another ambush.
